Kanga;
"Oh!" Kanga said, his eyes widening as Rontu was finally able to bite him somewhere he felt it. The tip of his tail, although it still had long fur, was slightly more accesible. He wasn't used to wolves going for that angle because, well, when adults were trying to get his attention or reprimand him, the tail-tip wasn't usually the most popular option. He didn't even try to fight it, because at least the pup was entertained; however, he had a suspicion that if he didn't fight it, the pup would soon grow tired of it. The poor pup was probably bored already with all the adult talk. With this in mind, Kanga leapt into the air (again showing the shocking control he had over his big form), above and backward, coming to land heavily behind the pup. His rump went into the air and his big tail waved, and he growled at Rontu fiercely (in play), hoping the pup would return it and get feisty. It would be too adorable.
Kanga's eyes flashed and a big smile higlighted his face as he bayed at the puppy. Before the pup could do anything though, Kanga sprang back farther, then again and again, away until he bumped into a tree behind him. Without missing a beat, he lifted both back legs up the trunk of the tree, then pushed off and jumped back to where he had just come from. His breathing was ragged, but not because he was out of breath—because he was playing. His tail thrashed behind him.
"Does he have any siblings?" Kanga asked Tear as he resumed hopped past on the path behind her, careful not to step on the pup. The rumble in his voice highlighted his accent on the 'sib' in 'siblings,' turning it to sound more like 'sublings'. His accent only came out every once in a while, but when it did it was hard to miss. It was the kind of accent that when you heard it, you weren't sure whether you liked it or thought it sounded silly. Kanga turned to Rontu before Tear answered, leaping back and away again. "Do you have any siblings?" He repeated. His heart was beating rapidly—playing with pups was a good workout for the heart and lungs!
"I have a brother," Kanga said, then rested his head on his outstretched forelegs for a moment, rump still in the air. "Older." He said it like a curse word, and he had a feeling Rontu would understand. Even if the pup wasn't the youngest in his litter, he would probably appreciate the mutual frusteration with siblings. He grinned at Tear out of the corner of his eyes before dancing away on his claws before the pup could get to him.

Rontu:
Kanga startled as the sharp little teeth finally dug their way through all the thick fur and made contact with the skin beneath. Rontu eased up slightly, he didn't want to hurt Kanga, but boy was he mad about getting teased! He hated the baby talk! Mom knew that! So he continued mouthing on the big, fluffy tip to console himself. Or...that's what he started doing. Kanga jumped clean into the air, knocking Rontu head over heels in a somersault as the tail was yanked out from under him and the dangerous little teeth lost their hold on their prize.
Kanga landed behind him with a thud and threw himself down on his fore paws, rump waving in the air as he fiercely but playfully growled at Rontu for taking such liberties with his tail. Rontu's first reaction was to let his tongue loll out and let his face practically split apart in a big, happy grin that finally they were back to playing. His second (and more appropriate for the situation of a play fight) quickly followed. His turquoise eyes narrowed and his ruff rose making his already spiky fur go wild. His lips pulled back from his teeth and he snarled "savagely" back at Kanga, tail still thrashing the air and happy grin impossible to miss. He bounded forward to attack but before anything was really done, Kanga jumped back again, again and again and then he hit a tree. Rontu dashed forward to take advantage of the standstill, but Kanga threw himself back in front of the pup and skipped over almost to hide behind Mom. Rontu threw his head back and hoarsely yipped an attack call of his own before barreling towards Kanga, just missing as the giant skipped away. He growled again and took up the chase.
Tear:
Rontu sulked for another half-a-minute before Kanga jumped and neatly flicked him off the giant tail. Rontu bowled over with a startled cry, but quickly found his feet under him and wagged his tail at getting the proper attention. Tear chuckled, she loved puppies. They had so much energy, so much zest and eagerness and curiosity about the world around them, yet they were impossible to keep up with! Once the invitation to keep playing had been extended Rontu's energy came back and he jumped at the chance, growling and bristling with energy and excitement at such an opportunity to play. If he could have spent his life tagging, chasing and teasing, she had no doubt that the light gray he-pup would have done just that, and she wouldn't have him any other way.
