CursedErin A brown she-wolf strode into the Oasis on purple and white legs. The white points above her eyes moved like eyebrows as she surveyed the area, looking for a suitable spot to have a seat. Coria really enjoyed the oasis-it was her favorite feature of the Honovi territory and she wanted to share it with her new friend Trick. She trotted closer to the pool of water and had a drink of the nice cool liquid. She then took a seat by the water's edge so she could look into the pool. It was so clear, she could almost see to the bottom.
"Hey Trick." She called "Come over here by the water. Its cool and refreshing if you'd like a drink."

The blind wolf stumbled every few steps he walked, tripping over various things as he struggled to keep up with Coria. He followed her scent almost perfectly, following directly behind her in the path she walked. He smelt water nearby as he followed, before she stopped. Trick however didn't know she had stopped, and almost bumped right into her, stopping as he heard her speak.
He padded to her side and put his nose to the ground, scenting around again until he found the edge of the water. He placed his front paws at the water bank and then sat down on his haunches. The male leaned forward and down, keeping his weight back as he didn't feel like going for a swim. He soon drank up the water from the oasis and then sat himself back up.
"Aaah.. Delicious." he said to Coria, turning his head to her and smiling happily. He turned his nose up into the air and sniffed, wondering what was around. "Hey Coria? What's around us?" he asked her, wanting to put blurred images to what he could smell. The white colored wolf turned his head back to face her, his gray eyes looking right over her muzzle as he awaited an answer.

Coria sat beningnly at the water's edge and looked at both her's and Trick's reflections in the water when he bent down to drink. She liked how they looked together, just like friends, like they were supposed to be together in this moment. Then Trick backed away and his reflection went with him.
The brown and white wolf thought for a moment before deciding how to answer. "We are in a lush, green oasis. The grass is a vibrant green even though its autumn and there are a few trees within the oasis as well. They are a healthy green color, just as vibrant as the grass and the bark on their trunks is a rich brown." Coria looked around, hoping to see other things she could describe to Trick. She spotted a small bed of flowers across the pool from them. "Across the water there are some beautiful pink flowers. They're pale but they almost seem to sparkle in the sunlight. Maybe if the wind changes we'll be able to smell them." Finally all that was left was the water. "Directly in front of us is the pool of water. The liquid is totally clear - not murky at all. I can see right down to the bottom of the pool and there are pebbles covering its floor. Little fish that are all colors of the rainbow - orange, brown, white, black - any color you can imagine - are swimming around. Theres also some underwater flora that is green and it waves gently when fish or other water creatures swim past. I love this pool because I can see a whole world in it." Coria smiled and looked back to Trick. "Um..Trick if you don't mind me asking, have you always been...blind?"

Trick bent his head back down to the clear water below to take another drink while he listened to Coria. After a short while he raised his head back up and turned his blind eyes and his head back to her once again. He listened to everything that she had to say. At the question she asked, he lowered his ears a bit closer to his head and his facial expression changed to a bit of a saddened one. "Well. As far as I can remember, I have always been blind.. But I think when I was a young young pup, I wasn't.. I still get a few flashbacks in my head of what I could see at the time, my mother and father.. Whom died before I was able to even understand their names and what the world was.. Like I can vaguely remember colors, so I sort of know what you're talking about when you say stuff such as green, orange, white, black.. Even though the last two are technically shades." he paused and smirked a bit. "I just don't know what some colors are.. Like red, yellow, pink, and purple. I don't think I ever saw those four as a young pup.." he replied, looking down at the ground as he focused and tried to remember.
It was a bit of a weird experience for him, opening himself up to someone he barely knew, but at the same time it felt good. He had frowned at first and then smiled a bit to reassure her everything was okay, but also smiling because he was a bit happy talking for once and explaining to someone. His tail even wagged a little bit happily.

