As Lunaloise wandered through the forest she thought about what great adventures she would have that day. She was still pondering this when she stumbled upon a pink leaf. At first, she didn't take much notice, but something made her look again. She was astounded by the leaf, How could it be pink? she wondered, suddenly she remembered hearing wolves howling about a lovely forest. Or was it a forest of love?, perhaps The forest of love?. She stood up, That was it!. She had heard wolves howling about a beautiful forest called the forest of love, where wolves went to find soulmates. Maybe I'll find some friends there, maybe even someone who'll be more than a friend. She laughed at the notion. That's not your main focus Lunaloise, she reprimanded herself. You need to find friends, wolves you can rely on. But her brain trickled in one last thought, And maybe, eventually, someone to be more than just a friend. She noticed that more leaves had appeared, almost in a straight line, so she followed them. To my new future... -@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@-@- Lunaloise looked up at the trees, the leaves were pink! She had finally made it to the forest of love! She broke through the bushes into a small clearing full of wolves sitting next to each other. For a second, though she didn't realize it, the faint blue markings on her pelt glowed. She sat down next to a tree scanning the crowd for wolves that looked friendly.

Quaci:
‘Why am I here, again?’ Quaci thought to himself as he smiled at the pink trees. He shrugged off the question with a dismissive, ’I don’t know, why not be here?’ This part of the forest was quite pleasant and had an undeniably unique scent. That scent was almost intoxicating. The Power was strong in the Forest of Love. Why it had chosen to create this place, Quasi had no idea. Wolves didn’t particularly need to be pushed into couples. They could do that fine on their own. Maybe it felt nice to have a certain place like this were romance filled the air. Someplace that was frequented by others, so you could meet people, but wasn’t too crowded as to make it impossible to find some privacy.
A pink leave drifted down to rest on Quaci’s yellow nose. He sneezed, stumbling backward with the force of it and straight into a sitting she-wolf. ”Sorry! Quaci barked stepping away from the stranger and whirling around to face the she-wolf he’d bumped into, ”So, sorry about that! I just sneezed and, yeah.” The she-wolf stood at about his height, slightly taller than the average she-wolf. Her fur was light and had faint metallic blue markings that shimmered in the light, seeming to glow. ”My name’s Quaci.”

Lunaloise stood up staring at the wolf that had bumped into her. "It-It's ok" she stammered surprised that she had met someone so quickly. "Qauci", she added, remembering the wolf's name. "My name's Lunaloise, but you can call me Luna." She stopped, hoping she wasn't being too forward, "i-if you wish of course." Why am I acting so awkward? she thought, her markings faintly glowing once again. She decided to talk with the wolf. Who's name is Qauci she reminded herself. "So what brings you here?", she asked, glad to not be stuttering. "To the forest of love.", she added, not knowing why. "I heard about it about it a couple moons after my parents died..." she stated, sadness edging her voice. "But I just came here today", she said, hoping to change the subject.

Quaci:
”Yep, that’s me! Quaci at your service!” Quaci did a playful little bow, then popped back upright. ”Lunaloise, Luna,” Quaci tried out her name and nickname and smiled. ”I guess Luna must be easier to say, but Lunaloise is much prettier,” he thought aloud. Lunaloise seemed a little hesitant in her mannerisms. Was she just shy or was Quaci bothering her in some way?
”So what bring you here?” Lunaloise asked, moving the conversation along. Quaci opened his mouth to responded as she added a ”to the Forest of Love” as if she needed to be sure he was aware of this area’s name and intent. His open mouth formed an ‘Oh’ as revelation struck him. ’Wolves come usually here to find their soulmate. Lunaloise might be here searching for that as well. I literally bumped into her, how romantically clique. She must think that...Well, I won’t mind if… Luna is very pretty and all.’ Luna rushed onward, explaining a bit of background to when she’d heard about this part of the forest.
”I’m sorry to hear about your parents,” Quaci gave his condolences, but quickly bounced back to the question she’d asked. ”I was actually just passing through. The Forest of Love is such a cheerful place, so why not pay it a visit. Besides, there are always pretty she-wolves here though I haven’t really paused to talk to any of them until now.”

"Thank you," Lunaloise said. "And I quite agree, the forest is quite nice. Great for rai..." She paused "Anything really." She blushed slightly, aware of what she almost said. "And I'm glad you're talking to me, I didn't think I would find a friend so quickly." She blushed again, hoping she hadn't just made a mistake. I mean, that's just my assumption, you don't have to be..." She trailed off, trying to think of something else to say. "Would you like to tell me more about yourself?" She asked, hoping that Quaci wouldn't walk away. "Your name is nice as well Qauci" She added, trying to be friendly. "You're very nice," She said "One of the nicest wolves I've ever met"

