Daria yawned widely, her jaws snapping shut with a satisfying click. She could feel that her previously impregnable thick coat of fur had been invaded by dirt and grime from her habitation of the Lilly Warren. Daria had been living here for a few months now, since the beginning of the hot summer. The shewolf had grown accustomed to the hot weather of the valley. At least it was hot for her. She was sure many other wolves would begin to shiver during the fall. Daria, on the other hand, had grown up in the northern mountains all alone, fending for herself since pup hood. And she was blind.

Standing up she shook the earth from her pelt. The Lilly Warren was a network of overhangs, tunnels and trenches. She could tell, because when she was under a layer of earth everything got quieter and colder. Not to mention she could smell the iron rich soil above her and the bitter roots of herbs and wild grasses sprouting through. Now, Daria had denned up in a dead end, in a short tunnel. Underneath her paws, the smooth hard clay soil was molded into small divots where many paws must've walked. It made Daria sad to think of the thriving pack that once resided where this lone shewolf stood. With a sigh she exited her den and stepped into fresh snow.

The cold was a pleasant shock as it seemingly pierced her pads. Smiling, she treaded onwards, it must've snowed last night. This was not the first snow of winter, but it seemed like this snow would actually stay instead of melting away at half day. But enough dawdling, she needed to hunt down breakfast.

Toriel trekked through the snow, her usual smile on her face. While the weather was slightly cold, the clean whiteness the snow brought filled her heart with determination and warmth.

While she had just entered the region, Toriel had immediately noted that there was a conflict of sorts taking residence in the region. The first, she found herself at home with; there were plenty of wolves in the valley that had kind hearts and good intents. But the others filled her with a sort of sad disappointment; she was well acquainted with those of darker goals, those who found no regret in fighting. While she could defend herself against such wolves, she preferred not to. Fighting wasn't the answer to everything; words could oftentimes be far more powerful.

Back to the present, Toriel sensed another wolf nearby. She smiled softly to herself, sincerely hoping that this wolf had no ill thoughts. Padding forward, she saw the other wolf a few seconds later. Toriel stopped, her body half hidden by a tree as she gave a welcoming smile and introduced herself. "Hello," she said, her voice warm and accented, "My name is Toriel; may i ask of yours?"

Daria went along, picking her way through the snow, nose working. There should be a network of rabbit dens around here somewhere....just then a voice came from nearby. Shocked, she jumped out of her skin. She whipped her head around, searching for the voice. Her ears swiveling around on her head. In this quiet snowscape it wasn't too difficult to major out the breathing of the wolf. From the pitch and tone of the voice, it was a female as the scent suggested. "You scared me, stranger." Daria breathed out nervously. From the fact she hadn't been attacked yet, she thought that perhaps this shewolf wasn't of the evil faction. Though she couldn't be sure. Maybe she was simply on edge because she was used to the peaceful isolation of the Lilly warren.

Anxiously, Daria pushed her paws harder into the snow, making her indentations deeper. The cold crystalline ice beneath her compacted under her paws. The blind shewolf smiled in the hopes of relaxing the icy tension in the air. "Im Daria, of the mountains beyond. It's good to meet another wolf, its been a while..." thoughts raced like a river through her mind, should she make this conversation quick and short, or try and be friendly?

As Kanta looked around her she had no recollection of ever being in this place. She had just been teleported against her will to this place and only thoughts of hatred came to her mind. “That witch,” she thought to herself “she left me here all alone... Not to mention she didn’t bring my lunch with her.”

Kanta’s thoughts were interrupted by the voices of nearby wolves. She stood up and slowly trotted over towards the voices. She came across a white wolf with a yellow stripe down its back facing away from Kanta looking at another white wolf with a bit of blue on its chest. By appearance and smell they both seemed to be females.

Kanta was slightly hidden behind two trees as she peered at the two wolves. Kanta had never known any wolf that wasn’t like those of her previous pack. A part of her hoped that they would have a dark desires as she did but a part of her also disliked the thought of that. She only knew good wolves and wouldn’t know how wolves of a different side would act. Making enemies in an unknown place was not a strategic move for Kanta. If these wolves were from around here they could prove useful as guides at the very least for Kanta.

Kanta stayed where she was slightly hidden by the trees and dresses them both. “Hello there. Are you two from around here?” she asked waiting for a response.

Luna froze, her belly fur brushing the undergrowth noiselessly. She had been about to ask the same question, but now she was afraid to. The white pup had just worked up the willpower... No, Luna, she told herself. Come on. What would Mother and Father do?

Bracing herself, the tiny white wolf pittered into the clearing. She smelled three Wolves. Two were visible... Oh, there was the third. "I'm not the one who spoke," she pipped, trotting up to the silent older Wolves. "She's over there. Oh, I'm Luna, by the way. Can I- can I join your pack, please?"

