He sighed as he heard her say. “ Hey, Wolfi…” He heard her pause, “Just... remember that you always have a choice.” He sighed again as he muttered loud enough for her to hear. "Your curious about his name... Aren't you Avery? Well.. His name was Dancer. He did something and someone hired me to do the dirty work." He finished grimly. As he turned around looking her in the eyes as he said again. "I might stay here a bit... It is rather peaceful." He said slightly as he looked around saying. "No battles on who gets what amount of food... No arguing about who gets the dirty work for the week..." He stopped realizing as of how much he had just spilled to her. He growled something under his breath as he got up as saying as he walked by her again. "I'm going to hunt..." He speed his walk up a little as he followed the scent of a rabbit.

Avery’s ears pricked straight up as he uttered the very words she’d been thinking. “You’re curious about his name, aren’t you…?” She paused for a moment, considering, and then gave a small nod. Ave felt a little guilty about wanting to know; how hard must it be to discuss someone whose life you just ended? She studied the ground at her feet, not wanting to look in his eyes as he gave the grim explanation. He stopped talking and she allowed herself to look up again, as Wolfi quickly changed the subject. “I might stay here a bit… It is rather peaceful.” Avery nodded, remembering the peaceful feeling that had come over her upon first entering the clearing. This whole place radiated vibes of beauty and serenity. He continued on, Avery listening with large ears alert. The dirty work, she repeated his words in her mind. “That must be horrible.” She said quietly, trying to imagine what that kind of lifestyle would be like. Always trying to forget about all of the wolves you had killed, while dreading the further murders you would have to commit... The way he quickly cut himself off and uttered a soft, breathy growl was not entirely lost on Avery. It probably wasn't something he was supposed to talk about, especially with relative strangers. “I’m going to hunt…” He announced and started to set off, possibly to try and stop her from prying more information from him, and Ave nodded agreeably; she probably should do the same as well. “Me too.” She said, pushing herself onto her paws, shoulders scraping a little bit on the bark of the tree she’d been leaning against. She lifted her muzzle in the air and breathed in the scents, trying to pinpoint the location of any nearby prey. She got a vague idea of where a couple of rabbits were so she set off, in a different direction to Wolfi; the prey here would be too small for it to be worth working as a team. “Meet back here?” She called over her shoulder before they got out of sight, and then continued to track down her selected prey. Avery was in her element here; hunting was one of the skills she really prided herself in.

"Sure." He said as he saw her go to a different area to hunt. He snarled as he started to chase some rabbits. He jumped, and leaped onto one, stunning it. He growled as he bit into the back of its neck, hearing a snap. He grabbed it by its scruff and Started to walk back to where he had been. He sat down, and started to smell the air for anyone that he knew. He got up again and started to chase another rabbit. He growled in frustration as yet another rabbit got away from him. "And... That's the third rabbit that got away from me again." He muttered grimly as he walked back to where he had been, and sat down his ears shoved forward. He sighed as he layed down his nose a few mere inches away from the one dead rabbit. He liked his brown muzzle and sighed again. He closed his eyes falling into a light sleep. He had to admit, he wasn't entirely the best Wolf for hunting anymore...

Avery silently glided through the trees, making sure not to step on any loud twigs and getting into a rhythm of carefully placing her paws down. As she caught a glimpse of the rabbit she was tracking, she froze and lowered her stance. Ave slunk forward slowly, keeping her body a little closer to the ground, ears pricked forward. A look of concentration had come over her face as she navigated quietly through the underbrush, light brown eyes still set on her target. By this point she was about five meters away from the rabbit, which was still nibbling on the grass, oblivious to Avery’s skillfully concealed form. She took a few more silent, measured steps and got into a position to pounce… Avery rushed forward, clearing half the distance between them in one powerful bound. The rabbit froze for a second, not knowing in which direction to go, and tried to skid out from under Ave as she pounced onto it. No such luck. Ave pinned it down with her fore-paws and quickly reached down, gracefully taking its neck in her mouth and clamping on it. She heard the small crunch that signaled the rabbit’s end, but still shook it a few times for good measure. She licked some of the blood off her muzzle and then picked it up, turning around to return to the clearing. Rabbits were not too difficult to catch, but they didn’t really provide that much meat; Ave kind-of wanted to try her luck with something bigger, perhaps like deer. Another time, she thought as she returned to the flower-filled clearing, dumping the rabbit on the ground. She glanced around; Wolfi wasn’t around just yet, most likely still preoccupied with his hunt. Ave lay down in the soft grass, deciding to start eating her catch. She was pretty hungry, after all.

