Personally, I don't have much room to speak on this issue, as this is my first and only RP forum.
Personally, I like the solid time. It keeps a consistent plot going, and there's no sudden and drastic changes. I have, however, had issues before where solid time got in my way.
I think we as a site should meet on a middle ground. From what I've seen, this forum was built upon solid time, and to suddenly change that would prove unappealing to many.
First off, maybe change the definition of "dead thread" from two weeks with no reply to five-seven days with no reply, and if a situation or plot were to call for it, such as a pack war, as previously stated, it could move to three days or less depending on urgency.

I like solid time much better though having liquid time would be okay. It's just I like having a definite timeline: this happened, then this happened etc. with liquid time things get mixed up and character development can't really happen properly, in every thread different events happen that change your wolf's outlook, but if you're in several threads at one time it's hard to keep track of and its like playing multiple wolves anyway with how the personality overlaps and splays. I like having rolepjay be much more realistic, like real life. We can all relate to real life as we are not fictional. And solid time is way easier for many to grasp.
If it would help I think that either lengthening seasons, or shortening wait times on dead threads could benefit your case.

Probably both, if nothing else. When I was first welcomed to the site, I was told it was slower-paced. That means that threads aren't meant to be finished in half a day flat, on average. But I do agree, the short seasons do contradict the slow-paced cover, but the long waiting time turns away the more fast-paced members. I say longer seasons, shorter waiting times, and a few more mods (to keep the important wolves active.)

I think we have enough mods, we just need more active members in general. Of course people have lives and responsibilities, RP isn't meant to be the first priority in life, though if I got paid to me a staffie, I would totally do this for the rest if my life.

Ok....so I've been RPing for over 10 years now (almost half my life) and I've seen a lot of what works and a lot of what doesn't work.
Honestly, I think the view of this site being "slower paced" is not a good thing. I think it brings activity to a stand still and has the potential to kill the site. Activity is a GOOD thing. It encourages new members to join and encourages existing members to return.
Things are fun when they are active. Take the recent Honovi thread for an example. When the drama started flowing, people started posting like crazy and it was super fun for everyone (except maybe Dem, who was the center of a lot of glaring lol). We're all here because we enjoy writing. And, while I understand people are busy, I don't think it is a good idea to encourage the "slower paced" image because then hardly anyone posts, no one is having fun and we start losing members left and right.
I say, encourage more activity with more interesting pack wide (or several pack wide) plots, create ranks within packs that allow them to function without having to rely on a single wolf (VERY important. Alphas will inevitably go inactive all the time. When this happens, rather than passing the character to a more active player, we should allow things to play out IC as if the Alpha had gone missing. This allows for the rise of new characters/plots/activity/fun/interesting story lines), create ranks that give pack members a PURPOSE/JOB so it's not just like "Oh, I got accepted into a pack. Yay. Now I can wonder around aimlessly". Pack meeting and pack hunts are really important too because they allow pack members to interact and relationships to form IN CHARACTER. I don't know about you guys....but I like to see where the writing takes me. Plotting out of character can get so tedious.
I think the answer to all of this is to work on creating a higher level of activity....like WWM used to be years and years and years ago.

I remember, back in the day, the Mods got together and decided to start a site wide fire in WWM. Everyone had to run for the mountain. It created so much activity. Drama between packs also creates a lot of activity. I was the RPer behind the formation of the Honovi pack, the war/take over of the Fire Bringers, and my two wolves, Kiowa and Acka, were even behind the alliance that still exists between Frigid Plague and the Honovi. All of this created tons of drama (a.k.a. activity), lots of interesting writing and some good history. We need more of that and less of this everyday "normal". Normal is boring and uneventful....and makes for very slow writing. Moral of the story: we should find a way to shake things up. But that's just my two cents worth Feel free to disagree

Well, I was thinking in terms of shaking things up, we could do something with the Big Three (Honovi, Frigid Plague, and Eternal Snowfall). They've just been sitting there in the same stalemate for a long time. Since Piala's original owner is no longer with us, maybe she could end up assassinated/otherwise killed, leaving a power vacuum in Eternal Snowfall, which could lead to an attempt by the Honovi/FP alliance to overwhelm the rest of the pack. Or maybe one of the smaller packs would end up challenging one of the bigger packs for their territory. Idk. I want fight-y things to happen, tbh.

