Leo paddled up to shore and climbed out of the water, perching himself next to Rayen. Instinctively, he almost shook himself, flinging water all over the place, but decided to be courteous of Rayen whom he had just saved from the water. "Yeah..." he agreed with an awkward, blushing smile. He opened his mouth prepared to give an explanation as to why he was strong, then realized he could not quite recall. "Maybe I did a lot of training in my old life," he offered. What would he possibly need to train for? It remained a mystery, and somehow, he was okay with that.
Leo shifted his gaze in the direction of the pool, shards of ice floating at the surface. All at once, his eyes widened as he spotted a shaggy brown figure resting on a fairly large ice island. Oh, yes, they had come here to hunt, hadn't they? Now their prey which had caused so much commotion earlier was drifting away. Well, he was already wet, now wasn't he? What was one more dip in the ice water? After a moment of hesitation, Leo tentatively slipped back into the freezing bath, paddling toward the ice raft. It really was not that bad once he was already in the water. He grabbed the rabbit with his mouth and carried it back to shore, holding his head high carefully so that the animal would not become damper than it already was, placing it between him and his friend. "Bon appetit."

Rayen;
Leo blushed, and Rayen grinned. Blushing wasn't unbecoming to him. In fact, something about him made her smile—which was usually easy anyway—even wider. How fascinating. He was the same wolf she had met that day at the ruins, the same troubled soul who couldn't remember where he came from...and yet, now, when she saw him there, dripping and shivering in the winter air, it made her happy. She couldn't even explain why to herself. After he was done blushing and she was done smiling about it, he seemed about to explain why or how he was such a powerhouse—but then he faltered. Rayen's face fell, and a low, lilting whine escaped her mouth. She felt so sad for her friend. She leaned forward and butted gently against him with her head. If there was a way of helping him remember—some trigger or shock that could help—she wanted to find it. "I'll help you," She said simply, butting him again before sitting straight again. "We'll figure out who you are, yet." It seemed the only acceptable thing to offer, anyway.
Then, all of a flash, the handsome golden wolf was under the water again. Rayen jumped up in surprise, before seeing what he was paddling toward. That's right, the rabbit! She laughed, tossing her head around and smiling. He certainly made her smile, that couldn't be argued. Before she knew it he was back, and actually had the audacity to suggest that it was still her who deserved to eat. "If anyone deserves it, you do!" She smiled, flashing her teeth at him. "Oh but you must be almost frozen!" She said, forgetting about the rabbit for a minute and looking up at the sun. It was past midday, and nearing twilight with every moment. "How can I help?" She knew how she had warmed up frozen friends when she was a loner, but she wasn't sure if Leo would enjoy that. She supposed she could tackle him and force him to curl up with her, if it got to evening and he still wasn't properly dry. Winter nights were not ideal for being dripping wet. Rayen ripped the rabbit in half, nosing the larger piece to him. If she could get him eating, at least, that was better than nothing.

Leo smiled at her when she mentioned helping him figure out who he was, but did that really matter that much anymore? He was here, in this moment, with Rayen, so what was the point of looking back on old memories? However, there was a hidden fear inside him. What if Leo did not like who he really was? It might almost be better to never find out at all. This was like a fresh start. A new beginning. He had friends now, and he might even join Eternal Snowfall with Rayen. Leo was perfectly fine in his blissful ignorance.
After offering her the rabbit, Rayen did not accept. "If anyone deserves it, you do!" she said as though he would be able to eat the whole thing in front of her without sharing. "Oh but you must be almost frozen!" Leo remembered reality all of a sudden, and the feeling of cold drippy water returned. "Stand back," he said getting ready to shake himself off. He wouldn't want to get Rayen all wet. It felt good to fling the water in every direction, but as he finished up and no more would come off, he found himself still wet and clammy. "How can I help?" Leo shrugged. "Come on, let's go eat this rabbit in the sun," That would feel nice even for a wolf who was not dripping wet. He smiled at his friend casually, then looked around for a good spot. What caught his eye was a large flat rock hanging over the frozen falls. It looked sturdy enough, and if not, what was a little bit of adventure anyway? "I bet the view is amazing up there," he said grabbing both halves of the rabbit and padding in that direction. He naturally almost brushed against Rayen, but avoided getting her wet like himself. He grinned at her as he passed by, and gestured for her to follow.

