Ruko:
The ashy male backed away a step as the vines attacked. He snapped at the plants, effectively cutting apart a few with his teeth. They started wrapping around him, but Ruko refused to be anchored under Amora's power. He strained against the vines. A couple more of the ropes broke. His furious cyclone whirled to aid Ruko in his escape by attacking Amora. It whipped at her fur with its winds and pelted her with the large amount of dirt and clay it'd picked up from Ruko's digging. Meanwhile Ruko was pulling apart vines as they tried pulling him towards the pit. The vines didn't take too much strength to break. Though Ruko only needed moderate pressure to break them, he was struggling with all his might. The roots before had caught him offguard and were slightly thicker since Amora had spent time toughening them up. Now Ruko was able to snap through many of the vines wrapping around him. Only a couple remained. They were binding his legs. With a vicious tug, Ruko was swept off his paws. The few vines towing him towards the pit weren't enough to pull Ruko much more than a foot. Then the vines froze and loosened slightly. Ruko pulled himself free of the vines and stumbled to his feet out of the plants' reach.
He snarled at Amora, but the sound broke in his throat as he noticed a wolf standing on the sidelines. A word of greeting left the stranger's muzzle, but Ruko didn't listen as his molten eyes were still focused on Amora. She was perched atop several vines that rose above the ground. Ruko's energy flowing towards the whirlwind had not diminished while he was battling the plants. It still attacked Amora unless she'd found someway to get rid of the cyclone. Though Ruko couldn't think of a way, himself. The dust devil was only wind and dirt. Ruko galloped towards where the vines that held Amora up were secured to the ground. He zig-zagged back and forth in his attempts to dodge what new plant sprung up to stop his sprint towards Amora.

Nico coked his head, ears rotating and nose working overtime. The male was good at what he did. The female seemed more likely to try to keep him from useing his power. Nico padded next to the male, snapping at a vine. Effectivly breaking it. "I'm Nico." he said, not really wanting a reply. Nico sometimes hated wolves no matter what they did. The only reason he wasn't attacking was because this male was a bit like him. Just not blind. Nico pinned his ears, and a soft growl came. He hated his pack for making him fight to the death. Even if he had just barely lived.

Amora gasped in pain as her power flared dangerously. Her vines retracted underneath her. Coiling into thick cords ringed in dagger sharp thorns. A head splitting ache flared through her skull and Amira screamed. Ruko's winds ripped at her, larger ricks barreled into her; bruising her flesh and cutting at her skin. Amora was flung off her feet by a violent torrent of air and fell through the air and hit the ground with a sickening chrunch. Pain ricocheted through her, pounding around her leg as Amira's power flickered and died, vines withering around her in dusty husks. Amora's purple eyes were clamped shut, her sides heaving, her front right leg twisted at an odd angle.
The sleek shewolf, the spitting image of her mother lay broken at the feet of her brother and a similar wolf. With a shuddering breath and a cough, Amora opened her jaws to speak. "While you blame me for being like father, you are the one who more closely resembles him in both spirit and appearance." With that Amora ceased to speak. She was still very much alive but too full of pain and exhaustion to fight. Let Ruko think he killed her! It served that brute right! What a monster he had become.

Ruko:
Ruko had nodded his thanks to the wolf who aided him, but by the blank look in Nico's eyes, Ruko wasn't sure if the male had seen. He now raced towards the vines holding Amora up. He skidded to a stop as the vines' surfaced became thicker and covered in thorns. Amora's scream of pain echoed in his ears. Sudden fear filled his features as he looked up at Amora, balancing atop the vines. She was swaying back and forth as the vines beneath her writhed. His whirlwind was pushing her even more off-balance. She fell.
The crack sounded louder than thunder. Ruko winced as his sister crashed into the ground several feet away. Every one of his heartbeat resounded in his head as tears began to pour from his golden eyes. The fire in them was extinguished. The young male rushed to her side. "Amora? Please do be dead, Amora!" She coughed and spoke. The words stung more than any bite. Ruko recoiled, anger rekindling with that sentence. "I'm not Dad!" he shouted, but Amora lay still. He bent over her, anxiety and regret struggling against the rage. He hesitated, then shook her with an outstretched paw. Nothing. His feelings for Amora overcame any fury he'd felt. "Amora... no, I'm sorry. Don't go! You can't go. Please! I'm sorry, I... I... I'm not Dad... his voice was desperate growing softer with every word, "No... please... I never meant to... I would never hurt you, not on purpose." Ruko's manner was more like a pup now than the angry monster who'd attack Amora. His eyes were wide, almost innocently naive. Tear were streaming down his face as he collapsed and buried his head in his sister's fur. "Please don't leave me..." he whispered between sobs, "It's all my fault, I'm sorry. It's all my fault."

