Logic VS The Impossible (Tagged and Open)

E

There was another wolf close by. Dangerously close by. E could smell it. Her head shot up, and she began to scan the snowscape around her for any sign of movement. Her paws spread and her tail flared — she was ready to fight if that's what it came down to. Then… a sound… it came from the Tree.

E’s breath caught in her throat. It was everything she had feared. The Tree was magic. It was alive. She stumbled back, eyes fixed up at the ominous carvings wrapping around the bark, and the sound, the crunching sound, it continued on, steady and terrifying. The color pink flashed from behind the Tree, and something shot out and barreled across the ice toward E. Without thinking, she sat back and lifted her forelegs, then she brought her claws down in one swift, panicked movement.
The thing resolved into focus. A small wolf. No, a pup.
E cringed. What is wrong with me?

There was a tiny fleck of red in the snow between them. She narrowed her eyes and saw that there was a scratch on the pup’s shoulder, just a knick. She shrank.

“I’m… I’m sorry. I didn't mean to.”

E heard his name. Tuhota. She also heard the other wolf introduce himself as Baal. She didn't say her name, though. E always made a habit of not throwing her name around willy-nilly.

Tuhota;

Apparently he had gotten too close, as he had slipped into the scene. He blinked stupidly at the ground after having chatted his mouth off. He had been so excited that he had assumed the frightened female wolf had missed. She had sounded like the paranoid and skittish type from the way she had been ignorantly talking about magic. He tried to imagine her walking through his packlands, where there was dark magic plenty, and bloody smiles that would drive the wolfess crazy.

Right now though, he was wondering about the speck of blood, glancing at his shoulder (best he could with his squished pup features) and then back at the female, face aghast.

“Uhm, well.” He said stupidly, there was an anger boiling inside him, but he had been taught not to let emotions roll out of his mouth when he spoke. If he did, he probably wouldn’t have any friends, not even his siblings would want to be near his sharp tongue in that case.

He glanced at the male, wondering what his reaction would be to the situation.

“Ouch.” His adrenalin that had been masking the pain was starting to wear off and the prickly of pain started to come to his shoulder.

“That was uncool.” He sat down, favoring his leg that was attached to the shoulder she had nicked. The image of the female in his packlands flashed again in his mind, and he realized why she looked like she belonged in his pack. She was cowering and afraid, submissive, very much like the other slaves that crept warily in the shadows of others. Huh. It was an anticipated thought, looking down at the drop of blood that stood in high contrast against the white snow. If she had been a slave, there would have been consequences. He was young, but he knew that these wolves could not be held under his pack’s law here in the wild. His intricate gaze glanced up at the two now, a storm brewing behind his collected and now more withdrawn gaze.

Baal;

Baal's eyes widened slightly as small drops of blood hit the white snow. He was more surprised at the fact that he didn't notice until now rather than being surprised at the pup having a wound.

With focused eyes, Baal tilts his head to get a better look at the wound to find out how bad it was, although, because of the small amount of blood, it probably wouldn't be a severe cut, but instead just a small nick. But, Baal caught onto the change in Tuhota's eyes and his voice changing slightly in pitch, along with him becoming quieter in general. Baal's voice is smooth and calm as he speaks to the pup, hopefully enough to distract him from the fact that the female had accidentally scratched him.

"Are you okay? It doesn't look to be a bad cut. Just make sure to watch it and keep it clean. Avoid infection."

The large male then turns to the wolf, her name still unknown, with the same look he gave the smaller wolf.

"You really are jumpy. Aren't you," He finishes with a small laugh, trying to lighten the mood, but the dark atmosphere that surrounds the pup makes the sky and surrounding area seem a little darker.

There was an anger rising in the pup. E’s instincts responded by raising her hackles and building a growl in the back of her throat. Her rationality responded by not letting that growl be released, so that it only vibrated in her windpipe, and she struggled not to bare her teeth. It was only a pup, she reminded herself. In fact, if anyone had a right to be worried, it was him. Tuhota was a small thing in comparison with her and Baal. It wouldn’t be difficult to kill or do serious damage to him right then. But why did he look so threatening? He was certainly large for his age, and he held himself with a youthful invincibility, like nothing would dare hurt him. In her adolescence, E had not been blessed with such a privilege.

She did not like the way Tuhota looked at her thoughtfully, like he was sizing her up, figuring her out. E stiffened, her expression stone so that her emotions did not show through. Perhaps a little too coldly, she said, “It will heal fast.”

“You really are jumpy, aren't you?” Baal laughed at the end of this remark, probably to try and ease the tension of the situation. Unfortunately, it was quite difficult to ease or comfort E. What would really help her anxiety, she realized, was to be alone. And in a den. The snow was picking up, and freezing to death was an awful way to go.

“Cautious,” she corrected Baal with a fearful glance at the Tree. “I’m cautious.” Her gaze shifted from the Tree to Tuhota to Baal, then up to the sky that was growing ever whiter. There were four different threats in the area right now. Hoping to escape at least two of them, she recommended, “We should find shelter.”

Tuhota;

His eyes honed in on the male who started to speak to him calmly and logically. This male obviously did not know who he was and what he had been taught about consequences. There were consequences to actions, all actions – this action needed a consequence. What irked him more was while she had apologized before; she brushed it off with the assumption it would heal.

Of course it would heal, “I know that.” He muttered, irritated by the way they were talking to him like he was a pup. Well, he was, but he wasn’t that young. Or small. He watched the way the female glanced nervously at the tree and informed the male she was cautious. He smirked lightly, but made it look like it was about her suggesting that they find shelter. His striking blue-rimmed eyes glanced up at the sky where snow was trickling slowly from the cloudy sky. Tuhota wondered if he could just return home before the storm arrived – but it seemed like a bad idea getting stuck along the way on his own…

His wine tipped tail wagged behind him as he kept his balance while he stood. Tuhota winced dramatically as he put weight on scraped shoulder, but cleared his throat. “Well, adults, lead the way.” He piped, trying to resume his earlier energy, but finding the turn of events not to his liking so far. So far, his pack seemed to have everything right – the world needed to burn. It needed new management. With fools like these blundering around, teamwork would be nigh impossible. Especially if every time you turned around a female was nicking you because she was ‘cautious’.

He blinked up at them expectedly. If he was going to be treated like a pup, he wasn’t going to take responsibility meant for adults.

Baal;

The glint in Tuhota's eyes sends a ting to the dull-coated male's face slightly put off by the pup's rudeness. The sudden feeling that this pup didn't have an attitude that merged well with his own attitude. The pup's tone of voice caused the much larger male to be reluctant to even attempt at finding a shelter. Plus, it didn't help that Baal is still fairly new to the valley, only having actually been walking past the mountains for about a year.


His sharp, bronze gaze looked toward the female, ignoring her correction. The male had never heard of a "cautious" wolf that would jump and accidentally injure a wolf pup. Instead his mind completely shuts out their earlier conversation, seeing as it's quite obvious that the timid female's previous words have been mostly, if not all lies.

"Well, I'm new to this area. I'm not sure of any shelters near by." Baal's eyes, now not accompanied by his signature warm smile, are demanding and sharp. They're much darker and have a sort of unreadable glint. Having two wolves with not-so-fun personalities make the situation seem almost burdensome to Baal, which in turn, takes his motivation for being his friendliest self at the moment.

The usually silent, welcoming male only became more silent, but not so welcoming. Being around what he considered to be badly mannered wolves made him less than happy about the situation he was in, something that is rarely seen with the towering figure. Like everyone else, he has his bad days too.
