Pride Strange @ebony @tearinmyheart @rhiannon @twilight Fjord sucked in a deep breath of the hot dank air surrounding him. The mist was gone but the air was just as humid. The summer sun sliced through the meager shade of the mottled trees. These trees would grow into the ideal glade once he fastened his paws on a wolf with botany. Today was the day the ranks would be proclaimed, challenges offered up and pups become full members. That little Ebony. Fjord had plans for her. She would be raised in evilness and might become an Alphess when he passed on. Though surely if he had any offspring they would be first choice. But as of now, he had no seed. The white and red male trotted under the dappled shade. He sat on a fallen, rotting log, overlooking the clearing. Soon his pack mates would arrive. He held his head high. Today was the day. The dawn of a new age. The dawn of Silence. He raised his head and howled, his tone commanding. Yet even that faded into inevitable silence.

"I wonder what's the plan Fjord hiding from us? Better be interesting." Edge thought, his his fangs gnaw on a broken leg of a dead deer. His fangs crush and chew on the dense skin, letting what remains of the deer's blood tickle down like honey on his jaw; the juicy details grips him from his surroundings of the mottled trees around the pack home. With the blood as water, Edge greedily shallow every drop as the blinding sun creep down upon the shore of the trees and dive into the burning floor. This wouldn't be such a problem for the giant wolf, but after a great battle against unwelcome guests, his energy was shallow and sore since he need rest.
Just as Edge chow down the last meal and slowly place his head on the bones, an echo of howls capture his attention: Fjord! Leaping on his still bloody paws, Edge race towards the calls, reaching to the center his Alpha lays. His bow was present as well his humble bark of greetings for his mighty. "Yes, Alpha Fjord?"

Anxiety flooding through her, the young pup made her way over in the direction that the alpha had howled. The dread and fear of failing had made her cranky and irritable, but was hidden well under a mask of calm. She had planned her hunt out in her head, yet it was just her luck that they never worked. Reaching where the two wolves stood, she bowed and greeted the two respectfully. "Alpha Fjord?" She greeted in question, yet she already knew why she was here-Today was the day of her rage ritual. Assuming everything went to plan, she would officially be a member of the pack, yet a feeling of dread crept up her throat at the thought of failure.

Fjord heard and smelled his wolves before they arrived. "Brother Beta." He addressed Edge. He was not officially beta yet. But Fjord was positive no wolf would challenge him. "Little Sister Ebony." he shifted his red gaze to the pup. She had grown considerably. He knew she was nervous, he could see it in her eyes. However, her composure and stance did not reveal any flaws. Absently, Fjord thought about what rank she would like. Of course the high ranks were closed and reserved for the elder members, but Fjord couldn't help and wonder what her ambition was.
"We will begin the Ritual when all the members arrive. Then, while Ebony and her chosen supervisor are out performing the rite we will solidify our ranks." the white male stepped down from his pets hand brushed his shoulder with Edges before approaching Ebony. He looked down in her appraising my, wondering if she could truly become evil. For right now her malice was small and tame. She needed to become ruthless.
(As clarification Ebony will need to choose a senior member to accompany her to make sure she does the ritual correctly. She can choose Fjord himself.)

Sirus tilted his head back, listening curiously as a howl floated along the breeze. A freshly-killed fox lie before him, his white pelt sticky and glistening with blood. For the past several days he had been wandering the territory, largely unseen and unheard by everyone. Of course, he had happened across quite a few wolves on his sojourn, but they had never been even slightly aware of his presence there. He preferred it this way, in truth, for this was the only way he could truly become aquatinted with the members of his newfound pack. Otherwise, if he had introduced himself early, then they were bound to follow the social ritual of putting on airs for strangers— be it by becoming friendlier than they typically were or more hostile.
He cut through the trees like a white blade, sleek and unnaturally graceful. Soon he began to see the dots of his pack mates through the trees, one sitting prominently upon a log in the center of the clearing. He recognized the voice of the alpha from the very first time that they met, but he was not entirely sure why all of them were being summoned like this. An educated guess would be to assume that it was some sort of ritual or announcement— they were a new pack, after all. No doubt that the strands of newness that still clung to most of their pelts was a cause for excitement among his peers. He could see it in the way they traveled the waste; that tell-tale hint of discomfort that revealed that they were not yet fully settled among this new land. On top of that, trying to form a pack shoulder-to-shoulder with other, more seasoned groups was like trying to plant a sapling in the shadow of great oak trees. The younger pack would have to be particularly tenacious in order to survive, but that at least was a trait that he was confident that his peers possessed.
Sirus emerged from the fringe of trees, lingering at the edge of the crowd. From this vantage point he could keep an eye on those before him. For he was equally as interested in watching their reactions to whatever Fjord had to say as he was actually hearing the Alpha's words. His jade eyes were almost immediately drawn to a small pup among the others. This summoning had something to do with her, judging by the quiver that betrayed her nervousness. She was young, so he doubted that she could have done anything that would upset the Alpha to the point that it would earn severe punishment. No. Her fear had a different source. Perhaps this was some sort of initiation ritual?
Yes, that must have been it. He had encountered such strange traditions in other packs before. Some of them had logical purposes, and others simply stood on pomp and circumstance. Considering this pack had no ancient history to serve as a wellspring for frivolous ceremonies, Sirus was willing to assume that this specific case was likely the former. Survival here could either forge or break the wolves that dwelled here— it was a wise choice to test the mettle of the young in order to judge how they might live and contribute to their peers within the barrens. But, what would happen to the youth if they failed? Exile, or perhaps even murder. He couldn't see a pack who valued strength over all else being generous when it came to giving second chances.
Yes, this pup had good reason to fear— being wary of the consequences might drive her to succeed. Or, perhaps, it would lead to her downfall. He would wait and see.