Kanga escaped his pursuer by taking to the trail behind her and paused to catch his breath and ask about Rontu's siblings. When Rontu dashed for them Tear hurried out of the way. "Keep me out of this," she warned playfully, skillfully dodging the aftermath of an intent hunter after his prey as Rontu scattered leaves left and right and Kanga jumped away again and turned the question to Rontu. The young-one was more interested in playing anyway, so Tear answered the question since it had initially been addressed to her. "Six," was the proud, understanding answer. "Three from last year, he's the oldest of his litter: Two older brothers, one older sister, two younger girls and one more boy on the end." Kanga mentioned something about his own brother, his older brother. Tear nodded understandingly, she saw the sibling rivalries every day, she knew what that tone of voice about a sibling meant. Frustration. "Is your brother in the pack?" she was curious and felt like she ought to offer something to the conversation for all the work Kanga was doing for her taking the edge off of Rontu's energy.

Kanga;
The hoarse little attack yip made Kanga throw his big head back and laugh heartily. Why, he was having more fun with this pup than he often did with full grown wolves. He hesitated. Was that a bad sign? Perhaps—but did he care? Not particularily. His tail thrashed, his fur more red than brown lately as he was in constant motion with the pup. He liked this little wolf quite a lot. He wanted Manaaki to meet him—even if he was the elder twin. Kanga eased down onto the ground and took in Rontu's snarl. It was very good. A wolf that had no voice would need to make use of all the body language he could in the future, especially body language that highlighted the teeth. Kanga found himself almost concerned, for a moment or two, about the pup's future. But that was crazy. His mother was right there, and she was quite the mother at that. She was graceful and gracious, yet wise and fully capable. Rontu would be fine; besides, since when did Kanga worry about anyone other than him and Manaaki?
Kanga let the little pup barrell into him as he was crouching, and keeled onto his side at the impact, exposing his soft belly fur. It probably wasn't the most appropriate nor flattering position to take around the beta of the pack, especially when his rump was facing her, but the puppy was happy. Kanga flicked his tail upward and brought it up between his legs for good measure, chuckling.
"Seven pups in two years?" Kanga said, flipping again even if the pup was on his stomach, and looking at Tear the right-way up. He didn't bother to hide his surprise. "Sorry," He said, checking himself as he remembered who she was. "It's just—in the lands I was born in, there are hardly ever multiple pup litters, at least that survive. My twin and I were—exceedingly rare." He had been about to say 'a blessing' but he caught himself. Only one of them was. He shook his mane out. To cover up his awkward pause in conversation, he turned to the pup. "So you're the older sibling." He said it like an accusation, then smiled. He turned back to Tear.
"Well congratulations," He said, batting at the pup absently. "You look great and surprisingly well-rested." There was that smile again. "Yes, my twin brother is in the pack as well. Manaaki and Kanga, that's us. You may have seen him around. Quite as big as I am, but grey and considerably less fun."

Rontu:
He was gonna get him this time! He was gonna get him! Success! Rontu rumbled a hoarse growl of delight as his paws made contact with the red shoulder and Kanga fell over, not just onto his side but all the way onto his back, belly-fur sky-ward in surrender. Of course Rontu was going to ignore that, he didn't want a surrender, he wanted to keep playing! Kanga squirmed slightly, chuckling at the attack and Rontu grinned and panted back at him. Kanga really knew how to play, Rontu decided right then and there that he liked the giant he-wolf. Kanga fairly gasped at the idea of seven pups and said that where he was from even two pups were very rare. Rontu paused in growling and playing and gave the adult male an apologetic look. That couldn't have been very fun, having to play by yourself all the time. As much as he and his siblings sometimes disagreed, at least usually had someone to play with, and if not, he usually didn't play alone for long before he was eventually joined by someone in his family.
Kanga turned back to his little playmate and playfully accused him of being the oldest sibling. Rontu grinned and let his tongue loll out playfully. If you wanted to be technical, Helios was the eldest, and out of his litter Rontu certainly didn't act like the eldest. If any of them was starting to mature and act more grown-up it was probably Mey, she'd always been quiet and pretty and reserved like that, but Rontu nodded and shrugged and growled at Kanga again. Kanga responded with a friendly bat to Rontu's head and the pup tumbled off of his friend, got his paws under him, waggled his rump and sprang for his new playground again.