Coria listened intently to Trick's tale and wondered if she'd struck a sore spot when she saw the expression he made when she asked the question. However, he continued on with his story so perhaps he trusted Coria a little bit, or at least enough to tell her something personal. She blushed slightly when Trick told her about shades and she tried not to laugh at the notion of a blind wolf attempting to teach her about colors. Trick's story was a sad one but he seemed to be good natured about it.
Coria thought a moment about how she could describe these colors that Trick hadn't seen. "Red is similar in sensation to heat. I always associate the scorching dirt or sand with the color red. As for yellow, its a beautiful and bright color, the color of the sun. I think of yellow when the suns ray's warm me. As for pink and purple they are vibrant and full of life. I think of purple when I roll around in a soft flower bed and feel the petals on my fur. Pink is a color I associate with love and warmth and I think of it when I think of...family." Coria wondered if what she was speaking to Trick was coming out as nonsense but she surely hoped it wasn't.
Coria thought of her own past and wanted to share it with Trick. "I think its very brave of you not to be bitter about your situation. I was either picked on or totally ostracized as a pup based only on my shyness." Coria then tried to push back a particularly painful memory she had from her puphood days of being tricked into thinking she had made some friends. "I always seem to carry it with me that I have few friends. I don't mean to dwell on it but for some reason the desire to make friends and the inability to do so haunts me." Coria sighed deeply when she thought of these things.

Trick looked in Coria's direction again as he finished her story, before he slowly scooted his haunches back and laid himself down. As he laid himself down, he let his right fore-paw fall into the water in front of him. Soon enough, he heard Coria speak up and start to tell him about colors. The male turned his head to look up at her and listen to what she had to say, he was always interested in what others had to say.
He smiled a bit as Coria explained the colors to him, he replied for each of them as well. "So red.." he paused as he got another flash back, which caused him to shake for a slight moment. "Err.. I'll skip that one." he said, gulping down before speaking again. "Yellow.. The sun, a color of happiness and warmth. Purple... Sounds like it goes well with the color of green, reflecting life in both, nature in the other and then the vibrancy in one. Pink.. Sounds like.. Love, a feeling, and emotion, romantic." he spoke, before hearing her tone change and feeling a change in the air as she spoke.
Quickly the male rose back up to a seated position as he heard her speak. He frowned a bit before smiling back up once more, nuzzling his nose and muzzle against her cheek. "Don't let it get you down. Past situations can only harm and sadden you if you let them. So don't." he replied, smiling at Coria happily.

Coria nodded as Trick described what the colors meant to him. She blushed slightly when he mentioned that pink mean romance only because she had never felt that way before. Sure she had wolves she cared about and she was so happy that Calamity had come with her to join up with Honovi, but she didn't feel anything but friendship or acquaintanceship for her packmates. Perhaps it didn't matter for now, maybe someday she'd feel something akin to romance.
Coria smiled happily when Trick nuzzled her and she felt better about her past. This was her chance to start new, to start with the Honovi pack and her new friends. Trick was right, she shouldn't let her past stand in the way of her future. "Thanks Trick." she said with a smile. Even though he couldn't see it, she hoped he could hear the happiness in her voice. "Do you want to go for a swim?" she asked, dipping her white paw in the pool and splashing it a little bit.

Trick hoped Coria would feel a bit better, and just like that, he felt a flicker in the aura around him, smiling himself as he seemed to know she felt happier. "I'd help you anytime I could.." he replied, happily nuzzling her again as she smiled and then spoke about swimming. The blind wolf felt his heart drop a bit as she wanted him to go swimming. He gulped as he waited for a second, trying to determine whether or not he should explain something to her or not.
"I.. Err.. I don't know how to swim.. I'm.... Afraid of water.. A-At least enough water that I could sink in." he replied sheepishly and quietly, backing up from her and the water bank. It was fine for him to dip his paw in, or even take drinks from the water, but he had always been afraid of swimming, and water. He laid himself down defensively, curling slightly away from Coria, a bit embarrassed.

Coria rushed into the water and felt the coolness of it wash over her paws. Luckily it was only ankle deep at the bank but it got slightly deeper out towards the very middle. The brown she wolf turned around to see that Trick had not left the bank and had actually backed away. When she heard he didn't know how to swim and that he was frightened of water, she felt bad but only because he'd never enjoyed the joys of frolicking in water.
"Its ok I used to be afraid of water as a pup too. But water can be friendly, it can make you float if you just let it. The water I'm in now is only ankle deep. I think the pool gets really deep towards the middle but if you come in a little ways where its shallow enough to stand, I can teach you to swim." Coria trotted out of the water and up to Trick. "You don't have to be afraid." she said "I'm right here with you."

Trick was still hesitant to come near the water, but he was beginning to trust Coria enough. "A-Alright.. But I'm trusting you.. Basically with my life.." he replied, maybe over-exaggerating a little bit as he stood himself up and inched towards the edge of the water. As he reached the edge he dipped a paw in and slowly pressed it down. As it hit the bottom of the water, he blinked curiously and placed his other fore-paw in. Before he added his hind-paws, he looked up nervously in Coria's direction, before slowly making all of his feet be submerged in the cool water.
He seemed to struggle walking in the ankle deep water for the moment, as he tried to progress into the water. It wasn't long before he slipped and almost fell. Immediately he retreated back out of the water for a moment, climbing quickly onto the bank with dripping wet paws. His tail between his legs, and his ears lowered, he carefully and slowly tried to make his way back into the water.

