Spring, so fresh and green. So unpredictable. This season of rebirth was as unpredictable and chaotic as life itself. One moment the sun would be shining merrily down on the valley, the next the sky wreaked its wrath in the form of violent thunderstorms. And yet, though all this change, life thrived. It thrived in the form of beautiful flowers, every color of the rainbow, doe-eyed fawns, and yipping wolf pups.
Valor found himself now, not in a jade green field, or a sprouting emerald forest, but a rosy, pastel wonderland. The atmosphere here was sweet and fresh, the trees parading their ornamental reams of mauve leaves.
To say that the pistachio male had stumbled upon this forest, in knowledgeable about its significance would be entirely false. Valor was here for the only reason that any make sought out the Forest of Love. Love. Valor wasn't quite sure how to go about it though. He knew he wanted a wolf who would cherish him, someone kind, clever. But he didn't know if this was the right way to go about it, if he was being too blatant. He didn't want to look like some desperate creep ready to throw his love out like it was replaceable. But Valor didn't know where else to turn.
There was a hole in his heart, a gaping chasm. He needed his other half. But no, there was no such thing as the other half. Valor was whole. Each wolf was their own. They were complete. A wolf could love more than one wolf in their time. Shiver, his mother, had told him that shortly after she accepted Zeke was never coming back. And so Valor stood in the shoulder-high grass, unsure how a wolf like him could find love.
He half dreaded and half longed for a wolf to come meet him. Dreading being seen as a pup at first sight. Dreading being dismissed as not even worth chatting with. Longing for some wolf to see who he really was. Longing for a chance!