Tear:
Rontu bowled Kanga over and the russet male looked up at her with bulging eyes. "Seven pups in two years?" Tear grinned somewhat sheepishly. She hadn't thought about it much, but that probably did look like a pretty big family to most, didn't even "look like" it was a big family. Growing up it had only been her and her brother Whisper in the den and most of the families she knew or knew of only had one litter, if they had two then both were typically small, but three and four were some pretty decent sizes and resulted in a grand total of seven, so she nodded. "Yep, seven little scraps of pure energy." she smiled as Rontu wagged his tail (when was his tail not wagging?) and nipped at Kanga's nose while his friend was distracted. Rontu was probably the most energetic and the biggest trouble-finder of the group, but all the pups had their share of scrapes. Kanga apologized for what could have been interpreted as a rather rude reaction and said that his own pack seldom had more than one or two pups per litter, and if it was more than that then not all survived. Tear frowned sympathetically and shook her head, somehow the way he was saying her made her think that Kanga hadn't come from the best circumstances.
He moved on quickly, playfully accused Rontu of being oldest and Tear grinned as she recalled that he'd indicated he was a younger sibling himself. Then congratulated her on managing to keep in once piece with seven pups to look after. Thank Ramone for that! He endured half the wear-and-tear if not more that the pups gave them in play, in drama, in scrapes and adventures, once you learned to enjoy the experience of watching the young lives grow up though it felt less to her like work (although it still had its trying moments) and more like part of some great adventure that she wouldn't miss for the world. Kanga answered her question affirmatively and said that his brother - Manaaki - was indeed in Secluded Sunrise. About the same size as Kanga, but more grey and "considerably less fun". Ah, so Kanga was the rogue and rule-breaker as well as being younger, Manaaki was the one who kept him in line, another reason for rivalry. "Do tell, do tell." she smirked through a mock-serious voice as she nodded understandingly about stick-in-the-mud companions. She'd been the stick-in-the-mud now and then, but Ramone (thank Ramone again) had smoothed her out around the edges, reminded her that it was okay to smile and had taught her to laugh. She got the gist of it. "I'll let him know you said that," she teased, then shook his head before Kanga could ask; unless she met this Manaaki and he specifically asked, she'd keep that tidbit to herself, what happened with family stayed with the family.

Kanga;
"Oh, I'd say it to his face if he was here," Kanga said, and let out a bark of laughter that rumbled the chest the puppy was sitting on. He shook his head good-naturedly. "In all reality he is my very closest friend, and the most important thing in my life." He checked himself. "But don't tell him I said that." Of course Manaaki knew, because he held the same view about Kanga—but the boys never said that out loud; at least, not to other wolves. The brothers were surprisingly open with each other, and both knew how the other viewed them; however, for the sake of the laugh, Kanga played it up with Tear. He trusted that she wouldn't believe he actually wanted to hide things from his brother. When she told him to tell it all, he wasn't sure what she meant. About his past? Or about his brother? Why not loop it all into one and save himself the time.
"Well, we left our pack when we were very young—it didn't agree with us." Me. "We travelled for most of our adolescent years, and a good portion of our adulthood as well. Now we're here; in fact, we entered the territory completely by accident. We had been wrestling." When he said 'wrestling' he ruffled Rontu against his legs and shook him around on his chest. "And as you can see, we aren't small wolves. We often travel farther than we think when we play—" He grimaced. "We break trees, flatten bushes, kill small prey... in general cause a ruckes." He laughed again, deep and easy. "Anyway, we completely missed the pack markers and Blaise wasn't too pleased about that. I was sassy, of course, but Manaaki talked our way out of it and well.. here we are! What about yourself?" He actually hadn't spoken to Blaise since that first day, when he hadn't been as civil as perhaps became a wolf asking to join a pack. He thought on it. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to meet up with her (by chance, if at all possible), just to see how the water was settling. It wasn't that he had been expressly rude, neccessarily... he may have just pointed out that even if she wanted to she couldn't have stopped both of them at the same time on her own. It hadn't been like he had threatened her... just pointed out a fact! It was her fault if she couldn't take the truth.
Kanga cleared his throat awkwardly. "Not that I have anything against Blaise," He added quickly, quite aware of who he was talking to. "I often take a little while to warm up to people. Except this runt," He said affectionetly, and lifted a lip at Rontu in a playful snarl.

