~Leo~ There was blank darkness surrounding the orange he wolf. He felt dirt and small pebbles against his stomach where he rested. Slowly he blinked his eyes open to see a large stone wall in front of him. He didn't know where the wall came from or why he was lying next to it, but it was there, and it was mysterious. His eyes wandered up the wall to see a wide hole where there should be a stone, heavy enough to seriously injure any wolf passing by. The large male gave a tired moan and tilted his head back down to a comfortable position, and almost automatically focused again on a stone brick directly in front of him. The brick must have fallen from the wall and injured the he wolf. He placed his paw over his head and felt a bump that faded into a scratch, soft and tender. It ached when he put pressure on it. The orange male stood up from his resting position, then wincing, he immediately fell back down in a dizzy blur. He sat there for a moment, eyes closed, than he stood back up. He swiveled around to face his surroundings. He was in a forest. An unfamiliar forest. Jutting out of the ground were various stone arches and walls like the one behind him. Where am I?

Rayen;
The dark-green and white striped she-wolf made her way through the forest. It was a fine day, and Rayen's easy smile was playing softly at her jaw. She had been accepted into the pack earlier that day, but she had already wandered far from the border. Perhaps that was just her instinct, being raised by loners, or perhaps she was just curious. In any case, the slender female was happy to be out and about in a new and unfamiliar land. In no time, she would certainly know the territory and surrounding lands like the back of her paw—that was just her way.
After a couple of minutes in content silence, she spied a break in the trees up ahead. A crease formed in her forhead, though it was more of a curious squint than a frown. Speeding up her pace, Rayen closed the distance between her and the clearing. What she saw when she had exited the trees made her stop and stare, a quiet in-take of breath breaking the serenity. There was stone before her, but—but it was squared, smooth, and tall, as if it was supposed to be there. Her white ears flickered, but there was no sound coming from the structure. Her curiosity peaked, Rayen ducked further out of the trees and trotted towards the structure. Before getting much closer, however, she spied a wolf standing in the dust and looking at the structure. She grinned, and huffed happily so as not to startle him from behind. "What is it?" She whispered, happy to share in the mystery with someone else. Her gold-flecked brown eyes were alight with wonder at the stone and at meeting someone new. Her tail wagged behind her and she approached the stranger, looking at the structure rather than him.

The large male heard a voice behind him. He turned around to find a happy she wolf amazed by the scenery as well. It was good to know he was not the only one confused by the odd place, but perhaps she had some explanations for him, too. "I have no idea," he said. While she was probably referring to the rock statues, he was referring to everything. He had no idea where he was, or who he was for that matter. The orange wolf looked to the female. She was a mossy green color with lovely white stripes covering her like ripples on water. She had a rugged natural look, like she belonged in these woods. There was something strange about her, though. Her outgoing enthusiasm to talk to him reminded him of something, or someone. The way her tail wagged happily and her eyes were wide with curiosity. The male didn't know what it was, but he liked her. "Do I know you from somewhere? What's your name?"

Rayen;
Rayen was very aware of how the new wolf looked over her. It was as if he was just as fascinated by her as he was by the odd structure before them. She smiled, but didn't meet his eye. Apparently he had no idea what the structure was, either. Part of her (Heck—all of her) wanted to explore it; however, there was something about it that made her want to stay back, as well. Like some unspoken secret. Still though, her tail wouldn't stay still as she looked at the curiously smooth and ever-rising stone.
He was still looking at her, so finally she turned with a sunshiney smile to face him. He was certainly a handsome wolf, a rich, deep orange with a brighter mane. Her eyes twinkled as she smiled, and she turned to glance at the trees behind them. "You match the autumn colours," She said, her voice warm and genuine as she nodded towards the changing leaves. His eyes were lime-green, and they were still trained on her. She blinked slowly and gave a light chuckle. He asked if he knew her from somewhere—a classic. She gave a clever, knowing smile. She had been a loner for too long not to recognize a pick-up line when she heard one.
"Do you know me?" She repeated, playing along and turning to face the structure again. "I don't believe so, no." She laughed, but in the end decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he really did think they had met somewhere before. "My name is Rayen," She said, shaking out her fur before fixing him with a big smile. The sun caught on the golden speckles within her white-stripes and made them shine. "And you are?"

