Rules
[li] When your character is going to fight another, post in the Pinboard with a link to the thread.
[/li][li] A mod will see the update and come as soon as possible to mod the fight.
[/li][li] Each character should take it in turns to post their intended attack or defense.
[/li][li] As per usual, no power playing (commonly referred to as "PPing"). This pretty much means that you can't just say your character landed his/her attack. Your wolf cannot be "all powerful", and never lose a fight. If you do happen to powerplay or god-mod, you'll receive a warning.
Yes: Bob jumped at Steve, teeth bared, aiming for his opponents neck.
No: Bob jumped at Steve, closing his jaws around the other wolf's throat, ripping into the flesh.
[/li][li] Let the mods do their job! A mod will let you know if your wolf's attack hit/missed, how much damage it did/etc.
[/li][li] The outcome of each attack or defense is determined on how likely it is to succeed.
[/li][li] If you don't want a mod to decide the fight, you may decide with the other wolf's RPer which attacks hit and miss. However, if there are any complaints of powerplay a mod can step in to decide the rest of the fight.

Disclaimer
These rules are subject to change. If we feel an unwritten "rule" has been broken, we will add it here but the offender will not be penalized unless they break it again. Thanks for reading all this, by the way <3
General[/b]
- Our most important rule is that you be polite to all members. If a staff member is asking you to change something in a profile, post, or attitude, it's not personal! They're doing their job.
Accounts
- Please only make one account, you should play all your characters on this account. It makes it a lot easier for the staff to keep track of you all.
- Signature images should be no larger than 500x450
- Avatars and signatures should not include anything that the staff deems offensive. We will edit your profile if this is the case.
The World of WWM
- WWM is based in North America.
- The human era is undetermined, but assume that you will find any species that is native to America in the last 200 years including any exterminated by humans.
- The Power in the Mountain has a radius of around 100 miles (160km). The further from the Mountain, the more diluted the Powers are and the less influence the Power has had on the wolves that live there. Eg, a wolf who traveled 150 miles would look fairly mundane in appearance unless his family history included a wolf from WWM.
- Geology:
- To the North of WWM are mountains upon mountains, and then a few hidden valleys (The Shades) that contain some very antiquated packs. Wolves from here may have heard of the Powers and the White Wolves, but never experienced them.
- To the East are more mountains, though they can easily be crossed. Beyond them are vast forests.
- To the South is plains, scattered with trees and grass, rolling hills and the occasional river/glacier created cliff/valley.
- The West is blocked with mountain ranges, and it is VERY unlikely your wolf will travel into or out of WWM from/to this direction.
- Check out our map for a fairly detailed representation of the playable area of White Wolf Mountain.
Posting
- WWM is an intermediate-level RPG. The minimum word count is 100 on in-character posts, and we require proper spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation in all posts.
- If you're planning a scene with particular characters and you'd rather not have any intrusions, put a tag in the thread title so that the other members know which characters are allowed to post! You can also tag specific users by typing @(their account name) in the body of the post. This will send that person a notification that they have been tagged.
- WWM has limited liquid time. A character may be in up to three simultaneous threads at one time. Alphas may be in an unlimited number of threads within their own territory in addition to their three, in order to facilitate the acceptance of new pack members.
- Threads are considered inactive once they have not had any in-character posts for one week. If your character is in an inactive thread, it does not count against your character's three thread limit.
- Should an inactive thread become active again, you are permitted to finish that thread off without it counting against your liquid time limit.
Character Profiles
- When creating a character, follow the character profile template.
- A note to returning members: WWM5 is set two generations after WWM4, so all WWM3/4 wolves will have died. However, you can play your old characters in a Flashback :)
- We don't expect you to write bucket loads, but feel free to spend as much time as you like on making your profile.
- Remember though to pay special attention to the guidelines at the top of the template thread.
