I Didn't Know She Couldn't Swim... Not At First At Least

Dancer

Dancer trotted along the bank of the basin. An icy blue blue frost began to build up along the surface. Pausing for a moment, she dipped her to take a sip. She had been traveling for a month. It was fall when she left and she hadn't found a home for the winter yet. With a nearly silent creak, her muzzle broke through the thin film. Cold spread up her muzzle as she drank the refreshing water. Splinters spread from the intrusion. The pink female yanked her head back up when the freezing chill became too much. Her teeth chattered and she scampered farther along the edge. As long as she didn't fall in, everything would be okay.

Her black paws thundered against the snow covered ground, legs working furiously to pump her thin body to safety. Dancer was alone so far and she knew she would go crazy if there wasn't any other wolf to talk to through winter. So, as the she wolf ran, she hoped someone would bump into her. Just when she thought it couldn't get any worse, it began to snow. White, fluffy flakes clung to her thin short fur. Just keep running. That thought kept racing through her head. All she needed was a place to stay. Food would be nice too. But for now all she needed was warmth. Food could wait.

Topaz

The brown and white she wolf launched herself down the snow fallen ground. Topaz kept casting terrified looks over her shoulder. As she had been walking along, she witnessed murder. Before that there was fighting. The black she wolf had escaped the male with blood red paws. But the third had not been lucky, though she was still alive. She had been a large and fluffy white wolf. Her leg had been torn off. It was awful. All these thoughts racing through her head, Topaz didn't notice the pink she wolf. She barreled into Dancer and knocked her off her feet. Both Dancer and Topaz were thrown into the water.

Dancer

She felt impact and a sudden flash of cold. A wolf had collided with her, sending them both the the water. Dancer's powerful legs worked hard to keep her afloat. The newcomer wasn't so lucky. She was drowning. The colorful she wolf let out a scream of terror. She thrust her black muzzle into the water and gripped the drowning wolf's scruff. Topaz took a gulp of air while her head bobbed above the surface then crashed back under. She kicked her own legs to help her savior. All there was, was hope.

Topaz

The she wolf got the bank. Hard. There was a loud thud that resounded across the lake. Water slid across her fur and skin, dampening the ground below her. The snow melted a bit from her body heat and clumped to her fur in a slippery mess. Looking up to her savior, Topaz gasped out an introduction. "H-hey. I'm Topaz. Thanks for saving my life. What's your name?" Her lungs felt as though they were on fire and would burst from her chest. Her white circle on her Ruko and under eyes slowly began to match her dirt colored fur. As the snow melted, mud caked her body.

Dancer

She flinched at the thud and looked over the wolf who couldn't swim. With a frown, she listened to the she wolf named Topaz. It was pathetic, but at least she had the manners to thank her. Dancer shrugged and responded with "I'm Dancer. And you should learn how to swim." She narrowed her eyes at the she wolf who had one foot in the grave. Did she dare to laugh?

Topaz

The brown she wolf struggled to keep from giggling. Dancer? Really? Wow! Topaz failed to keep in it and but out laughing and tossed her head down onto the bank. She seemed to forget that Dancer just save her life and it was Topaz's fault for putting them in this mess.

Dancer

She knew this would happen. It happened before. Something deep down inside snapped. So did her jaws. The pink wolf snarled and lunged for Topaz's scruff. Her muscles worked as she tore he from the earth and tossed her into the freezing waters. She knew, that she could no longer be a good wolf once she was done here. Not missing a beat, she spun and leaped for the water herself. She landed on top of Topaz, forcing her under.

Topaz

The she wolf screamed as she was thrown into the water, weight crashed into her and she struggled for breath. She trashed to and fro, but she couldn't shake her attacker. The freezing water chilled her bones and made her sluggish. She lashed out with her legs, every hit missing. Eventually she fell limp, passed out. Topaz ended her struggle and floated against Dancer.

Dancer

Dancer fell the wolf go limp and jumped off. She snapped her jaws around her neck, trashing her head side to side like the wolf was a rag doll. In her anger, she tossed down the wolf. Topaz didn't even breath. She smirked and licked her jaws. The deed was done. Topaz was dead. She slipped back into the water and rinsed off her face. Satisfied with her cleansed fur, she got out. She dug a hole and disposed of the body in there. Kicking the dirt over it, she continued on her way.
