The Sunrise of the Pack {Claiming Thread}

Blaise:

A she-wolf paused as she sniffed the ground. Then she bent to take a whiff of the ground. This was it, the border. "We're here!" Blaise said lifting her head and turning to see the rest of her companions. They were the claiming party of Secluded Sunrise. This was soon to be their territory. Her purple eyes flicked over the wolves. Tear and Ramone were the Gammas of the pack. It'd been Ramone who'd wanted to form the pack, but he hadn't wanted to be Alpha. He and his mate preferred to be Gammas. Then there was Hawthorne. The black male fit his position of Beta perfectly. No one had questioned what his rank would be. The same had been the case for Foxtrot. He'd shown leadership from the first moment that he'd met the rest of the pack. No wonder he'd been chosen to be Alpha.

Blaise's own rank was what worried her. She was to be the Alphess. She still wasn't sure if she fit the position. Yet still she'd promised herself to devote her life to Secluded Sunrise. She'd fill the space of Alphess best she could. Blaise just hoped it was enough. "Is everyone here and ready?" she called as the wolves began to emerge from the woods. Blaise longed to lift her head in the howl that would claim this territory. The border seemed to ask for the sound. It was no wonder since newcomers would howl to join the pack and since Sapling Grove needed to be claimed. Though it hadn't been empty long, Secluded Sunrise would fill this territory with the bustle of wolves.

She huffed, excited to finally get the pack started. Picking up her pace, she fell in beside Blaise. "You'll be fine. You're already doing great." She said softly before falling slightly behind again. It wasn't hard to tell that the other female was nervous. After all, she was going to be an Alphess! She offered a smile, in case she turned around and looked around them. The border didn't seem that long so patrolling wouldn't be too hard. That was nice. But their pack might be confined in the medium space. Ah, oh well. It gave them enough space to grow.

The party started as Ramone arrived on scene, his usually half smirk, half grin in place. His blue ringed tail was relaxed in a loop behind him, ears perked forward, tongue perking out between his fangs slightly. He was of course very goofy, but that didnt mean he couldn't take charge. In fact he was very good at his job. But just because he had authority didn't mean he couldn't have fun while he had it.

The black, gold and blue male slid onto the border and bumped his shoulder against Tear's. "Wassup Beautiful?" He whispered gruffly. He did so just because he knew it annoyed her. Ramone swatted her tail with his own and pranced away lightly.

Hawthorne followed behind the other three at a slower pace. His ears flicked backwards occasionally before returning to their original position, creating a short blur of white as they did so. He felt that being on lookout at the back was something he needed to do whilst they walked to the border. He didn't want to be jumped by some random stranger at such an important moment as the one approaching.

He stopped moving when those in front did, looking up at the alphess. Already here, huh. Moving from his position at the back, the black wolf stood a little closer to Blaise - still at a respectable distance though. He directed his calm gaze at her, waiting for what was going to happen next.

Blaise:

The alphess looked around at the wolves that had arrived. There was someone missing. Foxtrot, the alpha, wasn't there. Where was he? They hadn't been moving too fast that he wouldn't be able to keep up. Perhaps something had happened tip him. Blaise's anxiety grew as the minutes ticked on. Still nothing. "Have you seen Foxtrot?" she asked Hawthorne. Her voice couldn't hide the worry that was eating at her.

As her purple gaze focused on the beta, Blaise tried not to think of how Hawthorne would be a better alpha than she would. Thinking like that wouldn't get her anywhere, even though it might be true. Blaise hadn't known these wolves for long, but she felt like she belonged among them. There was still no sign of Foxtrot. "Should I howl for him? Or maybe I should howl for another pack member, we need five wolves to claim Sapling Grove and Foxtrot was our fifth..." Blaise was in a dilemma. She wanted to form the pack and she wanted to find Foxtrot, but she couldn't do both at the same time. Maybe it was best to form the pack first. Then this territory would be safe and Blaise wouldn't have to worry too much about rival wolves attacking the missing or lost alpha.

Tear scowled at Ramone and lifted a paw to swat him over the ear. Instead, when her swing only met air, she hopped to her feet and gave a grin. The brown she wolf stalked to where her mate was and leaned her own shoulder on his. Throwing her weight against him, she back away out of here. "Oh, nothing much..." She teased. Unfortunately a voiderp snapped her from their small game. Huh. Blaise was right, Foxtrot wasn't here. That would be odd seeing as he had been the one to take full initiative when they arrived. A friendly face, poked at the back of her head and she tossed out a suggestion."You could call Rainbow or I can go get her." Tear said.

It wasn't that bad of an idea, really. Rainbow was still a member of the pack which made her a valid wolf to help claim the lands. Though she had been a bit distant lately. Nonetheless a wolf was needed and that's what was important. She mentally sighed. She was starting to sound like Foxtrot. Tear stretched out her legs and she felt them quiver. As she straightened up, she looked back to Blaise.

Hawthorne turned his head towards the alphess, tilting his head slightly to listen to what she was asking him. When he acknowledged her words, the black wolf turned around - eyes searching for the alpha. Blaise was right; he wasn't there. Not yet, anyway.

He wagged his tail slowly, low to the ground, as he turned back around to face her. He considered briefly before speaking. "I didn't see him following us. I just assumed that he was up ahead with you - I really should have double checked." He bowed his head, a little ashamed that he didn't notice that small detail. "I wouldn't worry though." Hawthorne lifted his head up once more, a confident smile on his face. "Foxtrot is capable. He's alpha for a reason, after all."

