Padding up the hill was getting increasingly difficult as I became exhausted and dehydrated. From the last time I had been in these lands I seem to remember an oasis around here somewhere. Although, that was quite a while ago and it's entirely possible I could be wrong. Then I crested the hill and saw it. A small but life giving oasis. I rushed to the water and drank deeply. With my thirst quenched I quickly became sleepy. Yawning, I laid down only intending to rest for a short while, and then I would leave. However, I must have must have been more tired than I thought because when I woke up the sun was setting. I stood up and stretched a while waking myself up fully. Only then did I look around and discover that I wasn't alone. The stranger was watching me, I suppose whatever it was was waiting for me to make a move(or wake up). It wasn't the normal kind of curiosity, it was actually rather disturbing. The wolf was odd in it's coloring but also in the way that it was simply indescribable. There were a million words it brought to mind, yet when you focused on them they were forgotten. Suddenly, the wolf asked me "What are you looking at runt?" For a moment I was stunned at the wolf's unfriendliness. All of the others I had met along the way here had been friendly, down to earth, unassuming,normal wolves. Then again, I don't really know this land and for all I know that may have been odd for these people. Deciding to see if my honesty was a welcome thing around these parts I replied Why you of course, after all there's no one else to look at. The wolf looked stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting that reply, then let out a belly aching laugh."I like you kid. You must be new around these parts. What's your name?" Deciding that volunteering to much information to this wolf was a bad idea I decided to answer a question and take the time to ask her a question as well. An eye for an eye without the death being involved. My name's Maachah. What's yours?

DeSoto;
DeSoto was at the Oasis that day. Though it was Autumn, there was still a lingering heat of Summer in the air, and that afternoon it had brought the dark-navy wolf to the shaded clearing for a drink. His new pack, Frigid Plague, had all but created this land with the Honovi generations ago. Though the Honovi were now all but gone, Frigid Plague still stood strong, and DeSoto was now a welcome member in its ranks. Perjury had all but put a spell on him—she filled his thoughts. Not with lust, nay, but instead with an overarching obsession to please her. To follow her every order.
That day, however, he had not seen his Alphess, and so went off on his own. He had been practicing his gift but slightly (for it wasn't a very subtle power, and he was a very subtle wolf). The white slashes on his chest weren't glowing red then, but he knew they would if he all but called upon his gift from the White Wolf, Geist.
He paused his forward momentum, then. He could hear voices coming from the direction of the water. The powerful, angled male ducked his head and made his way pointedly on until he came in view. He did not know the male, nor whom the male was speaking to. They weren't on any claimed land, so DeSoto wasn't bothered by strangers. He approached slowly, hearing the male introduce himself. His name was Maachah. DeSoto cleared his throat to announce himself, and bent to drink from the other side of the water, but kept his eyes on the unfamiliar male.
— ((Hey there! I'm Meds. I didn't really know who Maachah was speaking to because you just have the one character, but I entered the thread anyway. Just a reminder that we never powerplay at WWM. I doubt that's what you were doing, but like I said I didn't really understand it so I just want to make sure, haha.))

((Of course not. I don't know anyone here. This is because I'm new so I left who I was speaking to open,)) Whipping his head around Maachah stranger. This one was lean with powerful muscles and a thick dark fur. The stranger was also staring at him but didn't appear to be alarmed at the sight of him, which was good. At least he knew that he wasn't gonna try to lop his head off. A wind blew whipping Maachah's dun coat around and bringing the marks on his head and legs into stark contrast. His left back and front legs as well as his right back leg had black socks on them which reached midway up his legs. The white star on his forehead and the royal blue eagle shape on the left side of his stomach made him odd where he came from but allowed him to fit right in here. Maachah wasn't sure if he was on claimed land or not but he didn't think he was. Just to be sure he wasn't invading any pack lands he asked "Am I intruding on your lands? Well this is getting old, a wolf I don't know who I have to make conversation with. He thought he had been getting away from situations like these but apparently not. I'm guessing you heard me say my name. Just in case you didn't it's Maachach. Care to introduce yourself?

Hey there, I hope I can provide some clarification What Meds means by powerplaying is that you aren't allowed to control another character's actions. While you're very welcome to introduce a thread by saying, for example, that your character felt like they were not alone, you cannot create actions and dialogue for a character that isn't yours. Saying that DeSoto shook his head in response to your wolf's question is also powerplaying. There are a number of threads in the travel boards you can read to get an idea of how to RP without powerplay, but I'm afraid we cannot allow the "insert your wolf here" scenario that you created in your first post.

