The pup had fallen asleep near the rest of her pack, in a den under the roots of a tree. She had drifted asleep with the murmur of voices and heavy rain making its way through the forest canopy. There were puddles that had formed in the den from the heavy rain, and when Kai’s eyelids fluttered open, she found she had rolled into a shallow puddle. Her little body shivered from the clammy chill that lingered from the night storm, and she sleepily aroused her body from the laying position.
After falling over a couple of times as she tried to shake the most of the water out of her puppy coat, she finally glanced around sleepily. What had awoken her?
The silence.
Where was everyone? A small knot of panic gripped her stomach and she raced up and out of the den looking around frantically. The scents of her pack mates were not old, but the rain had made them more faint. It was not uncommon for her to wake up alone, she seemed to wake up alone – her sisters sneaking off to make sure they did not wake her. Of course, Kaisra simply thought it as a courtesy, it never dawned on her that it would be an avoidance strategy.
The panic of waking up alone slipped away and mostly she wished there was someone there that she could share her dreams with. She had found the largest grove of flowers and the White Wolves had made her Queen of the Grove! As the misty feelings and images came back, she set forth with her large white paws that were stained with mud. She would find someone!
Mustard eyes eagerly darted to and fro around at the great pine trees in the forest, wondering if everyone was hiding or… what.
“Hello?” There was silence. “Helloooooo?!” Her walk turned into a sort of skip-run, all the way calling out, “Hello?” She felt a little irritation that there was no one when she wanted there to be someone, but she always wanted to there to be someone else. She thrived on other’s energy.
“Hello – oh?” She found that she had come to the Fallen Giant, the location she knew the pack had had meetings. Her mind was distracted for a moment, forgetting that she had been looking for others. Her imagination started to take over, picturing herself on top of the log with dozens of wolves at the base, listening to her and doing as she said. Kai’s clay and tawny tail started to wag fiercely at this idea and decided that she would try- not try, but she would summit the log.
After jumping on her hind legs and clawing at the giant log, she realized she needed to change tactics. Her ashy brown form started to circle to the back of the tree where the roots were. She stood there, calculating a way should could climb up…

Duality rolled and groaned in his own den, set off far from the rest of the pack. He had chosen the far living quarters in an attempt to keep himself secluded, in case his mind went astray. He was sleeping the night away and rolling in a nightmare that enveloped him. It wasn't uncommon for him though, in fact it was a terror he faced each night. Images of the horrified looks on his previous family's face as he brutally attacked them.
That was in the past though... It was time to move on, that's why he pleaded for Perjury to let him into the pack, to give him a second chance. The only stipulation was that he couldn't harm the pack members, more specifically the pups, and even more specifically Perjury's pups.
He eagerly agreed and even asked for Perjury to strike him down if he so much as looked at one of them the wrong way!
His nightmare was soon interrupted by the sound of a pup, calling out and trying to find someone. The gray-blue colored wolf shot up from his slumber, immediately looking around his den. A split colored tail removed itself from between his legs as he stood himself up. Curiously, he'd poke his head out of his own den, only to notice Kai walking alone. "Fresh meat!" Roared an agitated voice in his head. Duality clutched his eyes shut tightly and shook his head around, attempting to push the thoughts from his mind.
"No... I promised myself I'd try and protect this pack... Not fight within it." He thought to himself, drowning out the voices as they argued and bickered within his skull.
Finally, he noticed the pup wandering off to who knows where. Curiously, he'd follow along behind. After all, he didn't want any predators attacking the pup or finding her getting lost in the forest. After all, the rain was diluting the scents of Frigid Plague, and perhaps her nose wasn't skilled enough to find its way home. Unsure, he'd follow along behind Kaisra.
He sat on the edge of the forest while Kai examined the Fallen Giant. Tilting his head to one side, he'd stare endlessly at the pup while she soon started to try and claw her way to the top. "Vulnerable! Attack! GO!" Commanded a voice. For a split second, Duality listened to it. His night black claws sunk into the moist earth and he lurched forward.
Then the images flashed in his head again, of his family that he had harmed. It immediately caused him to retract, nearly stumbling over and falling into the mud. "Why don't you make a friend..? It could do you some good you know." Chimed a voice.
All the while as he battled his inner demons, his irises never once left the pup at the tree. He was wary of himself, but he would still listen to one of the voices and steadily step his way towards Kaisra. "Here." He started in a gruff voice, "Let me help you." The male offered. It seemed he chose to listen to the latter of the two voices.
Without and introduction, he made his way towards the pup and dipped his head down towards her. The larger than average wolf wanted her to climb up it seemed, only to help raise her up to a more stable area to grasp onto. "I... Need this." He thought to himself. Though, never before had he thought of himself kneeling before other wolves, or offering to help them. It was strange, but here he was willing to help the pup.
Once he set his head closer down to her, the familiar scent hit his nostrils. Duality's eyes twitched for a split second as he realized this was one of Perjury's pups! A bit of panic settled into him, but he'd grit down on his teeth, knowing he'd have to find a way around it one way or another.

