Nicolas and Edmond;
Finally. A place that wasn't as dreary and depressing. At least this area had trees that were alive and actually looked like the valley that had been described to the two boys. The lake they had uncovered, one they weren't quite sure the name of, now resided in front of them, bustling with the life of Summer. Nic and Ed had seen a few little rodents drinking from this lake moments before, running off when they saw the two wolves.
"We could use a bit of a rest. We've been walking for a while, " Nicolas stated, padding over to the edge of the water. The black and teal-marked wolf bent his head down, drinking from the water and suddenly feeling a burst of energy from the coldness of the water. He let out a laugh and jumped forward into the water, kicking his legs and keeping his head above water. At some moments the only parts of him that could be seen was his teal-ringed muzzle or his teal eyes.
Edmond had followed and taken a drink, but he remained on the shore, watching over Nic. He just shook his head, though a smile crossed his face. His ears remained perked for any signs of strangers, since the wolf he was guarding clearly didn't care about the danger he could face.
So far the two males from outside the valley had only met a few wolves, but all of them had been a family and were in a very unusual place for pups. Thankfully, the pups being there seemed to ease the situation before. But not all wolves had pups. There was always that chance that a wolf would appear that posed a threat...

((Might I pop in, here? They seem so fun!)) Kanga, Manaaki;Ah, Kai Lake. It was much more inviting in summer than it was in winter. The water was deceptively long, the perfect size to fool wolves into walking across it when frozen, thinking they had sound-footing only to be sourly surprised with potentially-thin ice. Kanga and Manaaki were passing through the trees, side by side, but distanced, each like the inverted shadow of the other. For such gargantuan wolves (for they were rather shocking, and hadn't yet met anybody who was quite their size in the valley), it was always a wonder at how quietly they could move. Of course, it no longer came as much of a surprise to the valley's inhabitant's that had met them; because after all, suddenly appearing in a seemingly-empty forest could only surprise somebody so many times. But for those who didn't yet know them, suddenly being approached by massive creatures with no real warning that they were there, could give somebody quite a start. However, this day, though their massive paw-falls (known to rival small bears' in size) were silent, their voices were not; or Kanga's voice, to be specific. "I just don't agree," Came his thunder-like voice, near-growling. Anybody that knew the twins would not be startled by such a sound, for it was common-knowledge that the boys often participated in violent-play that would be deadly for anybody who wasn't their size. Manaaki padded along a ways off from his louder younger (by a few minutes) brother, eyeing him with brown-ringed eyes, the opposite of his russet twin. He was ever-quieter, ever-calmer, and ever-more boring, according to Kanga himself. "I just don't think it's something to get upset over," Manaaki said, his own voice deep as well, but more level than Kanga's brawny bass. Kanga snorted in reply, then waved through a few trees to get at Manaaki. Manaaki snuffled, then shot forward on powerful legs, making Kanga's snap come up just short. The bulky Warrior leapt after the Scout, exhibiting how similar the two of them were in gifts. Manaaki was a hair faster, Kanga a hair stronger—but both were forces to be reckoned with. The forest floor fairly thundered as their weight rose and fell in the chase, snarling and snapping their teeth, looking for all the world like a pair of giant's trying to kill each other, when in reality they were just a pair of twins having a fun little play-brawl. They flew across the ground, covering shocking distances in mere moments, until they had skirted well-around the outskirts of the lake and broken through the clearing further up. Their loud, vicious game was cut short when splashing sounds came to their ears. Both boys slowed and turned in unison, almost comically so, until they saw the source of the noise. One male in the water, splashing around, and the other male looking on warily. A deep, quiet chuckle broke through Kanga's lips, and Manaaki instantly knew why. The two wolves before them, both male and both smaller (in comparison to the twins, though not necessarily in comparison to the valley-average), seemed for all the world like a mirror of the two twins. One loud, and causing a general ruckus, one quiet, saying nothing and staying back, watching on with calm eyes. "Hello," Kanga called to the unfamiliar wolves, nodding his big head in their direction and swinging his bulk around. Manaaki followed, and carefully, the two brothers closed the gap until they stood a respectable distance apart.

Nicolas and Edmond;
"Come on Ed. Lighten up! It's not like there's anybody else around." Nicolas shook his head at his guard's current state, though it was normal. Ed was always so boring when they weren't in a for-sure-safe area, and sometimes it got a little frustrating. But he couldn't stay mad at him. It was a little bit different for Edmond, though.
