Blitz: Reference ( @eizer ) The males emerald eyes shone in the unexpected sunlight of winter. It was a moderate day with only the slightest breeze and a gathering of grey clouds sat upon the sky. The rushing river shone ever so slightly from that same light his eyes had. A small patch of leaves sat just next to the river as if it were a seat, custom made for a wolf. Although odd, he curiously trotted over to it and sat himself down without a worry. It was serene and peaceful here, nothing here to disturb his adventurous, ever wandering mind. As he glanced down toward the rushing rapids he saw his only reflection staring right back at him. It made him jump for a moment, thinking it was another wolf. But no, it was just him being a complete idiot as he sometimes was. Naturally, he let a light laugh loose. What a silly thought! Thinking that it was someone. He shook his head while the last of his laughs faded. With a joyous grin he lay down by the riverbank and listened to the rush of the water, the rustle of leaves, the cool, refreshing breath of the breeze. His bright coat swayed in the ever changing winds and the river seemed so beautiful, so shockingly strong. With a soft paw he reached inside the water, his reflection started to waver and dissolve into a swish of colour. The rustle of bushes nearby made him prick with surprise. With a light sniff of the sharp air he determined it was just a harmless rabbit. Maybe I can catch it later.. For the moment though, he was not particularly hungry. But now it was time to decide where to head next on his travelling adventure, make plans for where he would go, what he would do. Wait, what am I thinking?! I will just go wherever the wind takes me! He scolded himself. The rabbit from earlier had sprung from the bushes and sprinted out of sight before he could even comprehend what was happening. What's up with that little one? He tilted his head at the bush and shrugged. He continued to swish his paw in the icy creek and let his thoughts drift to all the wonderful adventures and dangers that awaited him on his journey. What fun he would have! What sights he would see! It was all great in his mind, but all in all, real life wasn't always as perfect as his fantasies.

The old Veter didn't really like traveling in daylight but due to the harsh winter, he had no choice but to do so just to keep warm. Aside from the grey clouds, it did look like a pretty good day. But without the moon or starts to guide him, he had to admit that he was moving aimlessly. Not knowing the surrounding area made him feel uneasy at first. He was moving with his body slightly lower on the ground than usual careful to not make too much noise. However, his steps were still heavy as he tried to make his way in the snow-covered ground. While it wasn't very thick but still, there were a layer of snow that made walking, at least for him, a bit more difficult. But it could just him with his old age. Then a noise caught his attention. Veter took a quick glance toward the source of the sound and saw something moving. A rabbit? Well, that could be lunch for him. If he can manage to catch it. Lowering his body even more, the wolf made very careful steps toward that small rabbit. But then, a small crack sound was heard from underneath his right foot. That was just enough for the rabbit to notice his presence and run away. It was of no use for him to go chase him, in this game of speed, he would certainly lose anyway. Well, there's go lunch. Trying to hunt in daylight seemed to be harder for the old wolf. A sigh escaped his mouth as he began moving again. It didn't take long for him to find a river. A smiled drew on his face as he made his way toward the water. As he got closer and closer, he saw his own reflection and stopped moving. He looked awful. He stood there, looking at the water for moment. Moving his head right then left, Veter felt so old just by glancing at his own reflection. Did he got thinner? He wasn't sure anymore. Oh well, there weren't much he could do about it right now. Lowering his head to drink from the cold river, the wolf took his time and enjoy the water. Unknown to him, there were another wolf nearby but he was so distracted that he didn't even notice him. Veter then sat down very straight next to the river and then saw something next to the river as well. He blinked few times to make sure that it wasn't his mind playing tricks on him. Tilting his head to left, the elder studied the red and orange wolf and then took a deep breath. Nah, it wasn't an illusion or anything of the sort. Veter stood silent for a moment trying to figure what to do next. Perhaps talking to him would be a good idea. "Hmmmm..." He made a sound for him to notice him if he didn't already. "Enjoying the water?" He then asked before laying down next to the river. He wasn't very good at making small talk. "Do you mind entertaining an old wolf per chance?" By entertaining he meant talking. "Or am I disturbing you, perhaps?"🌅Phoenix🌅

Blitz: The crunch of snow was apparent, he could sense that someone was coming his way. This did not concern him, the male lay patiently in a relaxed fashion waiting for the wolf to stumble upon him. As the other wolf approached him and seated themselves not all that far from where he lay. He seemed straight-backed and maybe even sore, maybe he was an Elder? His eyes casually fell upon him, taking in a few details as the elderly looking wolf spoke, well, more made his presence clear. "Hmmmm." They did not speak or seem to carry themselves in a threatening manner, but looks can be deceiving. Even if this wolf was and elder, it didn't mean he couldn't fight at all. Maybe not the best in fangs, but certain wolves could be brutal with words. He continued to swish his left paw backs and forth, side to side, enjoying the refreshing sharpness of the icy waters. Obviously, in Winter it may simply be the oddest thing that this wolf found it enjoyable to touch anything wasn't going to help him stay warm. With his genuine trademark grin played on his maw, opening himself up to the Elder saying that he was looking for friends. Not enemies.
"Enjoying the water?" The wolf in his company had asked. His smile only widened further, "Why of course! The water is brilliant and powerful, what's not to like?" His voice boomed enthusiastically while being intertwined with joy. Of course this wolf was going think he was the weirdest piece of living thing in existence, saying something like that! Not that he cared all that much for others opinions and criticism. He welcomed the Elder to go ahead and give him all the odd looks imaginable, why wouldn't he? It was an odd thing to say after all. The male dipped his head into the cool stream and let the rushing water consume his snout. He closed his eyes and listened. Listened hard. He could hear the rush of water, crashing past his face, the fish swimming frantically, his own breath on his snout and the bubbles of lost air rising to the surface. Then he realised how rude this must seem, him randomly dipping his head into icy waters in front of a stranger. He threw his head back and out of the water and sent droplets flying in every which way. A few blinks cleared up his foggy vision and he wiped some water away with a paw.