Nico's tail twitched. The pup just got a taste of the real world. He felt a snarl rise in him. Wait, was the pup crying? Nico felt the snarl dissipate. He padded up, and nosed her. He felt a pulse under his nose, as he nosed her on the neck. Clever pup. he thought. He sat, and yawned. Not realley wanting to ruin the little she-wolf's fun. "If you want to keep anyone you care about alive, don't go all out on them." he recommended. His ruined eyes seemed to look in the direction that Nico had last herd Ruko's voice.

Amora listened to her brother shriek and sob. Wow. Was she really that great of an actor? The mischievous shewolf inside her fought the urge to smirk impishly. But the kinder one was filled with remorse. Was she being cruel for fooling him, for making him cry? Amora tensed slightly as the newcomers snotty cold nose pressed her neck, the feeling made her skin crawl as if it was infested with weevils and worms. But she wasn't that hurt, right? She wasn't going to die. Her leg was only.....
Amora risked to open her purple eye and saw it. And threw up.
Her leg was twisted the entirely wrong way, white bone plunging through flesh to erupt from her leg into the air. Amora wondered shy she hadn't fainted yet... She then blew her cover, she lifted her head to stay out of the vomit. That meant she had to get out of there. What started out as a family reunion and test of strengths ended as a battle that took Amora's leg. Unless she made the perilous climb to white magic, Amora would end up losing this leg. In a moment if panic she ran. When she ran it was a surprisingly fast three legged hobble as her front right leg bounced excruciatingly around in front. Panting, foam at the edges of her mouth, Amora fled.

Ruko:
"Amora?" His shaky voice sounded in the air as Amora convulsed. Bile erupted from her maw and she lifted her head. "You're not dead!" His words were still shaky but now their tone was more joyful. Was she going to be alright now? Ruko stepped back as his sister struggled to her feet. "Are you okay? Amora, I... I can h..." Ruko cut himself off as he saw it. Amora's leg was ruined. He felt like vomiting himself, but swallowed back the nausea. The young male closed his eyes to block out the image of the horrifying leg. The sound of Amora's scuffling pawsteps caused Ruko's golden eyes to open almost immediately. His sister seemed panicked. She fled like her life depended on it. "No, I'm sorry! Come back!" Was it because of him? Was she afraid of him now? Had he caused that to happen to her leg? The answer resounding in Ruko's mind was yes. Guilt flooded him mixed with something else, betrayal? Why would he feel betrayed?
Then it clicked. The disappearing form of Amora was moving faster than any near dead wolf could manage. She'd faked it. She'd caused him more grief than Ruko had ever felt. The guilt sizzled away replaced by anger, but betrayal was the dominant emotion. Ruko took a couple steps forward as if to follow Amora, but she'd disappeared. Ruko swiveled around 180 degrees to face the forest. The wolf who'd watched the battle looked at him emptily. Ruko shivered as the wolf's gaze seemed to no be quite meeting his. What was left of his eyes was milky? The scar across his face intimidated Ruko. Someone had blinded this wolf, and Ruko wondered it he wanted revenge for it. The words he'd spoken earlier rung in Ruko's ears. This wolf, or Nico as he called himself, had wisdom of the world and knew of hurt and probably revenge. Maybe Ruko could earn some guidance from the older wolf. But he didn't want any of that know. He wanted a way to reverse time and make it so Amora wasn't hurt.

Nico coked his head. Then shook himself, and gave Ruko another empty look. "I know the feeling, kid." he said, voice tinted with bitterness. "So, what's your name and story?" he asked. He closed his eyes for a second, reliving the moment he had been blinded for the millionth time. His sister's paw swiping, and Snow's leap at her. He opened his eyes, but it made no difference. Nico had been told by the few wolves he had ever met that some color, barely visible, still lingered. Once, his eyes had been a light blue, tinted a nice silver. His fur had been much lighter, getting darker as his hatred grew. But his fur still remained silver. Sometimes, after someone told him this, it comforted Nico that his fur still had light silver clinging.( Rykett)

Ruko:
The bitter voice reached Ruko as if he was in a clouds floating miles above the earth. His golden eyes had fixed on the sky above. Angry tears rolled down his cheeks as he listened to Nico's words silently. How could this wolf just stand there and say he knew what Ruko was feeling? Nico had no idea! 'Nobody understands me! If Amora didn't understand, then how could Nico? I'm all alone.' Ruko lowered his head and wiped his eyes with a paw. Should he answer any of Nico's questions? The older wolf had helped him somewhat. After some deliberation, the young wolf straightened to look at Nico, "My name's Ruko and I should be going." Ruko padded past the blind wolf. His footfalls were slow and slightly uneven as the traumatizing event of the previous battle weighed on him.
His thought wandered and finally settled on thoughts of his mother. No sooner than her name had rushed through his mind, then a distant chorus of howls echoed of the eastern mountains. Ruko stopped short, his ears alert as the howls faded. Ruko would recognize the leading howl anywhere. Blaise, his mother, was now the alphess of a pack. The rest of voices weren't as familiar, but the young wolf was sure that they belonged to others of his pack. Mom would be searching for him now. If she hadn't realized he was missing by now, which was doubtful, then she would be frantic once he turned up missing from the den. An urge to rush home filled Ruko, but he hesitated. Amora certainly would've heard the howl and would be rushing back to the territory by now. She'd tell them what he'd done. She'd tell them what he'd said. He'd be exiled. No, Ruko would leave on his own terms. He was already out in the world and he wasn't going back. Ever.