His smile softened slightly. "And so are you, Blaise. You're alphess for a reason." He looked around at the other two wolves present, still speaking. "It's your call what we do about claiming the territory; to wait or to call for another pack member." Hawthorne stood back a pace and sat down, waiting for the other wolf to come to a decision.

Electro looked around. No Ruko. Then he saw Blaise, Hawthorne, Ramone, and Tear. Electro thought about whether or not to tell them. Electro finally decided to tell them. "Hey guys have you seen Ruko, He kinda disappeared." Electro nervously looked at them hoping they wouldn't get mad. They're probably gonna thing its all my fault then I'll be in really big trouble. Electro continued worrying about the consequences. Electrobolt couldn't help but think about how angry they were gonna be. Well I'd better not complain it sorta is my fault. Electro then prepared for the punishment that he was gonna feel.

Blaise:

Her purple gaze flicked from Tear to Hawthorne as the two of them spoke. Blaise thought about her next step. Hawthorne's words eased some of Blaise's worry, but still, why was it taking so long for Foxtrot to arrive. Maybe she should focus more on claiming the territory. She nodded at Tear as she spoke her decision, "Claiming the the territory is our top priority at the moment. If Foxtrot got lost or something, we can't be sure that we're safe from enemy wolves until we've claimed Sapling Grove as our own. Tear, you go find Rainbow, or Electro or anybody that's willing to come. The rest of us can patrol the borders. Perhaps Foxtrot's just at a different part of the border..." Blaise paused as a new voice reached her ears.

The alphess turned as to see Electrobolt trotting towards them. At first, relief flooded Blaise as the final wolf they needed to claim the territory approached. Then his words sunk in and Blaise's worry flared up again. Wolves were disappearing. Maybe there was someone or something making them disappear. Blaise shivered at the thought of an unknown danger lurking in the shadows of her new home. The she-wolf flicked her tail in annoyance at herself. There was no reason to conjure up some creature that wasn't really there. It was probably just Ruko being adventurous. Blaise sighed and looked at Electro. There was guilt in every corner of the young wolf's face. She frowned slightly, as a new possibility sprung up. She shoved it away, resolving to keep a close eye on Electro, and spoke again, "We'll search for Ruko and Foxtrot after this territory is claimed. No need to search for one of our packmates, Tear. Electro, here, can be our final wolf."

Hawthorne listened diligently as Blaise made her decision. He glad to find that her priorities were the same as his own, it made him feel as though he would feel at home in the pack once their territory was claimed. Electro arriving was a little bit of a surprise but the only indication he gave of acknowledging the other wolf was tilting his head in his direction briefly before turning back to their alphess. The idea of missing wolves, pups especially, was unsettling, to say the least. He frowned a little but set his shoulders firm - they needed to claim their territory - just like Blaise had said.

The black wolf walked a little closer to the others, looking around at their surroundings for any unwelcome presence. Despite Electro's bad news, it was good that he had come when he had.

Ramone listened to all this, ears pricked. He stepped forward from the semi-circle of wolves. "After the claiming, I shall put together a search party immediately for the wolves that have gone missing. As well as notify any drifters in our new territory that we have settled." Ramone was surprised by his own nobility and so continued in a sifter awed voice. "But fur now, let us claim and set scent markers." The black, blue and gold male turned his vibrant tangerine eyes to Blaise. He would raise his head and howl on her cue.

Ramone swished his tail over to touch Tear's flank as if to say: our dream is finally coming true.

Tear and gone and started to stand up at her Alpha's command, but when she was informed Electrobolt had arrived and the news he brought, her eyes widened. She ended up sitting closer to Ramone and felt his tail on her side. She offered a sheepish smile, but she was still concerned. Akheron and Amora had gone missing as well. As far as she knew, Akheron was gone forever, but she refused to give up hope on little Amora. Giving up hope, would accept defeat and she wasn't going to let a pup disappear. Especially not when she had hopes on raising her own pups later in the future.

Electrobolt looked at all the wolves looking at him. Electro listened to everything everyone had to say. Need to claim territory, inform, search. "um ok, I guess," Electro said in reply. "Should we go now, or...," Electro trailed off. Electrobolt had a lot on his mind. What will they afterward? He wondered. I gotta focus, so I shouldn't think about the reaction they will have later. "Better keep an eye out though in case we pass by Ruko or any other wolves right?" Electro said. Hoping that no one would dismiss his idea immediately Electro tried to shove out unimportant thoughts.

Blaise:

The soon-to-be-alphess nodded in agreement as Ramone spoke. "A search party will be perfect." She looked at Electro as he spoke. He seemed nervous and distracted. She smiled patiently, "First we'll claim." Blaise sucked in a soft breath. Now was the moment. The moment that this pack found its roots. Blaise had heard of many packs which rose and fell. She wished to lead Secluded Sunrise to last for generations.

Her voice pierced the air. The howl held a tone of strength and determination. Blaise's breath misted the air above her as she awaited the other's voices to join the song that claimed this territory as their home. Determination to dwell here as long she lived filled Blaise. Secluded Sunrise was rising.

Ramone nodded his head at Blaise. It seemed that she had accepted her role, the uncertainty washed away to reveal a regal Alphess. Ramone smiled at Tear and then he too raised his maw to the sky, jaws gaping open in his coyote style howl. His vivid exotic voice arched upwards in contrast with Blaise's graceful tone. His pitch rose and then fell, his voice becoming richer.

Through the duration of the howl, Ramone seemed to be carried away on a wind. It was like he was somewhere outside if his body. Emotions too large to be contained in such a small mortal frame. He howled and howled, knowing that this was the start that he needed. Together withTear and the rest, their pack would flourish and thrive!
