FierflyEclipse: Eclipse sighed, his breath misting in the winter air. His dark/white/gray fur coated in snow and eyes alert in the moonlight. He looked back at Fierfly. He smiled, and looked at the moon. He would ask her, here. He nosed in the snow, and exposed the ground and lillies. He willed them to grow again, soon there was a patch of glowing flowers. "Fierfly?" he asked, now being alone with Fier after (Somehow) losing Azeral. Eclipse smiled at the beautiful she wolf with him. He looked up at the moon, and wagged his tail. I love her, more then anyone of anything. He wagged his tail, swishing the snow. His blue-gold eyes glinting brightly.

Fierfly:
Winter was so enchantingly mysterious. Cold and bleak and dreary after three warmer seasons of color - but so beautiful in its own way. The swirling, falling, flying, soaring flakes of diamond white crystals in the air. The Mountains tinted gray and blue against the skyline - capped with silver like a wise mage watching over the Valley. Now she could see silver, and violet and black and blue from the bright light of the moon shining on the pure white blanket before them.
Slender stalks dotted the field they were in and they'd descended to investigate. Eclipse nosed a patch free of snow to reveal a frozen gathering of wild lilies - a kind she had never seen before. Eclipse concentrated and more began to grow beside the frozen ones. Living and frozen - a beautiful contrast.
"Hm?" her wide blue eyes were fastened on the magic before her - the snow, the moon, the lilies and Eclipse. She looked up at him with her innocent, wonder-filled expression, waiting expectantly for the rest of his question.

Eclipse: Eclipse looked at his paws, steeled his nerves, and asked, "Fierfly, will you please be my mate?" before he lost his nerve. His blue/gold eyes meeting her bright blue ones. He bit his lip as he waited nervously. Snow started to fall, and he felt a flake fall on his nose. He curled his tail over his paws and his black/white fur became freckled even more and the romance of the moment made his skin flush. Eclipse was about to burst with anticipation and worry, so he looked up at the blue eyes that he had fallen in love with and spent a long time with. Please let her say yes.....

Fierfly:The young she-wolf felt her eyes go so wide she wondered if they might pop. Her whites were probably more visible than the vibrant blue by now, but...she blinked and scrunched her eyes tight. Had she heard him correctly? His mate?? Was she sane? Had she eaten something poisoned? What...by the Mountain...was happening? They'd traveled together with a couple of others like Azi and Azrael for nearly a year! She had never noticed...anything from Eclipse. He'd been protective of her and polite, but...he loved her? She truly did not know what to say as the moon was slowly covered and a soft snow began to fall, dotting and freckling Eclipse's handsome black half and melting into his white. She willed herself to say something...anything...but her mind was as blank and whirling as the field they sat in, she couldn't think of anything to say. She couldn't think. He loved her? Obviously, she must stop asking herself that if she wished to get anywhere as far as answering his question. He's proposed hadn't he? Wasn't that proof enough? Obviously. But did she love him? She could feel herself blushing and she peered up at him bashfully. Did she? Her heart was racing now with uncertainty. She had no idea what love was. Eclipse was the first who had ever said such a thing to her. She appreciated him, he was a wonderful friend...but what was love? Azi had used to tease her about handsome male wolves, Eclipse was handsome certainly, but that couldn't be all that there was to love, could there? She felt slightly overwhelmed and confused, she swallowed and hoped this would not rub her dear friend the wrong way. She almost choked the word out: "Eclipse..."

Eclipse: Eclipse felt his muscles tense as he waited. His ears were so far back, they were barely visible. "I nevr told you because I wasn't sure if... If..." Eclipse couldn't finish. He hadn't been sure if he was sure. He had fallen in love with her, but he was having second thoughts. She was going to say no. He looked at his paws, knowing the end of the sentence. She would say no, and that would be the end of that. He didn't look up, and knew that she was going to say 'no.' There was little question, but he started talking, admitting what he had intended to tell her that night the previous winter. "You are the most amazing, brave, and beautiful wolf I have ever met. You... You changed my life. I just have never been able to get up the courage to tell you." He looked up at her blue eyes and gave her a half-hearted smile.

Fierfly:
Eclipse continued to murmur an explanation quietly. Her ears were pricked, focused, listening - trying to listen anyway, her mind was still whirling. The flames on her back and legs seem to become alive and real as she felt her blood grow hot in a flush of embarrassment, quiet pride and gratitude but...resentment. Nothing he was saying was true...nothing he said about her anyway. How could he just stand there and say such things? Such horribly untrue things?? Amazing? Hardly, she was mousey and shy, clumsy when she was nervous and constantly stuttering, she wasn't fast or strong or even confident, she was average - less than average, she was nothing: if she could have remained invisible her whole life she would have. Beautiful? She cringed to think of how they'd first met - Azi was trying to clean her up - her mussed, scruffy spring coat still burned and stained from the wild-fire she'd run from and she'd reeked with smoke. To this day her sleek, thin, messy coat never seemed to look truly presentable. Brave? Oh brave...why did he have to say brave? She was like a startled deer - she'd run or cower at the first sign of trouble. She was weak and flighty and scared so often she was just so scared. The other lies weren't so bad, she might have been able to believe that he believed them if she tried. He could call her anything, he could believe anything about her that he wanted, anything, but she wasn't brave. Eclipse was brave. He was fearless, he could protect her, he was brave enough to say he loved her - he was brave. She was nothing.
"I'm," she halted, hesitated, unsure and suddenly very afraid and confused. Tears began welling up in her eyes. "Eclipse...I'm not good enough for you."