A half gasp, half yelp was pulled from her throat as the sound behind her startled her. It was a wolf, a duo hued wolf, and he was watching her. In her naïve and shallow thoughts, she did not wonder how long he had been there or who he was. It was somebody!
“Well, finally!” She said with an excited yip, almost imperiously, and he started toward her. Something in her stomach churned nervously as he approached, but she was used to the dark demeanor of wolves that came to live with them. It did not cross her mind that there would ever be a wolf that wasn’t supposed to be there, so she did not question his presence.
Her excitement heightened as he offered a way to the top – anticipating her needs and helping her execute them. In her eyes, in that moment, he was perfect. Nothing else mattered other than getting what she wanted.
“Yes, that will do!” She said without thanks, and placed her paws on his lowered head and proceeded to pull her self up with her claws to his crouched back. Her awkward puppy movements somehow got her on top of the wolf, her tail whipping back and forth in excitement, very possibly hitting the male’s head. Kaisra was no longer a newborn pup – quickly growing, but still small and when she grew older, she would still be short and small. Therefore, making her just small enough to fit on his back, and while she may have been able to turn around on his back, she felt unstable and didn’t want to climb back up if she fall. It wasn’t about making a fool of herself, it was about reaching her goal efficiently.
“Up, up!” She squealed, tail still whipping back and forth, expressing the excitement that was bubbling in her small frame.

While Prospit was sleeping in his den at the redwood dens, Derse went exploring to find others to talk to. His first place was the fallen giant. He climbed up a small tree, and laid down lazily on the lowest branch. He closed his eyes, but angled his ears to pick up sounds. His bright colors made him obvious to others who paid attention to their surroundings. Shifting his posture, he nearly fell off the tree, which would cause an injury. With a yelp he carefully sat himself back into the branch, and he wrapped his long tail to help support him.

For once in Duality's life, he seemed to smile genuinely for a moment. It was almost as if seeing Kaisra's reaction towards him made him happy. However the moment was short lived as he heard a nearby yelp and immediately snapped his head in the direction of Derse. "Gah... What was his name..? Is that one Derse or Prospit..?" He wondered to himself, unsure off the start. Either way, he figured the male meant no harm as he sat back onto the branch.
The thumping tail against the back of his ears reminded him of why he was here in the first place; to build some sort of relationship in the pack. After all, he didn't want to appear as the weird hermit that had voices in his head and was just plain crazy. True enough, he was crazy, but he was trying to overcome it. Perhaps the pup on his back would be able to help him with that? He wasn't too sure.
Before long he raised himself up, placing his fore paws up against the Fallen Giant and doing his best to raise her up to a position that she could get her own footing. "This good enough..? Or do you want a different spot?" He questioned. The gruff voice seemed to soften just a little as he talked to Kaisra, even though he held back some nervousness as the voices idly chatted among themselves in his skull.
"This is a good opportunity for a free meal..." Started one voice, before another interrupted it. "That other wolf is right there! You think he can't see it? Plus what is he to do if he heads back smelling of a child's blood?!" They bickered back and forth for some time. All Duality tried to do was shut his eyes and concentrate on Kaisra, or Derse, wanting to focus on reality instead.

