Lost in a world of darkness

Trick padded around for what had seemed like hours upon hours by himself. After awhile he sighed contently and slumped himself down into a seated position. "Well. I'm lost." he said, sighing again as he sniffed through the air once again, he scented a faint smell, not of his own, but he thought it might be a good place to start in order to get himself to his small cave hidden somewhere in the mountains, or to at least some shelter. The blind wolf picked himself back up and followed the scent of the other wolves, making his way to what he assumed was the border of a territory, based on the scent. The young wolf's ears laid back against his head as he hesitantly crossed the border into the Honovi pack's land. "Hello!?" he called out loudly, wondering if anyone could hear. "I-Is anyone out there?!" he called again, his ears perking up once again to listen for the sound of a voice or paw steps around him.

A handsome cream and black colored wolf trotted towards the border on tall, brown legs. He had been on border patrol only a few yards away when he heard a howl summoning him so he'd made his way over as quickly as possible. His yellow eyes scanned the border and he scented the air and saw the newcomer. Always happy to meet prospective pack members, Cameo padded towards the male. "Greetings. My name is Cameo, beta of the Honovi pack. You've reached our borders, how can I assist you?" Cameo held his tail high to keep his stance authoritative but also smiled to show he was friendly.

The young adult heard the paw steps, thumping to his ear drums as the other wolf approached him. His head snapped to face Cameo, although it was a little off, looking slightly to the right of where Cameo would be. Trick's eyes appeared lifeless and without meaning, just two soulless orbs that were there for show, serving the young male no purpose. "Nice to meet you.." Trick spoke quietly, his eyes beginning to focus better on Cameo, as if they were trying to fake that they could see the beta. "I-I'm just lost is all.. I've been wandering around for hours and I think I'm lost.. I claimed a small little cave somewhere.. But I can't find it now.." he said, lowering his head slightly, his gray orbs looking to the ground now, his ears facing Cameo rather than his nose and eyes. His bright snowy pelt shifted around with every small gust of wind, blowing parts of it this way and that, while tighter bunches stayed close to his skin.

Cameo beheld the wolf in front of him, he seemed to be the exact color of snow and his whiteness was almost surprising. However it wasn't the wolf's eyes that seemed off to Cameo but the wolf's eyes. He didn't mean to be rude, but Cameo squinted at the male's eyes and noticed they looked glassy...was he blind? Cameo couldn't be exactly sure but he assumed it to be true because the wolf never looked directly at him. Cameo did not pity the wolf as he was sure his sense of smell was still in tact and that was what was most important to wolves; without it they would surely perish.

Cameo wagged his black and gray speckled tail anyway and listened to what he said. "I understand, the mountain has a way of getting wolves turned around." Cameo chuckled. It only took a few seasons of living on the mountain before one began to feel the presence of an ancient magic. "It is getting dark and the Heathlands can prove troublesome if you can't..." Cameo didn't know if he should say "see" "..find your way around. You are welcome to stay in our densite for the time being. If you're interested, you may become a part of our pack as well. If you would like to join the Honovi simply say so and tell me your name." Cameo smiled again even though he knew the male couldn't see him.

Trick lifted his head back up, his blank eyes staring once again at Cameo's face, somewhere around his muzzle. Listening to him as he spoke, one ear pointed towards him, while the other was either facing back, or off to the side, as if listening for other noises around him. The attentive wolf thought it over for a moment as Cameo finished his words. "I suppose.. Even if I don't join, which I'm still not sure yet, I still need to tell you my name.. It'd be rude not to.." the wolf said to Cameo as he snapped his head to a branch snapping in half somewhere. Slowly, his head turned back to Cameo, "I don't know my true name.. But I like to be called Trick.." Trick added as his head focused back onto Cameo's.

The sun continued to set down, darkness beginning to make its descent around the wolves. Though Trick couldn't tell if it was night or day, he could tell the change in temperature must have meant it was getting closer and closer to nightfall. "Thank you for offering me to stay at your densite.. I owe you.. C-Cameo was it?" he asked, saying the other wolf's name quietly, afraid to offend him by asking.

Cameo listened with his brown ears pricked forward as the wolf spoke. So his name was Trick, that was good to know. Cameo wondered if Treason would approve of his allowing an outsider to stay in the densite overnight. He figured that if she questioned his choice, he would explain his reasoning but for now, it was of no concern. "It is good to meet you Trick." Cameo said with a small bow, more as a formality than anything.

"You are welcome to stay for now, but if you do choose not to join us I have to ask that you leave tomorrow by nightfall. I only say this because I have to be sure my pack stays safe. Yes, my name is Cameo." he said, confirming Trick's question. "I am currently on border patrol so I can't take you to the densite directly but if you follow the scent you'll find it. No one should bother you there and we have plenty of open dens." Cameo wasn't sure if it was appropriate but he decided to rub his shoulder up against Trick both to let him know he was there and also to rub off some of the Honovi's scent on him. Due to his new friend's blindness, he wanted to be able to make a connection with the wolf. "I have to be going now, duty calls for border patrol." and with that Cameo trotted away.