At the stranger's comment, the orange wolf turned around to view the colorful trees, then he looked down at his own coat. "I guess it does," he said with a laugh. He gave her a weak grin that faded slowly when she said she didn't know him. "My name is Rayen," she had said. "Rain?" he repeated softly. He loved rain. Wait, why did he love rain exactly? A quick flash of memory charged through him. He was playing in the rain, splashing in mud puddles. He was only a pup, and....and he was with another pup. A small silver male pup and they were playing together. They were friends.
The wolf blinked back into reality when the green female asked him a question. He looked at Rayen again. No. That was not who she reminded him of. He processed her words slowly. "And you are?" she had said. He tilted his head slightly, then it dawned on him that she was asking for his name. What was his name? Panic flooded over him. I've forgotten my own name!? "I'm Leo," he said instinctively. Where did that come from? he thought. Leo. Yes, that was his name! He gave a sigh of relief. "Yes, Leo. My name is Leo."
Leo blankly stared at Rayen for a moment. "I-I'm sorry," he said awkwardly. "It's just that...well I don't really know where I am. I just woke up over there." He pointed his nose at the wall he had been sleeping beside. "I don't know where this gash here came from on my head, but I think a rock or something fell on it." The bruise was aching, and he had a feeling he needed some medicinal help. "You wouldn't happen to be a healer would you?" Leo said in a partially joking voice.

Rayen;
Rayen cocked an eyebrow when he looked to the trees and then to his own fur. He seemed just as pleased as she was that he matched, as if he hadn't known before. He sure was a silly one, this stranger! He repeated her name, or rather, the weather that it made everyone think of, and then he seemed to go away for a moment. His eyes clouded and he looked as if he was far away. Rayen's brown and gold eyes shone as she stood by and waited for him to return. She knew what memories could do to someone.
"Are you quite sure?" She asked jokingly once he had come back, chuckling when he repeated his name as if he was convincing himself of it. Apparently though, he had just woken up here in this mysterious place. It gave her chills. She was about to apologize, when he called her attention to the gash on his head. Rayen leapt into action, recalling instantly a few more practical lessons learned in the outside. "I don't claim to be a healer," She murmered, but went to him anyway. "But I can try." Her concern to help overshadowed her concern of approaching slowly and cautiously, and in a short few seconds she was right beside him, leaning in and looking at his gash. It wasn't a deep cut—but it looked like a heavy hit.
Without a word she smiled reassuringly and dashed into the brush once more. She recalled having noticed a plant that could ease a lot of his suffering. She hoped he would be alright—her familiarity with head abrasions was limited, but she remembered being told to treat them as soon as possible. Just as she was beginning to panic, she spotted what she had seen in the corner of her eye. Yarrow—blessed yarrow. Closing her eyes against the bitter taste, Rayen yanked a few stems, then began a headlong rush back to Leo. On her way, she happened to find a bushel of lavender growing as well. She grabbed some of it, too.
"Here," She murmered, dropping the plants before him and chewing them up. Gently, she leaned in, and laid the poultice as nicely as she could on the cut. She arranged the mixture with her nose, pressing it against his cut gingerly. "Yarrow, to stop bleeding and fight infection, and lavender to reduce swelling and cover up the smell of the yarrow." She grinned. She was thankful, in that moment, for that frightening day with her old "pack" when she had seen the same plants used.
((Disclaimer: Both lavender and yarrow grow in North America, so it would make sense to find them at WWM))

The soothing plants felt good at first, then began to sting. Leo winced but held still. He new that what Rayen did was for his own good. "Thank you," he said. Rayen barely knew him and already she was trying to help him. She had said she was not a healer, but she was apparently knowledgeable about medical plants. "Where did you learn to do that?" he asked.
It was taking a while to apply the herbs, but Leo had no where to go. He was not sure what to do next. His stomach began to growl. I guess I'll start with looking for something to eat. How long had he been sleeping in that spot? He looked at the sky. The sun was high above the two wolves. Leo assumed he had gotten hit earlier in the morning. "Are you as hungry as I am?" he asked. "Do you know of any good hunting spots around here?" Leo could use a nice, plump rabbit at that point.

Rayen;
The large wolf started to wince as the poultice did its work. Rayen smield apologetically. "Sorry. They really will help." He asked where she had learned them, next. Rayen sighed. That was the next natural question someone would ask, she supposed. "I grew up with loners. I guess they were as close to a pack as loners ever come. We travelled a lot, but one day we went too close to the border of a familiar pack, and they attacked us." She frowned, trying not to get lost in the memories. In a moment the feeling passed and she sighed. "We only lost one, that night. A lot of others were hurt, though, and the wolf that I considered my teacher had gotten badly hurt. She couldn't walk, but she instructed me on what plants to find to reduce the swelling, or else she may have lost her leg." The frightening moment that night when Rayen had heard they may have to chew the injured leg off still made her shudder when she thought about it. She sighed with another smile. "Well, you can bet I found them quick enough."
As she pressed the last bit of medicine into his cut, his stomach growled at her. Her eyes flicked down and she laughed, then flicked her gaze up into his eyes. It was a testiment to her upbringing devoid of most social cues, because it didn't seem at all strange to her that she was just there smiling at him about three inches from his face. "Good hunting spots?" She repeated, not taking a step back. "No, I'm new here myself but... a couple of voles or birds are never hard to find if you know where to look!"

