Heavy paws padded across the wastelands as the wolf traveled, his red eyes shifting rapidly and ears perked. It seemed that the area was dead, but the indistinguishable scent of wolves was heavy in the air. The whole situation was odd to the loner, why would anyone live in such a dump? Swan scrunched his nose as he crossed what must have been the border as the air suddenly became thick with the scent of wolves. The loner grunted as he quickly pranced a few paces away from the border, going deeper into the territory.

The scent of wolves didn't appeal to Swan very much, especially wolves he didn't know. The loner sneezed a few times, laying down on a patch of grass to wrap his paws around his snout and wipe his face. He sneezed again when some dirt got into his nostrils. The situation was incredibly unpleasant, but Swan signed up for this when he left home. Still, it was hard when there wasn't anything familiar by sight nor scent. Swan didn't know where he was going nor did he know how to get back. 

Swan rolled in the small patch of grass he laid on, hoping to mask his scent from any wolf who happened to be around. It wouldn't help if someone saw him, but it may help him if his scent was picked up. Swan stood up once again, shaking the dirt from his fur and perked his ears. He took one more look at his surroundings before he continued on. Going deeper into the land he wasn't invited into.

Dancer had been passing through the area since she had just left the ruins when she scented a wolf that didn't smell like the evil and cruel wolves that belonged to the pack of Midnight Silence. She had watched him and she felt the tips of her mouth curl when he outsmarted the basic knowledge that most wolves obeyed. When he got up, it shocked her as he moved even farther in. Didn't the loner have enough of a taste from their land? Did he not know who resided within those very borders that he had rolled in and intruded?

In a slight panic, she danced forward, no pun intended. She stopped at the border, not wanting to meet the fate the other loner might. The pink she wolf on the other hand was good and she would now be tolerated one bit, by Alpha Fjord. Instead, she tried to use her power and felt vines clumsily slide across the grass at a decent pace. Four reached up at a weak strength and two held to his hind legs and the other two crossing his chest. The vines were extremely weak and would break if he tried to pull away.

She barked quietly, her voice was probably quiet even to the stranger who wasn't that far away. "What do you think you're doing?! They'll kill you if they find you!" Dancer was pretty close to being frantic. Her vines gave a slight tug back towards the border as she stood there, wide-eyed. This isn't a good idea. What he's just as bad as them and he attacks me for invading in on his privacy. All the doubts that Dancer had, rushed her all in that one single moment. More than ever, her vines trembled and fell before loathing on again.

Swan kept walking cautiously. He didn't want to alert the pack wolves living in that area, he had enough trouble with finding prey and didn't need a whole pack after him too. However, before the loner could walk any farther he tripped on a... vine? Staggering as he tried to find his footing once again, Swan looked down at his paws. It was strange to him as the loner had not seen any type of vine in the wastelands he was in. Swan pulled a paw away, noticing how weak the vines were and how they'd wrap around him again as he planted his paw on the ground once again.

"Odd..." Swan commented, he hadn't seen anything like this.

The lone wolf jerked his head back up as he heard someone running at him. Or more like dancing as Swan noticed a lavender she-wolf running at him. He stopped, allowing the vines to wrap around him as he waited the stranger to come near. He tilted his head slightly at her words. So she was a loner too, like him.

"Not if I don't kill them first." Swan smirked, watching her very carefully. After a moment, the wolf chuckled darkly and continued. "I was searching for food, I'm new to this area but I thought I could at least catch a mouse..." he explained "But other than wolves this place seems... dead." he frowned a little. What kind of dim-witted leader did this pack have to claim a dead territory? After the tug, Swan shook himself, pulling his legs away from the vines and nosed the she-wolf's shoulder.

"What are you doing here other than wrapping your friends all over me?" he asked with a smirk. "I'm assuming the vines are yours?"

Dancer felt herself let out a meager sigh of relief when her vines held long enough to hold the male in place for her to reach the border. When he went on in the fact that'd he'd kill them first, she shook her head. "It isn't that simple. There are quite a few of them and they're all bloodthirsty. They chose this place to start off small and grow before taking over higher places, by the way." When he slid closer to her, she nearly flinched and her vines retracted into the ground below her, her flower mark ending it's aggressive glow on her right shoulder.


Slightly uncomfortable, she stepped away and responded to his question. While she did so, a dull grey rose to match the other wolf's base coat color, sprang from the ground. "Yes. They are." She plucked it and dropped it on the male's black nose before letting it shrivel and wither. "I, on the other hand had wished to keep my pelt intact and on my body." She huffed and continued her ramble, "If you ask me, keeping four legs would be nice too." She rolled her dull blue eyes at the though of it. It was truly gruesome to her.

Mike had been sleeping quite peacefuly. Until a noise woke him up. He growled, dark green eyes flashing. His ear flicked, and the thing that had made the noise was a frog. Mike, absent minded, pinned it under a paw. His ears perked to the sound of talking. He knew Midnight Silence resided nearby, but Mike wasn't that stupid. Not to mention the fact he was entitled as a alpha, even former, to respect another pack's boundary. He looked at the frog. He looked at the border, then back at the frog, and he ate the frog.

