Pumpkin
Amoux Creek now behind him, the white and orange puppy could get a good look at the forests. The red trees towered and the underbrush was scarce. This must mean that these are the Redwoods. What an interesting place, he thought. Pumpkin paused before entering the woods and scanned the forest edge. It didn't look like there was anything suspicious, but something felt off. Shaking his head, he let thoughts of sneak attacks and such fall from his mind. At the moment, he was looking for a good place to sleep. Practicing his new power all day had made him very tired. The puppy yawned.
Pumpkin heard a growl from a very close range. Was something or someone out there? He moved his head to try and see through the trees but it was too dark. He heard the sound again and almost jumped out of his fur. Pumpkin stifled a laugh. This growl was no enemy, but his stomach! He was in tears trying to hold back from bursting into laughter.
Once his amusement died, he realized how hungry he was. He could hunt, but he was really tired. Concluding that he'd rather get sleep and go hungry than try to hunt when he was this tired, he set off to find a den for the night. Scanning the area, he saw some blueberries on a bush. Perfect!! He ate a few of those while staining his white paws and muzzle a dull blue. Tomorrow he would clean himself in the creek. Pumpkin spotted a hollow in a tree and about yipped with happiness. Sleep! He jumped into the tree and it was just big enough for him to fit comfortably. What a coincidence! And that was his last thought before visiting his dream world.