A frown came over the grey wolf's face. "You know I can't. We don't know this place. I am suppose to guard you and I need to stay alert for any-" A voice suddenly echoed through the woods behind him, causing his head to quickly turn and his fur to stand on end. He stood and stared down the bushes, waiting for anything. Soon, more sounds, a large amount of thuds and the cracking of branches could be heard. Whatever it was sounded large, but Ed knew he couldn't back down. He would wait for it to come, and when it did, he would be ready. He would do as he was trained to do: protect the Prince.
As the sounds got louder, Ed took a few steps forward, Nic now still in the water and watching to see what would happen. As Ed took a few steps forward, planning to peak through the bushes to see what was coming, the sound seemed to end for a moment before there was a thundering crash as a large mass of fur came tumbling through the bushes. Ed let out a surprised bark and jumped away from the mass, nearly being trampled. He turned quickly and let out a growl, facing the mass defensively. It wasn't until he realized that this wasn't just a big creature, it was two big creatures, and they were both wolves. His growl faded and his orange eyes widened, the very end of his tail beginning to bend under him. They're.....wolves? They're huge! They can't be! I've never seen wolves this big! He honest felt frightened. During his training he was taught that he had to face all challenges head-on, no matter their size. But he was never told that large creatures included monstrous wolves.
When the two huge wolves saw the two of them, they seemed so calm and acted as if nothing had happened. Nic had been surprised, very surprised when he saw that they were wolves, but he tried not to show too much of a reaction like his guard had, which he didn't notice. His training had included being polite, not making assumptions, and trying not to judge a wolf by what they looked like. So he swam lightly over to more shallow water before standing and looking over at the two large wolves. "Hello. That was quite an entrance."

((XDDDDD You understand my boys perfectly xD))
Kanga, Manaaki;
As they thundered by and before a greeting had been given, the male out of the water seemed quite ready to fight to the death. Kanga loved fighting to the death, usually with Manaaki, though (and not quite to the death). But each brother stood their ground respectfully until the stranger stopped growling. It was a completely fair reaction, both of them knew, and so neither took any offense. Kanga glanced at his twin and gave a stupid smile, which Manaaki ignored, as they both neared the two strangers. The one in the water paddled over, then greeted them. When he spoke of their entrance Manaaki's face fell, but Kanga's smile could have lit up the sky.
"We apologize," Manaaki said, smooth-as-ever, and still trying to keep a safe distance so there was no misunderstandings. "We didn't expect anybody to be out this way—" They had already been past the lake several times with the speed they were capable of, and each time it had been empty. They had taken a longer route on the final turn though, so it made sense that the males had arrived in the meantime. Manaaki lifted his brow and tried to lighten the situation, speaking now to the male who had growled. "We didn't bowl you over, did we?" Kanga, on the other hand (and ever the opposite of his brother), threw his big head back and let his booming-laugh ring out to the sky. As he moved, his brown fur danced and flashed the red of his coat underneath. Manaaki's fur did the same, but his grey fur flashed silver with movement.
"If we had ran him over, he wouldn't exactly be able to tell us about it." Kanga spoke about them rather than to them, but it was exactly impolite. Manaaki gave a clipped sigh somewhere to his side, wondering why his brother couldn't just be pleasant and normal straight from the beginning, but then smiled at the pair instead—purposely ignoring Kanga. His shocking teeth caught the glistening light in the water for a moment and glinted tauntingly, but there was nothing aggressive about the expression. "My name is Manaaki," He began, dipping his head respectively. He glanced at Kanga and raised his eyebrows. Kanga sighed, then turned and gave a wide grin as well. It was so large it almost appeared forced, though whether it was or not remained a mystery. "I'm Kanga."

Nicolas and Edmond;
Even as the two large males spoke, Edmond remained where he was, still slightly frightened. When he had been asked if they had ran him over, he still made no movement and said nothing. Normally he would have never been like this. These two could have been a bear and he wouldn't have cowered down like a scared pup like he was now. He just never knew that wolves could get so...large! But while he seemed like he had seen a ghost, Nic was calm.
