Above the scattered trees the mountain range loomed to his left. The sun was high in the sky and the heat was unforgiving, even in the speckled shade from the trees. Epicenter's tongue lolled to the side as he trotted through the foliage. He looked like part of the earth moving, his greens and browns matched the ferns that brushed his feet and the bark on the trees that slowly fell behind him as he kept his steady pace forward. There was no map in his mind or pattern in his path, only the mountains that he followed. Was it not the mountains where it was said that certain wolves dwelled to grant great power? While he had a goal in mine, where ever he ended up, he was happy, as long as it was far away from his past and into the future.
His narrow ears tilted forward as the sounds of birds and rustling leaves were joined with the trickle of water. The prospect of a nice cool drink propelled him at a quicker pace, a bounce with his cheerful step. Without stopping to admire the falls, he kept walking until the water surrounded his feet, then legs- rushing around his chest. He took a couple of laps of water, immediately feeling better, the moisture cooling his parched throat. He dipped his whole head under the water so he was totally submerged, the world going silent for a moment. 'Like the quiet before the storm.' His mother used to say about her brown and green marbled son. Epicenter wasn't sure if she meant it as a compliment, but he accepted it as it was.
After holding his breath for a couple of moments and enjoying the silence he turned himself toward shore, and pushed himself out of the water. He waded to the shallows where he could lay in the sand, where the water would lap at the shore and at his legs as he laid down. Pressed against a rock and half hidden by shade, Center would have easily be mistaken for a mossy drift wood, and was by a couple of birds who unknowingly perched themselves on the rock above him. He was content to just lie there, drifting in and out of consciousness with the sounds of nature. Every now and then he would flick his ears in this and that direction to catch different sounds- and being aware of his surroundings.

It was the height of summer, the blazing sun too bright to even glance at. It's white-gold rays burned through the air and thrust its way into the very air Amora breathed. The forest was behind her, it's glorious green and gold dappled shade only a memory. The black she wolf felt the sun beating down on her strong shoulders, her sunset hued swirls and spots were hot to the touch. Her dark purple eyes were narrowed into squinting slits. The young shewolf padded across the meadow, pink tongue lolling out past her white fangs. Her mind was blurred by the heat and she coulda think clearly. All she could think about was finding shade or water. If she was correct the Amoux Creek should be flowing through the prairie.
Just as Amora had predicted, the burbling sound of a small waterfall reached her black ears. Perking up at the sound, Amora picked up her pace, orange-yellow-and-pink socked paws padding quickly through the dry grass. Soon she felt the mist settling on her fur, prickling her nose with crystalline water droplets. Licking her patched lips, Amora arrived at waters edge. She lowered her muzzle into the cool, clear depths, lapping up the refreshing water. Once her thirst was quenched, Amora looked up, sleek body stretched out on the grassy shore.
She scanned her surroundings with her deep amethyst eyes, better to be safe than sorry, she couldn't trust many wolves, for her own brother had cost her her front leg. Glancing down at her stub she licked its almost completely healed end. With a wince she decided she should submerge it in the wildwater flowing from the falls. She waded into the water, slipping her rough paw pads into the silky silt of the river bottom. Sitting down in the water, only her head was visible.

Billy: Billy yawned, and shook his grassy coat free of the dust it loved to get. Almost that same second as he yawned he yelped, the dent-like wound in his head throbbed like never before and the gashes and wounds from his fall in the Ruins stung. He started limping forward and whined with every step. He perked up at the sound of water and limped faster. He found the creek and headed right into the waters. Rolling over, he washed off and looked up, to see two other wolves. A black head in the water, and a white male.
Billy jumped and dashed out, but regretted it quickly as he tripped on the shore and took a goggle dive and yelped as he dived head first into the sand with his tail in the air. He yelped as he fell in the most goofy position possible and rolled over onto his back.

He felt like he could melt into the sand, from both the heat and how comfortable he was. Epicenter had fallen asleep and was jerked to awareness at the change in sound that the water was making. Perhaps it was him somehow? He was not known for sleepwalking, but the thought startling and his reality was skewed until his eyes were open and realized he was still in the same place. The water lapping at his legs, a couple of birds singing, and the dull roar of the waterfall. For a moment he felt like he could lie there all day, until he realized he was not alone. He was still sleepy from his nap and the sun draining heat, and it seemed like she hadn't noticed him yet- so he watched her in a daze, unmotivated to move...He was about to rest his head once more, when there was yet another splash. Tiredness drained out of him and he sat up. His peaceful paradise had become the public swimming pond. A little miffed, but interested in what wolves wandered in the area, Epicenter looked over at the second splash. A green and brown modge-podged wolf was limping out and watched him fall over. The other wolf had been sitting contently in the water.
Epicenter lowered his head and ears, showing a non-threatening gesture. Knowledge was power, as far as he knew. Others could always be used for something... To follow him, to tell him things, he would (if the situation allowed) take advantage of any possibility. In a way, Center was quite the social butterfly, but always enjoyed silence when time permitted alone time.
The she-wolf was closer to him, he wasn't sure if the other wolf was in hearing range, and he didn't want to yell. The other wolf had been startled by the presence of wolves, and didn't want to scare him further. He also didn't want to frighten the she-wolf, unsure of how she would react- but he directed his words to her, but also kept an open and friendly posture for the other wolf. "Are you from around here?" He asked politely, his tongue still lolling from the heat.