Rontu:
Between batting away the oversized paws when they got too close or might have removed him and swatting at the poking, accusing nose Rontu was kept very busy. Was it possible that the young wolf was starting to feel tired? Nope, not in the slightest, although he'd never been able to employ his boundless energy for so long at one time, it was a new experience not be recharging whenever Ferox complained that they were getting too rough or too fast or stopping when Val screamed at something in surprise, delight or horror. He liked it, it was fun to play with Kanga, and he was good at it and knew how to let him win just enough to keep him interested.
He started telling about how he'd come to the pack and they both sort of toned down their rough-housing: Kanga so he could properly tell and Rontu so he could listen. Wrestling? Kanga gave him a good scratch and twist around his narrow, puppy-chest and Rontu fairly beamed: a wolf after his own heart! There was always time for wrestling. Kanga went on in his story, telling how they'd run into Blaise and Kanga explaining that he often had a hard time warming up to others, except for Rontu. Here he turned and gave the pup a friendly snarl, Rontu hissed back, did a back-flip right there on Kanga's chest and tummy and clicked and hummed and hissed back in play.
Tear:
Tear smiled, definitely a brother relationship. Certain insults were compliments, and insisting silence was one of the most powerful ways to say "I love you,". Not that she could claim much to know about brothers from her own experience, it mostly came from watching her four boys, and Whisper had voiced his thoughts when he'd wanted to. Her thoughts wandered briefly, where was Whisper? She hadn't see or heard from him since...gosh, she wasn't even sure. She almost worried there for a minute, but Kanga launching into another story brought her out of her nostalgic thoughts. Left the pack when they were young - how young? She couldn't help but wonder. They'd come into the territory completely by accident. Somehow, this wasn't much of a surprise to Tear, Kanga was not the most painfully observant wolf she'd ever met. She knew some wolves constantly and painstakingly took in every detail of their surroundings every second they could, but Kanga wasn't like that. He knew enough to be careful (sorta, he'd been alert when she'd come onto the scene), but obviously wasn't overly concerned with tip-toeing through life. Nah, if you're gonna live life, live it.
He reciprocated the question and Tear gave something between a snort and a chuckle. "Which version do you want? Full-length drama or condensed drama which still takes a ridiculously long time?" Kanga chuckled, excused an earlier comment about Blaise and gave Rontu another play snarl. Rontu replied with a competitive hiss, a back-flip (quite possibly knocking some of the wind out of Kanga), another quick hiss and click and then dashed over to his mother and peered up at her expectantly as if to say "Yeah Mom, tell us a story." She draped a paw around him affectionately and not waiting for Kanga's answer tried to recall where her crazy adventure had started. "Well: I didn't come from a great pack either, it leaned more toward Evil and so when I left I took those habits with me. I wondered around for a while, trying to find someplace where my 'evil' talents could be put to good use." Rontu wiggled from under her paw, dashed around and pushed her back. Tear lay down on her belly accordingly and let Rontu climb on and amuse himself with stray wisps of her neck-fur. "Nothing really turned out so I thought I may as well settle down and went to the Forest of Love to find a mate." she suddenly realized that Kanga was probably not familiar with the Valley lore and might require an update on what the heck the Forest of Love was, but she wasn't willing to interrupt her story, she mostly wanted to finish it. "And that was when I met Ramone." she felt Rontu wiggle and make his best imitation of his dad's canine purr and she smiled. "An absolute clown, couldn't take anything seriously to save his life, he reminded me how to smile. It was a sorely needed lesson, one I'll always be grateful for. We hooked up, traveled together for a while, not wanting to be alone again after finding a friend and Ramone decided we should start a pack, so we sent the word around, 'Hey, there's a new pack forming in the woods in the ol' Sapling Grove territory', and we met Hawthorne and Rainbow and Electrobolt, Blaise, Foxtrot, Ruko, Amora," all those names! It felt like so long ago, so bittersweet how the memories came from things passing. "And when it was time to decide who would lead the pack, Ramone and I stepped back and let Blaise take the reins. While Ramone founded the pack he was never interested in leading, and neither was I, all we wanted was to be able to say we had a family." she smiled a little sheepishly, "Well, we sorta got both." she turned, nipped Rontu down from off her back and gathered him into her paws, giving him another big, sloppy kiss on the cheek and humming low in her throat so he could feel the content vibrations, he cuddled somewhat closer to her and smiled contentedly.

