Blitz silver fur shines in the sun light, she been trotting around the tall grass for hours. She keeps her ice blue eyes peeled to her surroundings, she searches for scents when something catches her nose..

.::Nearby, a flock of snow geese are rooting around in the snow for anything edible. Further away, a pair of bighorn sheep are fighting, their imposing horns making a loud crack as their skulls smash together.::.

Gideon walks as quietly as he can through the plains, his nostrils flaring as he takes in the surroundings. He can smell the musk of the bighorn as two males ram horns for dominance. Raising his head up slightly above the level of the grass, he eyed them, weighing his options. He could attack, likely be injured by one or both... Better to wait.
He kept his muscled body low to the ground as he moved, and when he turned his attention from the sheep he noticed another scent- this one the smell of a predator, his own kind. Sniffing again he raised his head, green eyes narrowing on a silvery shape in the distance. He could scent that it was a wolfess. After a moment he stood to his full height, scars glinting in the light, and let out a short howl of greeting.
ooc; Sorry for the delay, I had to run to the store.

Blitz could smell the sheep and geese, she stayed low to the ground, although her tail was a give away as it curls up and lays on her back (like a husky's).
She inched closer to the sheep, but stopped dead in her tracks when she heard a small wolf howl greeting, she poked her head out of the grass and looked around, she spotted a large white wolf, by the howl and scent she knew he was male, thoughts began to race their her mind. What was this wolfs intentions? All her life she hasn't had that many good experiences with males, but she held her head high and howled back, being submissive she began to trot towards the white wolf, her attention slipped away from the prey as she walked closer to this male wolf.

.::At the howl, the flock of geese burst into the sky, making haste to get away from the nearby predator. The rams stop and look Gideon and move away a few paces before continuing their battle, keeping a wary eye on him as they fight.::.

The female was moving through the grass stealthily, but Gideon noticed that her tail curled up over her back, something he had never seen before in a wolf. At his howl she turned her attention to him and began to approach him with a submissive stature. His head and tail were kept high. At times Gid had a hard time forgetting that he was not an alpha, that his pack was long gone. Probably all dead.
He ignored these thoughts and wagged his thick white tail good-naturedly, approaching the other. Some geese he hadn't noticed before scattered, and he silently chided himself for not seeing them. Would have been easy prey, and now all that was left were the menacing looking sheep. Gideon continued though, knowing that meeting another wolf, a possible ally, was more important than the initial opportunity of one goose.
As he neared her he noticed her body language betrayed a tiny sense of uncertainty, and he lowered his head slightly, not wanting to seem threatening. He tried to convey a look of friendliness on his scarred face and spoke, "Greetings. I take it you are a rogue, like myself?" Gideon was not one for idle conversation. He cleared his throat awkwardly, scanning the landscape as he waited for her response.

Blitz seen the geese fly off and she watched them for a few seconds, then continued to make her way to Gideon, this new white male wolf, she got about a yard away from him before she stopped trotting, she assessed him with her eyes.
What a large but good looking male white wolf . She thought to herself, she hasn't stumbled across an all white male wolf before. At his voice she stared into his eyes with her ice blue eyes still looking alert, she knew she could bolt away if needed, always having a back up plan in her mind but she smiled at him." Greetings fellow rogue wolf, I am Blitz. " she spoke in a calm charming manor has she flicked her tail.

Gideon watched as the female looked him over, and for a moment he thought he caught something in her eye, a hint of admiration or attraction. No, he thought. She-wolves simply never saw him that way. He'd been told he was too serious, too quiet, always brooding- he was getting lost in his thoughts. His green eyes met her blue ones again before he took in her silvery coat and- by Fenris, even her nose and eartips were blue, like her eyes! He'd never seen anything like that on a wolf before, and frowned in confusion, taking a step back.. Her voice was silken as she spoke her greeting.
"Blitz. hello." he spoke, suddenly feeling slightly tongue-tied. Regaining his composure he turned toward the bighorn sheep, still sparring off in the distance. "Are you hungry?" He asked, silently kicking himself for not being more polite, more talkative. He suddenly realized he hadn't said his name, and turned his eyes back to her. "I am Gideon, it's lovely to meet you."

Blitz felt more at peace by this point. If he wanted to cause harm, he would have done so already . Blitz thought to herself, she released the tension in her body and walked closer to Gideon, " Yes Gideon, lovely to meet you and I am definitely hungry." she smiled at him as she stood next to him, she stared at the sheep from the corner of her eyes in the distance. She looked up at Gideon, as he is taller than her, she flicked her bouncy tail. " Shall we hunt?" she said with a grin.

He watched as she visibly relaxed and this helped him to relax as well, and for a moment a small smile formed on his face. It felt foreign to him, but he simply watched, aware of her proximity to him. They were heading tentatively toward the sheep and as she eyes them she asked if they should hunt, that unusually bouncy tail of hers flicking back and forth.
Gideon looked at the rams, his brow going back to its usual furrowed state, smile going back to a frown. Normally, if he was with a packmate, the smaller of the two would have distracted the sheep, baiting it, confusing it until its mind was clouded enough that Gideon could get close from behind and make that fatal pounce. But he couldn't ask Blitz to be bait! He had just met her and had no clue of her abilities or lack thereof. She could be an expert, or she could get herself rammed and trampled within the first minute. He wasn't sure how to proceed. He couldn't put her in danger, so for the moment he just eyed the sheep, wondering.
"We should try and separate them." he said, turning to her.

Blitz nodded, she agreed with him. She stared at the sheep and began to slowly and steadily sneak towards them, her body low to the ground so her tail was barely touching the top of the grass almost invisible, she hoped to get close to the middle of the two sheep to scare them off in opposite directions. The cold breeze felt good in her fur and the wind was in her favor. This just might work. she thought hopefully.

He watched as she sung below the grass and began to stalk toward the creatures, thanking Fenris silently that the wind was in their favor. He too lowered himself, following her. She seemed fearless and for some reason this bothered him; he imagined her getting rammed or hurt somehow and felt the urge to hiss at her to come back, move behind him. But this female was a stranger, not his subordinate and he had no right to command her.
He padded silently, letting his large paws fall as quietly as he possibly could, eyes narrowing in on the larger of the two. If they could spook him and cause him to bolt, the smaller, weaker sheep would be easier to catch.

Blitz stayed low and continued to sneak towards the Rams, she could feel Gideon behind her, she moved slightly to the left, eyeing the weaker sheep, she already assumed Gid would go for the larger one if possible. Focus Blitz, almost there she silently encouraged herself, the cold wind had ceased and time felt slow, everything was silent, she prowled closer the Rams only a few yards away.

.::Unfortunately, the rams had become keen to the wolves' presence from the howl and had been keeping a watchful eye, so subterfuge wasn't going to work. When Blitz got too close, the two took off at full speed. There was no element of surprise here—there would have to be a chase.::.
