Speaking with the Newcomer

The orange wolf loped easily through the deep, powdery snow. Finally she came to what she deemed a good stopping point and sat down a moment to catch her breath. Once she had composed herself she turned to look at the newcomer that she had asked to follow her to their current location. They still weren't a long distance away from the gathering of the pack but by being this far away it would be easier to talk and Kivah wouldn't have to shout to be heard over the boisterous packmembers. "Now then, where were we? Oh yes, you, Shiver, have come to the borders of Rising Sol to speak to me, Kivah, the Alphess. What is it that I can help you with?" Kivah looked expectantly at her acquaintance.

I dip my head and spoke. "i have come far to see you. I would like the honor of joining your pack." I lower my tail, i cant let my pride get in the way of this important meeting. I prick my ears for her answer. if I was accepted, I would probaly start as the Omega. I would have to get used to being humble.

Sonora had traveled a long distance to reach this territory, a sheltered spot nestled in the bosom of the mountains. Here the tall trees had mostly prevented the season's snow from falling to the ground, instead catching it in their tall branches high above her head. She was glad she had come to this place in winter, for during the summer the underbrush would be thick with foliage and would block many paths that were open in the harsher season. It was peaceful here, and quiet; in some ways, the area reminded her of her birthplace, far away. Perhaps, if she was lucky, she would soon be able to call this place her new home.

The brown-furred she-wolf had been resting in an open spot where the snow had gathered deeply, which she could only hope was outside the border of the pack she knew to live here, for only a few minutes before two wolves came into view not far from her, one a very conspicuous orange color the likes of which Sonora had never seen before, and the other, nearly invisible by comparison, a light silver that closely matched its snowy surroundings.

Sonora stayed still and watched the two wolves, wondering if they would notice her, but clearly they didn't because they began to converse without acknowledging her at all. After a moment's hesitation, Sonora stood and started to walk deliberately toward them, picking up her paws high to clear the deep snow. As she neared the pair she caught the end of the silver wolf's sentence: ...honor of joining your pack. Sonora's ears perked up. Apparently she had stumbled upon an important figure of the resident pack, and the orange wolf was in the process of evaluating the silver one for admittance. What luck. "Forgive me for intruding," the she-wolf said as she approached. "Did I hear correctly, are you accepting new members to your pack?" She addressed the orange wolf, trying to keep her stance respectful, but not overly submissive. Submission was not something that came naturally to her.

Kivah nodded at Shiver as she spoke, she had assumed that was why Shiver had sought the pack out in the first place but sometimes you just never knew. The oragne she wolf was about to say something in response to Shiver's request when she heard a sound nearby in the snow. She looked over and was surprised to see another wolf approaching them, this one brown and cream in color. Rising Sol had just begun to settle and already there were new wolves asking to join up. It was better here than Kivah could have imagined. Her hackles raised in defense just in case the new wolf was hostile but she was not, and asked of Kivah what Shiver had asked - for acceptance into the pack.

Kivah nodded quickly to the new wolf to acknowledge she'd seen and heard her but turned back to Shiver to address her first. "I see. Well we here at Rising Sol accept those who are neutral in alliance. No wolf who primarily subscribes to either evil or good ways of life is allowed here. Only those who tread the line of balance can join with us. If you feel you fit this description, and you are indeed neutral, you are welcome here." Kivah then turned to the newcomer. "Yes, I am Alphess Kivah of the pack that has settled here. We're a neutral pack called Rising Sol. Are you seeking acceptance? If so I need to know if you are neutral and also what you're called" Kivah couldn't afford to have any evils joining in her pack or they may recognize her to be what she truly was and maybe even foil her plans. The orange she wolf looked expectantly at both Shiver and the newcomer.

I nodded my head and shuffled my paws. I prefer to do good, but in times like these I can't afford another rejection. " I am neutral." I say voice unwavering. I hope she did not hear the nervous tone in my voice. I stare her in the eyes. I flick my ears towards the cream wolf. I wait expectantly for her answer. I settle down in the snow, the coldness engulfed me. I lean into it. I look to my paws and realize they are invisible against the powder.

Sonora waited silently as the orange wolf spoke to the silver one, naming herself, her pack, and her alliance. At first she had found the whole good/neutral/evil system they had going in this valley to be pretty odd, but she had quickly accepted it as the way it was. When in Rome...

Sonora's tail wagged once as Kivah turned to address her. "Yes, I am of the neutral alliance," she said confidently, her lavender eyes intense with contained excitement. "My name is Sonora. All my life I have been trained in combat. As a warrior I assure you I would be nothing but an asset to your pack."

