Joey:
Joey winced as he put his paw down. "Thats good, though I would rather we move sooner as to avoid my sister. She's... Not the nicest wolf to get in a argument with." he said, thinking of his sister's clipped way of talking and how she laughed whenever he did something wrong. He tucked his tail just thinking about it. She had left him in the dust days ago and hadn't come back looking for him. Mostly because he didn't want to be found right now. He jumped when she said she was grateful he had stood between the cat and her. His face went red, then she asked if his paw was broken. He looked down at it, and tried putting it down. He pulled it up a milasecond later, after a wince that he had confined himself to. "Yep, broken." his voice was wavery. That had hurt.

Joey was startled at the mention of a pack. He thought it over, then said, "I grew up in one, a family pack really. A lot of my brothers and sisters. Cousins and stuff like that. I left with my younger sister to find a few of them, but I only went to keep a eye on her. I don't like being crowded in with a bunch of other wolves." this time his voice was bitter and a bit angry. He had been teased for being slower then any of his siblings and cousins. He could still run fast though. He was taller, he was stronger then any of them. He pinned his ears back, then relaxed. "Do you have ny family?"

Tovaana could not imagine having ill feelings for a family member. She had never known her father, and her mother had spoken little of him. Did she hate him? Hate seemed to rash... However, it was only a mystery in her mind, one she had not bothered to unravel because she had had her mother. Now that she didn't... It was only her. She realized she technically had no family, except for a father who she did not even know. Perhaps her father was like Joey's sister, not worth getting to know, but- he loved her, or he would not have gone to keep an eye on her.... Her head started to cloud with a new battle. It was not till now that she even considered her father even part of her. 

The distaste in his words seemed laced with a memory untold. She guessed some unpleasant memories with his sister again. 

"No..." She said, wondering if she wanted to expound. It still hurt. "I grew up in a small group of wolves, my siblings didn't make it past the first winter. My mother is also gone now. I never knew my father..." She said it more for her own benefit, to internalize her earlier thoughts. She decided for the moment it was not important to search for her father, as it would be near impossible without a lead. "I am also used to wandering, but usually it was with my mother."

She looked down at his injured paw. "Joey, I've heard a rumor of the mountain... I'm going there myself, but to see if the rumors are true. One of them, is about magical healing. You are welcome to come with me, if you would like." She kept her voice optimistic, and she hoped he would take her offer, she wasn't sure she could let him go out alone. She felt responsible for his injury, even more if he shouldn't make it...

Joey cocked his head at the fact she had been raised by her mother alone. He didn't press however. He also felt he had givin his sister a bad reputation. "She was nice, but she loved to brag." he muttered, not noticing that he had actually spoken. He nodded as Tov spoke again. "I've heard of her in stories, but, yha." He flicked his black tail, wondering how he was going to get there. A limp wouldn't stop him, but a bad limp from a broken paw would make it difficult. "I'll come." he said, a smile lighting his face up. There was no point in wallowing in the dark and unhappy. He turned, brown eyes scanning for the peck of the mountain. Joey looked at her, and started limping in that direction.

Her ears flickered at the sound of his low voice, muted, but he caught the quick add-on. So he did love her, mixed in with tension, jealousy? But he kept talking and her mind switched gears again. Her banner waved a little at him agreeing to come with her, and a small smile. She walked along-side him at a slow pace. This was not going to be easy, she wondered if at one point he would not be able to get all the way up the mountain... Could she go in his stead? Bring magic back to him? She wasn't sure how it worked, but she felt confident that she could make it happen... whatever it was. It gave her a cause, it helped numb the passing of her mother, and slowly she walked next to Joey, keeping an eye out for the cat and any other strangers.