Kai knew she was going to have to turn around and she was assessing her situation when the sounds of breaking twigs surprised her. She had been so caught up in her situation the sound startled her, her body physically reacted with a flinch that traveled from nose to tail. A yip left her body and she found herself crouching and clinging to the male’s back so she wouldn’t fall off – it was a miracle that she hadn’t.
The puppy growled angrily to have been distracted so. “That’s a stupid place to sleep.” She snapped loudly, but said it as if she were talking to herself, or maybe even the wolf under her. Little growls rumbled in her throat as she twisted herself around so she was head to head and tail to tail with her helper. As he propped himself up she crouched again so she wouldn’t get thrown off, and once still she stood up, but kept her head low, feeling gravity pull on her backwards.
His question surprised her, and pleased her – she could get used to having someone like this male around. Many wolves found her demands annoying at best, avoiding her when possible. Perhaps he would also join the others in their mentality, but she would take advantage of it while she still could.
“This is good enough.” She said, sounding indifferent, but her wagging tail said otherwise. Instead of walking up his shoulder, she slunk up his neck and as soon as she reached his head, leapt. Bark went flying as her back legs wheeled to get her the rest of the way. She made it! Triumphant! All by herself! Well, with a little help.
“Hah!” She had almost forgotten the wolf that had almost fallen out of the tree, except his bright coat was loud amongst the earthy tones of the forest. She could see better from her perch on the large fallen tree as well. She rolled her eyes at the wolf acting like a bird, he was not a bird – that was clear. With the other wolf, she didn't feel the need to seek another's attention at the time. Ignoring the wolf in the tree she made her way with a skip like saunter on top of the log, she went to stand on the ledge at the end of it where it was hollowed out. She imagined a pack of wolves under her, she leading them, telling them what to do – oh!
Her mustard gaze sought Duality. “Hey – you…” She paused, for the first time realizing she didn’t know the wolf’s name. “You… what’s your name?” Looking at the duo colored wolf curiously, head tilted to the side.

Derse opened his eyes and looked to find Duality and the smaller pup on him. He chuckled, smiling. "Heya. I'm Derse, your name, little one?" He refused to leave the branch, but he gripped it as he thought he'd fall. "yeah, don't mind little old me, being a doof and laying down in a tree." He glanced behind him, where he came from. "Brother's sleeping right now, so I thought I'd explore." His red orange eyes met Kai, and he grinned. Unslinking his long tail, he waved it around. He yawned, and lowered his head yet again, though it seemed to slip off and hang from the branch.

ZylerThe day was still young, and Zyler sauntered through the foliage until he reached the Fallen Tree. His jade green eyes rolled at the sigh of a pup climbing a tree. Its whining voice annoyed him immediately, why were pups so needy? Zyler stuck his tongue out at the thought of puppies. Then his eyes focused on the bright wolf nestled on a low but thick branch. "Woah you have got to be the prettiest wolf I have seen yet." He actually meant it, but narrowed his brow in case the magenta wolf felt threatened. Zyler was a slender-built male, with a long tail just as the other wolf. Though, the magenta wolf surely had a lengthier tail. "Seriously though, dude." Zyler spoke with sincerity, his sandy blonde face softening as he eyed the annoying pup climbing up the tree. His gaze returned to the red-orange eyes of the other male. "What's you name? You can call me Zyler." He sat down on the ground as opposed to joining the other wolf in the tree. Climbing was not Zyler's strong suit. He enjoyed mountain hikes, or creek crawls, but trees and cliff faces were not his forte. Zyler wagged his tail against the cool earth beneath him, reminding him of the harsh winter that passed. Zyler saw his mother's body next to him on the ground, in cold blood. He whined and scouted away from the tree with haste. Suddenly, he shoved his head on the cool ground and used his paws to cover his eyes. Whimpering could be heard for a moment before he rolled on to his back and cried. Laughter ensued before the sandy blonde male rolled over to his white belly. The petite male stood again and circled the Fallen Tree where the magenta wolf lay. He shook his head, hanging his head low and sighing. "Please don't expect me to explain that..." he sheepishly flattened his ears and avoided looking at the other wolf for a moment.