Rayen;
Rayen danced out of the way as Leo shook the water free of his pelt. She hadn't moved when he had warned her, not understanding until too late. She only got a few droplets, and they were slightly warmed up by his body heat by the time they reached her, so it wasn't too bad. She chuckled, sniffing the air as the sun continued its slow decent and Leo continued to shake. He certainly did make a pretty picture, sillohetted against the sun sending rainbows of shining water in every direction.
Rayen cleared her throat when Leo suggested moving to a sunnier spot. She nodded, smiling to herself. The black mask on her face did well to hide her expressions when she wanted it to, but the smile always shone out without a problem. She couldn't have agreed more when Leo mentioned how lovely the view would be. She could picture it already—the sun-kissed frozen waterfall, the lake with pieces of ice broken and catching the sun. Leo trotted away, then, and Rayen's keen observatinal skills easily picked up how clsoe he came to brushing against her. For some reason her heart leapt into her throat when he passed by slow closely, but she assumed it was because she was worried about getting a chill from his still-wet fur.
"I'll bet I can beat you there," She barked, not waiting for a reply and tearing around him. She turned and called over her shoulder. "Let's see if the mystery wolf can beat the loner!" She grinned and was gone. Up the twisting slope she went, claws keen in the snow and ice. It was melting by then, and she found patches of dirt to cling to easily enough. Without wasting time on looking back to see if her friend was following or not, Rayen inhaled deeply and skipped forward. The feeling of wind in her fur and the how different the landscape looked in the snow reminded her of new experiences in new places. There was still a deep-part of her that longed for the unknown and unclaimed outskirts of the valley, but there was also a part of her that knew Eternal Snowfall was where she needed to be at that point in her life. Why, she couldn't guess, but she was sure the reason would make itself known in due time. Her striped white and green coat glistened in the evening sun as she moved smoothly over the white surface of the ground. Before she knew it, she was at the spot Leo had pointed out—and he had been right. The view was breathtaking. She perched on the edge of the rock and took it all in with a smile.

"Sorry!" Leo said after splashing water on Rayen. He had not given her enough time to get out of the way, but the forest green she wolf just chuckled casually, not seeming to mind, which made Leo feel slightly guiltier about flinging cold water all over his happy friend. "I'll bet I can beat you there," said Rayen when Leo gestured to the spot in the sun. What was this wolf's deal with racing? Playfully, Leo bounded after her carrying two rabbit halves in his mouth. While his legs were long and muscular, Rayen was awfully fast. It was difficult to catch up to her. As he ran, the rabbit swayed behind him flicking drops of blood into the snow. When Leo reached the top, he sat next to his friend and turned his head back in the direction of the red trail he had left. The white silky snow was dotted with speckles of crimson leading up to where the two sat. They were almost like miniature rose petals creating a regal scarlet pathway down the icy slopes.
First, Leo shifted his gaze from the blood spangled snow, to the breathtaking view from the cliff. He had expected to be amazed by it, but not this amazed. It was glorious, like the power itself was just showing off. Leo widened his eyes as he took it all in. Second, he shifted his gaze to another lovely sight. A mossy green she wolf had a bright grin on her face staring off at the vast scenery. She looked happy, which made Leo happy.
He nudged a rabbit half in Rayen's direction, then took a bite of his own. The sun felt great against his fur, already warming him up. He was content.

Rayen;
Leo was with her the whole way as she dashed up the slope. She liked that. That was one thing he would have to get used to if they were to be friends—how she loved to run. There we too much to see in the world to take it slow. Every passing minute there was something to see. Her spirit ran free, and she followed it. Once they had stopped on the top, she couldnt' spare eyes for her handsome friend. The view was amazing. It was getting less sparkly, as the sun dipped lower, but it was still gorgeous. With the light nearing evening, the white snow seemed almost to glow. It truly was wonderful.
When she did eventually look over at Leo, she was startled to find him staring at her and smiling. She pushed against his shoulder with her nose, exhaling a warm huff into his fur. "What?" She asked, turning her head side to side as if to see if any fur was out of place, or if she had mud or blood anywhere. What was he looking at? She probably did have mud somewhere on her—she almost always did. Rayen grinned back at him and one ear flicked up.
He nudged some rabbit to her, and she took it happily. Ripping it apart, she sat and looked over the landscape, chewing thoughtfully. After a few more bites, she turned to him with a stupid smile, a foot hanging out of her mouth. "You're an alright dinner companion I suppose." She chuckled, then crunched the rest of the foot and finished it off cleanly. "If I had to pick one."

