Caecilius had left Perjury to her patrols after she had accepted him into a pack and had decided on looking for a den to claim as his own. He walked at a brisk trot, the sunlight reflecting off his white fur which made him quite easy to spot; a trait that he disliked about himself. His paws dug into the soft soil below him, getting a little dirty, and his ears swivelled around to take in all the sounds around him. If this was to be his home now, he needed to know it well. That's why he'd made at least three differently routed circuits around this area.
He slowed down, feeling a little tired from his non stop movement, still walking forwards but now looking for a particular place to stay. He saw a few empty dens but none really took his fancy. It was a while before a place stood out to him. He walked a little of the track he'd given himself, navigating the trees a lot better than he had at first. There was a comfortable looking hollow in the ground beneath a fallen tree. It wasn't perfect but it looked quiet and out of the way. He dug a little at the entrance to make it a little bigger before crouching low to peer inside.

Curious eyes peered out from between the trees. Framed in green and gold, the purple eyes appeared almost ornate as they spied on the den area, following the newcomer as he claimed one for himself. 'Interesting.' The female was not one to get ahead of herself in any matter of life, but she was never one to turn down the prospect of a little excitement. Especially since things had been particularly dull around the territory lately; it was just too big a place with too few wolves, and Alma had sometimes gone days without seeing another blessed soul. It was enough to drive you crazy.
Thankfully, it hadn't yet come to that. Noting that the newcomer was quite preoccupied with the inspection of his den, Alma exited the treeline with as little noise as possible and daintily made her way to sit a little ways behind him. She wasn't much for announcing herself, but he would see her when he turned around. Until then, she would just enjoy the view...

Caecilius was concentrating fully on digging at the entrance. When it was just big enough, he crouched low and shuffled the front half of his body inside. A lot of dirt fell from the ceiling, causing him to sneeze and recoil from the shock. Backing out of the hole he shook furiously to get the dirt from his fur and ears. The white was now dull and the purple markings he had were hardly noticeable. He sighed a little, realising that he'd need a bath soon.
He stopped shaking suddenly and looked straight ahead, sniffing the air. His ears strained for some sound. Finding none, he turned around slowly. Caecilius was sure that he'd heard something. His suspicions were confirmed whrn he turned to see a wolf sitting some ways from him.
His muscles tensed and his ears flattened against his head, all before he realised he was on pack land. Forcing himself to relax, he observed the other cautiously, not making any move to introduce himself.

'He's definitely new to this,' Alma thought to herself, noting the tensing of the male's body when turned and spotted her. He didn't make any introduction, but she wasn't going to be the one to make the first move. Instead, she appraised the mysterious newcomer. He was no small fellow, and he could almost pass for a wolf from far outside the valley if it weren't for the hints of purple in his coat. The same could definitely not be said for herself; Alma's coat was a rich pink and orange. Her markings were beautiful—at least that's what she had been told—but she always felt that she was dreadfully average in figure. In truth she was quite envious of the petite stature of her alphess, but she always did her best to carry herself in the most alluring manner she could.
Still silent, she gazed across the short distance at Caecilius, wondering what kind of wolf he was. Only a certain kind of evil was allowed into the Frigid Plague, something that Alma was thankful for. She had dealt with enough insane, bloodthirsty wolves growing up to last a lifetime. She preferred the company of evils who could manage to sit down and hold a conversation without needing to kill something at every ten minute interval, so the Frigid Plague was quite the round peg when it came to her taste and comfort.
Raising an eyebrow, the female refrained from speaking but gave no impression that she was about to attack, or anything vulgar like that. If he turned out to be boorish, the territory was large enough to avoid him well enough. But she hoped he would be someone worth talking to; even her thoughts grew bored of hearing themselves talk inside her head.

His posture seemed to radiate confidence which bordered on boastfulness. His keen eyes stared at the other wolf, examining her own position. She seemed to be waiting for him to speak first. The thought made him huff a little and his tail was moving slowly and low to the ground, his purple tipped ears held alert. He didn't consider her to be an immediate threat so he walked towards her figure slowly.
Then he walked straight past her to another promising den that lay behind her. Caecilius didn't have time for games when he wanted to find a place to sleep. He sniffed around the alcove made by deformed branches, digging a little at the dirt.

