( Blood ) Stormstar[/font] Storm had been chasing that deer for miles. As she dragged it's limp carcass along, her useless leg dragging in the snow. Blue eyes knowingly scanning the barrens nervously. The last time she had been here, she had left with the limp. The snow swirled around, in wonderful patterns and shapes. She stopped, the wind blowing her shedding coat every which way. Her blue eyes scanned the slowly whiting out conditions. Her dark fur stood out in the snowy whiteness, almost unnaturally so. Then she picked up the sent of another wolf, and blood. Fear sized her, for that was the sent of the ones she never wished to see her or her family again. Fjord and Midnight Silence. She dropped the deer in the snow, and stalked closer. She needed to check if it was one of them, or a victim.

Thud, thud, thud, each heartbeat seemed to be getting slower and sloweras the sound of blood rushed through his ears in a rythemic ghastly noise. Vivid images played on a looping mental video that repeated pictures of blood covered wolves ripping at eachothers throats and necks, trying to destroy eachothers bodies. Flesh flinging through the air and the scent of death hanging thick over the battle field as three packs ragged in war. Red stained fangs slashing in every directon, and then the clearest image of his father being tackled by a dark wolf. Blood flung and angry snarls echoed as Zalex slayed his opponent and rushed to assist his father. An unforgettable voice snapped out as the Alpha looked at his son with pleading eyes. "Go! Leave this land and flee! Bring only the respect I have taught you."
That voice rung in Zalex's head that throbbed with pain and heartbeats as his heavy paws crunched over the snow leaving red prints. His running had turned into trots and then a walk as his adrenalin was draining, and his natural endorphins were dissipating, yielding mounds of pain that stabbed at his muscles and neck. In all the commotion of battle, Zalex didn't realize an oppotent had raked his fangs from the base of his left ear, down the side of his neck and to his shoulder. The wound was very deep and still fresh, as blood leaked in a steady flow down his shoulder, foreleg, and soaking his paw that dripped a trail of red wherever he walked.
Zalex only knew that he had to keep going, but his vision began to blur and his steps started to trip up in an effort to keep the same pace. Despite his need to keep speed, he slowed and began swaying in movement to walking. His father's voice shouted louder in his head as his whole body grew numb with pain and he saw a dark hole begin to open up in front of him. Shaking his head in an attempt to clear it, the battle beaten male pressed on, determined not to succumb to the darkness. Despite his will, Zalex's mind struggled to think clearly and he felt himself falling forward into the black hole that loomed before him, meeting him with the feeling of tranquility and then darkness...

Stormstar: Stormstar found a bloody, nearly dead wolf. She stopped dead, her blue eyes wide as she looked at him. He was handsome, but the blood soaked fur turned what she guessed was brown fur dark red. She put her kind on a track, and in order not to think about what may have happened to the male, she thought only about helping him. First thing to do was clog the wounds with snow. It was what she had done with her wounds after her fight. She packed the spring snow into the long wound, and did as much as she could for him. Storm looked at him after she was done with covering him in snow. He was a handsome male, with brown fur. She knew few wolves with brown fur, she herself was a mix of greys and black. She didn't know what color his eyes might have been, but she was guessing some shade of green or gold. Grandma had said that the few wolves she knew that had more browner coats. She almost opened one of his eyes, but stopped herself. She would find out when he woke up. Would she want someone peeking under her eyelids to see what color her eyes were? Nope, so why would she do that to someone else?
Storm sighed, and settled down beside him. She needed to keep him warm, as the snow seemed to have forgotten that it was almost summer. It was getting colder, and she knew from experience that when it got cold at sunset, the night would be cold as a icy river. Besides, he was someone. She could share her deer with him, and take him back with her if he wanted to come along. She would never... Maybe she would? Her mind started trying to remember the last place she had seen a vine. If he was the kind of wolf she liked, she may just do what her sister had done and tie him up with a vine. Wait a second, you are NOT pulling a Halo. You don't even know him! She sighed, laying her head down on her paws and falling asleep, her dark body pressing close to the male's.