The sun was an egg yolk slowly sliding down the horizon. Orange and green sat atop a cliff enjoying the view, devouring a humble rabbit dinner. The two were a colorful site, standing out against the bleak snowy scenery. Four eyes, emerald, brown dotted with gold, two flanks, mossy green with black and white against various shades of golden orange. Leo laughed at Rayen's playful comment. "I can say the same about you," he said calmly still gazing out at the sunset, pink and orange clouds painted across the horizon. "You are the only wolf I can remember ever having dinner with."
Leo felt safe. What could possibly go wrong now? In this peaceful place, where no one else existed except he and Rayen, it was hard to believe problems ever occurred in his world. After enjoying a helping of rabbit, and warming up from the sun, Leo sighed. He settled down with his paws crossed over each other. "I wish everyday was like this,"

Rayen;
Rayen smield at Leo's words and let a gentle huff out as she exhaled contentedly. So she was the only wolf he could remember having dinner with, eh? That meant that technically... she was the only wolf he had ever had dinner with. "That's a lot to live up to!" She said, rumbling happily in her chest. For some reason then, she felt that same excitement bubble up in her stomach once more. The unexplainable excitement... She looked to the side, breathing gently, and felt some of it loosen. That was positive; however, the minute she turned and looked at Leo, it fired up again. What was this feeling? She brought her head back to the centre quickly. She had a feeling she knew what was going on in her head... But she couldn't believe it. In all of her years dealing with handsome, strong, rouge male wolves who were interested in her, never... never had she had this feeling.
She realized she was smiling broadly, and was quick to rearrange her face. This was not something she could let her imagination run off with. She didn't know who Leo was, Leo didn't know who Leo was. More than that, she didn't want to assume anything. Leo didn't think of her that way—actually to be fair, she didn't even know if she thought that way. But there was that unexplainable feeling of safety, comfort, and excitement again... No. No! She needed to snap out of it.
After sitting still for a few more minutes, battling all of this out in her mind, the less-cautious side took over and she leaned to the side. She pressed her nose gently once more into Leo's fur, right above his shoulder, but this time instead of exhaling into him, she inhaled softly. Her eyes fluttered closed. He smelled of warm days and golden sunlight—of mystery and the unknown. As she breathed in his warm scent, she thought instantly of adventure, laughter, and unrealized passion.
Shortly after that, she realized what she had done. She froze, nose still buried into his soft fur. Then, she her eyes opened in a pained sort of way. It was too late to turn back now, she may as well go all in. "I wish everyday was like this, too."
What was she doing? What in the Power's name was she doing?
She pulled back and sighed to herself in a half-laugh. "Sorry," She murmered, blushing and trying to become preoccupied with the view again.

"That's a lot to live up to!"
Leo laughed, from deep in his throat, a hardy, firm, and thoroughly amused laugh. But it was not obnoxious nor was it noisy, actually rather quiet. It was just solid and sure. But still a happy sound. He grinned from ear to ear at the great vast horizon, a world full of the unknown and undiscovered. That was one of the upsides to losing his memory: a blank slate. Now that he had a chance to sit back and think about something other than remembering, he realized there was so much opportunity for him. So much to discover, or at least rediscover.
At first, Leo did not even notice when Rayen leaned into him. It felt almost natural. But soon a strange feeling came over him. It was familiar, like it had always been lurking inside of him and just needed a reason to come out. It was happy, but in an excited adventurous sort of way. Like he had no idea what was going to happen next, but looked forward to it, whatever it was. There was also another feeling. He had never felt something like it before. Although he could not remember his past, he knew this was a foreign feeling that never once had he felt before, and it was hard to explain. It was a huge mix of safety, and...... desire, but also protectiveness. Somehow, if anything ever happened to Rayen, he would never forgive himself.
Leo felt Rayen freeze. Even though she did not move, she became stiffer and no longer radiated the same joy and warmth that Leo had not even noticed was there before. But once it was gone, he knew it was gone.
"I wish everyday was like this, too." She spoke with a hint of awkwardness and discomfort. Leo noticed she had done that often, but he had always thought it was kind of endearing. She pulled away from him, leaving a warm spot quickly invaded by chilly air. "Sorry," she said softly, sounding almost ashamed of herself. Leo smiled, slightly amused by her comment. Subtly, and very gently, he leaned into her again. "Sorry for what?" he asked playfully, but still sounding genuinely confused.

