The trek down from the mountains was hard in the harsh assault from the heavens. Soon a volley of hail began to beat upon his coat. The rain has dampened his fur along with his mood, and the mane-like ruff on his neck was flattened.

Blaise shivered slightly as she followed her mate. Her eyes were trained on the ground careful not to trip and fall. She hoped that Scorpius was looking for den more than she was. Just somewhere out of this horrible weather was all Blaise needed. Even a little den under a rock would be acceptable. Blaise glanced up for a quick scan of the surrounding area.

She realized they had traveled into a strange rock formation. The rocks had runes on them and were distinctly squares and rectangles. The best thing was that most formed shelters though there were a few that erosion had stripped the roofs off of. Blaise scampered ahead and into the closest rock shelter.

Scorpius followed Blaize into the shelter. Dirt had covered most of the opening, and grasses had formed a curtain in front of it. He crawled in behind her. The roof above them was slanted and cracked, moss hung down from the stone like a green sheet. He sniffed the small space curiously. His fur stood in end when he smelled a stale, yet familiar scent. His brother Kaiho had been here.

Blaise lay on her side in one corner. Her back was pressed against the cold, damp, stone wall of the shelter. Her forehead was also pressed against a wall and her cheek was against the dirt-covered floor. But her eyes were fixed on her mate.

Her breathing was deep and slow. Nothing moved but the up and down motion of her breathing. She noticed Scorpius's fur stand on end. She spoke slow and with effort, "Something the matter?"

"Nothing, just the lightning making me nervous." He lied expertly. He padded I er to his mate, head low as to not bump into the slanted ceiling. Her breathing was short, her face was hot. "The real question is, are you okay?"

[Rykett]

Blaise gasped as a sudden pain shuddered through her. "I.. I'm fine but you need to go." Her eyes held something wild in them as she spoke. "Now! Go!" Her voice was urgent and slightly panicked as the pain began to increase.

What was happening to her? She felt like she was being kicked multiple times in rapid succession. Meanwhile instinct was telling her to chase Scorpius out which she was doing. Blaise closed her eyes wondering if all the pain would result in something wonderful. Then she realized it would. She knew what was happening. Scorpius would be so excited when she told him. All she had to do was withstand this pain.

Scorpius' eyes widened and for some reason he dashed outside, actually obeying her. He paced nervously in front of the den, the rain began to sputter to a stop, the tiny chunks of ice melting in the grass.

Blaise's breathing quickened as the pain increased. Then it was gone. She blinked the black spots, that had intruded into her vision, away. Her breathing regulated as she felt little warm bodies beside her.

She turned her head to see two perfect puppies beside her. She licked their wet bodies. She lifted her head proudly and called to her mate, "Scorpius!" Her voice was layered with excitement, joy, and pride.

Scorpius rushed in. He felt to attached he had to let go and continue his mission. He stared at the puppies. Beautiful. He looked at the grey and black one. Looked just like him, such a shame. He walked up to Blaise with a hardened gaze. He didnt need to knock this one out, she was weak enough all ready. He stood there for a second. "I'll tell them a story." He growled. "Once upon a time there was a wolf named Savu. He met a pretty shewolf named Mysti. He saved her life, and in many ways, she saved his. Then one beautiful winters night, she broke his heart. And from that day on, he vowed to do the same to every she wolf he met. And he changed his name that day. He changed his name to Scorpius." He snarled at Blaize and whisked out of the den, not wanting to see her cry.

Blaise met Scorpius's eyes. She smiled wearily but as she noticed his hard expression it slowly disappear. What was wrong? Didn't he love their puppies? Scorpius began his story. A strange feeling of unease became to appear deep in her gut as his story continued. Then that final sentence came. Blaise blinked confused. Scorpius was the name of her mate not of a wolf named Savu... Scorpius snarled at her.

Blaise's ears pinned in fear. He was snarling at her? Then it all made sense. Blaise got clumsily to her feet and stumbled after Scorpius with the pups' protested ringing in her ears along with the last sentence of Scorpius's history. "Scorpius!" she wailed but he was gone. Tears stinging her eyes, she returned to her pups and curled around them. The tears flowed freely and created a puddle between her paws.

-One month later-

Ruko:

Ruko prowled behind his sister. The mighty hunter was about to spring on the prey. He was unseen, Ruko was sure of it. His growl was soft as his tail swished behind him disturbing a couple leaves. He stepped on a twig. The snap was soft so Ruko had confidence that the prey had not heard it. Suddenly he pounced, snarling a hunting growl as he crashed into Amora.

Amora:
Wow, her brother was dim. She heard a snap of a twig but paid no heed. Even one twitch of the ear could alert him. At the last second she whirled around and stuck her paws into the air. "Come on! You can do better than that!" She squeaked happily.

[Rykett]

Ruko:

Ruko laughed as the play fight began. Ruko tumbled a bit as he landed but bounced back onto his feet. He reared up onto his back legs and pawed at Amora. He jumped at her and growled playfully.

Blaise:

Blaise watched to two pups playing. It'd been a month since Scorpius (or was it Savu?) had left and every moment had pained Blaise. She couldn't stand the torment of knowing how she'd fallen for his trap, how at every turn he'd been lying to her, and how he'd never loved her but made her love him more than any wolf she'd every met.

Her expression was painfully sad but the pups never noticed. It was the expression she always had when she looked at them. A smile would appear every now and then but it always had a tone of despair behind it.

Amora giggled and battered his belly as he pinned her firewalls down. He barked happily and licked his grey muzzle.