Amora was enjoying to cool currents combing through her fur. The water seemed to make it longer as it soaked, the individual strand brushing along with the current. The stub of her leg was soothed by the coldness of the water. Unfortunately her serene moment of content blankness was interrupted by the whines and whimpers of another wolf approaching the falls a little farther down. The mottled green and brown wolf immersed himself in the river, sending dust streaming down the creek. Once he deemed himself clean, he leaped from the water. His first pawstep was a wrong one. His wet paw stepped quickly into the mud resting his entire weight on it, he thrusted forward to scramble out of the creek. His paw slipped and his face went down, splatting into the mud. Amora couldn't help but snicker as she watched the spectacle from afar. Yet her enjoyment was short lived as another male spoke to her. He clambered out of his laying position, seemingly peeling up off of the ground as if he was part of the land itself. He too was green and brown, how odd, it seemed that the dominant genes nowadays were those of a more camouflage-able hue. Amora blinked her deep purple eyes at the soft spoken male. "Born and raised." She answered him with a wary eye.

Billy: Billy got to his paws, and stumbled around before he got his footing again. He shook the sand away, and looked at the other two. He edged closer, nervous because he was in no position to defend himself. Billy looked at the male, and the black wolf. Billy cocked his head, and said "Hello?" softly.
He edged forward again, gaining confidence with each step. "Um, I'm Billy. Who are you?" he asked, trying to make conversation. He wagged his tail, in a friendly way. He smiled cautiously and took another step, and looked at the black female to see that she had purple eyes. That surprised him a bit, but not for long.

Epicenter nodded, acknowledging her answer. Her pink freckles framed her dark eyes that shimmered like an amethyst. The sun also reflected the same bright pink in the water. She was exotic and interesting, also maybe a little bored. 'hello' interrupted his observations and he turned his gaze to the male who seemed to be in some sort of pain, stumbling about- and fearful for his life as he came toward them. "Hello." He responded.
He the male picked up his pace, and more confident, the modge podged wolf introduced himself.
"I'm Epicenter... You okay?"
He stood up, moving a few steps into the water to cool off. After he had sat up, the sun had been directly beaming down on him, heating him up. He only went so far to his knees.

Amora didn't quite know how to respond in this situation. It wasn't breeding season so these males couldn't after her. Perhaps they weren't after anything. Perhaps they were normal, decent males. It seemed like the only decent make she knew was Foxtrot alpha of Secluded Sunrise. He wasn't around a lot though, and so Amora seemed to be surrounded by anger intoxicated liars and murderers. But perhaps Epicenter and....Billy....were different. Epicenter seemed to be the calmer of the two, thoughtful. Billy seemed spontaneous and rather clumsy. "Careful there, don't drown yourself in mud." Amora chuckled and stood, revealing her pink, yellow, and orange swirling patterns as she padded slowly towards them.

Billy: Billy met Amora's purple gaze with his own electric blue one. The eyes that jumped out from a camouflage background a leather brown of his goggle-like markings. He was a handsome, tall wolf. He then shifted his gaze to Epicenter, and smiled. the smile hurt though. He was not going to let it show as he wanted to impress. He took a step forward, but winced as the step landed. when would his ribs just heal already, it had been almost 5 days since he had fallen in the ruins. Billy looked at Amora again, taking in the patterns. she was really quite pretty. He blushed and started trying to flatten a tuft of fur and wished he wasn't camo. It was so easy to melt into the grass, and he didn't really want to melt into grass. He pushed his ears back, and looked down at his paws. Okay, he'd admit it. He liked Amora.

Epicenter watched the peculiar male. He had not answered him... Perhaps he was embarrassed? Then he realized the male was not paying attention to him anymore, he was looking at the female who was coming to the more shallow part of the pool. He could see what had captivated him, the patterns were intriguing, almost entrancing, he wondered if it was some sort of trick. Center looked back at the male for a moment. He looked seriously injured, which was dangerous when you were on your own. He wasn't sure how to direct the conversation with three wolves, might as well gather information, especially since the female was familiar with the area.
"May I ask your name?" His eyes turned to the female once more, realizing it would be polite to ask her name before he asked about the area more.

