Fable continued studying West's body as he spoke, but when his voice became low, she looked up to meet his gaze. Her own ears flattened shyly, her gaze fluttering away. "I...I, um, just wanted to ask. You seem to be happy, and I wanted to know if being in a pack is as great as you make it out to be," she said softly. Her brow furrowed as she replied, and for some reason she felt a heaviness in her chest. "Will you be leaving...?" There was something undeniably sad in her voice. She flinched in surprise at her own unwillingness for West to leave her. "I—don't you think that... They'll be missing you, right?" Her tail pressed against her side as she pulled her hindlegs closer to her stomach. The position she assumed looked too close to the one she had been in when West had first greeted her at the river.
She knew there was nothing she could do to make West stay with her longer, or at least that was what she assumed. Somehow that thought made her heart hurt enough for her to dig her nails into the soft soil at her paws. I have no right to keep him from what makes him happy, right? Despite my fears, living in a pack seems sort of...blissful... What? N-no! Bad mind! Those wolves will take advantage of you and then they'll turn their backs on you. Being alone is best. But...I'm not alone... Not when West is here with me... I like when he's with me...

(OOC: So sorry for the wait... I will try and be more consistent with my replies.)
West shifted uncomfortably when she asked if he was going to be leaving soon. For some odd reason the way Fable's soft timid voice was spoken, sent a sharp splinter straight through his heart. She really didn't want him to leave, and her fearful eyes held him in place. He couldn't even sit up in front of her. A hundred different possibilities were being analyzed behind Westariquo's sea green orbs that shivered with the glowing reflection of the female wolf before him. Maybe a should be heading back to his pack, maybe staying gone from the territory for too long was a possible rule that he was breaking. He would get in trouble then, by Blaise, and that didn't sound fun at all. But why would there be a time limit on absence when hunting exertions could last days? But then again, he didn't really tell his Alphess or a bata that he was gone, and that could possibly be disobedience.
"Ah.... um." West mumbled out a few sounds as his mind was swirling for the proper answer to give Fable. "I- don't you think that... They'll be missing you, right?" Her soft timid voice stuttered again, and West felt his jaw part slightly in mid attempt to speak, as he stared at the pale pelted she-wolf. Fable had her tail tucked up to her side, and her small thin form huddled up in a ball of submissiveness like before. The picture of fearful pup laying right in front of him, made West not just about move and stand to his paws. It made him reach his front paws inches closer to hers, and show a small grin on his lips. "They might, but I am going to make sure you have a safe place rest before I leave you." At this point, West decided that however much trouble he might be in, he was putting Fable abouve it.
Leaning forward, West lifted his rump first before raising the rest of his large gray body to it's full height. His nose had been awfully close to Fable during the action, and her scent was strong as it entered his breath. He quickly realized the awkwardness, and stood until he was looking down at her. A completely random and bizarre idea popped into the male's head, and he couldn't restrain himself from asking the question.
"Would- ...would you want to... ah, would you want to come back to the pack with me." Immediately West realized what he had just asked, and hated himself more because of how stupid he was. His ears went back against his neck, and his eyes and head dropped in shameful embarrassment. "I'm sorry." He quickly tried to recompense for his own ignorance, his gaze refusing to meet Fable's. How selfish of him, how insensitive could he possibly be. He was waiting for her to lash out in anger or become defensive with him.