"Understandable. I am Nicolas, and this, " he turned his head over for the first time since the two showed up, only just now seeing how Ed had reacted to them. He held in a laugh, but couldn't stop it from coming out. He hadn't seen Ed get that scared by something before. Normally he was so strict and over-protective that he would have instantly been at Nic's side, defending him. But in the presence of these two males he looked so puny. "And that is Edmond." He finished, stopping his laugh and looking towards the two of them. He could for sure understand why Ed was frightened, though. They were very intimidating. But, as far as Nic could tell, they weren't there to attack, nor did they seem like the kind of wolves who would want to. He did get a sudden interest though.
"I'm only wondering, but you two seem very similar. Are you brothers?"

Manaaki, Kanga;
The wolf that had originally growled remained frozen and speechless. Kanga looked at him with his mouth hanging slightly ajar for a moment, before turning to Manaaki and fixing him with a look that the older twin knew well. Manaaki raised his brow at Kanga, indicating that he thought the still male was actually fine, and perhaps just shocked. Kanga more or less understood the nonverbal cue thanks to the bond they shared, and swung his head back to center. Supposedly his name was Edmond, as Nicolas, the male who was swimming, introduced. They were both clever, perhaps Nicolas slightly more so, for they weren't taking Manaaki and Kanga's presence lightly. Of course, neither of the two strangers had anything to fear, for though the twins were enormous, they were very rarely violent; except of course, with each other.
Nicolas then asked the common question about their relationship to each other. Kanga snorted softly and shook his head immedietly. "No." Manaaki huffed on his other side and fixed Nicolas with an apologetic smile. "Yes we are, we're brothers. Twins, actually. I'm the elder, and Kanga... the younger." His look turned shrewd as his eyes flicked back to Kanga, but the russet twin lifted his lip and flashed an intimidating set of teeth at his older brother. Manaaki wasn't worried, and turned back to their company. He glanced towards Edmond. "Well met, Edmond." He said, dipping his head once more and trying very hard to be as polite as possible. See, Manaaki often had to be doubly-polite, for both himself and for Kanga. It wasn't that Kanga was rude necessarily (though he often was), it was just that he didn't really care what other wolves thought of him, which could often be taken as rudeness. In reality it was just a roguish take on life—but Manaaki knew that not everybody saw it that way.
"Are you two brothers?" Kanga asked abruptly. His keen eyes had picked up similarities within them. Not so much their fur or build, but the way that they moved around each other. The way that Nicolas' eyes had swept over Edmond and introduced him without hesitation, as if he had known the latter wouldn't do so himself—the way that Edmond stood very subtly between the twins and Nicolas. To Kanga, it seemed like an older/younger brother relationship. That, or very close friends. Kanga's mind may have been full of sawdust, but that did not mean that it was not also quick and sharp.

Nicolas and Edmond;
While Nicolas remained polite and calm, Ed had not left his current state in a little while as they spoke. It wasn't until one of the wolves, Manaaki, was it, turned to him and bowed his head. His ears perked, but he didn't move other than that. The slight fear that had also been apparent in his eyes seemed to fade slightly. They seemed generally polite and they hadn't attacked or shown any signs of aggression. Plus, if these two really did want to kill Nic and Ed, they had enough power and size advantage that it would be very easy to kill the two smaller males. Regardless of any of that, Ed knew he had to pull himself together. He couldn't let these two giants throw out everything he had been trained for. He slowly regained himself, moving his legs so that he was back to standing regularly and his tail wasn't curled beneath him like before. He lifted his head slightly, though he felt no pride in it. He only somewhat bowed his head back, still weary and slightly frightened, but trying to get rid of it.
Meanwhile, Nic was still engaging in the conversation, as to be expected. "Twins? Yet you two have different fur colors? Though, I will say your facial features are strikingly similar, so I guess fur doesn't matter, " he stated, tilting his head slightly at first, but then returning it to normal. He then heard the questioning of whether he and Ed were siblings and slightly chuckled., teal eyes glancing over at the gray male. "Sometimes it feels that way, but no. We are merely close friends travelling together." That was one difference between Ed and Nic. Edmond, when he didn't trust wolves, would not converse with them or let them get close or even let them know anything about him until he had secured Nic's safety. Nic, on the other hand, was cautious, but in a more disclosed way. When that question was answered, he easily could have stated that Edmond was his guard who was travelling with him to protect him, but then that would bring up the questions of why Nic needed a guard or protecting. He didn't know these wolves. He didn't know how they would view the fact that he was a "prince" of sorts. Some wolves would think it was cool, others would be questioning, some would try to take advantage of it somehow, and some just wouldn't care. He didn't know these wolves well enough to know which of those they would be, so he would keep it quiet.
