Position descriptions
Alphas
Alphas stand as the leaders of the entire pack. They make most of the big decisions. Their top priority is to ensure the safety of the pack and its members. They handle accepting new members, banishing members that have displayed disloyalty or endangered the pack, promoting members to new ranks, and demoting members from ranks that don't suit them. They also manage the affairs with other packs e.g. alliances and the declaring of wars.
Betas
Betas are second-in-command. If the Alpha(s) is indisposed, the betas can assume Alpha duties. While the Alpha is in command, Betas provide advice and support. They handle hunts and oversee most of the trainee training.
Gammas
Gammas are third-in-command. If both the Alpha(s) and the Beta(s) are indisposed, the Gammas assume control. They are basically battle generals. They are strategists and command warriors and scouts.
Hunters
As their name suggests, hunters provide the food for the pack. They usually hunt within pack borders. The food they collect is gathered in a hole under a large, unusually scorched tree in the Canopied Clearing. They often make expeditions to the Hunting Plains. They report to the Beta(s) for these hunting expeditions.
Warriors
Warriors fight for the pack. They challenge trespassers and fight battles. When no battling is necessary, they spend their time strengthening their fighting tactics. They report to the Gamma(s) for instructions.
Scouts
Scouts patrol the border and the area slightly beyond it for suspicious activity. They learn the lay of the land around the territory and within the territory discovering the best places for hunting and the areas that'd prove most strategic in a battle. They report to the Gamma(s) with news of their findings.
Diplomats
Diplomats roam beyond the territory as they are sent on missions to other packs. Missions may include bargaining with other packs, forging alliances, and acting as messengers for the Alpha(s) towards other packs. During their journeys, they also search for loners that may want to join the pack. They report to the Alpha(s) for missions.
Trainers
Wolves must already be ranked in order to be trainers. Trainers instruct trainees in the way of their rank. Trainers are only trainers for the duration of four seasons i.e. the duration of their trainee's education. Wolves that wish to become trainers report to the Alpha to receive a trainee. After receiving a trainee, trainers continue to report to the Beta(s) as their trainees progress.
Trainees
This rank is mostly exclusive for young adults. They are apprentices to a wolf within their desired rank. They train for four seasons to become a fully ranked wolf in that rank. They first report to the Alpha(s) to gain a trainer. Part-time cases are worked out during this meeting. After being appointed to a trainer, they report to the trainer for training and mini-missions having to do with their desired rank. When there are no wolves within the trainees' desired rank, they train with the Beta(s).
Heirs
When a wolf is chosen to become the next alpha, beta, or gamma, they are temporarily demoted to trainees and train with the wolf that currently in possession of that rank. Their training can last as long as the ranked wolf deems necessary. Once their training is completed, the heirs stand in reserve for when the wolf of which rank they trained for dies or retires.
Part-times
Part-times are wolves who fulfill multiple positions at once or only do part of the responsibilities surrounding a rank.
Ancients
Ancients are the retired pack members. They have little responsibility and spend most of their time relaxing and chatting with other elders. They sometimes help care for pups and keep the pups busy with stories. They pass on legends and knowledge to the other wolves. They are highly respected by all members of the pack.
Ranks are subject to change.
Promotion Procedure
In order for your wolf to be considered for promotion, they must have completed at least two (or three depending on the length) threads as a Secluded Sunrise subordinate. You may take two paths to rank your wolf, IC or OOC. If you would like your wolf to be ranked IC, they must prove themselves a good pack member to the alpha(s) then the alpha will offer them a promotion. This may take some time depending on the task by which your wolf attempts to prove themselves. To rank your wolf OOC, simply PM the player(s) of the alpha(s) to discuss your wolf's promotion.
