Amora:
"I don't know!" Jakey had quite a set of lungs in him and gladly proclaimed that he had no idea where his parent was. Amora could have smacked herself. Why?? She supposed his excitement was better than anxiety and bawling his eyes out for being lost, but it was still a reaction she didn't appreciate.
He did recall, however that they were camping at a large tree with carvings on it beginning with the "Aaie" sound. Any idiot in the valley would recognize that description, the Aodette tree! She almost started praising White Magic right there, the Aodette tree wasn't far! Only an hour or two to sprint there - Jakey's legs were shorter but she would drag him there by his tail if she had to. With that matter settled, she turned her attention back to Epicenter, as it was due him. ...Her good friend Epicenter...she was going to miss him. But they'd at least have one more run together, the Aodette tree was on the way to Wildflower Clearing, and if a new pack was being birthed there, a neutral pack of all things, it mightn't be a bad idea to make friendly with the neighbors and begin diplomatic relations immediately: especially if it meant Epicenter might come around again.
"And there's nothing I could say that would convince you to stay?" Amora asked - "You've been good for the pack - or at least for me, it's been nice having you around. You're sure you want to leave?" The choice was still up to him, but she didn't want to close the door right away, not if she had any chance of keeping him close by. And yet...she'd heard of pups who caught mice or birds and teased them without killing them until they stopped trying to escape, anticipating they'd only be caught and batted again. They typically died from loneliness or sadness after that for they were as free and wild as wolves, they too needed space to roam and a chance to grow and adventure and potentially change. It wouldn't be fair to keep Epicenter from a new adventure, but she could at least try to see if he might be content where he was.
Jakey piped up again. He wanted to make friends and asked her name. She turned back around to the insolent youngster. "That is not important. My friend and I are going to take you back to your big tree and your mother. Okay?"