Leo looked into Rayen's deep brown eyes, shimmering with golden flecks. This cheerful she wolf had been through quite some hard times in the past, yet she stayed positive. Leo regretted asking her where she had learned about the herbs. It clearly brought her some very sad memories. He wished he could say he felt her pain, that he had been there before, but he truly couldn't remember. He felt like he could relate. Somehow, he could remember feeling the same way, he just did not know when. "Wow, Rayen, that must have been hard for you," he said apologetically.
Leo's eyes switched focus to the vast woodland around him, smooth ominous structures of stone jutting out of the ground. Why would Leo come to a place like this? Perhaps it was pure curiosity, or perhaps there was something important about these woods. The strange pillars and arches and walls were unnatural. They were unfamiliar, and mysterious. Leo desperately wanted to explore them. "A vole or two sounds good," he said smiling. "Come on, let's go exploring. I want to find some clues as to why I came here. Maybe we'll find something to eat while we're at it." Leo stood up and pointed his nose toward the old rock statues. He nudged Rayen in that direction when he walked toward them. A sudden thrill of pup-like excitement stirred inside of him. This was an adventure, a mystery to be solved.

Rayen;
Leo's viberant-green eyes bored into her own for a minute, and Rayen felt her drop her own gaze. That was odd—why had she done that? For the life of her, she couldn't figure it out. Wasn't it rude not to look someone in the eyes? There was no part of her that realized staring into each others' eyes when in extremely close proximity to each other was a pretty intimate thing. She hadn't grown up learning social rules like that, so when she felt embarassed and dropped her gaze with a smile, it was a wonder to her. Then, Leo turned to the ruins. Oh, yes. Finally!
Rayen spun on the spot, her green and white-rippled tail circling behind her slowly. He had said the magic word: Exploring. Rayen was always down for some of that. It had been her entire way of life until just recently. He wanted clues around why (and how) he was here. Rayen felt her heart quicken. A mystery. The male nudged her and she felt a smile pull at her jaw before trotting ahead, toward the structure. They came to a place where the stone work came low to the ground. If they stepped onto it, there was another stone rising up from that one, and so on, reaching all the way to the top. It was like it had been made to climb. It was frightening—unfamiliar. Rayen hesitently put her paws onto the first step. "It's so smooth," She said, wonder in her voice. She looked back to Leo and beckoned him foward. It wasn't so bad once that first step was taken.

(Hope you don't mind if Sullivan joins in on this c:) Sullivan:THE WHITE WOLF'S oddly marked pelt fit the scenery of the forest perfectly, providing him camouflage as it blew back in the calm wind while he approached the ruins. His almost formidable gaze had shifted to examine scene to scene, excessively sniffing the air in an attempt to catch any scents. No, nothing. He felt almost... drawn to this territory, for some reason. And so here the large male was, his large paws trailing along the verdant earth of the Ruins of Abeytu. Taking note of the beautiful scenery, Sullivan releases a comfortable sigh into the breeze. It was tranquil, yet filled with mystery, with numerous trees and strange stone figures overlooking the territory below. His pitch black eyes with pinprick green pupils examined the silenced border during his entrance. Flicking his ears, he was wondering if anyone else was here. Then it hit him. His green-streaked tail lifted in slightly cautious dominance, his keen ears picking up strange voices in the distance. The male shifted his large anatomy to and fro, scanning the forested area. He felt unusually uneasy and cautious. Something about this quiet, mysterious ruin made him feel almost... threatened, especially because he heard unfamiliar voices. The silenced ruins made a fear strike even in the heart of the powerful, dominant beast. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he pushed on. He sauntered silently in the long grasses, surrounded by several rock formations. The scent of unfamiliar wolves started to surround him, and he looked around to find the source. I wonder who else is here, maybe we could figure out the mystery of this place?

((Sure, Noelle! )) Rayen dropped her gaze awkwardly from Leo, but he didn't mind. Her shyness was actually kind of endearing. Leo smiled when she began trotting toward the ruins. They certainly were odd, the way they jutted out of the ground so bluntly. Both of them climbed up a jagged ramp-like thing onto a large rock. It was a smooth flat rock, like it was made for wolves to walk across. "Maybe someone with a power made it," he suggested. It was definitely made by other wolves for it looked and felt unnatural. Nothing was jogging any sort of memory in his head but it still felt mystical, almost like it was calling them to explore it. Leo wandered under a large arch. He examined the sides of it. They were round and decorative, with swirling wave-like designs carved into it. He pressed on it gently with his left paw and the whole arch began wobbling. Leo looked up as a sharp stone wriggled loose. He jumped out of the way when it fell and shattered into three uneven pieces. "We have to be more careful, Rayen. Keep in mind I almost got killed here." he said to her, but the danger still did not stop him from moving forward. Leo nodded his head to a pile of old clay pots. They were dusty a smooth. Some had holes in them where shards of glass used to be. Some were even colorful. "What do you make of these, Rayen?" he said stepping closer to the pile, when a green, white, and brown he wolf caught his eye. His head shot up to view the wolf who was exploring the ruins as well. "Hello!" he called without thinking twice.

