In the dead of the winter night, when all was still and all was quiet, one lone wolf could be seen making his way to the border of the Frigid Plague. His eyes were sandy orange, pelt a light brown. A dangerous glint stirred in his eyes, while his tail brushed over the heavily fallen snow. Despite his thick build, his pawsteps were light and prints shallow. He reached the border and sat, howling up one call to the Alphess and ONLY the Alphess Cascade I believe this shall be the thread!

Perjury shivered a little when a particularly biting gust of cold wind blew through her fur. The alphess did not prefer winter, as it was by far the most difficult season. Although her pack never lacked for food, she felt cooped up in the territory, where the thick canopy of trees protected the forest floor from the deepest snowfall. In the meadows, the snow would pile high into deep drifts that made traversing the landscape difficult. Perjury herself was especially displeased with her inability to control the snow; in any other season she was quite capable of clearing a path for herself through any obstacle. Burrowing through the ground was still an option, but not without leaving her packmates in the dust. Yes, it was a bothersome season, but there was always an end in sight.
Heading towards the unmistakable call from her border, Perjury spotted a brown male standing in the sparse light of the moon. She could barely make out his features in the low light, but the tone of his howl gave her the impression that he was of evil heart. "Hello," she said simply as she came to a stop in front of him, "I am Perjury, the alphess of the Frigid Plague. What brings you to my border?"

"I... Well, I am the one who wonders through the night. I am Kotler, and I seek a place iin the Frigid Plague, Alphess." Kotler's rough voice rumbled, as if the Earth itself were speaking. He dipped his head slightly, then brought it up to look Perjury in the eyes. His own orbs flashed that glint again and if all went well... soon, he'd have a high rank and immense control.
((I guess you can see where I'm going. Perjury will get a bad feelinbg, but accept him. Kotler will ask for a high rank and when she denies, he'll argue.; Then we can do the fun bits))

"I see." Perjury looked back into the darkness of the forest and gestured with her tail at the vast expanse that was her territory, "The Frigid Plague controls the majority of the redwood forest. Our territory is well-protected and our pack is powerful. For your loyalty, you will be part of the strongest pack in the valley. You must also pledge to respect and obey our alliance with the Honovi, of which you may be aware. If trouble comes to them, we will join them to defeat their enemy. If we are troubled by an enemy, they will do the same for us." She looked wistful for a moment, "Although it has been quite some time since either one of us have faced a threat that could not be handled alone. Not much can touch us here."

"I swear to uphold all conditions mentioned above at the cost pf my life, Alphess. But who are these Honovi? What are they and why are we allied to them?" His voice was dubious, his tone bordering on curious, but not Kotler's tail was respectfully lower4ed - for now and still he kept his eyes fixated on the shorter Alphess. Her build was small, but compact and strong and he could see the power mark on the inside of her thigh. Kotler was no stranger to powers, in fact, he had been considering going to Geist to receive one so he could wreck havock over the Valley.
He paused, and waited for Perjury's answer, gaze strong and mildly dominant.

(Since Perjury was born with her power, she actually doesn't have a mark I might have included one in earlier RPs with her, but that was an error.) "The Honovi are a pack of neutral wolves who have been our allies for generations," Perjury explained, making a mental note of his tone but not letting it show in her response, "Our territory originally belonged to the Honovi, but my grandfather took it from them when he formed the Frigid Plague. Although our pack forced them into the heathlands, where they now reside, family ties between my grandmother and the alphess of the Honovi allowed us to form an alliance with them that exists to this day." She smiled darkly, "The current alphess of the Honovi is my own dear cousin, so I can assure you that they are led by a wolf of sensible blood."

"And my Alphess thinks her bloodline is a mighty one... Well said - it is." Kotler kept his stance strong though he felt no worry about a confrontation with his Alphess if needed. After all, he had won every fight and killed 4 wolves already. What was there to worry about? Losing? Hah! As if the strong, handsome male would ever lose a fight. Especially this pitiful example of an Alphess. No matter, if he got the rank he wanted then all would be well.
Now on to the topic of ranks themselves. "And what of ranks, Alphess? I do hope that I will not merely be an Omega... those are so degrading." His previous family/pack ran on an Alpha/Beta/Omega hierarchy, with Kotler always as Beta. He had had his way with the Omegas in the family, siring many bastard pups but never acknowledging them. He was a true, chaotic evil but he wouldn't let Perjury see that side of him. Yet.