Eclipse: Eclipse touched his nose to her's. "Funny, I think the same thing about you. I don't deserve a wolf like you, a sweet, fiery wolf like you." He smiled at her, gold/blue eyes meeting her blue eyes. "If you weren't amazing, you would never have come to the valley and survived. If you weren't beautiful, you would still be to me. If you weren't brave, you wouldn't have stayed in the valley." He said, and as he spoke, he knew it was true. "Besides, any wolf that can stand up to Azi's pampering is brave. She was really, really prissy. Remember?" He smiled, and he hoped it would make her smile. Her crying was making him a little nuts. He then tried to give her a wolf hug. To assure her that he loved her.

Fierfly:
She started trembling at his gentle gaze and warm voice. As he tapped the tip of his nose to hers she almost sat down with surprise. Good glory...he was serious!!! What in heaven and earth was making him do this to her? Why did he have to love her? Her heart began pounding as he re-affirmed all of his previous statements, trying to combat her denial. "No! Oh please no Eclipse, don't make this any harder than it has to be." The tears began to fall, began to stream for a moment - she got a hold of herself and curbed them, but the trails were already there - burned into her fur for Eclipse to see. As he reached out and hooked his paw around her shoulders she ducked her head and wriggled back, her ears were now against her skull, paws dancing anxiously.
"Eclipse please don't do this." she begged, "Don't say such things please! I am not 'amazing', I am not strong or fast or smart or anything. I didn't survive, you were there, Azi was there. You took care of me, I did nothing. Azi was beautiful...I am not." Azi had never said that Fierfly wasn't beautiful, but she certainly felt dwarfed by Azi. She'd been forward, confident, as had Eclipse - this new, tender, pleading side of himself was strange to her and she didn't know how to react. "And I am most definitely not 'brave'. The Valley is all I had left, no one was waiting for me if I ever wanted to go home, it was the Valley or nothing. All those times on my journey here I ran. I'm always running. Eclipse I'm not brave, I'm scared. I don't know what's going on, I don't know how to feel, what to say." She lowered her head. "You deserve better than a coward," two more tears carved their ways down her cheeks. "Please don't make me hurt you Eclipse - I don't want to...but...I can't give you anything. I am a coward, I'm afraid, I'm a burden." Here came the bitter truth: "I'm not good enough for you."

Eclipse: Eclipse bowed his head, but noticed that she was crying. "You don'y need to give me anything. You are lovely, and modest." He looked at her with a smile. Then he noticed she was crying. He felt bad as soon he saw that. His gold/blue eyes went wide, and he wanted so bad to wipe away her tears. The fact that she was crying was making him nuts. "Fierfly, please, don't cry... I hate it when you cry." He sat down, and bowed. "Please Fier, your the one thing that makes me happy." He was on the edge of crying. He looked up at her with puppy dog eyes.

Fierfly:
His pleadings and gentle assurances made her cry harder. "I don't deserve you," she whimpered, "Eclipse you are probably the best friend I have ever had in my life. You've done so much for me. Please...don't do this, to yourself or to me. I feel so torn..." she furiously scrubbed the tears on her face dry and forced them back down, the least she could do was spare him some pain. "I want to help you, I want to make you happy...but I need some time to figure myself out. I don't know what any of my feelings are right now, I'm so confused..." her heart ached seeing his sad, puppy-face. "I don't want to hurt you, and I want you to know that we'll always be friends...but...I need some time to figure this out."

Eclipse: Eclipse bowed his head, respecting her choice. He gave her a smile, and got to his paws. He started walking away, hetro-coat blowing in the wind. He looked back at Fierfly, and said, "When you are ready, you know how to find me." Then he turned away, tears tracing his fur. In a pawprint, he left a red rose. As his silhouette disappeared in the snow, the rose quivered, not made for the winter. The lilies still glowed, but softer. Then, Eclipse was gone, or maybe he had just turned his pale white side to where she had been sitting. ~Exit Eclipse~

Fierfly:The sad expression was overwhelming - he was breaking her heart! Why? Why did feelings have to be so complicated?! She couldn't stand this - she couldn't stand to hurt him, why did this have to happen?? He forced up an accepting smile and nodded, accepting her answer. "When you're ready, you know how to find me." he stood, turned and walked away. He didn't look back. A single, frail red rose and dimming lilies were all he left in his wake - as he turned his back on a blazing-coated she-wolf, eyes pooling with tears. The snow started falling more thickly and the wind picked up. She got one last glimpse of Eclipse, but with a new burst and swirl of flakes from the sky, he disappeared, white side blending with the snow and then into nothingness. Her lip quivered once, then she collapsed into the snow and began to sob. Why? Why did this have to happen again? She was alone again - she'd lost those she cared about to fire and snow - could she not trust anything anymore? Could she not tentatively share her heart without it getting crushed by a storm? It hurt too much to be alone. She'd rather die than face it again. She couldn't take it! But nor could she find the strength to move. So she lay there, sobbing until her head pounded with ache with violent chokes of tears and until her face was warm and the rest of her lay cold and forgotten in the snow. Looking down she frantically scrambled back, a few crushed frozen flowers lay where she'd rested. They looked like how she felt, rejected, crushed, frozen, and alone. She hated to be alone. -Exit Fier-