Kivah's sharp eyes caught the look of doubt and hesitation that had appeared, only for a second, on Shiver's face. It quickly faded and she stated she was neutral in a confident tone but the orange she wolf got a sense that she was lying or at least covering something up. "Hmm..." she murmered while gazing at the silver wolf with scrutinizing eyes. "If you are what you say to be, then you can join Rising Sol. However, if you are not neutral at heart I will have to ask you to leave...if you want to stay and are, indeed, of the proper alliance I would like to know what rank you wish to be given." Kivah still felt wrong about Shiver and her instincts warned her she could possibly be a spy but she didn't smell like any other wolf packs so Kivah dismissed the thought...at least for the time being.

The alphess turned back to Sonora as she spoke and smiled happily. The way Sonora spoke with confidence gave Kivah high hopes that she was definitely worthy of the pack, plus she was a warrior and Kivah had a feeling she wasn't lying about this. A trained combatant would certainly be an excellent addition to the pack. The orange she wolf wanted to discuss Sonora with Luzaro as soon as she got the chance since they would need a Gamma wolf soon to train and lead their warriors. "Well Sonora you sound quite confident in your abilities. You are welcomed to Rising Sol under the rank of warrior." Kivah nodded her head at the wolf in acceptance. "Please make yourself at home here. The rest of the pack is gathered not to far from here if you wish to meet with them or you can seek a den for yourself if you wish to meet them at another time." Kivah had a good feeling about Sonora and was happy to accept her into Rising Sol.

Once again she turned back to Shiver to show the silver wolf she now had Kivah's undivided attention. She blinked her eyes expectantly at the wolf, wondering if she would back out or join the pack.

ooc: Okay Forte, Sonora is officially a Rising Sol member with a warrior rank! Please post the update in the pinboard (I know you know but I'm going to make it a custom to post this reminder after every new member acceptance xD So expect to hear more of it)

Okay Shiver so we don't really allow a lot of inter-alliance membership here at WWM unless its plot based (which is why Kivah, who is evil, is the alphess of a neutral pack). So you have two options. You can either have Shiver join Rising Sol and post an update in the pinboard stating she is no longer Good, but now Neutral (you can still have her lean towards the good side of things but she has to officially be cataloged as neutral. In fact she may be a good fit with Rising Sol because they're neutral but their alliance is with a good pack) or you can have Shiver decline the offer to join and simply leave. If you wish to do that instead, there are two good packs currently at WWM called Eternal Snowfall and Eden and she'd be welcome at both places.

Ic: I immediately regretted my flash of doubt.. "I believe that I would be best as a hunter. I have learned new ways to hunt over my travels, I have learned much from different packs." My ice blue eyes bore into kiva's. this was true. I had learned much from the many packs of this land.

Sonora felt a flash of pride as Kivah spoke her acceptance. "Thank you, alphess!" she said with a wag of her tail, letting her happiness shine for once. "I promise I won't let you down." With a final bow of her head to her new leader, Sonora trotted off through the snow in the direction Kivah had indicated, toward where her new pack was gathered.

The silver shewolf held in a growl. Her little lie might have been, and still might be, her fatal flaw. Waiting for Kivah, She thought back to my lie. When Shiver had spoken the lie, Kivah's eyes had flashed with suspicion and.......worry. Shiver pushed that strange thought to the back of her mind to brood on later. She looked expectantly at Kivah.

Kivah watched with satisfaction as Sonora trotted away to explore who new living area. She then quickly turned her attention back to Shiver who was stating that she was neutral. She definitely seemed more confident now, and perhaps Kivah had judged too quickly or maybe Shiver had just been nervous about joining a pack. For now, the orange she wolf decided to give the newcomer the benefit of the doubt. "Our pack is small and, while growing, is in need of members. I shall accept you as a hunter among our ranks but know that I will be keeping an eye on you." Kivah didn't really mean to sound cryptic but she had to make sure that Shiver was loyal to the pack and not just some renegade who joined packs only to take advantage of their resources, or worse, to spy. "I welcome you to Rising Sol. Please make yourself at home anywhere you like. For now I shall be retiring to my den to rest but the other pack members are just a ways up the borders if you'd like to rejoin them. Either way, welcome to the pack Shiver." Kivah nodded at the silver wolf, hoping it was the right thing to do to let her join. She stiffly walked away towards the densite as her body was beginning to ache.