"I am so sorry," He apologised and dipped his head in respect. "That was quite rude of me to just... Drop my snout in like that with company around.." "Do you mind entertaining an old wolf by any chance?" The stranger had said. He guessed by that he just wanted to talk. "Or am I disturbing you, perhaps?" The wolf had added. Blitz gave a light shake of his head and chuckled. "Of course not, I am up for a chat any time." It was true, although he loved seeking danger, he liked to chat every so often. "Are you by any chance... Hungry?" The male asked, as an offer that he could hunt for a snack.

Veter waited patiently as the younger wolf dipped his head into the cold water. He did had a point about water though, it was one of nature's majestic wonder. Without it, there wouldn't be any kind of life whatsoever. But in winter, it was a bit too cold maybe. Heck, everything winter was too cold in his book. Hopefully, spring was going to come by soon and he could finally see more green than white. Seeing him dip his head into the water didn't disturb him, not one bit. He seemed to be enjoying it and who was he to not allow that? He might be an elder but that didn't gave him any rights to decide what others should do. Seeing him do so kind of made him want to do it as well. But he much preferred to just lay down and try to keep warm. The old wolf laughed softly when the younger one apologized. Looking at him with his seemingly tired eyes, he took a good glance at the wolf before looking at the water and back and forth. "Do not be sorry." He simply said while smiling. "You did nothing wrong nor rude. It's actually quite refreshing to see someone enjoy the water as much as you do." After all, one should enjoy life as much as possible. Otherwise, why be alive in the first place? "Go ahead, do not mind me, I really don't mind at all" And he change position to sit. He would stay silent for a moment waiting for him to answer his previous questions. "I would be lying if I told you that I'm not hungry." He then paused to stretch his body. "But really, do not worry too much about me." If anything, he didn't want people to take pity at him for being old. Even if that might not have been what the younger wolf meant when he asked that question. "Unless you are hungry as well." He then said while looking around and all he could really see was white snow and footprints here and there. Good thing that the sun was partially covered, otherwise looking at the snow could be blinding to his old eyes. "My name is Veter." He said while bowing his head a little. "May I inquire your name?" He was going to call him young but pretty much everyone he meets is younger than he is. This time, it was him that faced the river to drink a bit of the cold water. It was quite refreshing now that he thought about it. He might not have enjoyed as much at the other wolf but he could see why he seemed to like it so much. Taking a quick moment to think, the old wolf stood on all four and glanced at the red and orange wolf. "Do you happen to be alone?" Veter asked with curiosity. He didn't seem lost, not at all. So maybe he was just enjoying some time away from his pack? He couldn't remember the last time he was part of a pack, it seemed to have been forever. "Sorry if I ask too many questions." Veter then apologized. "It has been a while since I met someone peaceful." Not that he met a lot of wolves these days because of traveling at night habits but still, it was nice to have someone to talk with. 🌅Phoenix🌅

Blitz: It seemed as if his apology had been accepted, in its own way. The elderly wolf seemed not to be bothered or put off by his odd actions and didn't even give him the odd glance he was expecting, only a light laugh. "Don't be sorry." He had put it simply, seeming to really mean it. The wolf had even admitted that is was quite refreshing to see an individual such as himself enjoy the water. It quite a surprise to him, his features changed to show this before he changed back to his normal, grinning face. He seemed friendly of sorts, this wolf and Blitz had little suspicions. Even if any wolf who crossed his path seemed.. Unpleasnt; There was a slim chance he would be worried at all. This Elder seemed, tired, hungry and just plainly looking for a place to stay warm this Winter season. The thought of needing food made his stomach grumble. "I would be lying if I told you I wasn't hungry." The wolf stretched and continued to add onto his previous words. "But really, do not worry too much about me." He wasn't offended or shocked by his comments nor was he all too worried about the Elder either, he seemed like a wolf who could handle himself fairly well. He only made the offer just to see if they were interested. Nothing more. But the grumble of his stomach said that he too, was hungry.
It was mostly white, white and more white! Green, brown, anything really that wasn't white was a welcoming sight to him. The snow didn't show much promise on silently sneaking up on prey, but it wasn't half as bad as crunching leaves or snapping twigs underfoot. "Unless you are hungry as well." Indeed, he was hungry, possibly starving. He nodded and said, "I too, would be lying if I wasn't hungry." The thought of food overwhelmed him and spoke louder than any other thing on his mind. Food... All I want is food! It was hard to keep a clear mind with the hunger that gnawed at his belly. He forced himself to concentrate on the elderly wolf as he spoke some more. The wolf mentioned his name, Veter. Vee-ter. He sounded it out in his mind and tried to make sure he remembered. With a bow of his head, the Elder asked him of his own name. "Pleasure to meet you Veter." With a friendly grin he stated his own. "Name's Blitz."
