Among the darkness, a white figure stood out, stark against the blackness of night. Blue eyes looked ahead at the strange land. It was dead and yet the scent of wolves proved that there was life. They had found a way to live in the bones of a dead creature. And Marrow was curious what their secret was. What sustained the pack in such a place? Surely, a pack living together in a graveyard would tear them a part. 

Unless....

Marrow frowned, becoming more certain of himself as he carefully walked closer to the border, crossing it. The young adult didn't know if it was allowed or not, but he knew that he wanted to join the pack. There may be other packs with better sources of food and water, but for a pack to live in a dead land it meant they were tighter than Marrow's family ever had been. The white wolf steeled himself, looking around for anyone else. He didn't want to seem like an intruder. The male didn't travel all this way to get himself chased off or worse, killed.

Marrow took in a breath before he released a long howl. It came soft at first but soon the howl's volume raised. His howl was loud and eerie as he sang for entry. Marrow needed this. He needed a home and he was ready to do anything to stay.

Fjord was furious. He didn't know why in particular. Maybe it was the fact that many scents of loners seemed to be overlapping his border. That needed to be fixed or someone would pay. The white male lifted his blood red paws over a muddy puddle then remembered his power and iced it over. Smirking with satisfaction, Fjord walked on, still troubled. Maybe it was the small numbers of the pack. No, that wasn't it. They were a strong pack even with a smaller task force. It made the more formidable. Small, tight, strong, ruthless. Together they could squash any threat, and bug that dared cross his border. Perking his ears up at a howl, Fjord smirked. "Speak of the devil."

Speeding up his stroll into a brisk trot, he made his way through the barrens. The hills were rolling but small, twig like trees rising in mottled clumps here and there. It was bleak and rather ugly. But once he got his paws on a wolf with Botany, things would change. Fjord spied the wolf near the border, ducked among the bleak trees. His fur was pure white, a powerful scheme. Fjords own pelt was white, only washed with bloody swirls up his legs. The alpha's red eyes rise to search for this newcomers. "Who dares cross the border of Midnight Silence!?" Fjord barked. "State your business or suffer the consequence I see fit!"

The bark made Marrow flinch as he backed up. He was over the border, but maybe that would be just enough to get attacked by this wolf. Marrow wanted to join him, he didn't want to fight the other wolf. He looked around for the wolf, but didn't see him. Not at first. The white wolf pulled his ears back and tucked his tail between his legs. Marrow was no threat and he wanted to show it to whoever was calling him out. In case he was being watched.

"I come looking for a home..." Marrow called out, his voice level. "I want to hunt and fight beside your pack... Midnight Silence." he added, watching and waiting for a response. "I am young and strong, I can help protect your lands." Marrow said as he listed off his abilities and promises. "I will be the most loyal wolf in your pack if you let me join, I promise this!"

Marrow stood his ground as he waited. The white wolf was submissive, but he wasn't going to just let himself get killed off by an angry wolf. Which by the sound of the bark, he sounded like it. Though Marrow couldn't place why. Perhaps it was because Marrow was an outsider. Accepting someone new into a pack could hurt it if they had ulterior motives. Marrow didn't though and he was going to prove it.

Fjord stepped into the open, revealing himself. This wolf was interesting indeed. His stance was a submissive one, his tone was respectful yet assertive. He wondered if this wolf had what it took to be Midnight Silence. Fjord listened as he explained his assets. Loyalty, determination. Great traits to bear, but if they were not under the right mind set, they would be useless. This wolf wasn't like Edge, he wasn't a challenger, he was a follower. But that didn't necessarily make him weak. Interested now, Fjord spoke.

"You parade your loyalty in front of me? Mere promises will not build trust. " The white and red alpha bristled, head proud and haughtily high. "If you wish to join this elite force, you must prove your loyalty and resourcefulness. I present you with a task," Fjord neared the white male, frost climbing up his legs. "Bring me a wolf with the power if botany, based on your performance, your rank will be given into you. If you do not return by this next summer, you will be forever exiled from our lands, and unable to join this pack." Fjord turned to leave. "But first, your title?"

Getting into a new pack was more difficult than Marrow first remembered. But, then again, he was born into the last pack he was in. Trust was a large issue and from his life as a loner, Marrow understood that too well. Some loners worked well together and even create packs together. But others wanted something. And it was true that Marrow wanted something. But it was a home he searched for.

"I understand." Marrow replied, nodding slowly. "I will return with one that wields botany." The white wolf promised. "I will return before next summer." He frowned, lifting his head high though his ears and tail stayed submissive.

"... I am Marrow." the white loner replied, waiting for the other to leave. He didn't want to leave before the other male in case he'd miss something important. "Is there anything else, sir?" Marrow asked, watching carefully. How would he track someone with plant abilities? They would smell the same as the forest wouldn't they? Maybe Marrow should look in the lands of other packs, maybe there would be a wolf with botany at other pack borders.

Wait...


"May I ask why,you want a botany wielder?" Marrow asked. "Any information you have will help my mission.."

Fjord smirked as the pure white male accepted the quest. At this rate, Midnight Silence would be strengthened soon. He began to turn away but stopped as the males soothing voice reached his rounded ears once again. Not bothering to turn his head, the Alpha spoke.

"I know of two wolves that wield the power of Botany." Fjord spoke softly, but with a commanding air that any wolf could easily hear. "One is incredibly skilled, but is formidable and the beta of Honovi. Demetrios. He would not be easily contained nor persuaded to do my will." A small grin peeked through his composure as he thought if the second wolf. "The second is the young daughter of Blaise, the Alphess of Secluded Sunrise. She should be easy enough to capture, and her naive mind weak enough to control." Fjord began his descent of the hill before remembering one last detail. "She is a prodigy indeed, yet she does have a weakness. She happens to be a shewolf with three legs, and a broken heart." Fjord was great at gathering gossip, leverage as he called it. Young, broken hearts would be easily taken advantage of. Amora of Secluded Sunrise, would be the obvious choice.

Marrow considered taking the Honovi Beta, he considered it very seriously. But he would no doubt be strong if not stronger than Marrow. And with the power over plants to add to his strength, Marrow might not make it back alive. Though it'd be impressive to take a Beta prisoner, it wasn't wise. Marrow's ears perked at the mention of Amora. Despite being an Alpha's daughter, she sounded like the perfect target.

Marrow bowed his head for Fjord. The information was very useful indeed, and he could play with this "Amora" and her emotions to bend her to their will. Midnight Silence would soon have a botany user and her name was Amora.

"I will return before next Summer, with Amora." Marrow promised. He soon turned and ran off as fast as he could, running for the Secluded Sunrise.
