Leif made his way through the forest, his tail swayed around behind him in an elated manner. The chartreuse and pink colored wolf was willing to join a pack, but was also unsure if he should join a pack. As he felt his urges come up on him, he quickly paused himself for a short break. In that break he left a stream of urine, right on Frigid Plague's border.
Normally, the wolf would've scented the border, but he was currently suffering from a cold, due to the rapid switch from Winter into Spring, it always messed with his sinuses. Ignorantly, he finished up and then started to walk along the edge of the border, crossing over it and then back over it repeatedly.

The springtime had finally come, and Perjury was glad to see the snow completely melted from her territory in less than a week's time. The thick canopy of branches provided by the redwoods did well in preventing much accumulation in the first place, and the warm air had come in early. Perjury had no particular fondness for snow, she would much rather see the soil.
Another thing she would much rather see was wolves respecting her border. Not like this oaf, whom she had spied while patrolling around the edges of the territory. On a normal day she might be more professional, immediately stating her name and title and demanding to know what he was doing intruding on her lands. But this wolf was clearly a buffoon who knew neither where he was nor what he had done. Proud though Perjury was of her pack's comparatively lofty morals, she would not deny herself or any evil the pleasure of a bit of fun.
"Well hello," she called out, trotting up to walk beside him as though she were just another average wolf out for a stroll in the forest. 'Chipper' was not something she could manage, but her voice was friendly. "Nice to see I'm not the only one enjoying a fresh spring morning."

Leif was padding around, almost like he was skipping in a way, enjoying his time as he walked. It wasn't long however as he heard a voice poke through. His pink nose turned to the alphess. "Why hello there, sweetheart!" he chimed out, smiling happily at her, padding his way over to the female. "I wouldn't say I'm.. Enjoying it. But it is nice to be out an about on such a lovely day.. Darn Spring time has my sniffer not working correctly.." he sighed softly. His voice was a bit high pitched for a male, but he seemed to have been used to it.
"Oh, pardon me, my name is Leif~" he said in a sing-song voice, smiling over at Perjury. "May I be blessed with such a pretty wolf's name?" he finished.

A stuffed up nose due to allergies, was it? Then it was no wonder he couldn't smell the scent marks all around him. Of course, that didn't absolve him of his transgression. It was his responsibility to know where the territories were, stuffed-up nose or not. Perjury would teach him a lesson. Hopefully one that he would be glad for, because he would survive to see his error, something that Illana almost certainly wouldn't have been so generous to allow, had these been her lands.
Perjury couldn't thank the Power enough that that wasn't the case. But she could take a terrible pleasure in this trap she was laying for him. "So wonderful to meet you, Leif," she said in response to his obvious flattery. Her voice was naturally deep in tone, something that aided her in commanding respect but didn't help her when she wasn't trying to sound...well, evil. "My name is Complicity, I noticed you taking a stroll and I just felt that I must make your acquaintance."
In an effort not to give away her alliance, the sweetness of her tone, the deepness of her voice, and her vague, implacable European accent combined to give her words a certain seductive quality that Perjury hadn't fully intended. Certain evils carried themselves in such a way at all times, in order to lower others' guards, but Perjury herself had always been more direct. Flaunting her petite but muscular figure while she whispered sinuous words in another's ears had always struck her as more than a little absurd. She had to admit, now that she was actually giving it a try it was a little...fun? None of her packmates were there to see her playing this game, so she decided to indulge herself just this once.

Leif studied the female over quickly for a moment. 'White wolf, Darkened fur on the hind legs, Yellow eyes.. Spots on her lower back end.' he thought to himself, thinking for a moment as he tried to place his mind on it. "Complicity.. You say.." he said, his voice slowing a bit as he spoke the female's name. 'Wait a minute..' he thought to himself, finally putting two and two together.
He sniffled his nose for a moment before inhaling sharply through his nose, trying to catch the slightest scent around him. A slight scent made its way through. "Well.. Complicity, I appreciate your offer to join me. But I would like to decline the offer." he said, slowly stepping away from the wolf before him. 'I know who she is.. But what was the name?!' he cried out in his head, he knew very well who he was facing, but did not know what her name was off the top of his head.
"I actually think I will be gracing another location with my presence, if you wouldn't mind."