Duality didn't move at the pup's words, finding out his positioning was good enough for her. Whereas most wolves might've flinched or tensed as her claws dug at them, the split colored wolf didn't seem to react. His pain threshold was higher than most wolves and let him ignore a good deal of pain, of course this was a blessing and a curse. He turned his head away a little as the pup kicked some bark back near his face, figuring he should at least try and avoid getting a splinter in his eyes.
Once Kaisra was up, he'd settle himself back, lowering himself back to all fours and watching up at her. He had turned his head to look back over at Derse, and what seemed to be a newcomer (at least to him) making their way over. His ears would swivel again as Kai spoke down to him, wondering what his name was. "I'm Duality." He answered simply, slowly moving his head around to look back up at the pup atop the fallen giant.
He kept his crazed looking eyes on the pup while his ears turned to listen to Derse, and then flicked as Zyler joined in with his own words. "Ahhh... So it's Derse... And who's this Zyler..?" He wondered just as he heard the wolf breaking off into a whimper.
Immediately, he snapped his head over to look at Zyler, wondering if he was being harmed in anyway. "Hah! Pathetic. He's worse off then you!" Mocked a voice as Duality examined the other male. He tensed up a little and dug his claws into the dirt once again, not entirely sure what to make of it.
Of course it's not like he was one to judge others for random outbursts. He'd continue to do his best to keep his own under control for the meanwhile though, or at least keep any of the murderous voices at bay when he was around any pack members.
"What about you?" He questioned, now asking back Kaisra as to what her name was. As he spoke he'd turn his head back to look up at the pup he had assisted with his expressionless face.

She barely moved her head at the sound of the wolf in the tree. He was being friendly at least, but also being of no use. “You’re not exploring, you’re sleeping, too.” She muttered as he lowered his head, but her thought was interrupted by the new wolf who didn’t seem interested in her and her log. However her chest swelled and she smiled at the sound of "Woah you have got to be the prettiest wolf I have seen yet." This time she fully turned her head, tail starting to sway in excitement, but her reality was crushed when she realized he wasn’t addressing her.
“Hmph.” She muttered. Derse, Zyler, all names- but not to whom she had addressed her question. Her freckled face turned to Duality with her inquisitive mustard eyes. She made a sound in her throat as she was distracted again, getting impatient with the sudden crowd that had gathered, but not all seeking her attention. The wolf named Zyler seemed to see something no one else could, and then… broke down? There was no better explanation for the strange reaction from nowhere…
She felt stunned with the odd assorts of wolves gathered. Perhaps she could get them all to do, as she wanted, there seemed to be no order. Duality’s voice brought her back to her back to earth, eyes looking down at the duo hued wolf. “Duality,” she repeated, trying to remember why she had asked him in the first place. She blinked, everything coming back to her in a whirl – the night, her dream, trying to find other wolves…. Oh yeah!
Kaisra ran in a tight little circle upon the log and then went to the edge again. “Over here, over here, Dual-ty” Her loud tone carried far, mispronouncing his name in her excitement. “I’m Kaisra.” She puffed out her tawny chest proudly. @b10hazard2003 @falconsong

Derse chuckled at the wolves, then stood up and leaped down from the branch. He hit the ground, then shook his fur. His red orange eyes scanned the wolves. "Well, now I am, kid." He sat down, but glanced around as he struggled to think of what his brother could be up to. "He'd better not get into a fight, I'm not going to get my paws dirty again..." he muttered, trailing off at the end. Derse shook his head and looked back to the wolves, smiling. "Although, I do seem slightly stupid for leaving my brother, as he fights more often than not."