Mike padded forward, dark green eyes flashing in the mist. The wolves were in sight now, a lavender female and a gray male. Mike himself had blood red fur with black brindle, decorated with meany scars. He didn't intend to look so, but he gave the appearance of being an evil wolf. He raised his head, feeling like this was a bad idea. He wouldn't stand a chance against the younger wolves, if they were evil. Mike was getting on the older side of the river. He decided ask them what the heck they were doing and if they wanted to keep their skin and limbs. "Hello, might I be any help, once you two get away from that border."

"Interesting..." Swan replied as he watched the rose grow and then wither in what seemed like seconds. It perked his interest alright, he had never seen power like this. Swan had heard the stories from his parents but they had never gone to the mountains to get powers of their own. They were happy to live simple lives. "What's the purpose of the vines?" He asked, genuinely curious. He sneezed as the flower on his nose wilted, allowing it to fall to the ground.

Swan frowned as the she-wolf got a little mellodramatic. "I didn't ask." He huffed, his ears pulling back. His injured ear flopping to the side. "But, being the gentle male that I am... I'll guide you back to the border to get away from the spooky wolves that aren't here ooooo." Swan teased, laughing at the she-wolf. "I'm Swan." He added as he attempted to shepard the lavender female back towards the border.

Swan stopped when he heard another wolf. If it was a pack wolf, he was in big trouble. Though the young male was pretty sure he could fight off an enemy he'd admit that running head first into danger wasn't something he wanted to do.

Swan lifted his tail assertively and stared at the brindle male, watching him as Swan's fur bristled a little.
"I'm looking for food." Swan called after the maLe finally after a moment.

Dancer put up a slight protest against the male's gentle pushing and nipped his shoulder at his snarky remark, but ended up just going with it, even though they were extremely close to the border. "Name's Dancer. I grabbed you with vines so I didn't had to follow too far after you. " It startled her when a voice piped up and questioned them. She hadn't expected much company. She froze slightly and turned to stand closer to Swan out of natural reflex. She relaxed again when he was on the outside of Midnight Silence's borders.

She smirked when Swan answered and replied with her own, "Attempting to keep this idiot alive and in one peice." She glanced at the red newcomer before slowly crossing the border, wanting to gag at the stomach-churning stench of the border markings. The actual borders smelled far worse than Swan, who had rolled in it. She would have commented on this, but decided against it. The other wolf didn't smell of any specific pack so she assumed he was a loner like the other two of them. She felt herself soften some more and paced back and forth in a calm manner. She had always paced whether she was bored, angry, or nervous. In this case, it was more of a bore situation instead.

Mike looked at Swan. "Unless you want to end up dead. Haven't you ever herd of Fjord? Or Edge? Look, lets all talk about this away from the border." Mike said, red fur bristling with agitation. The power mark on his flank glowed. Mike sniffed around. Stale wolf sents, the most recent an hour old. Mike looked around with awareness, no one but the male, the female, and him."We have some time, lets try to keep things quick." Mike said in a hurried tone. He was pretty sure he could get them away if he acted like an alpha, but that would hold no effect. They were loners.

"No, not really." Swan replied, frowning as he began to get tired of explaining how he was new in the area. He kept his hackles raised until the other male began glowing with a strange light. He lowered his tail and shook his fur to smooth it out again. Swan didn't know what powers the brindle had and he didn't want it to be unleashed on himself if the other male was dangerous.

"Fine, let's talk." Swan replied, walking ahead, swatting his tail in Dancer's face for calling him an idiot. He pranced ahead, crossing the unpleasant smelling border back into unclaimed territory. Free territory for the loners. Though if the trio stuck together maybe they could create a pack of their own... Swan looked over at the other wolves. Dancer didn't seem too powerful with her weak vines, but the other male... his powers were a mystery to Swan. And Swan didn't have any powers of his own.

"So? Let's talk." Swan said as he laid down on another patch of grass, watching the two wolves. Though he watched Dancer a bit more closely.

"If I may speak first... What's with all the powers? I thought wolves with super natural abilities were only in stories mothers tell their pups." Swan frowned. "Also are there any fish in this valley?" He looked at the two of them carefully. "And why do you two care so much about little old me? I mean, I know I'm quite the catch, bUT there must be ulterior motives..." he smirked.

Dancer snapped her jaws at his tail as he walked past, but missed and gave him an unpleasant look when he flopped onto the ground. "Powers? That's simple. There was a mighty wolf that was all white with rainbow eyes and was immortal. She had three pups, one evil, one good, and a neutral. Those three give powers to wolves of their alignment that they find worthy. The power I got was Botany." The lavender she wolf somewhat ranted, but at least it was somewhat informational. She shrugged and padded over to Swan and poked him with a black paw.