Astral took in a deep, quiet breath, exhaling after only about a second. Her left eye was scarred shut by vicious claw marks, but her right eye was glazed like the water in the Oasis she wandered to. She heard a voice, gladly not the voice in her head. She walked closer to see two male wolves, one with thick dark fur, and the other a Dun color with black socks. Her eye narrowed, but she somewhat relaxed as she looked at the dun-colored male. "Yeah, I don't think we are in any wolf pack territory. The scent is very stale, almost gone." She said calmly, walking into the water, enjoying the relief it gave. She gave her speckled black fur a shake before introducing herself, "I am Astral, I heard that you were Maachach, nice name," She said, ignoring the heat coming up to her face. "However, we do not know your name, care to say?" She asked, staring at the dark furred male.

((Kay sorry.)) Nice to meet ya Astral.Thank you, your name's nice as well. Maachah turned to the body of water and drank deeply. He was tired of talking, tired of being around this place. He was a nomad, a loner. Not really one to mash words with others. He looked at his reflection in the water, a mirror of himself. Sighing he knew that he couldn't just up and leave since that might prompt one of the wolves to follow him. He really didn't need that. He was someone who was used to stopping in one place and then moving on the next hour. He sat down on his haunches and continued staring at the reflection in the water.

DeSoto;
Dark eyes wandered over the tan male, and soon after another sound came to his keen ears. Pawfalls, but light. Perhaps a female? DeSoto turned at the same time Astral entered the clearing, as if he had known she was there—when in reality, he was just very aware. He did not smile. He was not like other Evil wolves, the kind who would snap off your head as soon as look at you. DeSoto's demeanor was more calculation...more cold. The male asked him his name, and the female repeated. He lifted his head from the water and eyed each in turn. After a long hesitation, "DeSoto," He rumbled, his deep voice a perfect compliment to his sharp appearence. His pointed ears flickered slightly, and he bent to drink once more.
So the others were Astral and Maachach. DeSoto finished with the water and lifted his head slowly, so as not to startle either of them. The last thing he needed was for one to feel threatened and attack. He was not in the mood for killing a stranger that day.
"The Oasis is part of a land that once belonged to the Honovi pack, Good." He shifted, sitting down. His sharp shoulders pressed through the skin behind his neck, making the navy fur skew. "My pack, Frigid Plague, Evil, and the Honovi had a pact. An agreement, in years gone by. Recently, however, as Astral pointed out... the Honovi have moved on." DeSoto had never met a Honovi wolf, but even during his short time in Frigid Plague, he had already learned a great deal about them. The shadow of a smile passed over DeSoto's sharp teeth. The male was uncomfortable with this exchange. His sighs and subtle glances made that perfectly clear to DeSoto.

"Hello,Desoto. I'd say it's nice to meet you but its not something I find pleasurable. No offense intended. Trust me its not personal." Maachah was not someone who worried much over small details but he was beginning to get annoyed with this wolf. Desoto acted as though everyone was about to cower in fear of him. However, he hated conflict most of all so he simply took a deep breath and let it go. Both figuratively and literally. Thank you for telling me. It's nice to know some history about the land which I travel across.I'm a loner and travel around a lot so I won't be staying around for long, but it's still nice to know. Maachah noticed that it was getting late, too late to travel. He mentally closed his eyes. Looked like he would be staying yet another night in this place. Either way, he liked it here since it wasn't densely populated like most sources of water.

"Great, sun's going down. Back to cool air." Astral muttered almost to herself, hearing Maachach say that he was a loner and that he moved around from place to place. "I'm a loner, and great stars do I hate other wolves right now." She said almost too cheerfully. Her pale eye drifted to the now faint stars that began to show. "You guys I can deal with, but sometimes..." She trailed off, her face darkening. She sighed and lowered her head to drink, pausing to stare at her reflection, specifically at the scars on her left eye. Astral then broke her gaze and dipped her muzzle into the water to drink. Her eye closed and she lifted her head to lay down. Astral circled a patch of grass then curled up into it, yet she couldn't sleep.

Maachah looked at Astral in surprise as she curled up to go to sleep. He was not expecting her to sleep here tonight but now that he thought about it, it really wasn't surprising. She didn't seem to him as being someone to be in a pack and her earlier statement proved it. Either way her sleeping there didn't bother him in the slightest so long as she didn't try to make chit-chat. Looking up at the rapidly darkening sky again he admired the stars for a while. Looking at Astral again he realized that she wasn't asleep yet which was odd because normally wolves fell asleep almost instantly. Although he could see how it might be a little harder to fall asleep here since there was a cold north wind blowing. Around here the day was pleasantly warm but in the night it was too cool for comfort. The night before he had slept tucked against a rock. This helped both to keep the wind away and insulate heat. Hey Astral, if you want to be comfortable sleeping here, I suggest finding a rock to huddle against for the night. Up to you though.