Zyler was slightly confused that the wolf he had spoken to did not acknowledge his introduction at all. The sandy blonde male flattened his ears while his green eyes glanced over to the dark blue wolf with strange split-markings on his fur succumbing to the pup's demands. His tail swept the ground behind him while the magenta hued wolf sauntered away from the branch without a peep of his name. Zyler refocused his attention on the male, his ears pricked forward and he turned his body to face the other wolf. "Well, you better get to it. Sounds like you have a big job to do." He rolled his shoulders forward in an attempt to shrug, his hind leg repositioning backward in case the other wolf retaliated. Zyler didn't intend to be confrontational, but he was more headstrong than he knew or would ever admit. He usually forgot how close to the ground he was compared to other wolves in their adult years. And this moment was one of many, as he puffed his chest out and wagged his tail behind him.

The larger than average wolf blinked up at Kaisra curiously, only to turn his head to look at the other two wolves as she spoke. He wasn't entirely there, half in and half out of both conversations at this point as his voices started to pick themselves up again in volume. He groaned a little, until he heard his name again, snapping him back into reality. He swiveled his head to point his nose at Kai before she tried his name again, mispronouncing it and giving him her own name, with a confident chest puff.
Duality seemed to chuckle a bit roughly before figuring he might as well follow the pup, after all it couldn't hurt, could it? At least he knew it wouldn't for him, as long as he didn't harm the alhpess' daughter. Slow as ever, he followed beside the Fallen Giant until he was nearly underneath Kaisra once again. His short tail never seemed to move as he finally seated himself beside the giant tree and cocked his head back to look up at the pup.
"That's... A nice name I suppose... Has a nice ring to it I guess." He said, nearly looking straight up at Kaisra from his current position. He wasn't in the general meeting area for the Fallen Giant, where the wolves would gather and listen to whoever was a top the fallen tree. Instead he seemed to keep himself nearby, not really knowing what all Kaisra might have planned.
Of course, it wasn't like he was going to bend to the child's will! Duality might've been trying to find a bit of a cure for his condition, but he wasn't going to stoop so low as to follow a pup's whimsy. The more vicious voices in his head started to pick up in their volume, spouting various chatter about murder and other such things. The split colored wolf gritted his teeth roughly and tried to ignore them as he lowered his head once more to look at Zyler and Derse.

“You suppose, you guess?”
She asked blankly, blinking at him. Her eyes narrowed, harrumphed a little, watching him carefully. He looked distracted, not paying total attention to her. She chose to believe that, than he found her name unsatisfactory.
“Yes, it does. I am Perjury’s daughter.” She added, as if it added more to her name, which she did believe. Her chest seemed to puff again and she shifted, eying the male suspiciously. It was difficult to concentrate with so much going on. Derse seemed to be disconnected from the scenery, thinking about his brother. Zyler seemed to be uninterested in her presence at either. “Mmm…” She made a noise in her throat then turned back to Duality.
“What are you doing here anyways, Duality?” She asked bluntly, her voice seeming more adult, than childish. She wasn’t sure about this lot, they all seemed odd, or off, or both. Her mustard eyes blazed. The young wolf wanted to share her story, and she would. Kaisra was the kind who asked permission after the action had already been committed.

Derse yawned, and padded a few feet away from the other wolves. His red orange eyes flashed in amusement. "Well, Now I have to go. I can meet up with any one of you if I know where to look." He began to pad to the outer edge, looking away as if thinking of something. He looked back and grinned, swaying his long tail in comfort. "But If you even want to find me or my brother, look for the mismatched wolves side by side!" He yipped as he leaped through the bushes, dissapearing into the forest's grand green scenery.
