Pumpkin
The white and orange wolf waded through the thick snow. His brown eye and purple eye scanned the area before him. Trees rose by his sides, providing some shade from the winter sun. A few feet ahead, the trees stopped and opened up onto a large bank. The bank of the Kai Lake. He stepped forward into the sun. His eyes closed and he breathed in the crisp winter air. It stung his throat as it slid into his lungs. A cough raked him and he doubled over. After a few seconds of coughing, he looked forward again, observing the body of water. Pumpkin noticed that, dispite the new snowy chill, the lake was not completely frozen. He smiled. Today had been boring. Swimming sounded like a good idea.
Pumpkin in musted his power. The mark on his paw began to flow. He sometimes used his power just to admire the illuminating mark. A smile played on his lips. But today I have other uses for you. Pumpkin stepped forward in the direction of the lake. With every step, he felt the breeze around him growing stronger. He was using his power of current to make an air barrier around his fur. He couldn't very well get his fur wet in winter. He could die. So Pumpkin was making a thick pocket of air around himself to keep out the water.
Now he stood before the water, looking into the black abyss that concealed what lie below the surface. Pumpkin chuckled. His daring instincts took over and he leaped into the water. It flowed smoothly around him, but failed to penetrate his shield. A laugh echoed in his bubble. He spun in the water, propelling himself with short bursts of air. Under the water, he could see fish swimming through the rocky bottom. Pumpkin pushed himself forward. He weaved through the fish, spinning around in delight. The fish startled when he neared them, but didn't take off. This allowed Pumpkin to get close to them and admire their scales. From a distance, all the fish looked silver and dull, but up close they were elaborate creatures. Upon closer inspection, the fish had rainbow scales. They looked silver from far away because of the multitude of colors that blended into one mass. Their eyes looked nothing like anything Pumpkin had ever seen. The color was a dull grey and the pupil seemed to sink into its skull, pulling him in with it. Through the eyes of the fish, he saw himself. A white and orange wolf hovering in the water with a supernatural ability. A strange clear sphere encircled him. Bubbles drifted up as it breathed using its power. The fish watched as the bubbled floated up to the surface of the lake. Pumpkin shook his head and returned to his own body, looking into the eyes of the fish. He paused, nodding his head, before turning and swimming away again.