Kanga;
"You started Secluded Sunrise?" Kanga echoed, sitting upright and wheezing slightly as Rontu jumped on his chest. It hadn't hurt him exactly, but the little pup had landed right on his lungs and forced the air out too hard. Kanga laughed and inhaled deeply, his chest rising so much and so rapidly that Rontu lifted a foot or two more into the air. Kanga held his breath for the second and caught the pup's eye, then waggled his ears. "Don't the wolves that start a pack usually become the Alpha-pair across the board?" He finished, saying the sentence with the held-air he let out of his lungs. He knew she had explained it to him, but he had thought it sort of went without saying. "Did you hold auditions for the alpha, then?" He chuckled, picturing Blaise trying to stay her quick temper and quicker tongue long enough to apply for something like that. He imagined until there was another official alpha, Tear and Ramone would have been in charge. How had they passed the duty on cleanly?
Rontu hissed at him and inturupted his revere, so Kanga stuck his tongue between his sharp teeth and made the same sort of noise back. He smiled. Would he have been like this as a puppy if he had had more room to thrive? He would never know now, and it was best not to dwell on such things, but perhaps spending more time with Rontu wouldn't be a terrible fate.
Kanga gathered that there must be deeper stories at work within the Neutral pack than what settled on the surface, especially with the amount of wolves she listed off. Electrobolt? That was a name unlike any that Kanga had ever heard, and it pulled a smile from him. From what she told him, she had come from a dark pack, too. Kanga nodded in understanding as she confided that in him. She was certainly not like that anymore—she was the picture of motherhood. Happy in her own respect, protective of her children, and happy with her mate and pack. She was a wonder to Kanga.
"The Forest of Love, eh?" Kanga asked, unable to keep the smile out of his words. It wasn't that he was interested in finding a mate, per se... but a guy's gotta wonder, right? He chewed his lip for a minute. He had never heard of anywhere like that before. "So you just went into the forest and a male you liked eventually came along?" He wasn't judging—he was sitting in fascination. Maybe he should give it a try, if only to see who came along and to have some fun. Or better yet, he could bring Manaaki out and abandon him there and hope he got himself into a messy situation; while of course, watching from the wings. "Amora," He repeated, tasting the name on his tongue. He had heard it before—perhaps from Manaaki, perhaps from someone else in the pack. "Who is she?"

Rontu:
Mom asked which version of the story Kanga wanted and Rontu bolted over to get a good seat for listening. Stories were fun! Not always as exciting as playing tag or chasing squirrels or whatever, but hearing about far-away places and other people's adventures were almost as much fun as having your own. He got Mom to lie down and he crawled on on her back, batting at long, askew wisps of the fur on her neck where the winter coat was growing in. She mentioned meeting Dad and Rontu gave his best imitation of the goofy, canine purr he'd use to soften Mom up or tease her or something. As the story concluded Mom scooped him up and gave him a big sloppy lick and hummed low in her throat so he could feel the vibrations. He listened for a second (the low vibrations fascinated him) and then bolted back to Kanga, breaking some of the reverence the story had brought on and pounced on the giant again, heading straight for the ear to gnaw on while Kanga followed up on some points of interest in the story.
Tear:
"You started Secluded Sunrise?" Rontu bolted back to his new chew-toy of Kanga's ears and Tear nodded her head from side to side. "Ramone did really, it was his idea." he followed up with another question pack leadership. "Maybe that's how it's usually handled, but believe me Kanga, me and Ramone are not leadership material. Sure, we'll help Blaise out as gammas, but alpha-pair?" she shook her head, "We just weren't interested, wanted to be part of the family y'know? Be able to lean on our packmates as much as they leaned on us. When Blaise came to the territory, she was most suited to lead, she had the authority and the intelligence, so with the pack in safe paws Ramone and I just stepped back. We still watch over the pack with her, but we're not in it for the authority, we're in it for the family." Rontu turned to her at that and gave her that toothy, tongue-lolling smile that she loved so much and she grinned back, then he went back to chewing and Kanga went back to asking questions.