The male dipped his snout into the rushing water, taking a few laps before raising it again. He wasn't particularly thirsty. It was just a natural reaction to him whenever he was near a body of water. It was sharp with cold, undeniably refreshing. His ears twitched slightly as he listened for a faint rustle among bushes, or slight movement nearby. He was hoping he would be able to catch some quick lunch. "Do you happen to be alone?" The elderly wolf asked. He tilted his head while facing him. What harm could there be in answering such a simple question like that? He pushed the thought of a snack at the back of his mind answered. "Yeah, I am alone." He stretched out his tail before curling it neatly beside him. "Nothing wrong with it though, I love adventure and there are no wolves who can command me to do otherwise." The male added honestly. The stranger continued to say it had been a while since had met some as peaceful as himself. "I guess you could me peaceful." He shrugged at the Elder. "But don't get me wrong, I like live a life full of danger." The male did not mind whatsoever to the barrage of questions, he actually found himself enjoying it. He had never really been asked this much in his life. "It's fine to ask questions, a good thing actually."
"Are you up for a hunt? Or will we just sit around all afternoon?"

"Blitz, pleasure to meet you as well." Veter said with a smile. For some reasons, that name sounded young and full of energy compared to his. But he didn't seemed to be that young with a closer look. Most definitely an adult from what he could see. None the less, it didn't really matter. He was actually happy to see that he wasn't that young seeing that he said that he was alone. Winter is harsh for most wolves and any young loner might feel victim to the icy cold and blizzards. But Blitz seemed to be used to it, much more than he was. Maybe if he were few years younger, he too would be better suited for the winter season. Looking at the grey clouds above him, he thought that he saw the sun rays for a split second. Veter was full of superstitions, he likes to think that the sun, moon and star were there to guide them. But it was only superstitions, until proven otherwise. "I can see that you are full of spirit." He then said before stretching his legs. "It's a good quality to have, keep it as long as you can." He added before nodding to himself. While he didn't really approved of always looking for danger, he couldn't argue with it as he too used to be young and wild when he was younger. Okay, maybe he didn't seek danger per say, but he sure has welcomed it many times. And as for not wanting to being in a pack, well, he couldn't say much there too. He couldn't even remember when he left his pack or why did he do so in the first place. Maybe it was the urge of the unknown, the urge to see everything before losing the capacity of doing so. "Be as free as the wind if you like so, but remember than a little help from times on times isn't a bad thing." And he paused for a moment. "Even at my age, I've still a lot to learn from others."And then he admitted that he too was hungry. Well, then there were no need for further discussion. They would have to go hunt for something to eat. Veter simply shook his whole body for a moment to wake up his muscles and bite the air. His body was still sore for not sleeping enough but he should be good for hunting if Blitz was here beside him. He wasn't sure if he knew the place around the but he most certainly knew more than the elder so he was going to follow. Not that he could outrun him anyway. "Lead the way, Blitz." He simply said before waiting for him to take a step in whichever direction. They might not find a easy prey but maybe they would be lucky. Or maybe he was underestimating Blitz's hunting skills. But then, he did mention that he was alone so he surely knew how to hunt alone. Maybe not big preys but still, any hunting skills were welcomed in his book. Veter was about to ask him if he knew a good hunting spot. All he saw so far were that rabbit. Bu again, traveling at night time in winter doesn't really make you see a lot of things. Only the cold and the few snowstorms here and there. He could recall having to hide for many nights in the wild hoping that mother nature would be kinder on the next day. But he had to admit that even he would lose faith after a while. But he doubt that people could blame him for that. "Tell me, Blitz." He began speaking in his deep voice. "I've only seen small prey so far around here. Perhaps you think that we will be luckier today?" Or maybe he didn't believe in luck. Again, Veter was quite the superstitious one so he did believe in such things as luck. "I am but an old wolf, I do not have in me the same speed that you have, my friend." He admitted so that he would know that he wasn't the best hunting partner. But he would do his best to follow the red and orange wolf. "But do not worry, I'll stay close if needed."🌅Phoenix🌅

Blitz: The elders tone was pleasant and his smile welcoming. So far, there wasn't anything to feed the pair let alone and individual. With the thought of a hunt pushed aside, just for a moment he thought of the energetic way he had leaped as a pup. The way he jumped with joy at the sight of snow and all the snowballs he had assembled with his own tiny paws before hurling them into the Wildwater Falls. He remembered he would compete with some of the other pups in the area and have competitions. It was a simpler time then, for now, where he stood, it was peaceful. But still the Good, Evil and even Neutral wolves of the valley seemed to fight constantly. Harmony and peace was what he really wished would come between the alliances and packs. Not doom and destruction. As he shoved the topic away in the attempts to never think about the constant fighting among wolves of all genders and Alliances again. The young adult listened to the new words that formed on the other wolf's mouth. "I can see that you are full of spirit," The wise Elder stretched his legs, then continued to talk. "It's a good quality to have, keep it as long as you can.." "I will." He nodded and took it in.
"I can see that you are quite the wise wolf, actually." The male attempted to compliment the elder. "It too, is a great quality." Blitz slowly lifted himself to his feet and began to stretch his body and let out a yawn. A lot of lying down had done him little good. Winter was one of his favourite seasons. It was harsh and not the best for hunting or breeding, yes, but it was quite fascinating to him and he quite enjoyed the bitter cold that it brought. He did not require the warmth of a pack, he only needed the freedom and adventure that he desired. It was something you couldn't always get when you were apart of one, not that it was a prison... But. He just liked the idea that he was anchored down by any group or leaders. With a slow trot, he made his way to the wolf in his company. "Be as free as the wind you like so, but remember than a little help from times on times isn't a bad thing." Veter told him. It was true, a friend could aid him in his adventures, but if a death ever came upon them he didn't want to be the reason. He didn't want the fault of it to be him, he would never forgive himself if that ever happened. Nice to have company though, this Elder seemed friendly enough for his liking and his experience could be an advantage. "Even at my age, I've still a lot to learn from others." Blitz dipped his head in agreement and flicked his ears, looking for a rustle of bushes, or the crunch of snow.