Rayen;
White-striped tail thrashed behind her as she stilled her breathing and looked out over the frozen but quickly melting expanse. She could still smell Leo's fur mingling in her nose. It was blissful, but she hardly allowed herself time to enjoy it. She had taken the plunge, and now who knew what was abotu to happen? Somehow, though, Leo surprised her. He asked her what she was sorry for, and leaned into her. The warmth radiating from his body seemed almost to connect to her own heart, and she pressed back against him without even really meaning to. The longer fur around his neck was all around her face, his shoulder was against hers, and suddenly, but very softly, her tail brushed over his.
"I... I can't remember," She admitted. It seemed so silly now, to have been sorry for anything. Especially this, which seemed so perfect and right. She closed her eyes against him, green fur mingling with gold, and was content. Their breathing synced, and as the sun continued its descent and the sky began to hold the faintest hints of pink, Rayen took another plunge.
Gently, so gently, she nuzzled into his mane once more, but this time it wasn't to smell him, and it wasn't to play—she just wanted to be closer. She exhaled into his mane softly, closing her eyes and smiling. Warning bells were going off in her mind, but she quieted them and decided to be happy in the moment. For some reason, it felt like nothing bad could happen while Leo was with her. It was as if it was all meant to be. Her tail wagged behind her subtly.

"I... I can't remember," Rayen's body became relaxed, and she seemed comfortable with Leo. She nuzzled close to his lion's mane, and Leo submissively leaned into her, but tried not to apply too much pressure out of fear of pushing her over, which he probably would be capable of doing, the strong wolf he was. They were both happy together, longing to be closer to one another. If Leo were a cat, he'd be purring. This was a place he could see himself spending the rest of his life.
The sun finally set below the horizon, darkening the scenery around them. The white snow still reflected the light of a full moon that slowly rose to reveal its face, tinting the snowscape with a soft glow. Gently, Leo tilted his head back slightly to gaze up at the vast dome that was the sky. "Look at all those stars," he whispered as glowing dots began to show up.
A quick white streak swiped across the sky, and as soon as it appeared, it was gone. If Leo had blinked he would have missed it. A shooting star he thought. Leo was silent for a moment, then he moved his nose to Rayen's ear. "Make a wish."
((Yeah, I know, I know, it's unrealistic that the moon comes out immediately after sunset but whatever! It's love!))

Rayen;
The moon was full, reflecting on Rayen's eyes and the snow and ice all around. She felt the urge to howl, as she often did when gazing up at the night sky, but for some reason she didn't. It was her loner's spirit telling her to claim her own self, howl to the night so as not to lose herself in the moment... but she was already lost. She was lost in Leo's warmth, and golden fur, and scent. He whispered in her ear to make a wish, and Rayen felt a shiver climb up her back. She closed her eyes and made a wish.
It was a fleeting thing, the whisper of a wish. But she wished it. She felt herself blush, and ducked her head against Leo once more. Who was this wolf? This blushing, wishing, comfortable wolf? Rayen would never have considered herself a suspicious being... but her upbringing had taught her never to get comfortable. When one got comfortable, dangerous things happened.
But she wasn't afraid.
"I wish..." She whispered back to him, and then took the final plunge and licked Leo's cheek. No more warning bells... no more fear.
((I say, one more reply from you, and then this thread is wrapped? We can bring them into Spreading Shadows eventually (those two already there are fast repliers), and after that scare they can bring on dah puppies!?))

Leo yawned, relaxed. As Rayen nuzzled into his mane, he rested his head on her's. She was warm, and it was hard to remember that he had fallen in a frozen pond earlier. "I wish..." he heard her say, wondering what exactly she was wishing for. At the same time he closed his eyes and made his own wish. I wish this moment will last forever. I wish we can always be together. Oh power, I don't even want to remember myself. Just let me be with her forever. Suddenly, he felt a lick on his cheek and froze, even his breath held. He opened his emerald eyes in shock at first, then blushed, avoiding meeting her eyes. He smiled slightly, enjoying the after feeling on his golden facial fur, then turned and licked her in return. Leo expected her to flinch or move away, or even another "come on, cheeseball," but Rayen would not do that, would she? Not in this perfect moment. Leo opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out, so he just sighed and smiled calmly. Nothing could go wrong now.