((Hi, Noelle! I'm Meds! I always love meeting more roleplayers that type big replies like me!! xD I flock to them. This is an awesome thread))
Rayen nodded slowly, speaking with Leo and walking next to him, but eyes focused solely on the strange ruins. Her companion suggested that perhaps a wolf with a power made it. She shook her head in wonder. "It would have had to be a very powerful wolf—two, more likely. Level 3 Stone and Soil at least, I would think. I've never seen anything like this. Is there a level higher than 3?" The White Wolves themselves may have been able to do something like this, but even that seemed like a stretch. Perhaps their sires had done it, many moons ago? She knew something of the gifts of White Wolf Mountain, because there had occasionally been a few wolves with powers that had strayed from the Mountain, and of course, the young and impressionable Rayen had flattened them with questions whenever she saw a glowing tattoo.
A rock dislodged from an arch overhead, and Rayen found herself by Leo's side, ready to push him out of the way if need be. Another instinct. It was strange, being away from the loners she had known so well. With them, none of these outlier-instincts seemed strange because everyone had them. Here, Rayen was the odd one out. She skipped back a few steps, grinning through the awkwardness. Leo then brought her attention to some really strange, hollow rocks. They were the colour of clay, but they were hard and even smoother than the stone they were treading on. She was about to knock one down and see if it shattered, but was distracted when Leo called a greeting to someone she hadn't seen yet.
She leapt up a few more of those strange step-like ridges until she could see past the squared stone and hail the newcomer. She grinned—maybe being part of a pack inside of tamed land wouldn't be so bad—it seemed that there were always new wolves to meet! Her tail swept the air behind her, the white and gold-speckled ripples catching the sun. He was green, not unlike herself, though much brighter and more mixed with the base white of his pelt. She grinned at him, dipping her head in a greeting. "Welcome!"

(Heya, me too! Nice to meet you :3 And I agree haha)
Sullivan hopped onto one of the rocks, examining the other rock formations surrounding him. How strange, yet so interesting... Hopping from platform to platform, he eventually halts to look up at a large square stone with step-like breaks in the rock leading up to it. Curiously, he lifts his head and takes in the wonderful scent of the nature surrounding him. Wait... A bewildered look crossed the male's face. There were two more scents that seemingly just popped out of nowhere. "Hello!" "Welcome!" He tensed ever so slightly at the sudden voices, whipping his head to the side ad looking up at the source. There was an orange male and a female with a pelt rather similar to his own.
His ears had flattened a bit awkwardly, he wasn't exactly the most outgoing of wolves at first. "Er... Hello up there!" he called out with his slightly heavy Irish accent, his streaked tail swishing in greeting. He felt more comfortable and calmed down when he figured out the source of the voices. "It appears I'm not alone in these ruins after all," he said, a hint of eagerness in his low, confident voice. The white and camouflage male turns to pad up the step-like ridges and meet the wolves at a fair distance, dipping his head politely. "Name's Sullivan," he introduced, but didn't meet their gazes. He didn't like to admit his shyness, but he was always a bit awkward like this at first. "Curious place here, eh? I suppose ye two're adventuring these ruins too?"

Leo sat on the strange platform and looked down at Sullivan. He had a heavy accent that was unlike anything Leo had ever heard. "My name is Leo," he said pleased that he knew his own name. He wished he could give Sullivan more information about himself other than his name but that was all we had. "I guess you could say we're adventuring," he said. He was having an adventure for the most part. "It is a pretty strange place. I woke up here and I don't remember why I came here or......who I am. I'm looking for clues. I think I got hit by a rock." Leo looked around the area again. In the corner of his eye was a crow perched on one of the pots they were examining, pecking at some bugs on the ground. Immediately, Leo stood up and dashed over distracted from his new friends. He jumped at it, pressed it down with his claws and slid across the stone platform. His stomach scraped across the rocks, which was not quite as painful as the bruise on his head but it still hurt. The bird rapidly flapped around sending a mess of feathers into the air. Leo bit it with a swift motion twice just to make sure it was dead. He then stood up with the crow in his mouth and said awkwardly through clenched teeth, "We can share if you'd like, Sullivan and Rayen. Oh by the way, this is Rayen." he gestured to Rayen.