Hearing his Alpha addressed him as 'brother', Edge dip his head in response of respect, claiming the title as of honor. Edge observe Ebony and her nervous system controlling her action; she is right to fear in Fjord present, nothing should be above her as of this point, but her position us to be treated like a test. The information contained about a ritual surprise the massive black wolf, but soon his mind ease somewhat when Fjord call out that Ebony and her successor would guide the pup to her new future rank. Neat!
Edge's body stand still, awaiting the arrival of the rest of the packmate to enter this ritual, not knowing the present of Sirus nearby, but can smell the fresh scent of blood; however, he quickly wash the thought away, thinking that the raw smell was coming from his paws and jaws, which he soon start to clean up.

The shewolf had just laid down with her kill a small kit that had wondered too far from the den. She wasn't hungry merely wanted a snack so had allowed the other two to live. One paw held the body still while her jaws tore flesh from bones the blood matching her coat. It was hot out summer had just begun in the waste land so she had seeked out what little shade she could.
Ears perked up at the sound of a howl in the distance. Tanali thought of ignoring the howl and finishing her meal but the thought of ignoring Fjord's call seemed very unwise of her. Tanali had yet to meet the rest of the pack having spent most of her time exploring the lands and familiarizing herself with her new home. When the howl finally faded and silence returned she sighed and stood up glancing at what was left of her kill she knew that leaving it in the sun would cause what little meat was left to rott but hopefully the scavengers would pick it off before then.
Having made up her mind she turned in the direction the howl had come from and took off her paws creating little dust clouds in the dried up Earth. She slowed down before she reached the pack eyes scanning the other wolves easily finding Fjord among them but the others she did not know. As she got closer she lowered her head out of respect and glanced at Fjord," Yes Alpha?" She said to him before glancing at Edge and giving him a nod.
When her eyes landed on Ebony she took in the smaller wolf with a tilt of her head. It was strange seeing such a young wolf without her parents but it was not her business to say anything and by the smell of dread coming from her she figured Fjord had something big planned for her. Tanali sat down on her haunches so she could see all of the wolves except for Sirus who was further away than them.

Although a small yawn flow off the lips of the wolf, Edge stand still, awaiting extra commands from Fjord, so as soon as his job was finish he could drift off to bed. Ears perk up from the sound of roaming paws racing towards them, making the black wolf's icy blue eyes trace to wandering and glace at Tanali as she bow before Fjord and offer a nod to him. Edge, being in respect, response to her in his own nod, adding with an unusual smile across his face. When still eyeing the female, Edge notice her puzzle muzzle, so the large wolf bend down and whisper to the packmate. "It's a ritual for Ebony. Alpha Fjord is going to help guide her to a teacher of her choose." There might be more, but that was all the information contained in the beginning he heard.

A lot more wolves had arrived, so she assumed this was everyone. Ebony quickly looked at everyone who had arrived. She did not realise that she had to choose someone to accompany her on her ritual, yet now she thought about it, it made perfect sense to have an older wolf nearby. She noticed the blood on Sirus' coat, and wondered what he had killed. She knew that in theory, Alpha Fjord would be the best choice, but seen as they were discussing ranks while she was out hunting, it seemed a bad choice. She looked again at Sirus, deciding that she would prefer him to be a supervisor, but unsure on how to put it into words.