Nico snorted. "You have no where to go, your family will never let you back. Your all alone in the world." he said. He looked at Ruko with a twinge of sympathy. Why am I trying to help this pup? he wondered. Nico shook himself to get rid of the feeling. It was not him to feel for others. That was a long lost time of his life when that had even crossed his mind. "Yha, the happened to me, slightly. My family made me fight to the death with my three siblings. My brother saved me, and I still kind of hate him for it. If my sister had her way, I would be dead." he said in a low growl.

Ruko:
His head was hung low as Nico spoke. Ruko listened, his own voice silent. The moments after Nico stopped talked stretched on a Ruko remained mute. Finally he sighed. It was a shaky breath that was followed by a sob. Ruko sat as another sob clutched him. Then his shoulders were heaving with sobs and with a raspy, unsteady voice he finally spoke, "You're right. I'm alone. I used to have Amora and Mom and the pack, but now they'll all hate me. I'm like your sister. I tried to kill Amora, and I almost succeeded. I can't do this anymore! I gave myself a mission when I got my power. I wanted to destroy worst bad guy I could think of. That guy is my dad. I still want to kill him, but I can't do it. I'm just a little pup who just pushed away anybody who could help me."
Ruko stood taking shaky breaths. He turned to look at Nico, "You understand that? Do you understand how I feel like killing, but at the same time I feel like if I do, I'll only doom myself to a life alone? Do you understand how it feels to be alone? Do you understand how it feels to know that nobody loves you anymore? Do you understand that?"

Nico sat and pondered. This pup was making him rethink his life. Finely, he sighed. "Yes, yes I do. Once, my family was great. My sister -the one who tried to kill me, I loved her. I loved my parents, I loved my entire pack. The only reason we were fighting was so the pack could pick out the strongest. I think it was my brother, but I don't hate him. I just hate wolves. You, I hate less. But put a wolf in front of me..." He stopped at this. A light snow began to fall, and it reminded him of his brother.

Ruko:
”You want revenge, though…” he said quietly, ”I want revenge, but… I… I… can’t just...” Ruko didn’t know exactly what he was trying to say as he attempted to straightened out his confused emotion. After another second of silence, he spoke again, ”No one else understands, but you do… Could you…” He hesitated considering his request before continuing, ”Could you help me? I could help you. We could find revenge, together.”
His golden eyes were still fixed on the blind wolf. Ruko found spark of hope in the deep despair that had engulfed him since the fight as his mind whirled around possibilities. He was inexperienced, but Nico could teach him to fight as well as many other things he couldn’t learn on his own. Maybe if he accomplished his mission, he would feel better, perhaps content. There was hope.

Nico perked up. He nodded, understanding Ruko's situation. He flicked his tail when Ruko asked him to help. Nico was a self-taught. He tended to trick an opponent into a trap. But Ruko didn't need to be a trickster. If the wolf he wanted revenge on was a cowered, as Ruko said he had been, Ruko's best bet was a frontal attack. Nico was no good at those unless the wolf was taunting him, giving Nico motive and location. "Based on what I know about your dad -which is only that he's a coward, I'm not the BEST wolf to go too. But I do know who can, if he accepts you." Nico said. His tail was still, and his ears pinned at the prospect of meeting the wolf that he talked of. Would he even recognize Nico? He shook it out of his head. Finding that wolf might be easy, if the howls were correct.

Ruko:
Panic overcame Ruko as Nico told of a wolf who might help. Nico knew Ruko’s struggle, but this wolf that Nico mention did not. He wouldn’t accept Ruko. Amora hadn’t and she was his sister. Ruko hesitantly voiced his concerns, ”But he… what if he wouldn’t accept me? He doesn’t understand like you do! Please, I need your help. I don’t want to be judged by a wolf who wouldn’t accept me.” Ruko looked down at his paws again. He hoped that Nico understood his panicked worries like he understood Ruko’s need for revenge. Ruko risked to gaze at Nico, again. The young wolf immediately noticed Nico's stiff body language. Did Nico not want to meet the wolf, either?