Quaci:
Quaci smiled as she spoke, deciding that he liked the sound of her voice. Luna suddenly paused in the middle of a word. Quaci wondered what she'd been about to say. ”Great for rain?” or maybe ”Great for rainbows?” That wouldn't make that much sense though. Why would she cut herself off during such an observation? It would seem more likely that she’d begun to hint at something she'd prefer to keep hidden, like a crush or a difficult time in her past. Quaci decided not to prod.
She mentioned him as a friend. Quaci laughed, lightly, as she tried to correct a statement. ”If we’re not friends, yet, I’m sure we soon will be,” he said good-naturedly then added mentally. ’And maybe more, if my assumptions are right.’ She wanted to know more about him. ”All about me? That’s a broad subject, isn’t it? I guess it would be hard to summarize the entire existence and personality of any wolf for that matter. I can try my best to give you a good idea of it, though.” Quaci smiled, brilliantly, ”Guess, maybe I should give ya a bit of my background. There’s not much to say about that though. I had a rather normal puphood with two loner parent and two siblings. When I was old enough, I set out on my own path as did my siblings. I don’t have much contact with them, but I suppose I’ll cross paths with them eventually, but for now, I’m on my own.”
”Hmm… that’s about it. For a bit about me, now… I like to wander. I don’t really think I’d fit in the pack life, but I guess I’d be open to it. I love the forests since I was born and raised in them. My favorite food is duck. I don’t really have any irrational fears to speak of, well not that I know of, at least. I love to laugh and smile and I get a little lonely sometimes when there’s no one to laugh and smile with. So, I get that’s a pretty good bit about me. How about, you tell me about you?” Luna mentioned how he was one of the nicest wolves she’d met. His smile widened. He’d never considered himself a nice wolf, but he definitely wasn’t a mean wolf. ”Really? Well, that’s one of the nicest things anyone’s said to me.”

"Really Quaci" Lunaloise said, confidence creeping back into her voice. "My life is hard to summarize as well, but I'll do my best." Lunaloise paused to remember. "My fathers' name was Jimasun, my mothers' was Suataile. My family always went with interesting name choices. The only relative that lives around this area is my uncle, but I never met him before my parents died. And that's all I know of my family." Lunaloise took in a breath of air and then continued. "I was raised in a nice little area by a waterfall until my father got lost in a snowstorm and my mother drowned." Lunaloise paused before continuing. "I personally love to have new experiences each day, and I love making new friends. I too am not really a pack wolf, but I believe it would be interesting to observe one. I don't really have a favorite food but I do love the taste of squirrel." Lunaloise yawned, looking up at the darkening sky. "We've been talking for a while, I'm getting kind of tired." She said, with another yawn. Lunaloise circled a little before laying down with her head looking up at the stars.

Quaci:
”I guess technically you could summarize life as ‘hard to summarize,’” Quaci laughed, inserting the comment in a pause between Luna’s sentences. His ears pinned with mirth for a second before flicking forward, attentively, to listen to Luna’s life story. At least, she hadn’t been completely alone without her parents. If she hadn’t made a friend in Quaci, she could have sought her uncle out. Quaci felt like wolves weren’t meant to be completely alone. Even those loners who enjoyed their solitude had to have someone they could go to, friends or family. Quaci was slightly surprised to hear that the parent had died to separate events. He’d assumed that they’d both died of the same cause since they were both gone. Looking back, he realized that was a rather foolish jump in logic. Lunaloise moved onto lighter tidbits about what she enjoyed. Her speech ended in a yawn which caused Quaci to follow suit. His maw opened to reveal his dark colored tongue. ”Have we?” Quaci glanced up to see the clouds streaked with the quickly disappearing sunlight and stars twinkling above them, ”Wow, I didn’t realize it’d gotten so late. What time did I so tactfully bumped into you, again? Do you have a den or anything?” Quaci didn’t want his new friend to a cold from the night’s chill.

Lunaloise examined the twinkling lights for a moment more before answering, "I don't know many wolves that can tell time, so I'm not exactly sure." She paused for a minute to think, then lifted her head and looked around the clearing. "If the sun was still up we could put a small stone on that stump over there and examine the direction of it's shadow" She said, indicating the stumps direction with her head.
Luna sat up to contemplate Quaci's other question, "I don't have an official den, but on my way here I passed this enormous tree trunk that was hollowed out. The entrance was pretty narrow but I looked inside and it was huge! It could probably fit at least five full grown wolves." She giggled remembering how she had been walking for just a few minutes when she saw the giant stump. But I was so tired I insisted on sleeping as soon as the first star came out She chuckled a little more, then stood up and emitted another small yawn. "It's right this wayyy." She yawned, heading toward the trail that had led her to the clearing. After a couple of paces she turned back towards Quaci, "That is, if you're okay with it."

Quaci:
Luna responded to his question with a comment about she didn’t know very many wolves who could tell time. Quaci cocked his head, confused. How did other wolves not know how to tell time? It was as easy as looking up at the sky and estimating the sun position. Then you went, ”Oh! Looks like it’s not long after midday,” or ”The sun’s going to set, soon.” Maybe Lunaloise thought he wanted an exact position of the sun. Was there even a system to describe that? If Luna knew about, Quaci would have to see if she could teach him about it one day. Her next comment was something about shadows. Quaci glanced at the stump she’d pointed out before returning his bright pink and blue gaze to her. ”That’s a genius idea! I’ve always glanced up at the sun to determine where it is. But that way, I don’t hurt my eyes trying to look at the sun. We should try it tomorrow!”
Luna then moved onto the matter of a den. She didn’t have one to call her own, but she’d found one on the way into the Forest of Love. With a yawn that extended the last syllable of her sentence, she began to show him towards the den. Quaci hesitated for a second. He’d only intended to check whether Luna had a place to stay, not to stay with her overnight. Many wolves would call it improper for two wolves that might like each other to share a den when they weren’t mates, but Luna said it was a very large den so it wasn’t like they’d be smushed together or anything. Besides, Quaci wasn’t the type to refuse a kind offer of shelter especially when he didn’t have a place to rest other than the wide open outdoors
Luna looked back at him, probably because she’d noticed he wasn’t following. Her words implied that perhaps she’d considered the same stuff that’d just come to him. Now she wanted to check whether he was alright with the whole situation. ”Sure! As long as you’re fine with sharing.” Quaci picked up his feet to follow her. ”Lead the way!” He trotted to catch up with his new friend.