Amora pulled herself into the grass to be closer to the two wolves. She was completely certain that Billy wasn't a threat, she could take him down on a matter of seconds; for he was wounded and she was not. Not to mention she held the power of botany, and let's just say she was a prodigy with it. Epicenter, he seemed alright. She wasn't sure what secrets he held. Amora didn't see anything blatantly wrong about him, nor unsettling. He just came off like he was very clever, and perhaps had an ulterior motive. Whatever that motive was, it couldn't be harmful. Even if it was, Amora was perfectly capable of defending herself. The three legged shewolf stood tall, refusing to sit like she was disabled. "I'm Amora." She spoke, her name wasn't much, no one really knew her anyways. Though perhaps they knew her as the daughter of Alphess Blaise. It was difficult in her position. Other packs always had an eye or two on each other, and the offspring of an Aloha was always in danger. Though it wasn't like Secluded Sunrise had many if any enemies.

Epicenter glanced at the now silent wolf; he did not want to seem presumptuous in leaving the male out of the conversation. He left a moment of silence then looked back to Amora, and nodded in acknowledgement.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Amora.” He said with a smile. Now that she had pulled herself out of the water and noticed her… different gait, he glanced at her missing leg, but his gaze didn’t linger out of respect.
“So, born and raised, huh? I’m interested in learning as much as I can about these lands, being relatively new this close to the mountains. Are you part of a pack or follow the four winds where they go?” He moved a little, and then sat, admiring her strong pose and confidence. He wondered at it, almost as if she had a secret that he didn’t know about.

Ha, information. Epicenter desired to know the land, any wise wolf would. Amora smirked slightly as he finished his query. Was she if a pack? Yes, that was certain. Did she wander? Yes, as she was here. The dark pelted shewolf thought for a moment on how to phrase her answer. "I belong to a pack, although I spend the majority of my time elsewhere. Perhaps that may change in the moons to come." She shrugged, not caring about the Information she was sloughing off. Amora sincerely considered returning and settling down, maybe retrieving a high rank. Perhaps one day she may become Alphess Amora. The shewolf had thought many times of finding a mate, but no male she had encountered possessed the qualities she desired. He needed to be capable, strong willed, ambitious, tactful. Someone equal to her in mind and strength. Someone who didn't desire her for her feminine benefits, though not someone so easily love struck. Amora had no patience for a sappy wolf.

He watched the pretty decorated wolf as she considered his question. As she answered he tilted his head in slight surprise. She had a home, but she neglected it. Well, neglect was a strong word. It made him wonder though. He let silence fall a little, the heat numbing some of his complex thoughts. The heat slowly seeped through his coat and warmed the tops of his body, his legs still cooled by the body of water.
His attention still on the femme, his due eyes looked at her now as he moved a little deeper into the water. “I’m curious, what part may change in moons to come?” Though he was sure she was talking about her wandering tendencies, perhaps she was unhappy with her pack? He never ruled out anything in ambiguous statements. He offered a sincere smile before he ducked quickly under the cool water, engulfed in temporary silence and the aftermath of his minor splash. Epicenter lifted his body out of the water and moved back to his previous spot, his mind more alert and awake as the water dripped from his short summer coat. The designs on his body were more apparent during the summer; in the winter the edges were more blurred and appeared a lot more like organized camouflage, not too much unlike that of the other male.
“Excuse me.” He said with a sheepish smile before he bowed his head and shook his body so his fur did not cling so much to his body. Then he sat in the shallow water and turned his gaze Amora once more.

Amora watched the brown and green wolf closely, as he seemed to be analyzing her response. Epicenter moved a little deeper into the waters before posing his reply. Such antics were understandable as the heat from the sun permeated the air and soaked into every being below the heavens. She herself began to suffer from the temperature as the water dropped from her semi-thick coat. What would change? Lots of things. At least that's what she had been subconsciously planned out. She planned in retuning permanently to her mothers pack and strengthening it. The pack needed strong wolves, wolves with backbone! And she would give that backbone. Amora hoped that she would be joined by an equally strong wolf. A wolf of large stature, both physically and mentally. "I plan to return home and lend the pack my strength. My mothers pack needs someone willing to sacrifice. They need someone who will push themselves to the limit to succeed." She spoke passionately, eyes blazing. Then with a slight sneer she added, "Because right now, they are soft and lazy." She didn't mind smack talking Secluded Sunrise, for she did not belong as of yet. But as soon as she put her heart and soul into strengthening and fortifying her pack, she would fight for it. Shed blood and tears. "What about you....a wanderer I assume? What are you searching for?" The female asked, sending Billy a sideways glance. The camouflaged wolf seemed a little awkward, didn't he know that he could interject as well? Dismissing the quiet male, Amora joined Center deeper in the water. She laughed a bit as he dunked himself and then apologized. He was an odd fellow, funny, clever certainly. She flipped some water on him with her muzzle. "You missed a spot."