Fable waited for his answer silently, secretly drowning in her anxiety. She couldn't help but feel her cheeks heat up a bit when he spoke at first, but it was not enough for her to say anything or move away. Her heart sped and she parted her jaws to speak, but then his nose was practically touching hers. She flinched back at his proximity, her ears fluttering back on her head for a moment. Now an inch further away from him, she licked her lips, her eyes flitting around nervously. "I'm s-so—" He spoke, cutting off her soft voice. Her beautiful, ice-blue eyes widened, her maw open in shock. Leave her life of a loner, of unlimited everything, and go to the pack with him? The idea was absurd, and it sent her nerves on fire with terror. Yet somehow she found herself wishing she could go to the pack with him, become one of them, and live like a normal wolf. But she wasn't normal, and West's "I'm sorry" stated just that.
Fable lowered her stunned ears and looked away shyly, licking her lips as she had before. She wanted more than anything to give him a simple answer, which was clear by how troubled she looked. The she-wolf stood and paced down the waterline, at first making it seem as if she would leave, before circling back and starting to pace restlessly. Her less-than-sane side battled with her more rational side furiously, making her tail and ears twitch angrily and her head shake or jerk restlessly. WOLVES! Other wolves will be there! You know that, Fable! They'll think you're a freak! You know you are, and they will only think badly of you because of it! They won't give you a chance, Fable, so there's no point in even trying.—But... But West wants me to go with him. And If he's there, then I'd feel better—NO! You'll get hurt just like last time!—Don't bring that up. This is different. It's different. West is different. He's not mother and father. He's not brother. He's a new wolf, a better wolf! He'll be there for me!—Unless he thinks just as they will. That last sentence from her anxiety made her freeze with her back on West. Her breathing was hard, her eyes wide and ears flat and tail thrashing: the picture of an on-edge wolf.
She wanted to go with him. More than anything, she wanted to go with him, to be normal. But she wasn't normal. "I'm...not normal, West... I'll..." Fable lowered her head and closed her eyes, her tail drooping as tears on her brown lashes. "I'll be a problem. I'll cause every wolf problems. I'm a burden, West. I'm not normal." Her legs began to shake. "I want to... I want to be normal and live in a pack and be normal but...I'm just not, I can't... I wish I could, but..." She turned toward him, oily tears beginning to slip from her beautiful eyes. "But, I'm scared."

Westariquo:
Already fear filled eyes grew even larger with shock. West knew what he said had been a mistake, and he quickly shut his eyes and bowed his head embarrassed. "I am so sorry Fable, I shou-" His apology never finished, because he suddenly looked up, too worried with what her reaction would be. To his astonishment Fable was looking away with ears layer back and a very distressed expression twisting her face. She was so lost in herself, unsure about everything in her life at the moment, and her glossy eyes practically threatened to run over with tears. No further sound came from the small she-wolf. She stood and began to walk away down the river's edge. "Fable..." 'Wait, come back!' West wanted to bark, but he wasn't going to apologize again and try bringing her back, he had already went too far and ruined it. And he wasn't about to go after her, she probably wouldn't appreciate him trying to amend for his fumble.
Suddenly sea green eyes watched as the she-wolf turned around and began to pace the along the water bank. This gave West a nice stumbling block in his mind. Was Fable still confused about her intentions? Did she not know how to process her feelings? The situation was pretty obvious, but the large gray male still wasn't sure what he should do.
West took a step to the side, almost to leave, but Fable still paced the beach and suddenly her soft voice turned him back. "Ah... He didn't know what to say. The wolf standing before him was a picture of depressing sadness that wilted in every aspect. To West, the petite creamy white she-wolf was completely normal, just a little fearful of the unknown. He had stumbled across other wolves like that before, and had even experienced it too growing up as a yearling in the wild, unsure of who he could trust and who he couldn't.
Fable whimpered again, her anguish filled voice began to choke with sobs and trembling. "Fable, you're not a burden." West whispered under her crying and his large gray legs moved him forward towards her as she turned to face him. Each sob from the small shaking body made West step forward until his head was gently resting on her shoulders in a soothing embrace. He waited until she fell silent with words and only shuddered with whimpers. "It's going to be alright. I was scared too when I joined the pack... and to be honest, I am still scared. " In a calm movement, West lifted his head off her and looked down into her sweet tear-filled eyes. "Scared of how my Alphess sees me, scared of what my packmates think of me. But I have no control over that. I can only be brave, and I can only control how much I am brave, so I will be the bravest I can be despite what others think." A large sigh ended West's drawl, and he turned to look at the gurgling water that danced along its ceaseless journey. "I can not choose your path, but wherever you decide to go, I will always see you as normal... as a friend." West smiled sheepishly at Fable, hoping his encouragement didn't sound like a cheesy pat on the back, but that his words genuinely touched her heart and made her feel special.