Oh no, my baby! XD that does sound interesting, though. My plot's gonna make a little tension between Midnight Silence and Honovi, but nothing major like that. I actually want something dramatic to happen. Torturing my characters is what I live for.
Any ideas you guys have, shoot. I might be able to build off of it.

Site-wide plots sound SO COOL but what about people who aren't IN the involved packs? We're stuck just watching and not getting to have any fun D: Not that it isn't a cool idea and I'm not trying to say "Waaah I can't have fun so no one can" I promise, just a little two cents from someone not in any big packs ;u; a pack-wide plot wouldn't really benefit us folks not in them ;o;

I agree. A pack to pack conflict would be AWESOME! I don't know much about Eternal Snowfall and I don't have a lot of stake in their pack, so I'm going to see what other members say about that first. But a good vs. evil clash would be great!!! The Honovi, having an alliance with FP could be all conflicted because maybe they don't see the war as just. And maybe that could spiral into some conflict with them as well. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing the FP/Honovi alliance tested. Maybe the battle could be about revenge. Maybe it could be about territory. Maybe the evil FP wolves are just bored and power hungry (it's time they started living up to their evil reputation again and start causing some mayhem). Usually the evil packs are the most active because there is the most conflict, which leads to more to write about, which leads to higher interest and therefore, more activity. But the FP seems so.....utterly dead.

Maybe there is a way we can rope them in on it? Perhaps packs can go looking for warriors for hire or something. Not official members. But wolves willing to band together with the pack they share an alliance with? EDIT: And the big 3 can go looking to the smaller packs for alliances as well! That could be interesting! It could be a site wide war!!!

I agree with Limited Liquid Time. Like, 2 threads at a time. When I wanted my wolves to get powers on White Wolf Mountain, nobody replied, and so 2/3 of my charactors were stuck in limbo, my third one was busy, but eventually, her plot ran stale and thats why I left. As a matter of a fact, my old wolves are still stuck on the mountains, but what we are trying to get at is, basically, its a lot more fun and easy to have liquid time, even if it is limited.

There was NOTHING going on, no drama, even the packs were in limbo. The White Wolves were in limbo too. The most interesting thing that happened to me before Cas came back was my first wolf getting a mate. So, to add on to Kiowa's point, no, it will not kill the sight. It almost HAS.

Personally I love liquid time. I have been on a few sites, one being liquid time and the others all solid time. Although I'm quite new here, I love this site already and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon, but in the previous sites where they had solid time, I never really stuck. I feel like solid time can be quite limiting, which has been said already here, but I understand it has it's advantages aswell. I don't know if I'm a little biased seeing as the only site I've stuck to over the years was liquid time but I much prefer it. Plots go faster and I feel there's a bit more character developement. I often find having more than one character quite overwhelming, and even then I never have more than around 3 threads. I'd love to actually RP here but I'm reluctant to introduce another charrie just to have a better chance to actually thread with someone. Tbh, either way I like these forums a lot.

I strongly prefer no liquid time and generally believe that the exception for alphas + 2 week inactivity rule is a good compromise for those who prefer liquid time. There's also a matter of tradition: WWM has existed since 2003 and has always disallowed liquid time. While I don't think that tradition alone is a good reason for keeping absolutely everything the same, I have already made a lot of big changes from the WWM I grew up with. Keep in mind that I am not the original creator, the site was essentially passed down to me. So keeping it recognizable to the original creators' vision is also a factor for me.
I can think about reducing the time needed for a thread to be considered inactive, but I also don't see a lot of people taking advantage of the allowance in the first place, even when it's available to them. Maybe more attention needs to be drawn to it in the rules?
As for a pack-wide plot I think it's a great idea! Neither FP or Honovi seek out conflict to the extent that they would try to usurp Eternal Snowfall, but I see huge potential for retaliation if someone were to bring a fight to them. Not everyone would be directly affected by such a plot, but it wouldn't be the only thing we ever do, and I think it's better to have a couple really good plots that hit a few demographics each than it is to have one really huge plot that tries to include everyone.