"I don't mean to be blunt or rude in any way, but were you two born this size? You are two of the largest wolves I have ever seen!" He offered a polite and curious smile to the twins.

Kanga, Manaaki;
Edmond had somewhat relaxed, though not by much, but even a slight easing of tension pleased the brothers—well, Manaaki at least. He loathed putting other wolves out of their comfort zone, something almost unavoidable when travelling with Kanga, but he loathed even more, being away from the russet giant. So he picked the lesser of two evils. The first, making others uncomfortable, was at least explainable and somewhat well-rehearsed. The second? Why, the second wasn't good for anybody. Kanga more or less agreed. From slightly behind Edmond, Nicolas chuckled at Kanga's question. No, they weren't siblings, he said—but friends travelling. They would have had to be close friends, Kanga observed. Wolves didn't flow so well around each other unless they had known one another for a long, long while; but he didn't press the matter. After all, they had all only just met.
After finding out that Kanga and Manaaki were indeed twins, Nicolas questioned their furring. Manaaki was about to answer, but clicked his mouth shut again in mute surprise when Kanga picked up the response. "Not similar, no, but look here," He said, and gave himself a shake that traveled from head to tail. As he did so, wherever the fur moved, it flashed a brilliant red that was hidden underneath his muddy brown. While he was still, he appeared just brown—but anytime a wind stirred or he took a step, the red flashed out from below. Kanga turned and fixed Manaaki with a stare. After just one lunge in which Kanga threatened to swat him, Manaaki mimicked his brother's movement. Manaaki's fur did the exact same thing as Kanga's, but with him it was grey that flashed a shining-silver underneath. Kanga looked back and gave a crooked, roguish smile.
"Our eyes, too," Manaaki echoed, turning his smile from Kanga to Nicolas. "Mine are ringed with brown, and his with grey." He shrugged lightly (with the accompanying flash of silver). Twins often were more similar, but both Kanga and Manaaki thought themselves similar enough—especially with the hidden colour. Nicolas then moved on from that topic, asking if they had been born the size that they currently were. Kanga barked his signature rough laugh, and even Manaaki's smooth chuckle broke from his lips.
"This size?" He lifted his paws as if to examine himself. "Surely, being exactly as we are would have been fatal—" The hesitation was almost unnoticeable, so fast did he recover. "No, we were born as regular as pups can be. Though our size came naturally, yes, and was not... enhanced in anyway." His smile was genuine, and though his eyes didn't move to Kanga, the older twin knew what was running through their mind. For in fact, their birth had been fatal. Well, Manaaki's hadn't. But Kanga's had. As the second twin, and the last to be born—his father had always blamed him for their mother's death. Hence Kanga's name, curse, and Manaaki's, blessing. But now was not the time to dwell on such things, and even Kanga managed to let it slide off his shoulders and give a convincing, and mostly sincere, smile.
"Imagine what terror we might have caused, at that age and this size." His bark-like laugh boomed forth once more. He turned to Manaaki. The silver-twin gave another smile of his own. It came easier, now that he knew Kanga was not going to react poorly to the topic of conversation and his own silly slip-up.
"But enough about us—you said you two were travelling! Well Kanga and I have lived here in the valley for many seasons, and would be more than glad to give you, if not a tour, then at least directions."

Nicolas and Edmond;
The two twins, or one of them anyway, was a bit sarcastic through most of their replies, or at least it seemed that way. Nic took note of this, determining the general personality types of these two twins and remembering them in his head. When they showed off their similar pelts, despite the color difference, Nic could understand what they meant. Even though one of them had gray fur and the other had brown, they both had a bright color underneath that seemed to be like a hidden representation of themselves. He understood this and knew that they were closely bonded. For a moment, he looked over to his guard, thinking about the two of them.
They were born together and were friends throughout their whole lives. It's almost as if they really were siblings. They both wish they could of been, but also not, for if Edmond had been born as Nic's brother, he never would have became his guard or ever came to this valley with him. Though, there was a chance that Nic would never have been sent to this valley at all if he had been born as Edmond's brother instead. It was a little bit of a hard concept to process in his mind, but he shrugged it off and decided to save it for later.