Oh, he was quicker than she had initially pegged him. Not quick enough of course, but still, credit where credit was due. "Stay," she cooed, taking a step towards him for every step he took backwards, "Please, I insist. I promise I won't bore you; in fact, there is something very interesting for us to discuss."
Beneath their feet, a low rumble started, far beneath the surface of the earth. The vibrations that rose up through the ground were not violent or even particularly noticeable with paws along, but the leaves on nearby saplings buzzed in a manner that seemed much more deliberate, somehow, than a normal earthquake.
"I think you'll be staying right here until we finish our chat. Otherwise you might lose your footing and stumble...and you'd be surprised how suddenly a pool of quicksand can spring up in this neck of the woods. Do you have any idea where this neck of the woods is...?"

The low rumble set Leif off, now he knew where he was. He let his ears listen around carefully, listening for the movements in the earth as he kept his eyes trained in on Perjury. "I don't have anything to discuss with you, Miss." he said politely, bowing his head as he wondered what he could do to get out of this situation.
Suddenly her name his his head, as she spoke further about quicksand in the woods. "Now that you have enlightened me, I do indeed know where I am. Perjury." Leif spoke, his head lowering a bit as he knew what could happen to him. "It seems I've been wandering into unknown areas and territories without safety precautions. But, this does indeed however speed things up a bit." he said. His words were cautious, and his voice was a bit shaky, he was nervous of what Perjury might do.
Slowly, Leif sat his haunches back and down onto the ground. "I have been meaning to come here, not on such terrible conditions however. But I would enjoy very much joining your ranks." he said, dipping his head down submissively, trying to show he meant no harm. "I would also like to apologize for my past transgressions, the territories are unfamiliar to me, and as I mentioned, my sinuses are clogged." the wolf spoke, keeping his head bowed.

"It seems you have heard of me, then." Perjury said, dropping the act. "Which makes me wonder. If you have heard of the Frigid Plague, and you knew we were in the redwoods, why did not display more caution in the redwood forest before you trampled all over my border? A wolf would be foolish to rely only on his nose to keep him alive. Especially a nose that is stuffed up to the point of uselessness."
At his request, though, Perjury had to quickly mask her shock. This wolf, a member of her pack? She had not even taken him for evil. "You would forgive me for laughing at your proposal," she didn't laugh, but she had to fight the impulse, "Apologies are apologies. That is to say, not much of value. Your words tell me that you consider yourself an asset to the Frigid Plague, but your actions tell me that you would drop your scent on the Dark Donoma border in a fit of stupidity and incite a war against us. You'll have to do a better job than that to convince me of your value."

Leif was sincerely sorry for what he had done. "It was an honest mistake, the forests are not a common area I tread upon, if I had known, then I would not have marked on your border." he said, slowly raising his head up. "Go ahead and laugh, more than enough people have." he said, not seeming to care as he sat himself back on his haunches softly. "Are you just shocked that a majestic wolf couldn't be Evil too?" he chuckled happily before focusing on what she had said.
"I do not know how to prove myself at this time, alphess Perjury. But in time, if you would allow me, I will prove myself to you through whatever means I need." he said, keeping his eyes locked on hers. "Dark Donoma's territory I'm actually familiar with myself, they marked it only recently having moved from their old location. A pack took their old territory.. Camelot, or something stupid along that lines." he said digging into his mind for a moment. He was full of information, perhaps that could be useful to Perjury.

"Ha!" At this, she did laugh, "Majestic? Oh, my friend, I could come up with a dozen words to describe you, having only met you minutes ago, and 'majestic' would be none of them. 'Foolish' would top the list, and at your blathering now I am leaning towards 'arrogant.'"
The rumbling came to a halt, and the forest grew deathly quiet. Perjury's yellow eyes narrowed, "You will prove yourself to me now, or you will leave." She said, voice ringing out more than ever in the sudden silence, "I don't know who you think you are to be believing that you deserve to be babysat by Vanitas and I until we can be assured that you won't do something catastrophically stupid, but I would like to dispel you of that notion immediately. Either you identify with the code of the Frigid Plague with your full being or you do not. Tell me now why you belong here."