He woke with a start realizing that he was in the wrong place. Growling under his breath he licked his brown muzzle and picked up the rabbit now hwading to where he was supposed to be. His black tipped tail swayed with the wind as he started to run to the meeting place. He stopped as he saw her by where they were supposed to meet with an embarrassed chuckle he walked towards her saying. "Heh... I got lost- I mean I lost track of time." He stopped taking and put the dead rabbit by her. He layed down not to far away, and started to cloes his eyes. He rested his head on his front paws looking sleepy as he muttered to her. "Night Avery..."

Ave finished off her rabbit and licked her lips, wondering where Wolfi was. Had he used the hunting as an excuse to leave? Had he run into other wolves? She perked an ear, hearing the crunching sound of quick paw-steps. Avery tensed up for a moment, sniffing the air, then relaxed again as she recognized the scent. She glanced up just as Wolfi emerged into the clearing, looking slightly sheepish. "Heh... I got lost- I mean I lost track of time." He fumbled, and Avery raised an eyebrow in response, a subtle smile forming on her maw. “Of course.” She said, letting a quiet yawn escape her lips. Ave was starting to feel a little tired, and the night wearing on. “Night, Wolfi…” Ave said in response, shifting into a more comfortable position, resting her muzzle on her paws. Her gold-flecked eyes slowly drifted shut, and she let out a soft, relaxed exhale as she fell into a comfortable sleep

He woke up a few hours later as he heard a Wolf say. "Psst! Over here Wolfi!" He got up quietly, and walked over slaming the rathr loud asssian on the ground as he said in a low growl. "Why are you here..? And don't go killing her... She is a friend." He saw the other assians nod his head as let him up. "My mission is complete... Tell the boss that." He saw the assians nod his head again and run off, he growled something under his breath as he layed back down with a sigh, and looked at Avery. His green, and blue eyes sparkled as he closed them falling into a light sleep. While muttering. "I promise to keep you safe Avery... I always will find a way to... even if saving you is the end of me." He smiled in his sleep for once dreaming of something happy as he breathed in her sweet scent.... ((Sorry for the wait XD ))

(( Das oki ^^ Also, I’m going away again so I won’t be posting for another couple days; soz :C It’s kinda the camp-y time of year where I am ))
Avery shifted restlessly in her sleep, rolling onto her side. The hushed voices nearby didn’t quite manage to wake her up, but instead inserted themselves into her dreams. She replayed fragments of the day in her head, hearing the sickening thud of the wolf that Wolfi had killed, echoed by the sounds of him slamming the newcomer on the ground in real time. She whined quietly in her sleep, paws twitching, and an uneasy feeling washed over her. “My mission is complete…” Her mind echoed as Wolfi spoke. She buried her face into the soft grass as a cool breeze ran through her fur, shivering slightly.

(( OK then blackwinter! That's fine! Though I'm not in Summer yet. Lol))
His ear twitched hearing her whine. He sighed knowing what it was possibly about. He shuffled over to her a bit, then shuffled beside her. He placed his tail over her backside, then he placed his paws near hers.
He layed his head over her neck, as he drew her head to his chest, with a steady heartbeat. "It's fine Avery.... Everything is fine.... You're safe, and... You're safe is all that matters...." He continued with the steady stream filled with words of comfort, as he kept his eyes open watching throughout the night. If a owl hooted he tired not to growl as he kept his head on her neck. Her short furred head against his chest as he stayed up the rest of the night.

(( I'm back! ^.^ Also, I think Ave and Wolfi should possibly go on a hunt sometime :3 Like in the plains. Idk. What do you think? ))
Avery felt warmth pressed against her side as Wolfi shuffled next to her and her eyes fluttered partly open, lashes brushing against his chest. She yawned sleepily, burying her head into his warm fur, hearing the faint thumping of his heart-beat. She knew she shouldn't be trusting him so openly, considering what kind of wolf he was. But, then again, a part of her wanted to take the risk... and besides, she was too sleepy to care. Ave drifted off again, into a light doze. Later, Avery awoke to see the clearing bathed in the soft golden light that signified that morning had broken. She blinked a couple of times, and stretched her front paws out. She was acutely aware of his head resting on her neck. "Hey, Wolfi?" She said softly, her light brown eyes slowly clearing from the residual blurriness of sleep. "Are you awake?" She squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, the brightness of the sun's rays a little overpowering for her sleepy gaze.

