Crushed Beneath our Paws

Indigo padded happily past the Beta and across the border into his new packs territory. He swiftly made his way to a large glade that was filled halfway with shimmering ice. He happily leaped onto it to see how thick the sheet was. The ice didn't creak or crack he was good to go! He slid across the surface with a happy bark. This would do wonderfully for a murder scene. He could lure someone her, crack the ice and stuff them through the hole and they wouldn't be found till spring!

He skidded across the ice joyfully, claws scraping gouges in the pristine sheen. He wondered why no one was around doing anything. He shrugged and sniffed the air for something to eat.

Tye

A black and blue form skirted through the trees on the ridge that surrounded the icy pool. The form was silent, almost as if it was merely a shadow. In some respects, this wolf was, indeed, a shadow to his pack mates. He was born into the Dark Donoma but he had learned from birth to avoid the wolves here. The young wolf didn't understand why yet, but he was always on edge around his alleged "family", always hiding in terror at the sight of blood. His father was the beta male Bane yet still his son did not feel safe in his own home. Many wolves around the area had taken to just ignoring him completely and he soon moved with ease around the territory without being noticed. Today seemed to be another one of those routine movements when a blue tipped ear flicked to the left to catch the sound of claws against ice and he stopped.

The youngster looked down from his hiding place among the trees to the pool of water that had gathered in the marshy grass from all the snow melt. Spring was almost here after all. He didn't recognize the wolf that had padded out onto the frozen water so he could only assume it was a relatively new pack member. The young wolf never had to worry about seeing complete strangers within his territory because no wolf was stupid enough to cross Dark Donoma's borders without permission. The wolf in the trees observed the wolf on the ice and remained silent for a time. Then he decided it was best not to meddle with other pack members and was about to be on his way when his foot hit a patch of ground that had crumbled from all the snow and tumbled down the ridge and out into the clearing in full few of the ice skater. The blue and black wolf was up on his paws in a flash before composing himself. There was no way to avoid it now, he'd have to interact with this wolf now. "Uh...hey." he started awkwardly, padding closer to the edge of the pool.

Indigo perked up as the wolf spoke. "Hello," this wolf looked young, and teachable in the ways of murder. "I'm Indigo, and who might you be?" He said slowly. His cunning eyes searched the wolf.

Tye

I looked at the wolf and cocked my head in slight confusion. Normally the wolves in this packs weren't this friendly but Ilana accepted all kinds as long as they vowed never to betray her. "I'm Tye. Good to meet ya, Indigo." I'm sure I sounded like I was mumbling but having such little interaction with the other pack members made me pretty rusty when it came to actually speaking. "So uh...you're new here then? What made you come to Dark Donoma?"

"Just lookin for a home..." He lied. He was here to find a place among murderers and tricksters like himself who enjoyed seeing pain. "How'd you get here young one?"

Tye

I narrowed my eyes, albeit unintentionally, and laughed a laugh with no humor in it. "I was born here." I said quietly, thinking about my lousy puphood. I was still young but the short time I'd been around, things hadn't gone well for me. "My father is Bane, the beta male but the beta female, Storm, is not my mother. I don't know who my mother is..." I trailed off, feeling the familiar emotions of anger and hatred fill my belly. I gulped in some cool, refreshing air to try and calm myself. "You look...well traveled." I said, turning my bright blue eyes back to Indigo. "Where exactly did you come from?" I asked with a hint of skepticism in my voice.

"I have traveled far from my homeland of Druydia." Indigo said smoothly. "I have come to this pack in search of wolves such as your pack."

Tye

I looked at the wolf before me and listened to what he said. It seemed he was simply repeating himself and throwing random bits of information together. I was not familiar with the land of Druyidia but, then again, I had never traveled outside the grasslands let alone the mountain valley. "Uh huh..." I said, giving Indigo a once over. "Well...are you any good at fighting?" I asked bluntly. It had been my experience that the older packmates were always happy to share tales of battles or even spar with me and I doubted this wolf was any different. I looked on at him curiously, my blue eyes glinting in the reflective sunlight.

"ahh.... i muat say i fight well enough to escape before my throat is slit.. but i do not fancy the fight as a sport." in fact he used it as a tool for destruction. But Indigo would not tell the youngster this, for he gave off the aura of a wolf who did not wish to become as the wolves in his pack.

I nodded lazily at Indigo's response. He definitely looked like a wolf that could fight and for a brief moment I considered instigating something but quickly squashed the thought. "Well I only ask because some of the wolves around here pick fights and its good to have your guard up." I looked up at the sky wondering, for the millionth time, why I was here. After a moment, I looked back at Indigo. "Do you...want to spar?" I didn't know why I even asked, he'd probably say no or worse, say yes and beat me within an inch of my life but I was bored and the only past time in Dark Donoma was fighting.

A sly grin slid across Indigo's face. "Only if you want to be beaten by a wolf who is becoming an elder. That would be embarrassing." He joked. He was very doubtful that he could beat this young wolf.