"I think anyone can learn anything, no matter the circumstances." The male replied truthfully, his voice intertwined with slight hope and optimism. He learnt things everyday, no matter the challenges or anything that stood in his way. There was no hurtle he couldn't jump and no mountain that he could not conquer. With his mind set back to hunting mode, he thought of a spot that might be good for hunting. He didn't come here much, so it would be slightly new to him. Since he was probably far from a great hunter, he hoped they would be able to find and capture something before nightfall. Due to the slightly lowered vision in the darkness. "Tell me, Blitz." The Veter Began, his voice a low and deep rumble. "I've only seen small prey so far around here. Perhaps you think that we will be luckier today?" The elderly wolf's voice kept its depth as he continued. Blitz sure hoped that luck was in their side, for both their sakes. If it wasn't, well, they would just have to make do with what luck they had. "Hope so." His voice was a low whisper, placing it in a gap of Veter's speech. "But I am but an old wolf, I do not have in me the same speed that you have, my friend." Friend... He liked the sound of that. "But do not worry, I'll stay close if needed." He nodded at him. "Ok then," The orange male began. "Follow me and try to be as quiet as possible, I think I know a good spot."

Veter laughed softly upon seeing that Blitz listened to his advice. Well it was only a simple one, it was nice to know that he took that one advice rather than just brushing it off and not caring about it. At least, he did looked like he listened to his advice. The elder never considered himself to be very wise. Sure, he seen stuff, maybe more than the younger wolf but he knew enough to not call himself wise. Still, it was always pleasant when someone else calls him that way. He was also pleased to hear that Blitz agreed to his words on how everyone has something to learn from others. It was always good when two would think alike. Even if he just met him, the older wolf felt that he could put his trust in him. He was ready to listen and seemed to pretty much be on the same line than the elder. Maybe it was because he stayed alone for so long that he forgot what it was to be with another lone wolf, pretty much like he was. The older wolf then felt a slight breeze passing through his fur. It wasn't really a pleasant one to be honest. While it was not aggressive or anything, perhaps annoying would be a better term. Closing his eyes for a moment, Veter shivered a bit as the breeze pass him by. This alone was enough to them him to not stay standing for too long. Yes, moving would do him good. And something to eat as well. Shaking his body once more to generate a bit of heat, Veter was now truly ready to go hutning with Blitz, the more energetic of the two. He made his way to be side by side with heavy movements but it got lighter as he got closer to him. The layer of snow wasn't really helping him but he was lucky to be tall enough to not be bothered too much bit it. Again, the word annoying came to mind. "Very well, lead the way." He simply said as he began following him slightly behind him while still being next to him. Doing his best to stay as quiet as he could. Veter kept looking around to see if there were anything to hunt. The sea of white snow wasn't as blinding at it would be under direct sunlight but it was kind of depressing seeing only that color. White, such a sad color. At least, to him it was a sad one. He much preferred seeing green all over the place, especially under moonlight or the soft glimmer of the stars. It was much better for his old eyes as well. But he wasn't going to complain right now, he knew that he had to be silent for a bit. Or at least try to. It didn't take long for the duo to see some footprints in the snow that was proof of recent activity. It wasn't the one of a rabbit, but of a ungulate. And judging from the traces in the snow, it was limping. Or at least one side had the footprints closer and more erratic than the other betraying something that could be limping. They were getting closer. Looking at Blitz for a moment, the elder moved his head higher to see father away and also scent the familiar smell of blood. Squinting in a effort to focus his view to the farthest he could, a silhouette could be seen. It was a small deer? One thing for sure, he was wounded as he was just lying on his side on the snow maybe about fifty meters away, more or less. Now came the time to make sure than there weren't any other wolves around. He wouldn't want to steal the hunting prize of a pack or the such. But if it was left to die, then it would be the perfect occasion to grab an easy meal. Motioning to his partner with his muzzle, Veter lifted his head even more to make sure that they were very well alone. Nothing on the right, nothing on the left. Now that was real luck there. All they had to do was now to strike. But even a wounded deer could do a lot of harm with his hooves. Getting too cocky would be a bad move. They didn't really needed speed on that one. They could take their time to flank the poor prey and hopefully, end his life. "I can see a deer." The older wolf whispered. "It might be hurt and alone but let's take caution." But he was sure that Blitz already knew that. "I do not see any place for us to corner it, so we might need to flank him while he is still on the ground. Perhaps you could go on the other side?" Veter asked knowing that Blitz had much more stamina than he does. The orange male could get there quicker and have a head start if that deer would to try to escape. "One thing for sure, we can surely run farther than he can."🌅Phoenix🌅

Blitz: A cool breeze swept past him. Any scents that it had carried were no interest to the energetic male. At the moment, it was mostly just oddly pleasant breeze. It brought in the slightest warmth to his fur, but nothing that was considered noticeable. Veter, did his best to stay close to his side and matched his pace with a combination of heavy and light steps. Right now, all he was worried about was keeping Veter in his sight, he would worry about the hunt when the time came. Unlike himself, the elderly wolf seemed to find the breeze uncomfortable, or maybe annoying. He could see why, the elder was unlike himself, they agreed on many things but when it came to the fine details, Veter was quite different. Blitz's steps were cautious and light in the snow. He could feel the cold seeing into his pads. Not that he minded, he loved anything that was wet or water related. They continued on at a causal pace, he made sure to not to get too ahead of his companion. The male glanced back at the Elder and found that he was shaking his coat to gain warmth. Well, that was his best guess anyway. Veter's fur seems to have a strange glimmer as half-melted snow clung to his fur. It was almost like they were precious crystals, just lying there atop his body. With a swift change of pace he slowed, allowing the Elder to catch up. So far, his companion had stayed fairly quiet. It made him happy to see that he had listened to the advice. And for a wolf his age he did quite an amazing job at keeping up.
