America
The sun penetrated her fur and made her extremely tired, but she waddled on. Yes, waddled was the word. Her large stomach didn't allow much more than that. The one-night-stand with Bane had been much more than that. In the morning of that day, America had found herself lying in the den alone. She thought maybe he had left to get water or food, but she waited a week and he didn't come. No one did. That was also around the time she gained weight. She didn't know what was going on. She was alone and scared. She discovered that her sudden weight gain was because she was pregnant. Then she cried and cried. The pain of being abandoned by Bane was crushed by the pain of having his pups. He had deceived her, and it hurt.
As the pregnancy got farther along, she came to love the idea of puppies. She would no longer be alone in the world and these creatures inside her were a part of her. Names for puppies floated in her head. Only thoughts and emotions for her puppies kept her from going insane with heartbreak. She kept pushing on.
Now the puppies were soon to be due and America needed a den. She had chosen Kai Lake because it was a good water source. As she walked around to search for a den, a shot of pain knocked her off her feet. The puppies were coming. She scanned the area. A small cave was made inside of a large rock wall that must lead to the falls. America used all of her strength to lift herself up and slowly make her way to her new den.
The convulsions got faster and more painful. That whole day and night were filled with pain and crying. Most of the birth was a blur and afterwards America passed out from exhaustion.
The next morning America slowly opened her weak eyes. Three puppies lay nestled against her stomach. She sighed. They were gorgeous and worth the painful experience. Two were males and one was a female. One male was black and blue, while the other was blue with white and red, including a white star on his forehead. The female was the smallest and she was black and silver. These pups were her new life. She would live only for them.
America realized her fatigue and got up quietly. None of the pups moved. She went to the lakeside and drank, but she didn't have enough energy to hunt so she collected nearby berries and reentered the den. Nothing was disturbed. She lay down and curled her body around the small pups. Next, she slept.
