(Emorli, this is a thread for meeting Baal and potentially becoming founders of Etheral Dawn. I eventually got around to writing this haha!)
Auroras, Pandora:
Bitter as the wind was, the Redwoods still seemed to amaze. The tall, reddish-brown trees had managed to catch a bit of snowfall on their thin branches and the occasional glints of sun made it glow like a crystal. Or what she thought looked like a crystal, for she had not seen a shining gem before. Auroras always managed to find the beauty of any season, even at its worst moments. She glanced at the sky. Dark clouds of grey drifted slowly along the sky, threatening rain and storms, but she wasn't going to take cover unless it was a definite. Though she was not seeking shelter, the she-wolf brought herself to her paws and trotted along, leaving a light print in the snow. Why was it that she was here? She did not know, though she was enjoying the nature that surrounded her for sure. A sharp call filled the air. Auroras lifted her ears warily as she tried to locate the sound. Nothing came to her. 'Maybe my imagination is playing tricks on me...' The she-wolf sighed and continued on her leisurely stroll through the freezing path.
There was no cry in the air for the next few minutes. While she had mostly convinced herself it was just her imagination, a piece of her tugged furiously that it was a cry of a wolf. A wolf in need. Auroras still dismissed it though, even if her nature went against possibly leaving another living being that needed her assistance. She swished her tail in annoyance at herself. 'There is no voice! There is no wolf in need! I need to stop considering my imaginative thoughts.' Her mind-voice was firm, with a flicker of anger to try and drive out that pestering piece of her mind. Though it didn't help when a supposed second cry filled the empty air.
This time. She ran.
Paws thundering and heart thudding she made her way east. Her ears guided her, eyes kept her safe. There was whistling in her ears too, maybe another cry or two but she was going to fast to say for sure. Even at such speeds, the scent of a stranger was apparent. 'I must be close.' Her mind reminded her. She noticed they had not masked their scent even the slightest bit, a clear path for a predator to follow. It didn't surprise her though, they must be desperate. A wave of worry was washing over her and guilt filled her gut. Why hadn't she listened the first time? Her senses weren't that bad after all. The face of another wolf came to greet her and Auroras slowed and skidded to a halt. Who was this?
"Hiya there! I thought someone would have to come and play with me eventually."Pandora was an older but still immature and naïve pup, obviously she was lucky Auroras was a kind-hearted wolf that did not dare take advantage of her. The older female almost shook her head in dismay. If she was going to teach this pup a skill or two on how to at least survive till she was an adolescent, she'd have a good chance playing a game while doing it. "You'll have to be a little more careful the next time you call out dear." Her voice was not unkind, but it did put out the obvious suggestion that the young wolf be more cautious in the future. "You never know what you'll run into around here, especially those not-so-friendly wolves." There was a slight tilt to her head, a small and sweet smile upon her as Auroras made the quick extra comment. Pandora didn't quite absorb this fully, but still replied all the same. "I'll try for sure!" There was obvious touch of optimism in her cute little voice and slightly chubby face. Auroras’ ear flicked slightly, picking up a slight rustle and a crack of bracken.
Her eyes narrowed just a touch, unconsciously placing her body between the bush and Pandora. The young pup didn’t question this, or even thought she was in danger. She was just simply puzzled on why the she-wolf was standing in front of her and blocking her view. Auroras gently eased her shoulders into a relaxed position and kept her fur flat on her back. Her sky coloured eyes stayed slightly suspicious, but otherwise she was impassive and unreadable. She sat silently, only those who knew her enough could see she was on edge and waiting for anything to happen.