The sky was still overtaken by grey clouds, not a slight part of sunshine peeked through. For the elderly wolf's sake, he hoped it wouldn't rain. As much as he enjoyed it himself, he wasn't so confident that Veter would. Plus, the snow was already a pain as it was for hunting, any rain and it would just make their simple lives more difficult. His eyes drifted away from the sky and instead focused directly in front of him. The male squinted at the snow and tried to make out any irregularities that may lay on the horizon. As of yet, there was nothing, just the plain white of snow. With light but slow steps, Blitz continued to lead the elder along. His ears twitched in sync with his nose as he attempted to sniff out prey. The male continued this for a long while and dipped into his fantasies once again. In his imagination, he saw Veter and himself strike an easy meal. A home of sleeping rabbits. He then saw the elderly wolf swiftly finish one of the small creature's lives. And saw himself doing the same. He blinked out the thought of an easy meal and set his mind to the task ahead. Hunting. The male lowered his sleek build closer to the cool snow. The ends of his fur brushing against the thick layer of white. He hovered his nose just above the snow cover and searched for a scent trail. His emerald orbs darted back and forth and searched for a sign of animal tracks. This time, Blitz was in luck. A fresh, but uneven trail of prints sat deep in the snow.
Blitz investigated them, they seemed to be deer, not rabbit like when he had first to Amoux Creek. "I see a deer." Veter whispered next to him. That had to confirm it. The male simply nodded, trying to minimise the sound the pair were making. He looked just ahead and sighted a silhouette of a deer, a familiar scent of blood clung to the air. It must be bleeding. The male automatically thought. The odd shape of the print made sense now, it must of been so injured, that it had to walk in an odd fashion, maybe limp."It might be hurt and alone but let's take caution." Veter told him, which he already knew. Though, it was still a handy reminder. "I do not see any place for us to corner it, so we might need to flank him while he is still on the ground. Perhaps you could go on the other side?" Veter suggested, motioning toward the injured animal. It made sense, the bright coated male contained more stanima than the older wolf and he could also give chase if he really needed. "One thing for sure, we can surely run farther than he can." The elder stated. Yes, it was certain that they could sprint for longer than any wounded animal could. The male began to flank the deer on one side and signalled for Veter to do the same on the opposite side. This, was going to be fun.

Veter took time to study the wide scenery of white snow to see if there were anything else of interest before going after the deer. He really wanted to make sure that it wasn't the prey of another pack. He doubted that they would have let it breathing though. If anything, they would have killed it and maybe come back later to eat it. But leaving a prey alive, even if bloodied, wasn't that common as far as he knew. Maybe a lone wolf tried to hunt it but failed and had to back away. It could be possible that the previous hunter got injured by those hooves and had to go tend to its wounds. In any case, this one was now their prey. Another soft gust of wind made the snow dance in the air, this time carrying the scent of blood toward the wolves. That alone maybe the heart of the old Veter beat faster and also made him hungrier. Soon, both wolves would have something to eat and mostly likely more than enough. The elder let Blitz move away from him and toward one side of the injured deer. While they were pretty silent, it didn't take a lot for the prey to take notice of the hunters. Unfortunately for it, the poor deer couldn't do much about it as both hunters began flanking it. Veter began inching closer and closer while keeping his eyes riveted on his prey. Alerted, The deer tried to stand up and did his best to get away from the two. It was time to hunt. Veter gave chase on his side moving in parallel to the deer. He could see that the poor animal was struggling to just move around yet alone run away. Sooner or later, it will run out of stamina and Veter was very patient. As he saw the deer move slower and slower, the wolf with silver markings began making his way closer to it. The prey tried to get away from the elder but there were Blitz on the other side. Flanked on both side, the animal fell on the snow due to his limping leg and was now at the mercy of the wolves. The chase was over. A trail of blood behind the poor animal could be seen contrasting the white snow. Still cautious that the deer could still try to kick them away, Veter started slowly moving toward it. It wasn't a long chase but with the cold air hitting his face, it did seemed to be longer than it really was. Taking deep breaths, the male stood still and stopped moving few meters away from the soon to be dead animal and waited for his partner to come closer as well. Looking around to see if the scent might have attracted more people, Veter moved his head on each sides and saw nothing. Or maybe his eyes weren't good enough now that he was older. He couldn't smell anything else too so maybe they were really alone. But then, even if there were other wolves around, he would be most likely willing to share, especially if it was another lone wolf. After few seconds of looking around him, he just presumed that there weren't any unwanted visitors. Perfect, more food for them, even if there were plenty meat on that soon to be dead animal. The elder began circling the ungulate waiting for it to get tired of just kicking the air. There were no need to strike right away. Veter was still moving in a large circle around it with his eyes on the prey. He then looked away to see if Blitz also went closer to him. "Poor beast." He simply said while stepping heavily into the white snow around him. "It had no chance at all." But he didn't really felt bad, a meal was a meal. Maybe Blitz could do the honor and end his suffering. "You can finish it, Blitz." He then said as he stopped moving again. To be fair, he could do it himself but maybe the younger wolf would like to do it. His heartbeat was getting more stable now that the hunt was over but again, the scent of blood was stronger now that they were pretty much right next to it. He would wait for Blitz to give the finishing bite before getting closer. And now came the time to finally eat. After making sure that the deer was indeed dead, Veter would then go toward the dead animal and wait for Blitz to pick which part of it he wanted. The elder would just pick whatever part not chosen by Blitz. "Well done, Blitz, well done." He said while nodding to him. "Luck is definitively on our side today, let's make the most of it by eating."🌅Phoenix🌅