The Forest of Love....oh gosh....how to explain that? "Yeah, something like that, the Forest of Love is sort of...bewitching...when you get right down to it. When you find the right wolf, things just click. I think it's part of Taboo's magic from the Mountain, she tries to bring the right wolves together at the right time." The Forest of Love. Just hearing the name and thinking of her time with Ramone there brought a ridiculously juvenile, dreamy smile to her face, and part of the family of Secluded Sunrise or not, she felt like feelings of familial affection were best kept at home, or where you were miles and miles from anyone who would recognize you. She managed to quirk one of the corners of her smile down to a more conversation-appropriate grin as Kanga asked about Amora. "Oh, Amora," Tear smiled as she thought back on Amora, it was watching Ruko and Amora play together that had gotten her and Ramone talking on starting their own family. "You'll like her. She's Blaise's daughter, bright, clever, and believe me when I say she is very sassy. I haven't seen her in...quite a while actually, she's probably out traveling or is hanging out somewhere around here." Tear glanced around as though she expected Amora to just come striding out of thin air.

Kanga;
Kanga kept quiet for once as Tear explained the answers to his questions. He supposed it made sense, if her and her mate had stated from the beginning that they didn't want to rule the pack, that someone else fitting would come along. Blaise certainly did seem fitting, Kanga decided, even from the few minutes he had spent speaking to her. Then they breached the topic of the forest of love. Kanga's broad forehead crinkled slightly as he lifted one furry eyebrow. Interesting... The right wolf at the right time, eh? Maybe he should go check it out. He had no aspirations or anything, but if it was meant to happen, who was he to stop it? He chuckled deep in his throat, thinking what Manaaki would have to say about that. Manaaki—where had he got to, anyway? Did it really take that long to look a den over?
Then Tear began explaining Amora. If Tear thought it neccesary to explain that she was sassy even after explaining who her mother was, Kanga deduced that she must, indeed, have a very sharp tongue. He tossed that around in his mind for a minute or so. Growing up with a mother like Blaise, he imagined anybody would turn out sassy. "So wolves are free to come and go from the territory as they please?" Kanga asked, interest peaking within his voice. He had always had a wanderer's spirit, and though there was plenty he hadn't seen yet within the Secluded Sunrise territory, there was always more to see.
He realized then that Rontu was chewing on his ear, and he smiled. He hadn't even noticed. He flicked his ear and felt the strong cartiledge pull against the little pup's teeth. Rontu was a clever pup, he decided. Underestimated too, probably. That wasn't right! Maybe Kanga could do something about that one day.

Rontu:
Kanga flicked his ear out of Rontu's grasp and Rontu watched for a minute, trying to decide if he wanted to bother crawling after it or not. Nah, you couldn't spend your life chewing on the same piece of furriness, besides he wanted some action. He wanted to do something fun! Something interesting like wrestling with Kanga, an opponent quite easily nine times his size. But Kanga wanted the news of the local neighborhoods, pack rules, he was in the middle of grown-up talk. Rontu stood up, shook himself over and jumped off of Kanga to have a general look around the area. With his nose to the ground the lanky wolf pup began circling around the small clearing and investigating what had been going on. There was Ferox's scent, and Bianca's and Helios's and West's, here was a dominant scent, probably Blaise and a few he did not recognize, likely new-comers or pack-members he hadn't had a chance to say "hi" to yet. A squirrel had dashed through here, a quail had led her brood there, ooh, chipmunk left his acorn right here. It would be fun to watch him come back for it, but that would take waiting and keeping still, which was just plain boring. He kept sniffing until a leaf blew down onto the very tip of his grey nose. Rontu momentarily froze, eyes crossing to stare at the visitor and then jumped after it and launching himself into a pile of leaves, burrowing down to the bottom to examine the fluffy, dark, crackly-ness.
Tear:
Kanga cocked one furry eyebrow at her description. Maybe "bewitching" hadn't been the most flattering word for it, there were others that she associated with the magical place: wonderful, peaceful, home, love, Ramone, memories, nostalgia, dreams, sweet, enchanted. and as much as those descriptions were true, as accurate as those particular words might have been when applied to the Forest, what really applied when you weren't expecting the...inherent effects of the area, the word was "bewitching", her first trip there had almost been disturbing, the air was heavy and sweet and felt something like a drug...a pleasant drug, and it took you for one heck of a ride, but it was still a very strange kind of magic.
Kanga asked about the rules of leaving the territory and Tear nodded. "Absolutely! We aren't a prison camp, we come and go as we need, everyone needs to get out and take a run-around now and then." she watched as Rontu threw himself into a pile of leaves. "Some more than others," she said with a smile.