So that's how he was going to play it, huh? Alma's fur stood on end when he ignored her; it wasn't something she was expecting. Now would she have to lose the game by speaking up first? Calming herself down, she snuck a glance back at him and noticed to her advantage that the den he was now pawing at was none other than that of the alphess.
Getting up, she walked past him, brushing her tail against his flank ever so slightly, just enough to get his attention. Giving him a warning look, her eyes all but said 'you shouldn't be doing that.' Before she sat down again, facing away from him. Funny that she hadn't had a new wolf to talk to in ages, but now all she wanted to do was keep up her end of the silence for as long as possible. But the game was too fun now, at least for her.

Caecilius had half been expecting her to follow him so when her tail brushed against his side, the only sign that he was bothered was the flick of his own tail. He continued sniffing, glancing up at her only briefly to glare. When she didn't move, he huffed lightly and turned away. Walking briskly he climbed over a few rocks to look around from the higher up vantage point. Of course, he couldn't see much due to the trees but it was a bit better than being on the floor.
He took this opportunity to look down at the wolf that was so persistent in bothering him. She had quite an attractive coat; much better than his own. He looked away from her, a small smirk on his face as he continued to look for a suitable den. Having an impressive appearance didn't mean she would be all that impressive personality-wise.

His visual appraisal didn't escape her in the slightest. Alma more or less knew that she was attractive, and she had used this to her advantage on a few occasions. She doubted this would be one of them. Their little game was fun, but she was starting to grow tired of it. She was curious to know who this newcomer was.
"It's been a while since I've seen an unfamiliar face," she said, breaking the silence, "Although perhaps you've been here for quite a while. It's such a big place, you never know. Although judging by the fact that you were just digging at the alphess' den, I'd guess you're new here."

He huffed a little under his breath, turning around to look at the wolf. So now she speaks. The thought made him smirk; looks like he held out the longest. Caecilius thought it was only polite to reply, however, so he sat down and looked down at her from his perch.
"You'd be assuming correctly by thinking I'm new." He looked away, ears flicking slightly, before returning his attention to her. "I'm just trying to find a den; I wasn't aware that it was taken."

She noticed his smirk, but didn't let any sort of reaction show on his face. She'd go ahead and act like he was the only one aware of their game. She smiled, but the corners of her mouth were tight and her eyes narrowed, "Alma. I am of no noteworthy position, so unless Perjury has begun handing out ranks like candy, that makes us equals here. Do you have a name, newcomer?"

She seemed blunt and to the point. It was somewhat refreshing. Standing up, he jumped down from his previous spot so that he was on the same level as Alma.
"Caecilius." He knew that his short replies were rude. It wasn't that he disliked the company, it was more that he was busy and maybe a little tired. "Do you have any suggestions as to where I could find a place to stay? You seem to know your way around a lot better than I do." As much as he hated asked for help, it would save him some time. If she was willing, that is.

"Caecilius? Bit of a mouthful, isn't it?" She stood, meeting him at eye level, "I'd be happy to help." She smiled, glad to be the one in the position of relative power, however slight it was. Looking around the den area, she spotted her own former den. It had served her well, but she had abandoned it a few months ago in favor of something with a better view. Caecilius looked like a practical guy; maybe it would suit him. The den had been filled in a bit from weather and lack of upkeep, but it wouldn't take much digging to return it to its former glory. "That one." She said, pointing to it with her nose, "That one will be just fine."

He sniffed slightly at her comment; knowing that his name was long but not wanting to be reminded of the fact. His facial expression never changed but he nodded to her to show that he was happy for the help when she pointed out a den. Walking over to it, he circled the place a few times to find out how much upkeep would be needed before looking up at her. "Thanks." He sat down at the entrance and tilted his head to the side.
The other wolf could provide him with interesting company, he had decided. "It'll do, indeed." His tail curled around to lay over his front paws. "How long have you been a part of this pack then?"

Alma shrugged. How long indeed? Her past life was never far from her memory, but it felt like she hadn't seriously feared being hunted down in quite a while. Still, the memory of running across the plains in the night was so vivid. She could still feel the dew clinging to her legs as she bolted across the meadow.
"Not long." She said finally, "Two seasons, a little more maybe. Although a few in the pack are newer than me; the Frigid Plague has undergone something of a renaissance." She looked curiously at Caecilius, "So, what brought you to us?"

He listened to her with his ears perked but not looking her way. The pause beforehand was a little unnerving and he almost breathed out in relief when she spoke. Caecilius nodded his head slowly, busying himself with digging at the entrance.
"Why..." He paused in his digging for a small amount of time, before huffing a little and carrying on. "I was alone."
The wolf was digging with more force than normal, trying not to remember the feeling of those days he spent alone. He thought maybe asking in return would take his mind off of it. "What about you?"