Blitz: As Veter approached the limping creature and flanked it's opposite side, the male instantly knew this was the end of the helpless deer's life. There was no where to run and no where to hide the only way out was death. Which was of course, something no one really wanted to be their only choice. The ungulate limped along, drawing out its own demise. A track of fresh blood trailing behind it. Luck was surely on their side today, what would be luckier than a free meal? Then the thought came to him, how did they become injured in the first place? It could of been anything really, Amoux Creek was a fair way from any packs, so the land could not be owned by any. But many wolves undoubtedly had traveled through the area, along with other dangers to the animal. Maybe they had somehow got themselves injured while they escaped the rushing river? He shook away the possibilities and focused on the only important thing. The one thing they had both agreed to participate in. Hunting. The hazel eyes of the deer were wild and crazy. Distressed and fearful for the next move that the pair would make. It had a good reason to be, after all they had the upper hand and there was no way to get out of this mess. The soft gust of wind brushed past his face and brought the already strong scent of blood even more apparent. His jaw dripped with drool and he licked his lips. As much as he wanted to just charge in now and end the life of the almost defenceless creature, he knew he would have to wait till the time was right. Then, he could dig in.
Although he wasn't a blood-thirsty type, the scent of prey made him slobber endlessly. The creature swayed slightly, almost about to faint from blood loss. With another sweep of his tongue, he grinned. It was almost time. He patiently waited out the short and simple hunt. He made a move, moving in just slightly, but noticeably closer to the dying animal. Its movements began slow even more. Slower. Slower. Slower. Then, with a final helpless sound of defeat, it collapsed into a heap. Blood pooled around it, the crimson colour was a welcome sight compared to the bleak, ever falling snow. A grin of pleasure spread across his features, his larger fangs over lapping others. The silver elder began to circle the almost, if not dead ungulate. The young male followed in a wide arc of his own. Even if it could no longer run or even limp along, it could still kick its own dangerous legs in the air. But even so, they would begin to tire, far before the wolf pair would beg for mercy. It kicked, just as the male had predicted and probably Veter too. It could fight, wrestle and cling to the remaining string of life all it wanted, they weren't going anywhere. The elderly wolf's steps were heavier now, obviously making the point that there wasn't much need for silence anymore.
"Poor beast." Veter had said. The male let a chuckle roll off of his tongue. Poor beast? Ha, more like lucky us! Blitz's thoughts were joyful. It had no chance at all." He dipped his head and murmured. "That's for sure." He glanced over at the presumably dead beast, their eyes were closed and its blood glimmered in the faint sunlight. Yep, it definitely fainted.. What a great meal to end the day on! Veter stoped moving before saying, "You can finish it, Blitz." The male's emerald orbs glowed, proud and glad to do the honours of taking the ungulate's life. With a swift leap and a hard bite, it was gone. Never to be seen alive again. As the bite sunk in, Veter approached, nodded and congratulated him on the finishing blow. "Your help was much appreciated." The male replied truthfully and took a few pieces from the deceased animal. He nudged a few of the best parts toward the elderly wolf and welcoming him to enjoy the meal with him. "Equal work, equal share."

Veter bowed slightly to the other wolf as he nudged the piece of meat toward him. "It is appreciated." He said before taking a small bite. The taste of fresh meat was very pleasant, it couldn't be any fresher than that. With the crimson blood dripping off his jaw and into the white snow, the elder was very happy right now. He went to take another bite, this time bigger than the first one. Sinking his strong teeth into the flesh, the old wolf had to shake his head around to pull the meat off the bone sending droplets of blood everywhere. He quickly realized that maybe he splashed Blitz while doing so. Raising his head as fast as possible to take a look at his hunting partner with still a piece of meat between his fangs, Veter quickly apologized. "Did I coat you in blood?" He asked while chewing. "If so, I do apologized."After taking apart the meat from the bone, Veter sat down and went to enjoy his meal. "I do believe that this is one of the easiest hunt." They barely did anything but to flank the poor deer until it ran out of stamina. And it didn't even take that long. The elder was about to say something when the roar of thunder was heard. Veter instinctively looked up and squinted his eyes for a moment. The clouds were starting to look darker and heavier. A thunderstorm might come sooner or later. Or worse, a snowstorm. The old wolf knew that they still had maybe a hour or two before the elements goes wild on them but they should hurry just in case. "I can see a storm coming, Blitz." The wolf said as he stood up. "Let's eat and start moving." After saying that, he went to rip another piece of the deer and start gnawing on it. "I do not think that we should try to carry some with us." He then said between two bites. "Eat what you can and we should leave the rest here."It wasn't like they could eat the whole thing anyway. Looking up at the clouds once more, the wolf saw the clouds slowly moving for now. However, he did know that mother nature could a harsh one. The weather was hard to predict, especially in winter time. While they could get to shelter before the storm, Veter had to admit that he had no idea where to find shelter to begin with. At least not around here, it wasn't very a familiar ground for him. Perhaps Blitz would be a better guide. He would wait for Blitz to enjoy his