Fable flinched when West's head suddenly rested down on her shoulders, her heart pumping harder and her eyes widening despite how her ears flattened. W-West...—STOP! He's trying to deceive you! He'll only lead you to danger, Fable! He pulled back, and Fable met his gaze, trying to surpress her sobs. Friend... He sees me as a friend... He wouldn't lie to me!—That's exactly what he wants you to think, you idiot! You're only going to get hurt if you don't listen to me! Trust me! Have I ever lied to you?! Her shoulders shook and she shook her head furiously, crying all the harder and clamping her eyes shut tightly. Don't be stupid, Fable! What could a pack wolf possibly see in you?! He's just testing your potential and then he's going to take advantage of you!—No.. He... He wouldn't—Listen to me, Fable. He is going to hurt you. It's inevitable if you choose to put your heart over reason. She shook her head again.
"I want to go with West!" Fable insisted aloud, somehow silencing the voice in her mind. She closed the gap between her and the male and pressed her head against his broad chest. "I'm...West's friend... He wouldn't lie to me... I...I'll trust him..." Her voice was obviously not for West, not yet at least. For the time being, it was her talking to herself, trying to convince her anxiety to allow her to do as she wished. You'll only get hurt! He'll take advantage of the brain you have, Fable! Don't trust him! Don't—! The voice cut off as her sobs quieted. With a sniffle, she pulled back from West and mustered up a small smile. "P..please take me with you, West?"

Westariquo:
He could feel her. The fearfful trembling, the confused whimpers, the shaking body that doesn't know what to do. As West held his head over her, he could sense the tornado of emotions storming inside of her. West had been there before, when he was still a loner, making the decision of giving up that lifestyle of freedom is never easy. But he also sensed that she was going through a much harder decision then just that. He had no idea what, and he wanted to help her, but he couldn't. This was Fable's battle, and no matter how hard he wanted to just step in and take all of her problems away, he couldn't, she had to fight this one herself. Sometimes you have to overcome and grow on your own.
The battle continued, and Fable kept wagging her small head as if she was saying no to a hundred lies until she finally spoke. But she wasn't speaking directly to him, and this made West squint slightly at her in confusion. Before saying another word the small pale she-wolf leaned forward and placed her head against his chest, surprising the gray male. He held still for a moment and then rested his head over the nape of her neck, feeling her pulse drum softly on the side of his cheek. "I'm... West's friend... He wouldn't lie to me... I... I'll trust him..." Fable mumbled through his thick white chest fur. He could feel her warm breath that her words created. Never had he been this close to a female since he was a youngster playing with other pups, or snuggling up with his mother. The new sensation was growing in his belly, sparking an excitement that the gray wolf didn't even know he had. West settled the sensation by taking a deep breath before it got out of control. His chest raised and lowered, pushing against her head for a moment. He listened to her heartbeat and his own, but they never aligned, hers always beat faster.
It seemed Fables tears had abated and she lifted her head and looked up at him with a cute little grin. She then spoke again, and this time she was actually talking directly to him. He could tell by the way that she looked at him, that she was genuine. She really wanted to go with him, she was ready. A toothy smile split West's white muzzle as he slowly took one step back. He almost wanted to ask if she was really certain about her decision, if she really wanted him to take her to the boarder, but he thought twice and softly rumbled, "Of course I will take you with me. If you're up for the run, I could take you now, it's not dark yet." Westariquo tilted his chin up and arched it across the golden sky, from the bright orange and yellow, to the growing reds and purples. Only one star was bright enough to see in the eastern atmosphere. His gaze returned to the small face that was still soppy with tear stains but happy with victory. Her smile suddenly meant more to him than when they had first met. But then again, she hadn't hardly smiled at him before.