"Hmm. A tour would be quite tempting, though I will admit that there isn't anywhere in particular that we want to go or see. But if there are any places that you think are important, we would be perfectly willing to see them. Right, Ed?"
Edmond had calmed down a bit by now. He listened in on their conversation, but chose not to join in. Nic was the talker and he was his guard. It wasn't his job to get to know the wolves that Nic talked to. Though, he did keep a close eye on these two twins. If these two were going to be giving them some sort of tour, he needed to make sure to stay on guard for any traps.

Kanga, Manaaki;
Thankfully, neither male before them seemed to have noticed Manaaki's almost-hesitation. Kanga was thankful for that, and Manaaki even more so. He didn't need his brother's frustratingly painful past brought up with complete strangers. Kanga wasn't even comfortable with Amora knowing yet, and she was perhaps the wolf that they both knew the most about in the valley. Even still they didn't know much about her, but they had met her on more than a few occasions, and had always left in reasonably good spirits. There was Kailypso as well, Manaaki figured—she and his brother had talked for a full day together—but Kanga hadn't exactly left that encounter in the best of moods, and hadn't seen her since.
But that was all besides the point. The point was that neither male had noticed, and so both twins were able to maintain relative comfort in the unfamiliar company. Kanga was always slower to warm-up to new wolves than Manaaki was, but once he did so he was a goofy, loud, arrogant, and extraordinarily loyal friend. As such, however, Manaaki was pleasantly surprised that Kanga was opening up (at least a little bit) to the kind strangers—even if most of his jokes and ease were in direct relation to the older twin—but it was something.
"Ah, well if there is nowhere you fancy on visiting, far be it from us to drag you there," Manaaki said, chuckling softly and not pointing out that, probably, it would be reasonably easy for the twins to do such a thing. "Besides, Kai Lake, which is where we find ourselves now, is as good a destination in the summer as any." Kanga nodded alongside. "There are a few other places of interest," Kanga spoke up with a sound like distant-thunder. "There's the Ruins of Abetyu, those are strange—and with the straightest rocks you've ever seen. Also the Adoette Tree—again, strange, with markings the likes that no wolf could rightly make." His dark eyes flashed and the ghost of a smile danced across his jaw. "There's also the Forest of Love, steer clear of that one, my friends—it's as potent as you would imagine." He grinned fully now, surprising Manaaki once more. It would seem that he was getting comfortable, and fast. He then turned his bulk to face the mountain that was visible from anywhere within the valley. "And that." "The White Wolves Mountain," Manaaki finished. He didn't go into the detail of it, for it was difficult to be in the valley for long and hear nothing about it, and Manaaki didn't want to tell the males anything they already knew. But he was full of answers should they ask.
"What brings two close friends, such as yourselves, into our humble valley?" Kanga asked, offering up a new avenue of conversation, while sitting and digging contently at the dirt under his claws.

Nicolas and Edmond;
The males were quite kind, both boys took note. Despite having just met each other (and almost trampling over one-another), the two brothers were open to playfulness and were willing to answer questions. Manakii, the silver twin, had even offered some suggestions of interesting places to visit in the valley. The so-called Abetyu Ruins sounded interesting. As did the Adoette tree, the markings that they spoke of especially curious. At the name of the next location, Nicolas snickered.
"The name says it all. I think we'll steer clear. I'm guessing it wouldn't hard to recognize it?" After he said his question, he noticed that the male's gaze had turned away. He followed his gaze to see the mountain, the one that had been visible even before the two males entered the valley. He knew the mountain by name and knew basic information, but he didn't know everything that he needed to. In reality, he needed to know everything he could about it. If he ever wanted to return back home with some sort of proof that he deserved to be the next Leader, that information was crucial. He wasn't going to state that, though. Plus, it wasn't like he was going to be going home any time soon, regardless of if he went to the mountain or not.
Nic did have questions, but Edmond, finally seeming to get over his shock, got to them first. "What can you tell us about the wolves that live there?" He had taken a step forward and had instantly asked it with an eager voice before any of them had been able to react. Nic turned his head and glared in Ed's direction. "Don't be rude." Ed opened his mouth to protest, but slightly bowed his head and stepped back, remaining silent again. Nic's teal eyes turned back to the two brothers, then hearing the final question.