Coria smiled encouragingly before remembering that Trick couldn't see her. She then pushed her head into his head gently to let him know she was there and as a gesture of reassurance. "Its alright, I'm an experienced swimmer and I'll make sure nothing bad happens." The she wolf watched closely as Trick stepped lightly into the water. He was doing quite well before his paw slipped and he thrashed in the water. It was quite a scare so it was understandable that he backed out of the water.
"The pebbles on the bank are slick with algae so it takes some getting used to to make sure you keep your footing." Really Coria believed that the slipping on the pebbles was scarier than actually allowing the water to carry you freely but they would get there when they got there. Coria was thrilled when Trick stepped back into the water without having to be prompted. She could tell he really wanted to learn and Coria didn't want to let him down. "Okay how about this. I will stand in front of you and you can hold my tail in your jaws. That way you'll have some sense of a guide and you can tug on it for leverage if you start to slip." Maybe it wasn't a perfect plan but it was a start.

Trick was a bit embarrassed that he had fallen and then retreated to the bank like a coward. He listened to what Coria had to say, honing in until he was looking at her once again. "N-No... I don't want to accidentally yank and pull on your tail.. I don't want to hurt you.." he replied sheepishly before slowly stepping his paws back into the water. He was more cautious this time as he started to step his way through the water, he would follow Coria's scent instead of grabbing onto her tail.
The pads of his feet gripped at the algae covered rocks beneath him as he stood and walked, slowly, one paw at a time. The fear of drowning was always present in him, and it was a bit obvious as he stepped around nervously. His claws were out, trying their hardest to grip onto the floor beneath him and keep him upright instead of slipping and falling into the water. "Wh-When does it get deeper..?" his voice shook a little as he spoke.

Coria smiled when Trick said he didn't want to grab onto her tail in fear of hurting her. He really was a sweet wolf and Coria was touched that he thought of her well being. The brown wolf decided, instead, to circle around and come up next to Trick so they could walk in the water side by side. As she began plodding along with him, the water got up to chest level but she could still comfortably walk along the bottom. However, Coria decided to lift her paws up and tread water instead, letting the water hold her weight. "We aren't at the deep part yet, thats further into the middle of the pool. For now I think this is a good stopping point. Try lifting up your front paws. I want you to feel how the water can hold you if you let it." Coria was still treading water right next to Trick and was ready to grab at his scruff with her jaws if he sank too deep.

It wasn't so much as a fear of water for the white pelted wolf, as it was the fear of the unknown. Any wolf could jump into the water and figure out how to swim just by watching another wolf swim. Trick couldn't do that, all he could do was listen and hope for the best as he struggle to do various things. His mind had been deep in thought for those few moments before he felt a familiar pelt touch against him. The blind wolf blushed lightly before he started walking alongside Coria into the deeper parts of the water.
He started to shake a bit as they got into the chest high water level and stopped, he was stopping with Coria whenever she wanted to, and as quickly as possible to avoid himself going into water deeper than a few wolves. Trick looked in her direction and slowly nodded. Nervously, he slowly picked up his front paws and started to float up in the water. Not used to the sensation of weightlessness, Trick accidentally kicked his front paws and back paws around a it before beginning to roll to one side in the water. Quickly, he shot his paws back down to grab at the floor with his pads. His feet slipped on the pond floor and his front half fell into the water.

Coria watched as Trick slowly picked his feet up from the bottom of the pond bed. The white wolf began thrashing as the sensation of weightlessness frightened him. Coria smiled as she saw this because she had been the same way the first time she had gotten into the water. At first, she did nothing and allowed Trick to struggle because he needed to learn how his body felt in the water but then he started sinking forward. "Uh oh." Coria said before plunging her head under water. The brown she wolf grabbed Trick's scruff and pulled his head above water. He had regained his footing so hopefully he wouldn't slip again but Coria knew how frightening it was to have your head go under water. She stood close to Trick and allowed him to lean on her if he needed to for support. "Looks like you took a little dip." Coria said light heartedly. She wanted this to still be fun but she also knew how scary the water could be so she thought it important to keep a light attitude.