Fable smiled all the more bright upon seeing the grin that widened on West's face, upon hearing his acceptance of her decision. She felt that it was the first time she had ever decided something for herself. More often than not, her anxiety dictated her every move. It ruled her life. Told her where and when to go, who to talk to, what to run from, who to run from. Not only was she ignoring the voice in her head, but it seemed that she had shut it up. She knew it would return, but it couldn't control her forever. For the first time in too long, she allowed herself to put her faith in another, and in herself. She felt her weak self-esteem get a quick burst of confidence, almost like an adrenaline rush. She had full intent to take advantage of it.
At West's offer, the she-wolf nodded eagerly, eyes beginning to sparkle with excitement. "Let me wash my face. I'm sure I look terrible," she replied, chuckling softly at herself. She remained looking up into West's kind, handsome face for a few more seconds before nodding again and turning toward the creek. There was something, someone setting her heart aflutter. She could easily conclude who it was: the male now a few paw steps behind her. And yet, when she glanced over her shoulder after crouching at the water's edge, she did not feel uneasy. One as anxious as her would instantly guess that her frantic heart rate could only be the cause of her instincts telling her that West was a dangerous wolf, one she should be afraid of. However, when she lowered her maw to the stream, she found his gaze on her...pleasant.
After wiping away the tear stains on her face, Fable stood slowly, her slender limbs lifting her gracefully. It didn't even look like she was trying to be so. An air of wildness, of playfulness, filled the space between the loner and the packed wolf now in front of her. The sparkle in her eyes, the witty smirk on her maw made it painfully obvious that the energy came from her. Despite it being the first time West would have seen Fable like this, it was not too surprising for a wolf without a pack. And besides, this wildness, however sudden, suited her in the strangest of ways. It made her white pelt shimmer, her blue eyes swim with a challenge that she soon voiced. "You wish to run there before nightfall, yes?" Her taunting tone said enough. "Let's race." The desperate hint in her voice, in her eyes, also said enough. Running, sprinting as hard, as far as she could, was a freedom of hers that she was not willing to give up. It was something that brought her peace, something that cleared her mind. And, especially with the looming commitment on the horizon nearing with the setting sun, she needed a calm mind.

West:
Slowly her small smile grew into a bright grin, and West couldn't keep a chuckle from slipping past his lips when Fable commented on how terrible her face must look after crying so hard. And true, her white cheeks were sopping with wet fur and streaked with tears, but the smile deluded any ugly appearance it may have caused. Fable bent down to the water's edge and splashed her face down with the cool liquid. The gray and white male watched as silver droplets fell from her nose catching the sun's light. His eyes followed her flawless movements as she stepped back and peered in his direction with the most inquisitive look in her crystal blue eyes. West hardly recognized the wolf standing in front of him. Was this the Fable he had met in the woods on his boarder patrol? This she-wolf was standing proud and held her head forward instead of being shy and timid. This she-wolf was smiling and had spirit in her eyes instead of frowning and having a fear clouded vision. This she-wolf wasn't lost.
West tilted his head while his tail twitched behind him. His heart beat slowly grew louder in his ears as a burning excitement crept in him. Fable's spirited smile and prance brought back the dusty memories of when he himself had been a loner. Free and unbound by the laws and regulations of a pack. Free to run with the wind as your guide. The loner wildness overtook West and he pounced away from the white female with a lightness for the muscles he carried and a softness for the size of his form. "Oh, you're on Fable! A race to the boarder." With that, the sleek gray male took off through the river reeds and up the slope, his eyes bright with enthusiasm.

Fable, grinning wildly without a moment of hesitation, dashed after West, easily racing ahead of him toward the forest.
-Exit Fable-
(Your post at the border??? Fable would win btw, as she's both super fast and has great endurance, if that's cool)