Zalex:
Shadows passed slowly by in the river of his mind. Images clouded by darkness drifted like mist on a moonless, continually playing on a silent string. They were not evil images, but rather memories, memories that were peaceful and serene, memories that had been captured of the blissful past.
Gray shadows of wolves leaped through a mossy ravine, gay smiles showed bright fangs and lulling tongues as Zalex and his two sisters played tag. That memory was soon wafted away like a vanishing fog and replaced with another.
A colorless sunset spread out over the horizon of a vast forest, two great wolves sat on either side of the young prince. Sweet mother eyes looked down at Zalex as she spoke soundless words then he turned to his father. He also spoke, silent and gray, but then a shadow grew, and dark red blood began to pour from their moving moths and blinking eyes until Zalex began to drown in it. Pain became greatly noticeable as he struggled to stay alive. Pain, pain, PAIN!
A slight twitch jerked his body, and his eyes flashed open. Fire erupted in his neck as he lifted it and swung it around. "Argh!" He grunted under his breath as he organized his thoughts. 'War, fighting, papà...' "Papà!" A hoarse bark came out as Zalex remembered the three pack battle he was in and his father he was running to help... wait, there was a wolf right next to him. Adrenaline rushed through his muscles as he snarled stiffly, clicking his fangs and leaning away. In an instant he was prepared to leap to his paws and menuve a strike, but his entire torso was lit with the fires if hell and the pain if it was almost enough to make him fall into the darkness again. His gray ears laid back and his nose crinkled up in a maniceing threat, but he physically could not stand and he toppled over to his right side. If he couldn't stand and fight, than he had to at least defend himself on the ground, and kept his teeth and claws ready. Sharp blue orbs filled with pain, excitement, and pupils dilated to almost specks darted in calculation of the scene, but there was only one wolf, a she-wolf to be exact, with blue eyes.

Stormstar: Storm shot awake when the wolf beside her twitched. She looked over, her blue eyes wide as he flopped over. "Hey! Stop that your going to start bleeding again dummy." Storm growled at him, but when he started growling she stopped being so harsh. "Stop growling, I'm trying to help you. My name is Stormstar." She looked over the young male, and saw he had blue eyes like her. She shuffled to her feet, bad leg dragging in the snow. "So, once you stop growling at me, could you tell me your name?" She cocked her silver head, black, rimmed silver ears flopping over a bit. Her black tail wagged a bit, as she watched the male a bit.

Zalex:
Pain seized his actions as the young male tried to keep his focus on the other body near him which growled back at him. The wounded prince flattened his ears and his brows furrowed even deeper from the pain as he gruffly spoke, "What do you want stranger lobo (wolf)" With the silver faced she-wolf's reply, Zalex finally let his head down but still watched her from his peripheral vision as she hobbled to her feet. "Siñorita Stormstar." He mumbled in a pained grown. She seemed nice since she hadn't harmed him yet, but he still didn't know her, and was she injured as well? "Have you followed me here Siñorita Stormstar?" Slowly the pain in his neck had subsided to a dull throbbing as he lay completely still, his eye only made sudden movements as he looked her over from his angle. Huskyer build for a female, gray fur, white tipped black ears and an almost sinister black star cut into her chest, if not by her actions and words, he would have classified her as evil. Suddenly the chica asked what his name was, and he answered in a raspy voice, "I am called Zálex. And pardón Siñorita, where do you come from?"

Stormstar: Stormstart smiled as she sat back down. "I saw you here, and you looked like you needed help." She sat back down, silver rimmed ears perked and her demeanor calm. "No, I was simply passing through on my way back to my niece Aurelia. If your hungry, I have some food." She found herself at ease with him around, so she lay back down. He couldn't hurt her even if he wanted, but he seemed to not really want to hurt her. She was fine with that, she was not really in fightng shape at the moment either. She looked up at his next question. "I'm from the valley, down by Wildwater Falls. My father was born in the Wildflower Clearing, but my grandmother came from the mountains." She looked whistfully to the mountains, lost in thought for a few seconds. Then she inquired, "Were are you from? I've never heard an accent such as yours, or seen a wolf with a pelt like you. The only colors of wolf I've ever met are grey, white, black, silver, red, or yellow." She smiled when she said 'yellow', remembering her brother-in-law Treble. He had been fun to have around, just she had been a jerk to him. The least she could do to repay that... No! No wandering thoughts. Keep your mind on Zalex.

Her soft calm voice played in his ears as Zelex listened to Stormstar speak. Gradually his tensed muscles relaxed, and only the pain from his injured neck and frozen paws lingered. The silver and gray female showed no intentions of harming him whatsoever, and the large he-wolf actually felt reassured by her presence as he lay on the cold ground prisoner to his own pain.
She must be part of a family or pack if she had a niece and food, loners hardly spoke of such things, especially not sharing food. Zalex didn't want to burden her or any family members if she needed to get to them or feed them. Suddenly Stormstar laid down, and the brown male's thoughts changed. She apparently had need to get anywhere in a hurry, but he still declined her offer. "No gracías, I am in no need for food." Truthfully he spoke, for his stomach was not yet voicing its hunger, because it was still cramped from the vigorousness of the battle he recently fled. Casually she continued to talk about this "valley" where she had come from, and the rest of her families' origins.
A shiver rippled through his body as the cold seeped past his thick fur, and the pain returned with a blow. Wincing but trying not to make it noticeable, Zalex watched as the she-wolf's head was turned towards the mountains. With discomfort in his voice, the injured male answered her question as well as he could. "I come from beyond the montañas (mountains), norte (north) I think." The conversation soon became a little more interesting to Zalex when Stormstar mentioned his accent. He had noticed that she spoke a little different than what he was accustomed to in his pack. Soon his mind was distracted from his pain and he went on to tell this blue eyed chica about his life.
"Wow, colorful. My pack shares a lot of the same color traits, mainly marrón (brown) tan and gris (gray). Except for one of our enemy packs, which harbored a lot of blanco pelted wolves, and the other enemy pack's members consisted of mostly marrón and gris wolves. My acento you speak of is spoken by many wolves of my pack, however, it also is a mark of my lineage and blood. My papá, grandpapá, and my great granpapá all had the acento which signified the valiente (brave) and respeto (respect), all of which led my great pack." Harsh breaths seized Zalex's chest as his lungs ached from the exertion of uttering that many words. He closed his eyes and grit his teeth, bearing the pain and cold with his true brave heart.