"In our pack we were constantly told stories of a magical mountain and a valley full of colorful wolves. For the longest time we didn't really believe them, but, then again, my colors aren't exactly natural, so it was possible. When we got a bit older we asked if we could come here to check it out for ourselves. They were reluctant to let us leave, but they understood our curiosity." He did slightly feel bad for lying, but, as terrible as it was, that had been one skill that Nic had learned in all of his training. If the situation called for it, say the first answer that makes sense and stick with it without giving away the truth if the truth is something that needed to remain hidden. He had been taught to say fake answers as if they were true, almost convincing himself in his mind that they really were so that it would come out as natural. In this case, he had answered as he had with all of their other questions. He didn't suddenly get serious or nervous. He just stayed as he was. "We do plan on going back to our pack eventually. But for now we just want to see what this place is like. Maybe even live here for a while."

Manaaki, Kanga;
The Forest of Love got a snicker out of them, and rightly so. Kanga's own devilish smile flashed out in response to Nic's expression. He nodded vigorously. "Oh, you'll recognize it, alright," The russet brother rumbled, with a chuckle. "Aside from the needy wolves just yowling through the area, looking for some fast affection, if you know what I mean—the trees are... pink." Another sharp-toothed smile. "And the blasted things never lose their leaves, either. Nope. A hard one to miss, that." Manaaki smirked at the synopsis of the forest. Kanga's words were all true, of course, though Manaaki himself might have painted the love-searchers in a gentler light; after all, the forest was aptly named. It seemed that some wolves couldn't help themselves.
The other wolf, Edmond, then spoke up rather abruptly. A light was in his eyes then as he spoke, but was quickly chastised by Nic. The twins' keen eyes picked up the quick exchange easily, noticing how Edmond dropped all pretenses of opposition when Nicolas reprimanded him. Kanga's brow raised, and was about to comment, when Manaaki interrupted him. There was no sense turning things sour so soon. "The wolves that live here are indeed colourful," He said, speaking to both wolves but verifying what Nic had said. "Kanga and I wouldn't exactly stick out in a crowd, but there are plenty of green, blue, or pink wolves—any colour or pattern you could imagine, really. And the mountain—" He hesitated. He and Kanga had never actually met the White Wolves, but they had lived in the valley long enough to have heard plenty about them. "It is indeed magical." Kanga took up the conversation, then. "Four immortal and gifted wolves live atop it in their own respective caves. White Magic, the mother, is a healer the likes of which you've never seen before. She can mend almost anything—though doesn't always choose to." Kanga's eyes sparkled. Often, he had imagined that White Magic was the most powerful of all White Wolves—for if a wolf could be healed constantly, again and again... what stood in their way, really?
"The other three White Wolves are her daughters," Manaaki continued. "And believe it or not—they can gift powers to wolves that seek them and are fit to receive them." He nodded, highlighting that which seemed unbelievable. "Wolves here are fantastic creatures, thanks to the White Wolves. Some can control fire, others turn invisible... still others can communicate telepathically to you, or uproot whole trees and throw them at their enemies..." The silver twin rarely allowed such colour to leak into his voice. "Not all wolves that seek are blessed, but those that are can be forces to be reckoned with." Of course, neither brother had ever met a wolf that they felt truly intimidated by, but they were very much aware that there were some gifted wolves running around the valley that could turn them into mince-meat all too easily.
"Within this valley there are three alliances that wolves conduct themselves under. Good, neutral, and evil, and there is a White Wolf daughter for each. Taboo, for the good; Sheba, for us—the neutral; and Geist, for the latter." Kanga's tail thrashed behind him. He had heard that it was only Geist that would give out fire powers, as well. Such things were apparently deemed too harsh and dangerous for the other wolves to give out. Kanga grinned then, which chased the rest of the seriousness from the conversation. "So steer clear. If you see a wolf running around with an oddly-coloured tattoo somewhere on their body, just remember. If you tick them off, they might just be able to knock a cliff on top of you." He snickered. Even very powerful stone wolves couldn't do that, he was pretty sure, but a little bit of exaggeration never hurt anybody.
