Breaking Family Ties [Tagged and Open]

Osiris paced through the clearing, not at all happy with the dreary scenery. Such sadness. The winter winds blew coldly through the yellow fields, while the overcast skies reduced everything to drab grey. Osiris promised himself that he would visit during summer, when the region's color returned in the form of wildflowers and the air became light and warm. While he loved to act, he couldn't find a persona that fit; the drab air of the clearing seemed to suck the life out of him. All that he could muster was a disgruntled and uncaring feel, one that he found quite distasteful. Osiris supposed it suited the events that had happened- his family had split, and whether it was for the better or the worse, he could not tell. Sure, he found his brothers annoying, but they had had their fun times together.

Thankfully, one of his brothers had decided to tag along. Ceres, although somewhat quiet, made for great company. If anything, he felt he was the one brother he could openly trust. Turning back, he gave a shout over his shoulder to him; he was lagging behind slightly, and Osiris knew it was due to his hatred of the colder times of year.

"Come on! We can rest in a bit. I'm sure there's someplace we can find to take a break."

Ceres

His mint colored fur stood out in the pristine white snow. Nothing stirred other than the two wolves traipsing through the snow. Icicles hung off tree branches. Bushes sparkled with frozen dew. Rocks glistened, covered with a liquid she'll. Everything was clean and crystal, almost unlife like. Everything except the grumpy male growling under his breath. Ceres paused to fling the snow from his paws. He swore he could feel the liquid freezing between his paws. This would make his paws freeze and in turn, cause him to lose circulation in his paws and forever be disabled. It may be far fetched, but Cees knew it would happen! He flicked his paw for the last time and continued after his brother. 

Osiris was a little ahead of him. Ceres had been dragging behind as he thought about all the reasons he hated winter. Snow. Cruel. Cold. Death. Snow. Wet. Cloudy. Heartless. Dark. Snow. Dreary. Painful. Empty. No food. Snow. Oh wait. Did I already say snow? He shook his head and kept walking only to start his list all over again. Now Osiris stood in front of him. He spoke and Ceres cocked his head. Did he say something about a break? Ceres jumped forward. It barely took three leaps to close the large gap between them. One of the pros of his fit body. He stood in front of Osirs, tail wagging. "Great! I would love a break from this winter!"

Osiris snickered, his brother's almost peppy attitude cheering him slightly. "I'm afraid we can't take a break from winter. But it could be worse," Osiris said, his face growing stern, "The snow could be as high as the grass. at least here its not that deep."

The wind was slowly picking up, however; Osiris could see the clouds rolling and tumbling in the sky above, indicating a snowstorm soon to come. The snow might not be deep as of yet, but in a matter of a few hours, it could change. But they still had time; the wide clearing gave a fair amount of indication that the storm was a fair ways off, giving them ample time to find shelter against a snowstorm. Osiris turned his side to his brother and stood for a few moments, taking in the approaching rolling clouds, before he set off again. "We can have a small relief though once we find some shelter. You'll be hating winter even more if we somehow manage to get caught in that snowstorm,"he said, nodding towards the black clouds as he walked.

Ceres

He sighed. It was so depressing that for a hole fourth of the year they had to endure this torturous weather. Ceres shook with the thought of how many more winters he would have to deal with before he died. A small whimper escaped him. Then he nodded as he agreed that this was a much better situation than it could be. The storm sounded like a nightmare. He looked up and whimpered again. The sky was dark and rolling with clouds preparing to unleash their loads above them. 

Ceres, still looking at the sky, quickened his pace. "Okay okay. I get it. You know I hate winter. Now can we find some shelter before I panic about this storm?" His usual cool-headed personality was fading simply by the idea of being caught in the oncoming snowstorm.

Cere's personality was cheering him already; it was just something about seeing his brother's unneeded fear and hatred of winter that amused him slightly. Winter wouldn't kill them anytime soon unless they acted ignorant of it. But the clearing did seem fairly large...but no matter; the clouds where still a decent ways away.

"I'm sure there's shelter on the other side of this clearing. I certainly didn't see anything behind us." Osiris shook his head; how he'd love to just settle down somewhere and not travel all the time. Shelter always seemed in such short supply.

"So, you glad our family separated?" he asked, the wind starting to blow harder, "I say its a welcome relief, though I'd personally prefer if it was an extended vacation..."

Ceres

He whimpered quietly. His eyes scanned the clearing. It was so large. Ceres knew it would take some time to cross. The storm wouldn't slow to give them time to cross. They would have to walk quickly if they wanted to have any time to search. That was if there was any shelter at all. Ceres considered turning around. Then he remembered Osiris's words. He had been so consumed by his hateful thoughts about winter that he had failed to notice if there was any shelter. That didn't matter. He trusted that Osiris had been attentive enough to notice if they had passed any shelter. 

Ceres followed Osiris. He looked across the clearing, hoping they would find something. While his eyes looked into the distance, he listened to his brother's words. His head nodded sadly, but he had accepted the situation. "It was the best for everyone. I am thankful that I no longer have to watch the family fight and bully Pluto. Perhaps not Pluto can find happiness and everyone else can escape the life bound by mom and dad's favoritism." Ceres shrugged lightly. "Just my opinion." He hoped his answer was sufficient enough for Osiris.

The treeline was slowly growing in size; it would only take mere minutes now for the pair to reach the shelter of the trees, and with any luck, find hard shelter.

"Aye, but I think Pluto deserved it, though I do admit that mother and father's parenting skills did nothing to help the situation," Osiris said, his face cold. He had never been paid much heed, but he had grown to like it. There was a sweet freedom associated with being an outsider. "And it certainly does feel better not having to put up with everyone else, especially father.

The forest finally loomed above the pair, and just in time. the wind was becoming unbearable, and snow was beginning to fall slowly. Immediately, something caught Osiris's eye. Well aren't I lucky? he smirked to himself as he made his way towards a fairly decent den. There was no other scent to it; any occupants it once held where gone.

"This should provide us some shelter. After you," he said, his cheery attitude slowly reforming.