Perjury raised her eyebrow at the wolf, who was appearing more and more brash as the conversation went on. Internally, she wondered if he would be suited for a place in the pack after all. If he was only interested in a title, then he would be quickly disappointed.
"I am the alphess, as you know, and there is no standing alpha. The beta male is named Vanitas, and we also have a female Gamma named Tala. All others are subordinates, the rank which you will hold until there is significant cause for you to elevated to a higher position."

"Then give me the rank of Beta, I will prove myself a capable and valuable addition to the ranks of the Frigid Plague, if you would give me a chance." Kotler asked, dipping his head a little before coming back up to look at his Alphess again.
((Crap post, I'm sorry. How about Perjury denies, Kotler asks and aruges, Perjury gets pissed and boom))

Perjury didn't stifle the chuckle that rose from her throat when he so brashly requested the rank of beta. "I think not," she said with an amused look, "You have the order of things very backwards. Proving yourself comes first, being awarded a rank comes second. Being beta is not a participation trophy." In her mind, she couldn't help but note the irony. It had taken so much time and convincing for Vanitas to finally accept the position of beta, and now here was this young wolf coming out of the woods and demanding it right away. She would give him one more chance to erase this foolish behavior of his, but her serious consideration of him as a member of her pack was waning fast.

Ooh, here it comes. A good long post for this. ))
What?! That no-good, idiotic numbskull would deny him a place as Beta? How could it be? It was most likely the arrogance of females who needed to be put in their place. Killer reckoned. He would give Perjury one last chance to accept him as Beta before he would either turn around and leave, the pack not worth his time - or kill Perjury himself and take over Frigid Plague. He knew she had a power, but what use was it against him? If he tackled her and pinned her down, she wouldn't be able to use it. Kotler's eyes displaced his show of dominance, and his voice was a cold, cruel bite. "Give me the rank of Beta and I will prove my worth. You will find me a good leader, or at least grant me Gamma position and you will see your pack prosper."
Promises of sweet success rolled of his tongue as easily as lies of valor and honor did. His mouth formed the words with a sickly sweet smile, orange orbs blinking impassively even with his smile. It was safe to say - Kotler's disdain for Perjury was now openly visible. His claws quietly unsheathed themselves with no more than a near-silent 'shink' sound while he let his sharp, long teeth show. It was an eerie winter night of the smallest pups' terrors, and he was the center of it all. Kotler relished the feeling of being the one that pups would shiver in fear of. He smirked and waited yet again for the Alphess's move

The alphess's expression turned cold as the wolf showed his true colors, taking a few steps back into the cover of darkness. It was sadly not uncommon that wolves of her alliance would be mentally unhinged like this. It was unfortunate, but also not of any concern to her. He had hid it will enough initially, but this wolf's delusional nature could not be kept down for long, clearly. "Leave this place," she commanded from the shadows, "Or attack and pay for it with your life."

"Try me, and we'll see how little b***h Alphesses should be out in their place, as a carrier of pups and nothing more. Try me, Perjury and see what it's like." Came the only voice from the sandy wolf. He seemed to grow in the moonlight, fur highlighted in the waning moon.

His threat was met with silence. In fact, the alphess made no movement or sound whatsoever. For a few moments, it seemed as though she had simply disappeared. Then, without warning, a dark mass flew from beneath the trees and whizzed by Kotler's ear, coming so close as to clip some of the fur from his cheek. It embedded itself in the trunk of one of the redwoods behind him, and in the last light of the moon it could be seen that it was a large spike. Made of earth and hardened nearly to rocklike consistency, it had come very close to ending Kotler's life in a quick and gruesome fashion. A pair of yellow eyes appeared and peered through the darkness. "A warning." Perjury's voice said in a hushed but serious tone, "Leave, or your death will be far more degrading than a spike through the brain."(ooc: Permission to get creative in my next post? )