Stormstar: Stormstar was in utter awe. "I have never met a wolf from outside the valley! What is it like out there, do you still have the White Wolves? Do you know about this place?" She bombarded the questions quick and fast.As she was not hungry at that moment either, she let the food topic drop as well. She smiled at him, long white teeth glinting. Then he started to talk about his heritage. She listened with wrapped attention, her head cocked as she listened. He was prideful, and she could understand that. She was prideful herself. She actually had a slight ego, but she didn't say that. He had started wheezing.
"Whoa! Zelax, take deep breaths. You need to breath, and these wounds are not something to be shrugged off. Trust me, I tried to shrug of something about as bad as this." Storm's leg twitched, and she went back to work clogging his wounds with snow. Then once he was nice and covered, she said, "You might need White Magic. For now, rest, brave one." She smiled with one side of her mouth. Then, she sniffed the air. Oh, why do we have to be so close to here! She wanted to drag Zelax away from here, it was far too close. Too close to her own battleground, to her foe who she had barely defeated with four good legs and all by herself. She could not do it again with a injured wolf to defend. "Zelax, we might need to move you away from here," Anywhere in the barrens, anywhere in this part of the valley was too close. Fear was sizing her now that she was thinking about it. Her breath got heavier. "It.... It's really close to..." Why can't I just say it?! She had to stop thinking about it! Storm shook her head, but the fear remained. Images were flashing before her eyes. Halona, bloody and dead. Treble, his side ripped to shreds by rocks. Little Aurelia, coated in her and her parent's blood. Storm's own leg, crushed and disfigured and bloody. Her grandmother's leg torn clean off, her father's face. She couldn't take much more of this. She had to get away from here! Then she glanced at Zelax again, and she saw a wolf who needed help. Her help. Taking deep breaths, she managed to calm down on the outside. Her eyes still flicked around, waiting for someone to come out of the snow and attack.

Zalex could see the interest and excitement on her face as she continued to ask questions. Respectfully he answered them, he wouldn't decline a conversation with a she-wolf, that was not respetuosa. "Siñorita Stormstar, my land is abundante y muy verde, but some of our neighbor lands are not so." Another wince lifted his lip and showed his fangs clench as he looked up at he bright smile and asked, "Lobos Blancos? Are you meaning the goddesses of the lost valley? They are only perrito tales. I have nunca been beyond the boarders of my land."
Again harsh breaths came, and the silver faced female suddenly reprimanded him for speaking and told him to rest. His sharp blue eyes caught her distorted front leg and he asked with concern in his voice, "Siñorita, are you injured as well?" Stormstar seemed only to want him to rest as she came closer and pressed snow onto his wounds. The cool sensation relived the fire in his muscles, but with each touch he bit his tongue. A taste of blood was in his mouth, but he was paying no heed to it as he watched her glowing ojos. 'brave one?' An image of his madre entered Zalex's thoughts as Stormstar worked over him.
An uneasy feeling had begun to touch the large brown lobo as he realized it was coming from the she-wolf. She was uncomfortable, and he didn't know why, but then she stood and spoke, and verbalized what she was feeling. Was this place unsafe, did he need to get back up and fight again? Either way, Zalex knew he had to stand sooner or later, so why not get it over. A deep rumble had smuggled into his throat as he slowly lifted his head and moved his forepaws closer to his body. With sliding movements he inched his back legs underneath his rump, and biting the growing pain, Zalex leaned his upper body and head forward. The rumble had increased to a strained growl that escaped his gritting teeth and came out with a sharp bark as he willed himself to his paws with a small hop. Pain burned in every inch of his body, but he held himself up and with stubbornness and flattened ears, he refused to let the darkness take him again. His eyes coneccted with Stormstar's and he saw something in them, something he's seen before. In the eyes of his opponents, in the eyes of the wolves that are about to be slain. Why was she fearing this barren land, was it him? "Close to what? Is refugio near by?"