(( Sounds good XD )) "Huh..?" He muttered a bit sleepily then yawned saying. "Ya... I'm up." He raised his head off of her neck his blue and green eyes looking both tired, and hiding something, like a painful memory. He sighed as he kept his head up and sniffed the air, trying to stop a big yawn from coming out, only to have it come out, he then yawned a bit loudly. He licked his brown muzzle and looked around sniffing the air once more. He stretched his back legs, and removed his tail from the bottom half of her. He sighed again, this time his sleepy eyes looking sad, as he remembered a night, very much like this one, with his old mate, that was now dead.

Avery's ears flicked as Wolfi gave a sleepy reply, and felt the warmth of his form dissipate as he drew away. She didn't really want to get up, but she knew she'd have to face the day sooner or later. Anyway, she was keen to get out of the forest and scope out the kinds of prey the plains would offer. Ave shifted away from Wolfi then pushed herself to her paws, shaking her coat to even out the fur that had been flattened underneath her. Avery wasn't sure whether she and Wolfi would be parting ways here. She shuffled a few steps back and tilted her head at Wolfi, a thoughtful frown on her face. She then quickly glanced down at her paws, unsure if she should say what was on her mind. He was the closest thing she'd had to a friend in a long time, but didn't want to be a burden to him if they chose to travel together for a little while. Plus, she wasn't sure if she could deal with all of the killing... She let a small sigh escape her mouth, still looking at her paws. "Wolfi..." Ave began hesitantly, unsure how to start. She looked up at him, her large gold-flecked eyes full of uncertainty. "I'm gonna be heading to the plains next, if you were going to... if you wanted to, y'know..." She trailed off awkwardly and shifted her paws. Way to go, Avery... She thought to herself, cringing inwardly. Could she be any more awkward?

He paused thinking as he got up. He closed his eyes thinking about his job, he muttered very quietly under his breath as he walked over to a bush. "I'm quitting my job... That's final." He said in a low growl to a wolf hidden in the bushes. He glared at it seeing the wolf flee. He then turned around and said with a light smile on his muzzle. "Sure Avery. I would like to go hunting with you..." He paused about to say something else to her then thought better of it as he thought to himself. Don't ruin the friendship you have with her Wolfi... Besides... it might be best if you only stayed friends with her, instead of asking her to be your mate... His ears lowered ever so slightly at the thought of him not having her willed and free-willed spirit as his mate. He lifted his ears back up and smiled slightly remembering the words he had said to her in her deep sleep as he watched over her last night. I now know that... I love you Avery.... He knew that she had probably heard something else. He shook the thought away quickly and looked at her grinning, as he pranced around her, his black tipped tail in the air.

Avery's ears flicked back as Wolfi stood up and walked off, muttering quietly under his breath. Her light brown eyes reflected surprise as she began to over-analyze what she'd just said, wondering what had set him off. She observed as he reached a bush, spoke a few indiscernible words in a low growl, and perked her ears back up as she saw a flash of another wolf scampering off. Ave's expression turned to shock, then she frowned. Had they been there the whole night? She was snapped out of her thoughts by a smiling Wolfi. "Sure, Avery. I would like to go hunting with you..." He trailed off, looking at her as if he wanted to say something else, then decided the better of it. Avery tilted her head questioningly, but suddenly he had a silly grin on his face that she couldn't help but returning. "Race you to the plains?" She said, pawing at Wolfi playfully with a challenging smile.

"Anytime!" He said growling playfully as he started to run to the plains, and looking back at her a few times his thick furred chest heaving as he growled playfully yet again, and started to pump more energy into his legs as he started to run faster only to have it end not to soon after that burst of energy. He panted as he started to slow down now feeling the full pain of that males attack from yesterday as he tired to keep the smile on his face hiding the evident pain from her. he growled saying. "Woo! Hoo!"