- You can start RPing right away after posting your character's profile, you don't have to wait for it to be moved to the Accepted Characters board,
- If you're going to use a reference image, please only use images that you drew or that someone drew/colored specifically for you to use. A thread with wolf templates that you are free to color can be found here.
Colours
- Over the centuries, the Power has altered the wolves in odd ways. One of those is pelt colors. Wolves at WWM can be any color, and have any kind of markings and eye (iris) color.
- Consequently, the wolves also see in full color vision unlike normal wolves (this makes for easier and more interesting RPing).
Breeds/Species
- Just timber/grey wolves are allowed at White Wolf Mountain.
- Your character may have markings and physical build that resembles that of a different species/subspecies but they will essentially be a timber wolf.
- Your wolf also cannot be a cross breed of any kind.
Ghosts
- If your character dies, you may turn them into a ghost. You may also create new characters who are already ghosts.
- Characters from WWM3 or 4 cannot be recreated as ghosts.
- Ghosts cannot under any circumstances carry their living powers to the afterlife.
- Ghosts cannot physically harm or touch the living in any way, but they can make contact with other ghosts.
- Stillborn pups cannot become ghosts.
- Ghosts do not have a sense of smell and they can not feel temperature.
- Ghosts can be RPed in any board; they do not need to stay in the Afterlife.
Special Characters
- If you would like to create a character that does not follow the rules/guidelines/regulations above, you can try to apply for a special character.
- To do so, fill out a profile as usual, but include as much information as possible. The history is not optional for special characters. PM the profile to a staff member, and they will put it forward to the rest of the staff.
- Your chances of getting a special character increase are greater if you are an active member of the site.
Man
- There are NO humans. WWM wolves have never heard of them, and any knowledge of the odd race would come from an outsider.
- The Abeytu Ruins look suspiciously human-built, though you'll never see a human within 100 miles of the Mountain.
Fighting
Hunting
- Outside the Hunting plains, you may mod your own hunts.
- If you want to play a modded hunt in the Hunting Plains, make sure to read the Hunting Plains Info beforehand so you know what to expect. Modded hunts mean bigger prey and bigger danger! :)
- When you post, a mod will come in and post the choices of prey. For example: A wounded deer, a moose, and a warren of rabbits.
- Your character takes turns with the mods, suggesting their attack or a defensive maneuver.
- Your characters can be injured in hunts so be careful what they choose to attack. It is recommended that you retreat if the going gets tough, as its usually a sign that the hunt will end badly.
- Just like with fighting, no powerplaying. Let the mods take care of the outcomes of attacks.
Breeding
- A pair of wolves may have a litter of puppies in any season, although it is suggested to breed in spring or summer to avoid complications.
- To breed two wolves, simply read the Breeding Form thread in the breeding board and follow the provided template.
- There may be complications, which more likely when loners and roaming wolves have pups. Loner wolves and wolves in roaming packs will give birth to smaller, possibly less healthy pups than pack wolves with territory.
- It is up to the player of the parents who takes which puppies to play.
- If neither of you are able to take all of them, you can put the remainder up in the Adoption board for other players to take.
- No graphic mating.
Healing
- If your character has been injured, they can visit White magic to be healed.
- If they are too injured to move, White Magic will come to you but another character must come and find her.
- WM has been known to refuse treatment if the reason for the injury is unacceptable to her.
Powers
- Powers are given to characters by the White Wolves.
- You must visit the White Wolves to get a Power, you cannot automatically be given one.
- You must choose from the list. Only in special circumstances will you be allowed a different power.
- There are three levels of power, the highest of which is rare to obtain.
- Your character will start off at the first level
- Over time, your character can develop to the second level. If you feel it is time for your wolf to move up a level, post a notification for the staff in the Pinboard. If they staff feels you've practiced sufficiently enough, your character will be leveled up.
- If your character is active and practices their power a lot, they might even get to the third and highest level, however, staff retains the right to deny level up requests as they see fit.
- Your character will start off at the first level
- If you use your power above its level, you will be warned so please take note of what the Powers limits are.