Daria's nose suddenly picked up two more scents: a subtly milky scent if a pup and a sharp bitter scent of another wolf. A cool voice coming from the nearby woods, asking about their origins. The sudden appearances of three newcomers in one day surprised her. She hadn't seen another wolf for moons now, the most recent being a silhouette on the horizon, or the howls if the close by Eternal Snowfall pack. The blind shewolf backed away a few steps, unsure of these new arrivals. She hoped that none if them were evil in affinity. Knowing those folks, they might attempt to take advantage if her or kill her for sport. Maybe she should've gotten a power when she crossed into this valley. Answering the questionnaires, Daria spoke, voice wavering.

"I come from the mountainous region beyond, though I have lived here for many seasons." She addressed the one who the pup spoke of. Then, turning to the spritely pup, Daria bent down, hopefully to the little ones level. "Im afraid I no longer belong to a pack, though you are welcome to stay with me if you choose. However, there is a good pack nearby that would house you." Daria liked this pup, she seemed very sweet and to he honest, Daria wouldn't mind some company. Daria was an adult now and in a few years she would become elderly, she hoped it wasn't too late to have pups, even if they were adopted.

Toriel flicked her ears backwards; there were so many wolves in one area! She hadn't scented this many moments before. It came as a strong relief,as it seemed both of the newcomers were free of any darker intents. The two newcomers came into view seconds after one another, though it was fairly obvious their entries were not planned that way.

She gave her signature soft smile at the two of them as they introduced themselves, one a mere pup. "Hello friends; i am Toriel. I'm quite new here. Actually, you three are the first wolves i've met in this region."

Genesis cocked her head at the she-wolves. With a jolt, she realized that she was blind. She stayed silent, though, staring down at her. The older, blue speckled wolf's head was just brushing the grass; Genesis stood about a pup's tail-length above her.

"Well... I guess I could stay," she assented, though she was slightly disappointed. She had always dreamed of being an alpha, but time would tell. Who knew? Maybe, once she wasn't a pup anymore, she could lead the blind she-wolf and a few others to become a pack. To be one.

"Alright," she said more certainly. "What's your name? Sorry, your names," she added, addressing the yellow she-wolf. "I'm Genesis."

Kanta watched as another wolf, a pup, came out from the brush slightly hesitant. She introduced herself as Genesis and asked permission to join the pack of the two wolves already there.

If the two wolves were indeed a pack, Kanta would have left not wanting to become part of another good pack. Their proceeding demeanor lead Kanta to believe that they were indeed good wolves. But as one of the wolves said she wasn't in a pack and had been living here alone for sometimes now. She also spoke of a near by pack who was good who would take in the pup. Why would a pack bring in a new wolf without any prior knowledge of them, Kanta thought. A pup not to mention, in the midst of the winter season. But that wasn't Kanta's concern it would be the alpha of the good packs decision.

These thoughts were interupted by the other wolf ,who introduced herself as Toriel. Her and Kanta seemed to be in the same situation, both hadn't meet anyone other wolves in the region.

Genesis then agreed to stay with the other wolf then asked the names of the remaining wolves that hadn't introduced themselves yet.

Kanta come out from the trees she hid behind a ways and stepped closer to the group of wolves. "I am Kanta, and I seem to be in the same situation as Toriel over here." she spoke to the wolves.

Daria listened keenly to the goings on of the group. The only information that the blind shewolf could gather about Kanta was that she smelled strange, and seemed to be new to this homeless stuff. Maybe she was searching for a pack as well...though she sure she wasn't cut out for eternal snowfall. The pup Genesis seemed keen on finding a family. Daria wondered what had happened to her family. Did Genesis run away or abandoned? Maybe her family had been killed. All she knew was that this pup wanted a home. Toriel said that she wasn't from around here. She seemed timid, though how shy could she be; she had spoken to her of course. Was she just desperate? No, she seemed too laid back for desperation.

"Little pup, I'm not going to hold you here, go where you want to go! See new places! Make new friends by all means go! I'm just a blind wolf doing blind wolf things, you however...you are a young shewolf full of promise. Don't spend your time with a malformed shewolf like myself. Unless you want to of course. I could teach you how to smell. So you're not solely dependent on those two eyes if yours."

Daria sat, voice raw. She hadnt spoken in a while and this was what she got for it.

Genesis, in a split second decision, tottered on her hind legs to lick the blind she-wolf on the snout. "Daria," she said, "I don't want to leave. Let me be your eyes. I-" Genesis stopped herself, her golden eyes flicking warily at the other wolves. Stupid, she told herself. Commit to this.

"I want to tell you why I'm alone," she continued with a gulp. "My Mother and Father... They were killed by bears when I was two moon-cycles old. I wasn't in the clearing at the time; I had been chasing a beetle I found in the grass. When I smelled blood, I ran back and..."

With a shudder, Genesis pressed herself against the older wolf's chest. Eyes wide at her audacious act, she backed away on light paws, her tail ticked between her legs. "I'm sorry," she apologized. "I, uh... Well... I guess you will be hungry," she subtly changed the subject. "Um, I found a rabbit warren not far from here!" She continued eagerly.

She put a paw on her snout while inwardly berating herself. No one wants to hear your sob story, Genesis! She scolded herself. Better off alone and strong then known and mocked. Mother and Father had pressed that into her; it was perhaps their most lasting impression.