Analise panted as she ran towards her alpha's call. She had gotten held back from a scuffle with an angry badger along the way. When she finally arrived she noticed three new wolves that she hadn't seen before. One looked horrified, but from a few things she had heard on her way told her it was time for the little one's Rage ceremony. A fresh cut on her shoulder dribbled some blood and she slowed down to catch her breath. She huffed as she walked over quietly, slightly ashamed that she was late. She dipped her head to Fjord and spoke quietly. "Alpha Fjord." After she turned to carry on. Choosing to stand next to a wolf she knew, she slowed to a halt next to Edge and offered a tired smile.

Fjord looked around as slowly more wolves drifted into the copse of mottled trees. He counted each head. The broad grey one of Edge. The slick white one of Sirius. The russet dried blood hue of Tanali's. Annalise's royal blue one along with Ebony's small one. Everyone but Irene. He wondered where she was lurking around. If she wanted to retain her perspective rank of Betess, she would have to show up. After passing a nod to those who spoke he decided it was time to stress them all. In a whirl of red and white Alpha Fjord leaped once again upon his perch. Frost creeped slowly over the log as his power mark glowed.
"Brothers and Sisters!" Fjord addressed his pack mates evenly with a loud voice, demanding attention. He paused and awaited silence. "Today two very important subjects will be discussed and acted upon!" A small smile attempted to play on his lips but was quickly squashed away before it could make an appearance. "First of all, our Little Sister Ebony is ready to become a fully fledged member of the pack!" He paused to let the crowd cheer for their sister. He then addressed Ebony herself. "Who do you wish to accompany you on your journey to adulthood?"

Edge, after spying on Analise's upbringing, take notice of her cut and aim to lick the blood from dripping even more, but quickly stop his tongue when her face open up a tired smile. A small chuckle fly through his bare as he whisper to her, "You look worse than me...as usual." Even though he was joking, he add a more nicer smile to mix with it. It seem like everyone, excluding Irene, joined the little party. Looking back at the Alpha, his loud but mighty voice howl for attention as his speech begin with the ritual. When Fjord declear that Ebony is now apart of the pack, Edge cheer and bark for his tiny packmate before silencing himself once more.

When Edge explained to her that the source of the meeting was that Ebony had to complete a coming of age ceremony to stay within the pack she nodded and gave her an encouraging nod,"That explains why the little one is nervous, thank you for clarifying." She whispered back to Edge having to slightly lift her head due to his size. Ears perked up at the sound of an approaching wolf and she glanced over to see that Analise also entered, Tanali nodded her head out of respect for the other shewolf before returning her attention back to Fjord.
Tanali was about to ask Fjord if she could seek out Geist for a power before the ceremony started but not being one to interrupt she decided to wait it out whenever he began speaking. When Fjord spoke of the ceremony and welcomed Ebony into the pack she barked out of happiness along with the pack before silencing herself once more. She licked her lips whenever their alpha brought up the fact that the little one would need a tutor of sorts to attend to the ceremony with her. It wasn't that she didn't like the young wolf, it was just she wanted to seek permission to go on her quest for inferno while Ebony was on her hunt.

Noticing that the newest wolf to arrive also haf blood in their fur, the pup wished she had killed something on the way. Maybe it would make her seem more condfident, but it was more likely that she would seem boastful.
Raven tried to add another mask of calm to her obviously anxious face. Alpha fjord had asked who she would like to accompany her, and making the most of her 15 seconds of confidence, spoke out. "Is-is Sirus allowed to accompany me?" Pretending that she had not stuttered seemed like the best thing to do, and hoped it wasn't noticable.

Irina ran swiftly through the forest, trying to go as fast as she could. Her paw was making it hugely difficult for her to move through the forest at such a speed. These last few weeks Irina had been stuck in the mountains. She had previously been resting in a cave after trying to recruit more pack members. Unfortunately she couldn’t find any lone wolves so she started to make her way back through the mountains. She spent the night in a cave but when she woke up early the next morning she was barricaded in, so she spent the last week heaving the rocks away from the entrance so she could return home to the pack. Sniffing up into the air she smelt the familiar scent of her Alpha, Fjord. Slowing down Irina passed the border so she was back in the safety of her home. She stopped to see all the pack together discussing Ebony’s ritual. Irina sat down near the edge of the clearing, placing her injured paw down carefully, hoping not to disrupt the ceremony.