The brothers listened as Nic finished his explanation of why they were in the valley. Kanga rumbled low in his throat in thought, and Manaaki sat down, allowing his eyes to drift over the lake beside them. Kanga hadn't forgotten the way that Edmond stood down so suddenly from Nicolas, but he didn't think it was an appropriate question to ask about. "It certainly isn't an awful place to live," Manaaki echoed.

Nicolas and Edmond;
At the very thought that the 'Forest of Love' was represented by pink trees, Nicolas almost began to laugh. It all seemed ridiculous, but he knew it was possible. In a land like this, anything was possible. Manakii began to talk about how the wolves of the land were colorful, but Nic did find one of his comments amusing. "You two? Not stand out? Impossible."
He then began to speak of the White Wolves of the mountain. He listened as the male spoke of White Magic, the mother and healer of the mountain, as well as her three daughters who were known to gift mortal wolves powers. So they are the ones that father always talked about, he thought, making sure to take in every word that he said but remain calm. He then heard the comment that the male made about wolves with colored tattoos and ones who could throw whole trees at their enemies and his eyes slightly widened.
"Only out of curiosity, who is the most powerful wolf that you know, minus the white ones? I know that I won't know them, but wolves that can control fire, turn invisible, and the latter. I'm guessing that since you know all of this you have seen wolves that can do these things?" He somewhat shrugged his shoulders, looking back to the two wolves with a smile. "I'm not gonna say that I don't believe in wolves getting powers blessed upon them, but it would be very interesting to see and get proof." His eyes widened again, then seeming to glance around the two males for a moment before looking them back in the eyes. "Neither of you have powers, do you?" he asked with curiosity.
All the while, Edmond stayed quiet, making sure he kept an eye on the two males. He actually took notice of some strange looks coming from both of them after Ed had been ordered by Nic. That wasn't exactly a good thing. If they had seen something odd in the way that Nic ordered him, they might assume some things, which they didn't need. He had to make a decision, for Nic's sake. So, in his mind, he chose his next course of action, should it come.

Kanga, Manaaki;
The male dubbed Nic (the more conversational and friendly of the two, it would seem: the Kanga to Ed's Manaaki) made a joke about the twins not standing out in a crowd. Kanga turned and gave Manaaki a dumb, sideways smile, tilting his head. Manaaki smirked quietly, shifting his weight from paw to paw. Yes, Nic had them there. Standing a good head and shoulders taller than almost every other wolf they came across... the boys were not ones to overlook. Nic then asked which wolf was the most powerful the brothers had come across. Such a question brought them up short, for there were so many wolves they had met that were gifted. Kanga glanced to Manaaki and furrowed his brow in thought. Manaaki fell into deep thought as well, though less obviously than Kanga did.
"Well..." Kanga started, his deep voice rumbling out from his throat like the sound a cliff might make were it to be cracked by previously-imagined stone wolves. "From what I understand, the powers here work in a sort of tier system. The beginners are still gifted, of course, but there are wolves with the same gift that may be at higher tiers. From all the stories I have heard, there are three levels of recognizable power-shifting." The russet brother grinned once more. "As for wolves at that highest tier... There's Perjury." Neither brother had ever met her, but tales of the Alphess of Frigid Plague traveled far and wide. "She holds complete power over the very soil on which we walk, and all things rooted in it." He lifted his brow, would have waggled it if he could, gazing at Nic and letting his gaze flit to Edmond. Perjury was evil, yes, but all of the stories they had heard lead them to believe that she was not quite as evil (at least not the same style of evil) as Fjord, for example. He demanded a mention as well, with his vicious Ice power—so strong, even at the (supposedly) lowest tier.
"Another wolf rumored to be within the highest level of their gift is Nyx," Manaaki added, picking up the conversation. Again, neither brother had met this female, but she had her own host of rumors. "She controls the shadows of all things. Darkness has no hold over her eyes. She doesn't sleep. She rarely eats." He let his words die slowly. There was something seriously wrong with that wolf, or so he had heard. No sense dwelling on it. Kanga watched the other two for any sort of reaction, hearing about the power of these two females. Then an idea came to him and he snapped his head over to his silver brother. "Another powerful wolf controls plant life and all organic things." He shot a quick, vicious glance sideways at his older brother. "Not even at the height of her power, and already a force of nature. Amora." He said her name quietly and didn't look at his brother again, but a slow and private grin flashed on his mouth momentarily. Manaaki kept his face straight, but not without effort.