"There are fish in Amoux Creek, Kai Lake, and the Constructed Oasis. You could probably find some in any pond you see." It was a fairly idiotic question to her, but she supposed a lot of things were different than outside of the mountain range. When he questioned them she flinched. At least, she flinched mentally. Her heart rate sped up a bit and she stumbled for in answer. Instead of showing her dilemma, she sat down beside him and glanced down at Swan. She really didn't know why she seemed to care so much about him and when she answered, it sounded more like a question. "I'd rather not have a stranger's blood on my hands?"

Mike nodded when Dancer explained about powers. "What she said, and I have Awareness." he said. Mike sat down, his tail curling over his paws. His dark green eyes were different from most valley wolves. He started panting from the heat. His fur was ment to deal with harsh, mountainous winters. Not warm summers. Mike nodded again when Dancer explained where the fish were. He had been here about two years, maybe three. Mike coked his head about motives. "I'm a wolf who lost his pack and family, and wants to help someone else. In other words, because I'm nice." he said in a flat tone. It was suddenly like talking to an idiot. Mike recalled something Rollan had once told him. "Never look a gift elk in the mouth."

Swan watched the two wolves, a wicked smile forming on his lips. Well then, wasn't he lucky? Two of the valley's nicest wolves decided to lend him a paw. This would be very interesting, especially the female. Maybe he could use them, three wolves were enough to bring down a sickly elk. Swan would have to share but it wasn't like they were going to feed an entire pack.

"Well, aren't you two a pair of goodie-two-paws." Swan said "There aren't many wolves out there like you two." He quickly added. At least there wasn't where Swan came from. But back then he belonged to a family unit, a small pack. They had territory to protect and here Swan was on the other side of those fights.

"Why don't we have a bit of an alliance?" Swan asked, watching them both closely.

"We're all loners from the looks of it, I don't know about you but I'm sick of eating small prey, together we could bring down something larger to fill our bellies." Swan pointed out, looking at both the male and Dancer. His gaze lingered on Dancer for a moment before he continued. "And maybe... if we're lucky... other loners will see us, join us, and then we could take down even larger prey or more than one prey." And then they could take over the valley and maybe even the mountain. Swan smiled at the thought, he'd live on as a founder of a pack in history. The next best thing in becoming immortal.

"What do you say? We all get food, scratch each other's backs..." Swan asked, looking from Dancer to the other male. "And you get a pack to replace the one you lost." He added.

Swan paused for a moment, staring at the male. "By the way, what's your name? I'm Swan."

Dancer had kept a face of seriousness, until he called them goodies. She laughed. "Just because I'm of good alignment doesn't mean I'm here to serve. I drowned someone in cold blood and haven't felt guilty about it. ANd what you're saying is, we're forming a band of loners." She inquired, giving Swan an interested look. She had't been this talkative around any other wolf in a really long time, usually ending up away from other wolves. Although, the point that Swan was making had seemed quite logical to her and hoped he wouldn't be a jerk if they helped.

She nodded slightly to them and watched the red wolf closely. Her body had suddenly poured all of her trust in Swan, even though she hardly knew him, but she felt a small bit of distrust towards the newcomer. They hadn't met before, but then again, she had never seen Swan before either. Yet she trusted the grey and black wolf with her heart, soul, and life. She sighed in her head and looked over their surroundings. They were clear of the borer, though she supposed that enemy wolves could still pick a fight with them if they wanted to.

Mike nodded. He liked the idea, and he was really a pack wolf. He was not at all meant to be a loner. Mike looked at Dancer, and gave her a quirky smile. "So you both might trust me a bit more, my name is Mike." he said, bowing his head. He sat, dark green eyes soft and kind. "Everyone is guilty of some evil," he said, addressing Dancer. He remembered his own pack and how many lives had been taken because of him. Mike wondered if his pups would like to join. "I have a son and daughter who may like to join us." Mike said. Rollan would like being in a pack quite a lot. Sharia might as well.

Swan stared at the two wolves for a long moment. These too might be just as bad as him, and the only kills he ever made was when he went out hunting. The grey and black wolf stood up once again, shaking his fur to realign them once again. Uncertainty came across his face when he heard Mike had pups, more sharing, but that also meant they could take down even bigger prey. Swan's smirk came across his face once again after he reassured himself, keeping his tail pointed high and assertive.

"A daughter, huh? Sounds like you have competition, Dancer." He chuckled and nipped at her scruff, a good intention jibe. He had no plans on chasing females. If anything, Swan wanted the she-wolves to chase him instead. He turned his attention towards Mike once again, tilting his chin up. "Well, Mike, you know where they are, right? Lead the way and we'll pick them up." Swan said as he waited for the father to move.

Swan didn't know his way around the valley just yet, he was happy enough to follow someone just to get to know the lay of the land. "Then we can find some territory to base ourselves but let's go quickly, I'm getting sick of this place's scent." He frowned.