Leif watched Perjury closely, smirking a bit as she actually laughed this time. "Go ahead and laugh, I'm quite used to it. Arrogant is such an ugly word, I will however agree to foolish, at times." he said, smiling softly at Perjury.
"Come now, sweetie. I can tell you already I'm far from being a good fighter. I'm a scout, and information holder. I don't enjoy confrontation of certain wolves, if I can avoid it. he said, keeping himself seated in an attempt to show Perjury he wasn't afraid. "Babysat, that's an interesting choice of words." he said, he was obviously making mental notes of Perjury, storing them for later. "All I can say is that I would abide by Frigid Plagues.. 'Code' was it? And not besmirch its name, I can only give you my word however, it is your word that is final in the matter." he said, willing to accept his fate, if needed.
"Also, given my shaky history with you at the moment, if you should wish to punish me for what I have done, so be it. I accept my fate with dignity." he said, before sniffling a bit, his nose still stopped up.

If he thought he would win her over with pet names and apathy towards her pack's cause, he was going to be sorely disappointed.
"I am glad to hear that you will accept your punishment without fuss." She said, not letting on to her intentions. A rumbling started up again, but this one quick and sharp and much, much closer than before. In only a few moments the ground beneath Leif's feet collapsed. Satisfied with her work, Perjury peered down into the pit she had formed. The sides were near-vertical, the only footholds being spindly roots and rocks that jutted out from the rough soil. Some would hold fast, but many more were loose and ready to collapse under a wolf's weight.
"I will be back when the sun goes down to fill in this hole," she called down to him, "I invite you to escape, if you can, if you would rather it not be filled in on top of you. But don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to think. Perhaps you will learn a lesson in respect."

There was the rumble again. "I have to admit, it's a neat trick you have in your paws, the power to move soil." he said, seeming un-phased as the ground beneath him disappeared and he fell into the abyss. Acting quickly, her unsheathed his claws and dug them into the side, grabbing a root with his maw as he lowered himself to the ground of the pit.
He smirked up at Perjury, "Nifty trick, Perjury, dear." he said, a smile still on his face. "I look forward to meeting you again then." he said, bowing his head at her, from down in the hole. Without another word, Leif quickly started to check the surroundings of the small pit, looking for weak points in places to grasp, and strong points as well. It was like he was in another world, analyzing what was around him, not even paying attention to see if Perjury had left or not.

Perjury shrugged, clearly he wasn't planning to learn a thing. That was far from her problem, though. Her pack's position was one of the most enviable in the valley; she was not desperate for subordinates such that she would accept a wolf who didn't seem to know the meaning of the word 'subordinate.'
"Judging from the position of the sun, you have about three hours. If you manage to get yourself out, you can travel west to leave my lands. Fix that nose of yours before you wander off again, or I won't be so merciful next time we cross paths." With that warning, she turned back into her territory and left him to his own devices.

Leif had nothing he intended to learn, after all he knew how to be respectful, but he didn't think Perjury deserved the respect, given the way she had treated him. He sighed softly as he found a few spots in the walls of the pit, roots, rocks, and the like that seemed sturdy enough.
"It was a nice try, Perj. But it won't hold me up for three hours." he said to himself, unsheathing his claws back out and beginning to climb his way up the walls of the pit. He moved slowly, he made sure that his other three paws were sturdy before he moved the next one up. Every now and then he would grab onto a root or two with his jaws as he pulled himself up, up and up some more, finally making it towards the top of the pit and dragging himself out of the trap laid by Perjury. It took him a little under an hour, and it was no easy task, but he made it out of Perjury's trap.
"I'll be back, just you wait." he scoffed, before slowly padding his way off to the west.