Stormstar: Storm could barely say their name. "Midnight Silence, the worst pack of all times. Led by Fjord, the Ice King." Her voice was barely more then a whimper. The fight flashed before her eyes, and she stiffled a yelp. It's not real. It's all in my head, Fjord won't seek us out. Her blue eyes flicked to Zelax when she asked if she was hurt. "It's nothing, just old wounds. Can you walk? I would like to not be so close to them, they just got a Alphess and I don't want to meet her." She edged away, her sister's golden, dead eyes haunting her mind as she fought to keep her cool. Her power triggered, and she became a static puffball. Her breathing got harder, everything white became Fjord. You are afraid because you can't defend yourself, much less him. A little voice in her head told her. She tried to calm down more, her labored breaths easing until she was calm. The best thing to do was to take Zelax to White Magic. "So, um.. You said you had heard of the White Wolves? What do you know about them?" she inquired. She was honestly curious, and she needed to get her mind off of where they were. "If you don't think they are real, then we may have a problem because White Magic is the only one I know of who can heal you. She helped me not a season ago with... Nightmares... I had been having. She can heal you." She turned, and set off in her limping gate and left the deer. She could come back for it.

Head low, ears flat, and gray tail droopy as Zalex stood shivering from pain and cold. His ears caught Stormstar's whispers, but he had no clue what or who she was talking about. He would have been more interested if he was in a different circumstance, but the pain was hard to ignore. Wandering over the white landscape for a shelter, the blue eyes rested on the gray she-wolf standing next to him. Despite her size for a female, she still stood shorter than his shoulders. His gaze noticed the fear still in her eyes and her tenseness was evident, proving with a scared cry. "Siñorita Stormstar, calm down. There is nada aquí." Zalex stared at the sliver face and mangled paw a while longer before nodding and taking a few wobbly steps. She spoke some more about random stuff that didn't seem as important at the moment than finding shelter, but maybe that was just his aching body screaming for a taste of comfort.
Zalex cringed from the strong, almost overwhelming sense of fear the emanated from the wolf beside him. Why was she so afraid, there was no way anywolf would be out in the middle of nowhere looking to kill. A small abnormality caught the male's eye as he glanced over at Stormstar, her fur pointing out in every direction making her look much thicker than she ever was. His eyes went wide and he almost yelled, "Aye, cálmese!" Zalex started the trek hoping she would lead and calm down.
After some minutes later the she-wolf asked him some more questions. "They are solo stories and pup tales. My madre told me of them when I was mucho pequeño. No wolf from my pack has seen the blancos goddesses." Zalex pondered what Stormstar spoke of, wondering deeply about this White Magic, but still doubting. "Curado? I think we both need rest. Shelter moust be near." They both hobbled on, Zalex favoring his left front step to help decrease the movement of his shoulder.

Stormstar: Storm nodded, her fur slowly losing the static that had been left when her power had triggered. "Well, I've met two 'blancos goddesses', White Magic and Taboo. Unfortunately for us, the Barrens have little to no shelter. Besides, the faster we get out of here, the further we get from him." She shivered, her ears pressed against her skull. She then glared at him wither signature, 'I will kill you if you don't do what I want' glare like she had used with Treble. She then kept moving, her stocky legs pushing her along in the cold spring snow. I'm such a weakling! Why am I doing this?! I just wanted to get some food for Aurelia, and I pick up a wolf?! Storm was unsure how she was going to feed three of them. Maybe she would keep Aurelia? She could raise Aurelia. Maybe Zelax would like to stick around? Storm had drifted into her thoughts, and she landed on her crushed leg. It buckled, exploding in pain as Storm fell to the ground. Gritting her teeth, it was a bitter reminder of why she had to keep going. "I'm fine, if you were wondering. Let's keep moving. Faster we get there, the faster you can get healed." Fear had loosened it's grip on the she-wolf, and she wanted to get out of here as fast as she could. ~Exit Stormstar~

Zalex did his best to concentrate on the she-wolf's speaking as his powerful legs painfully carried him across the white sea. Stormstar spoke of actually meeting the goddesses, but the male shook his head and thought to himself, 'Na, the chica is still afraid, and that makes her loco.'
With a slow pace Zalex kept in step with the limping female, his mind wandering as they journeyed in silence. He could fend for himself, he didn't need any magical blancos lobos to heal him. Back with his pack, wounds were treated by the healers, or by natural bodily functions. Despite his independent personality, a small doubt lingered in the back of his mind. Would he have survived if this silver-faced, blue-eyed wolf hadn't found him? Her gray form suddenly blurred in his peripheral vision and his head jerked in her directing followed by enormous amounts of pain, to see her picking herself up from off the ground. "Siñorita!-" Stormstar interrupted him before he could say more, and she slowly continued on. Zalex followed cautiously, making sure to keep a closer ojo on her.
-Exit Zalex-