((Sorry it took so long to reply! I just couldn't think of anything to type up—should we add anything to this thread, or is it petering out? XD Why do our threads always die? I hope it isn't me. How can I do better? XD))
Kanga;
The little pup had found a leaf on his nose, and went after it in a magnificent chase. Kanga smiled to himself and stood up onto his paws, as if he was stretching. He cast a glance behind him at Rontu, and then extended a powerful leg backward and smashed the tree overhanging the pup. It sent hundreds of leaves cascading down onto the little frame, but Kanga was quick to sit back down and appear as innocent as ever, facing the pup's mother once more with the ghost of a smile playing on his face.
"But regarding other claimed lands—we shouldn't enter them, correct? What would a 'good' alpha do if someone trespassed? Ask them nicely to leave?" Kanga smiled. He knew the answer to the bulk of his question, or at least he thought he did. Especially after meeting Blaise's barely-concealed wrath when he and Manaaki had accidentily wandered in without announcing themselves, he had a fair idea of whether or not trespassing was alright. He had also heard of evil packs within the valley, and they were probably more like what he had grown up with. There would be no trespassing there, thank you very much.
"And training," He said, the idea coming to him with no prior thought. "I've heard rumors that there are pups around within Secluded Sunrise that need training." His eyes shifted to Rontu, but he didn't mention the little wolf. "I mean, I may not be trainer material... but I'm sure Manaaki could do it, if needed."

((You're fine Meds! This happens all the time! Often non-plot-relavent threads die pretty quickly, actually this and "Hooligans" went on pretty long considering nothing terribly significant to the overall plot of WWM was going on. Like all conversations, threads too come to an end.))
Rontu:
Ooh! It was dark in here. Dark and crinkly. Every movement made more leaves rustle as he nosed them aside and then they fell back into place behind him. This was fun! It was like being a mole, he'd caught a mole once and brought it back home to show Mom and Dad, Dad had said that moles dig little tunnels in the earth and live underground, it was fun being a mole! Maybe that was what Rontu would do when he grew up, Rontu the mole! Digging tunnels everywhere...nah, there were no squirrels underground for him to chase, maybe it wouldn't be as much fun as he thought. Still, burrowing through leaves was fun, so he made up his mind to enjoy it to the fullest. Wiggle-wiggle-wiggle, he burrowed through the mound until claustrophobia from losing his sense of direction set in and he launched himself straight, searching for a way out. The piles shifted and trembled as he struggled around and whimpered for an escape. Finally he came up gazing at the clear blue sky and Mom gazing intently at the pile to be there for her anxious pup, but seeing him pop out and smile she relaxed. With a thump hundreds more leaves came down on top of the already considerable pile and Rontu blinked as one oversized specimen made itself into a hat as it landed square on his head. For a few seconds he was perfectly still, watching the bursts of red and brown and gold rain down from the treetops, then he jumped into action, zipping and rushing back and forth madly, overjoyed with all of the new targets to be chased and hunted down. He'd get 'em!
Tear:
Rontu whimpered from his pile of leaves and Tear momentarily turned her face toward the mound until he popped out and beamed up at her. Whatever had upset him had been brief, there was no need for concern. Kanga smiled at the little pup playing gopher and smacked the tree-trunk with his rear leg to make more leaves rain down. Rontu was startled into absolute stillness for a few seconds, then burst into action, leaves flying madly thither and yon as he chased and sprayed more resting pieces of foliage into the air. Tear smiled, sufficiently assured that he was alright and turned her attention back to Kanga. "Other claimed lands are a big 'no', if you really want to enter then you'd need a pretty good reason, usually diplomatic; you have to stand at the border and ask for permission, even for ally packs, you don't ignore borders, they're something of a point of pride for a pack, and trespassers are dealt with accordingly." she grinned as Kanga asked whether a good alpha would nicely ask a wolf to leave and shook her head. "You're a rule breaker arenchya? Well...I don't think they'd bite your head off, might shame you or your pack though, 'good' doesn't necessarily mean 'meek' or 'gentle'. Empty or inactive territories are typically okay though, sometimes run through 'em myself." Truthfully Tear hadn't poked around a different territory for some time now, but she did wander now and then when she needed to settle her traveler-itch.