Kanga stood then and padded his bulk over to the side of the water, just as Nic asked them another question. Kanga snorted, reaching forward and batting at the water with a single, heavy paw. He shook his head, glancing back over his shoulder at the more talkative male. "Manaaki and I don't need powers to uproot trees." This time, his goofy smile was aimed directly at their company, something that Manaaki took notice of. He hummed low in his stomach, proud of his brother. Such advances were never a bad thing. "As for actually fire-gifted wolves, there are some—" Their Alphess Blaise, for one. "But fire-gifts are rare. Rare and dangerous."
"What about you two?" Manaaki said, directing his voice now towards Edmond. This other male was quiet, yes, but Manaaki had a feeling he was not slow. Sometimes it did better to keep one's mouth shut and their ears open—a trait Kanga had never quite figured out. "Growing up with stories of the valley, surely you would have heard at least rumors of gifted wolves? Is there a power that calls to you...?"

Nicolas and Edmond;
The two twins had exchanged glances, processing Nic's comment of them standing out and also seeming to contemplate the answer of his questions. He glanced over in Ed's direction for a moment, the glance being returned by the gray male. The two seemed to exchange words somehow without words, but perhaps that was merely them having similar thoughts. The black and teal-furred wolf then looked back to the twins.
A tier system for powers. Maybe that meant that wolves could be categorized based on their abilities into three levels of sorts. It sounded like a pretty interesting system, especially when hearing about the wolves who were at the peak of their powers. Perjury, a wolf who controlled the ground under their feet. Nyx, a master of the shadows, like a queen of darkness in a way. There was also a mention of another wolf, but the name was slightly mumbled while their description was not. Nic thought he heard the name start with an a, but he could be wrong. But this unknown wolf controlled plants. All of these wolves sounded interesting. For a moment, the desire to meet the three wolves mentioned came to mind, but he quickly put those thoughts to the back.
He did smirk and slightly nod when one of the twins said about them not needing powers to removed trees from the ground. Somehow, he didn't doubt that it was possible for them, especially if their strength was put together. But he was surprised to find that his question had been reversed and used on him. It wasn't immediately noticeable, but Ed's orange eyes had suddenly turned in Nic's direction when the question was asked. He didn't move his head or really show that he was paying attention, but he seemed to be waiting for the answer.
Nic had to go about this carefully. Don't make any word choices that would sound suspicious. But even not thinking about that, he actually was slightly dumbfounded. He then realized that, despite the fact that he had technically come to the valley to get a power, he had never even thought about what one or kind he would get. He seemed slightly puzzled by the question, but took a few moments trying to decide.
"What power..." Manaaki was half right. Nic had grown up hearing stories about the White Wolves and he did in fact know some of the powers that they offered, but he didn't know all of them, nor did he know the seasons they came in or how they worked. "Hmm.....I will say that I don't know every power available. But some of the ones that I know I have thought about before. Teleportation, Barrier, Electricity, and River are four that I have wondered about. Unfortunately there are very few others that I know both the name and the abilities of. I've heard of Shadow Mastery, as well as Telekinesis and Flame. But beyond that I only know just the name, just the ability, or neither." He slightly shrugged, knowing that it wasn't really much of an answer. But he had never really thought about this question until now, so he didn't have any set power that he would want were he to go to the mountain.
He then glanced over at Edmond, knowing it might seem strange if Ed didn't answer, even though Ed had no intensions of ever getting a power. "What about you, Ed? You've never actually told me what kind of power you would want if you ever went there." Technically that was a lie, but also wasn't. The only thing Ed had ever said about powers or the White wolves was that he didn't need any powers. That didn't necessarily mean that he didn't want one, though. Once again, another thing that Nic hadn't thought about until now.
Ed remained silent for a moment, either thinking or not paying attention. He then glanced over, not quite going into depth like Nic had done. "Were I ever to go there, Barrier or Crystal." Nic's eyes actually widened. Crystal? What was that and how did Ed know about it but he didn't? When Ed then looked over towards the woods, his eyes locked on where the two giants had come flying towards him, Nic somewhat leaned over, glancing over at Manaaki and whispering, "Um...what exactly is Crystal? Surprisingly enough, he's never really talked to me about what power he would want if he got one, so this is new to me."