meal first. "Take your time, Blitz. We still have some before the storm." Or at least that is what he could predict but he was no sage or anything. He too then went to rip the bone clean of his meat before swallowing. After that, Veter would keep an eye to the sky hoping that it would give him a clue on what was going to happen next. He saw those kind of clouds before and it wasn't good news. At summer, it would be rain but in winter? The worst would be freezing rain. The kind that sticks to your fur for a long while. And he knew that once it would start, they wouldn't be able to run faster than the elements. It wasn't a race that they could win. The best plan would be to find shelter before the clouds starts unleashing whatever they had to unleash. And then, another roaring of thunder could be heard. The older wolf closed his eyes for a moment upon hearing the loud sound before opening them again. He sighed at the sight of the grey clouds and looked around for few seconds. "Blitz, tell me. Do you happen to know your way around here?" He asked without looking at the other male. "I would rather like to find some place safe before the storm. I cannot be sure if there will be a storm but I would rather not take any chances." And then he shook his whole body and stretched his legs one at a time. "I will let you lead the way once more, friend." And with that, the wolf was now ready to move again. 🌅Phoenix🌅

Blitz: The male begun to dig into his share of meat, ripping it violently off the bone with his sharp fangs. With the taste of fresh meat between his jaws, he had already started to feel replenished. Blood oozed from the meat and dripped down his maw, staining the white snow until it was unrecognisable. The smell of it made him tingle with excitement, the meal was quite an easy but enjoyable one. He continued to chew at it and swallowed a few pieces before taking another large bite. The young male blinked slowly as he felt something touch his fur, something.... Wet. "Did I coat you in blood?" Veter quickly asked while eating his own portion of the meal. Huh, so that was what that was... The elder continued to say sorry to him. "If so, I do apologise." Blitz brushed it off with a light laugh. "All good, it is just a little blood after all." He continued to gnaw at the meat between his teeth and spat out an irritating bone beside himself. In all honesty, Blitz didn't want this spectacular meal to end. After all, he had great company and food all in the same place. "I do believe that this is one of the easiest hunt." Blitz simply nodded, his mouth too full to respond otherwise. The male continued shred the juicy meat as he swallowed each part with equal enjoyment. As the last part of his large portion disappeared into his stomach, he began to lick his lips clean of the crimson stain. A roar of thunder sounded as it made contact with earth. This had made him stop mid-lick for a second, before the male retracted his tongue.
"I can see a storm coming, Blitz." Veter warned him as the elderly wolf stood up. The wolf was quite right as he could hear the storm coming and also smell it. "Let's start moving." "Yeah, of course." The younger male agreed, it was time to leave. He stood also and headed toward the dead ungulate and wrestled the meat off the bone, taking one last piece for himself. Blitz nibbled at it and listened to Veter's next words. "Eat what you can and we should leave the rest here." He dipped his head in acknowledgement and continued to slowly chew at the food. It seemed like a little bit of a waste, but it was an easy kill and they were fed enough as it was. His ears twitched as the sky rumbled with growling thunder. Soon enough, a storm or at least heavy rainfall would be upon them if they didn't move from where they currently stood. They would probably be battered and torn from the harshness of Mother Nature and at her mercy. He tried not to think about it that way, the orange coated male thought that the elderly wolf and himself would be able to easily look after themselves.
Blitz shook his bloodied coat, being careful to not spray any on Veter. "Take your time, Blitz. We still have some before the storm." He wasn't in any particular hurry to run from the elements, but he would rather have the elder safe inside a shelter of some sort. "I am in no rush. But I would like to see you safe, Veter." He replied calmly, taking his friend's needs into consideration. Blitz then noticed that he too, was considering Veter as a friend and that he also trusted him. The male started to much on the chunk of food he had claimed earlier, almost devouring it whole. He was only the slightest bit worried for the elderly wolf's welfare. After all, he was older and as mentioned earlier, not as fast or fit as he used to be. He glanced over at Veter, checking out what he was doing. The wolf seemed to be keeping a keen eye on the sky, most likely trying to find out the severity of whatever nature had to unleah. Blitz was grateful to have such a delightful companion by his side, he would rather not make enemies with anyone. He almost jumped when another rumble of thunder rolled in, even more audible this time. The wolf heard Veter sigh beside him. "Blitz, tell me. Do you happen to know your way around here?" He shot him an apologetic half-smile. "Well... Sort of." "I would rather like to find some place safe before the storm. I cannot be sure if there will be a storm but I would rather not take any chances." Blitz nodded. "I too, would not like to take any chances for your sake. Unfortunately, I am not exactly a what you would call a expert." His expression was sheepish but he tried to be as confident as possible. "I will let you lead the way once more, friend." Veter once again addressed him as friend. The wolf squinted at a copse and headed forward, hoping for luck to strike again.

Veter was somehow amused after hearing that Blitz wanted him to be safe. To be fair, he was older and maybe not as strong as the other wolf but he shouldn't be trying to find shelter just for the elder. If anything, he should find shelter for himself as well. After all, a snowstorm, or whatever that was going to fall on the creek, wasn't going to just fall on the older wolf, Mother Nature wasn't a very selective mistress. The elder just smiled and didn't said that he should take care of himself as well, if he finds shelter for him, Blitz would also have shelter. Unless he was going to brave the elements after doing so. Which might not be the wisest stunt to do.