DeSoto;
Machaach claimed he was a loner and would not be staying here long. He downplayed the rich history of the area, brushing it aside while mentioning that it was, however, nice to know. How patronizing. Did he not understand the history of the Honovi and Frigid Plague went deeper than even his ancestors? DeSoto checked himself. Of course he didn't understand. The navy blue wolf rolled his powerful shoulders and kept ahold of his irritation. Then, although Machaach said there was no offense intended when he slighted meeting him, DeSoto's pride bristled. Who was this loner, to come into the Valley and begin not only slighting its history, but judging him, a wolf with the right to be here?
Without his noticing, the white slash marks on DeSoto's navy chest suddenly flared red, and he growled. Now, normally, the growl would have been quiet, and only slightly threatening. More of a watch your step than anything. But now that Geist had given DeSoto the gift of Siren, a much louder sound escaped his lips. The growl rocked forth from his teeth and even made ripples in the water at his feet. These wolves, who were not blessed with Siren (that he could see), would surely feel the effects of his power. Wolves that were not a level 1 Siren like he, often felt painful headaches for a short time after hearing a howl. A growl, though much quieter than a howl, would surely have some sort of the same effects.
DeSoto clsoed his jaw and flicked his chin backward. He had not intended to use his power against these strangers. He was always in total control over his own body, so this was an unpleasant surprise for him. "For that, I am sorry." He squared his chest, striking quite the figure in the dying afternoon sun. "I am as yet unfamiliar with my gift."

"No apology needed DeSoto. It happens to all of us. In fact I should be the one to apologize since I caused it. You've been around here a lot longer then me. All I can say as a poor excuse is that I was annoyed. I didn't really feel up to making pleasant conversation with anyone. Maachah really wasn't shocked at the dark wolf's anger or his special ability. He had noticed the markings on the others chest..Maachah yawned widely. It was much later than his normal bedtime but he figured that he could last a little longer without falling asleep. He had developed a little headache at hearing the other wolfs growl but within a couple of seconds it had went away. Unfortunately it had caused him to be even more sleepier and irritated. He reminded himself that this wolf had not done any lasting harm and was not to blame.Looking at DeSoto again he decided that in order to not burn any bridges he should keep his mouth shut. Whenever he opened it he seemed to say his thoughts aloud. He then closed his eyes for a brief rest.

Eclipse: The black-white-grey male was wandering the barrens, remembering when he had first met Fierfly. His gold-blue eyes lacked luster, and his body was skinny from lack of food. His fur was dirty, to the point he looked brown. In his wake, flowers and grass sprouted. In his mouth, he carried a wilted rose that was creamy at the base, and fiery red with yellow speckles like embers dotting it. The color of her fur. He needed to find her, say goodbye.
Who he found was not her, instead it was three other wolves. Eclipse stopped dead, watching. His tail swished nervously. Taking a deep breath, he made his way over. He knew he needed some social interaction, so he was going to talk to them. His ears were forward in a friendly way, but his pace was cautious. He didn't even bother to shake his coat free of the dirt that clung to him like a second coat of fur. Eclipse knew better then to go rushing in all smiles and talking his mouth off.
Watching for another moment, he made his presence known after listing for a bit. The male that had growled very loud made him take a step back. Eclipse's first reaction was to grow thorny vines around his paws. Taking a deep breath as the conversation deescalated, he came closer. "Nice power." Were his first words to the group. He had actually had to focus to not grown plants in his pawsteps after it became a habit. Almost as natural a breathing.
The focus showed on his face. "So, did I step in on a meeting? Or is this a random encounter." Eclipse's skeptical tone was not hidden.

It's a random encounter. My name's Maachah. Yours? Maachah had no idea if the scraggly male was an enemy or a friend, but he had already discovered that being rude would just get him in trouble.The other wolf looked to be in bad shape, with dirt all over it's fur and glazed eyes. Even through this there was determination on the strangers face; determination for what Maachah didn't know. Mentally he grinned thinking and now there are four. However, outwardly he kept his face straight. He didn't make a move which suggested either that he was a friend or a foe, because he wasn't either. He didn't want an enemy and rather be peaceful but certainly getting surprises left and right weren't great for his mood.By the way, it's nice to make your acquaintance.

DeSoto;
The Evil male gave a rare smile. A fleeting thing, that flashed his teeth for a moment and was gone. Machaach had said it was nice to make Eclipse's aquaintance, but all he himself had gotten was that it was unpleasurable. DeSoto merely flicked his pointed ears, then turned his curiously sharp maw toward Eclipse. He nodded once as Eclipse complimented his gift. If it was not so nice now, it surely would be, with practice and discipline. And if DeSoto was good at anything, it was discipline. His entire life had consisted of that and not much else.
He turned his large head away from the Oasis then. This meeting was going nowhere, and he had been gone too long. Blood-deep training was telling him to return to his pack lands and seek out his Alphess. Not to annoy, no, simply to be, if she had need of him. He didn't say goodbye, or even bother to announce his exit. He simply stood, and with a swish of his dark tail, he walked easily into the bushes and was gone.
-Exit DeSoto-