Kanga pressed further with his questions, now turning to the matter of training. Tear nodded to confirm his question, "My oldest three, Helios, Chance and Bianca are about ready to receive trainers. I don't know that Blaise has quite gotten that figured out yet, she's still assigning regular ranks, much less teachers, but I think she's gonna need all the support she can get, I'm sure you'll be teaching, right-material or not." she watched Rontu dash in front of her path and swiftly shot her head down to catch him by the scruff. "What do you think you're doing?" she teased, somehow making her words remarkably clear around the scruff between her teeth, seven pups had given her plenty of practice. She let him go and Rontu reared up and began bombarding her face with little puppy kisses again. Tear moved her head out of the way and glanced at the sky. The afternoon shadows were starting to get long, it was time to get Rontu home. She nodded to Kanga, "It's been nice meeting you, but this little guy needs to be getting home." Rontu whimpered and groaned in protest and dashed back toward Kanga, then looked at his mother over his shoulder reproachfully. "Don't look at me like that mister," Tear shook her head at the pleading face, she wasn't falling for that one. "If you have any more questions I'd be happy to try and help, you know where to find me." she turned to leave and glanced back over her shoulder, waiting for her pup to follow.

Kanga;
And just like that, it was time to go. Kanga held his smile in place as Tear excused her and her energetic little Rontu. Kanga had grown very fond of him over the short time spent in the clearing. He bent down to eye-level and gave the pup a steady, silent smile. Why not talk to him in his own language, after all? He straightened his massive body once again and nodded deeply to Tear. The Gamma of his pack. It had been quite a lovely meeting, after all—far different than what Kanga may have guessed it would have been like. It was a good wake-up call for him to meet an authority figure that seemed to have her head screwed on just right.
"A pleasure," He said, and flicked his russet ears toward the pup. "I'll be seeing you around."
As the mother and son left, Kanga turned to the opposite direction they had gone. He sighed, feeling the familiar darkness settle over him that occasionally did when he was alone. Unwanted memories of his past seemed to love turning up when they weren't welcome. He was usually fine, and the memories didn't bother him that much; however, after seeing a happy mother with a healthy, strong pup had sent him for a bit of a loop. He shook his thick mane out with a sigh and stood, hitching his constant grin back into place. It was time to find Manaaki. The elder twin could always clear his brother's head when thoughts turned dark.

Rontu:
Mom caught him and he turned around to attack her snout with puppy-kisses. She released him and he continued making a nuisance of himself, pawing at her chest and legs and turning back and forth between the adults for someone to play with. Then Mom said it was time to go home. Rontu's face was one of utter disbelief and he groaned in protest. He knew that tone, that was the tone she used when she meant it. He dashed over to Kanga and wagged his tail hopefully to ask: "Five more minutes?" But Mom shook her head, "Don't look at me like that mister," he whimpered again, padded up to Kanga and begged, pawing the massive wolf and pacing back and forth in a little dance, asking for him to intervene and change Mom's mind. Kanga smiled, bent down until their eyes were level and gave Rontu a steady smile: he knew what that meant, it meant that Mom was right...shoot. Still, Kanga's smile was assuring and promised that they'd see each other in the future and Rontu encouraged a smile and got his tail to wag as he bobbed his head to acknowledge the unspoken promise.
Tear:
Kanga gave Rontu an encouraging smile that said: "Listen to your Mom," and while Rontu's tail momentarily drooped, he nodded and she hoped he could obey. Kanga straightened and nodded to the gammess and she nodded back. "I look forward to it," she replied to his promise that he'd see the family around the pack lands, then he turned and strode off to his own den-site. Rontu whimpered a little as his newest playmate left and Tear came over to herd him back to their den. "C'mon Rontu," he whimpered again and stared off in the direction Kanga had left in and she craned her head a little further around to find some forlorn expression on the usually perky face. "It's okay, you heard him, you can play with him another time." she gently licked her pup on the cheek to assure him and playfully butted him with her head. He fell over and sprang back up, playfully growling and snatching a bite here or there at his mother's face. She chuckled, caught him again by the scruff and raised her head to carry him home. Rontu swung from her jaw as her steady pace carried them deeper into the wood until she decided he was getting too big to be carried and let him walk on his own power. He eagerly pawed the ground and dashed around his mother once or twice before he fell to her side and they went on together.
-Exit Tear and Rontu-