In his many years of being alive, Veter saw a lot of storms of all kind. Heavy rain, blizzard, lightning storm and any of those combined. But he knew that the worse were always in winter. And right now, it was looking pretty bad. The clouds were getting dark and shaped like an anvil, the kind of clouds that people hate to be under. Looking behind him one more time to see if the sky was going to fall on them anytime soon, Veter sighed and followed the younger wolf toward the copse.
As they got closer and closer, Veter could smell the storm coming. It had a distinct smell to it, a smell that was hard to forget. "We should try to find a burrow, being too close to the trees will only make it more dangerous." The elder said to his new friend. He wasn't sure if Blitz knew about that but it was good to remind him just in case. The male would stop from times on times to look at the sky as they got closer to the small bunch of trees. The sounds of distant thundering was getting louder. He wasn't very keen on getting to close to that small copse but maybe Blitz knew a burrow close by, he was going to trust him on this one.
The elder was now walking slightly faster trying to keep on with the younger wolf. While there weren't urgency, Veter didn't like being the one slowing down the group. His stomach was full from the meal and he was feeling kind of heavy right now, maybe he should have taken the time to digest a bit. Well, too late now. None the less, he was trying his best to be just few feet behind the younger wolf. Which wasn't that hard but moving in the snow wasn't helping even if there weren't a thick layer. Just enough to make it annoying. "Do not worry about me." The wolf then said after he stopped for a second to look behind. "I am right behind you." The grey clouds were starting to take that shape of thunderclouds. While lightning were rarer on winter, it seemed that they were going to get unlucky. Snow was already bad by itself, add lighting into that mix and you will scare a lot of wolves, including the elder.
Looking behind him was something Veter did a lot. Call it what you want, maybe it was just nervousness or maybe it was just in his nature. He just couldn't not do it. In fact, he would look a the sky every time he heard thunder. He would try to calculate on how fast the clouds were moving from the last time he looked behind him. While it wasn't getting any better, it wasn't getting worse neither. Stable could be a good word here. But stable didn't meant good, it just meant that they still had a bit of time before it all goes berserk.
"We should not stay in that copse for too long unless you know a place to hide from the elements." Veter reminded him in case he didn't know. "If we cannot find any kind of shelter, we should keep a good distance between us." And he paused to look at the sky once more. "Less chances for us both to get struck by lighting that way." But that was only going to be nessacary if they really can't find anything.

Blitz: A keen eye was kept on the sky as the thunder rumbled and the clouds thinkened in a blanket of slate grey. It was definitely not far from a storm, or whatever Mother Nature had decided to pelt against the earth. Yes, he did like rain but that didn't mean he wanted to get struck down by lightning or be murdered in a savage storm. In the corner of his right eye, he saw Veter as he trailed just behind him. Blitz had to admit, he was doing quite well at keeping up to him, considering he was an elder. It quite interesting to see for himself, actually. He purposely slowed his pace just slightly to give the elderly wolf a chance to catch up to him. His faint golden eyes were concentrated in thought and a smile sat on his face. It was good to see him smile, it lit up his face in ways he never knew were possible. The male would even go as far as saying it made him look younger. Veter's fur blew on his heavy frame in the harsh wind of the coming winter storm, no doubt his fur had blown wildly too.
The young male was a little more unfamiliar with the creek than many other places in the valley, which was different to what he was used to. He was used to knowing the best hiding places, the nooks and crannies of each area that made them special, but here, he only knew what was plainly in sight. It was far from worrying to him, it just made this accompanied experience more thrilling. They were close to the copse now, very close, actually. The male practically stood in front of it. "We should try to find a burrow, being too close to the trees will only make it more dangerous." Veter mentioned to him. It was good to know, since it had been a while since the last storm he had been in. A handy reminder that he still had a lot to learn. "Right." His voice was plain in agreement, he didn't look back at his friend when he answered. Just another reason he liked Veter, he full of handy advice and little tips that made the journey just that bit easier. In general, one of the best companions to have travelling with him. He could tell that even though he was young, the wise elder still put trust in him. Because that was what friends did, right? They trusted and laughed with each other and liked being in each other's company. Well this is what he imagined a friendship to be like. It wasn't that he wasn't rude or plain mean, it was the fact that he just hadn't met many wolves in the valley.
With the thought of friendship aside, he focused on what was up ahead. Most obviously, trees, but something even better than that lay just in front of his paws. A burrow. Sharpened spear-like teeth sat at the mouth of it and overhung the entrance that could fit two large built wolves, side by side. It was widely carved, the walls were bare and rougly shapen, the floor was layer with a blanket of olive moss. The ground above the cave was slightly raised and sprinkled in snow where the vaulted roof of the den was at its highest peak. He glanced behind him to see if Veter was still nearby, he luckily still was. "Do not worry about me." The elderly male had stopped sand his head flicked to look just behind him. "I am right behind you." He nodded and took a few steps closer to the carved den. Blitz sniffed the air around it and stuck his nose just inside, but it carried no scent, only a stale, long past, one of something. It was too old to define what it was. The young male almost jumped at the sound of the nets rumble of thunder as it almost had the force to shake the earth beneath his own four paws.
"We should not stay in that copse for too long unless you know a place to hide from the elements." Veter mentioned once again, another small reminder. "If we cannot find any kind of shelter, we should keep a good distance between us." This was on the not-so-bright-side, the option of worse came to worse. He really hoped this didn't have to happen, for both their sakes. "Less chances for us both to get struck by lighting that way." It was a sad truth, but he was confident that this spacious burrow should do the job of a good shelter. "Lucky for us, I have found quite the place." With a bright smile he stepped to the side and let the den come into view. "Come on through, I am sure we can get through whatever Mother Nature would like to throw at us."
