The soft wind blew back Shastas fur as she walked, feeling tired and her pelt pricking with anger. It's been a year since the incident with her mother, and her sisters traveled far but their hatred grew strong and started directing it at each other. The oldest of her younger sisters left and the younger one stayed, still brainwashed and a slave to Shasta. An underling is never to be wasted...but earlier on her sister finally retaliated. Closing her eyes she remembered her sister telling her how she ruined her life. Ruined? She wasn't going to get strong with that weak pack at her side. Coddling her. Telling her it was OK to be weak filth. Her claws dug into the dry earth as she walked now but she smiled. Well her sister no longer has to worry about being strong anymore. Because now she never will be. She wants to get away from me? She thought. Well I'll make sure she never breathes again...and boy did I make sure of that.

Suddenly Shasta's daydream broke at the smell of a teritory marker. The scent of this pack was...hostile. she would either be a fool or very brave to tresspass. Steping at the edge but not crossing the boarder she narrowed her eyes looking to see if she could spot anyone.She's not going to leave now. She was too curious to meet these wolves and she would be a coward to leave. It was worth a shot. Throwing her head back she let out a howl to let them know she was there. And then waited. What would happen now?

Mayhem stepped close to the territory, hearing the howl. Close behind him, Hailstorme, his younger and more cruel sister, followed. Their eyes fell upon a silver and black female, and Mayhem spoke before Hailstorme could growl. "You howled, probably wasn't expecting two other loners?" His voice was cold, almost like ice. Hailstorme let out a small grunt, "We should howl too, just to see what happens." Mayhem nodded, and the siblings let out a small howl in unison. After the howl, the young male sighed. "My name's Mayhem. This is Hailstorme." Hailstorme nodded in greeting as the two stopped right in front of the border.

:Midnight Oasis:

Oasis heard the howls and saw three wolves standing there. "Well, what do we have here?" She sighed and stared at the wolves. "I'm not in the pack. But I'm here to join, I hope you know." Oasis sat and held her gaze with the others. "Hello, I'm Oasis. And I DO NOT like to talk." She lifted her paw and licked it. Her dorsal streak shown brightly in the night. She twisted her paw and smiled an expressionless smile. She howl and waited to hear what the other wolves would say. 'They better not say anything about anything to me.' A michivous voice echoed through her head. Yeah she agreed and smiled.

Fjord patrolled the border, alone. A wolf like him rarely needed backup. He was a warrior, a murderer, a strategist. The Outer Reaches were a hundred times more alive than the Barren Wastes had been. The scrub was a bright blue-green, bright yellow blooms extending their petals from the brush. Wild lavender and sage burst from the clay and sand like magic. The river on the far side of the territory was full, giving that area a marsh-like vibrancy, young willows waving in the cool spring breeze. It wasn't enough to bring larger game though. It wasn't nearly enough for his tastes.

The hulking male inspected the muddy paw imprints of a young rabbit in the dirt, sniffing them deeply before freezing the mud solid with his power. He was interrupted, however by a series of howls. One that initially perked his ears up on his skull, and then two more in succession. Loners on his border, or a brigade from a different pack? The howls didn't seem diplomatic or antagonistic, but with evil wolves you could never be certain. And so, with a mixture of annoyance and excitement he commenced a brisk lope. He was a white dot on the mottled green, yellow, purple and tan landscape. A blur beneath the teal, cloud streaked sky. He pinpointed the epicenter of the howls and slowed as he neared the border, squaring his shoulders and narrowing his eyes into scarlet slits. He approached at a leisurely slither, his movements bold, yet seamless, his neck slightly bristling, and his tail erects behind him in a show of dominance. His grim grin hinted at how he viewed himself, perhaps perceived as arrogant. If he was, it was for good reason.

He surveyed the three wolves. One, apart from the other two, a female, was rather large. Her pelt was silver, dashed with various crimson and black markings. The other two seemed to have arrived together. The male was thinner than the two females; sharper. His fur was a gradient of silvers and blacks, a few red markings on his face, the other shewolf was similarly colored with white, rounded markings on her upper body.

There was one more wolf there, a shewolf with a bluish swirl down her side.

Fjord glanced at each of them in turn, letting his gaze bore into them before speaking. "You all have found yourself at the border of the Midnight Silence pack," His voice was gruff, but smooth, like frightening roar of an avalanche. "I am Alpha Fjord, state your business." He flicked his ears at the first female, indicating that she was to speak first.

It seemed as soon as she howled, others seemed to gather,but not who she expected. Loners that also had the same idea decided to show their faces.Two of them.Her ears flicked at the introduction and she answered back quickly."No I didn't expect visitors. She growled At the two loners Mayhem and Hailstorme. She naturally had a chip on her shoulder and sighed when yet another came into her line of sight and introduced them self as Oasis, self proclaimed non talker.Non talker? She thought."Whatever" She sighed as she turned away from Oasis." Hi everyone my name is Shasta bla bla blah I'm a loner too." She said tiredly, clearly not have slept in days. The normal chatty female no longer chatty. Just tired and moody.

Narrowing her green eyes finally saw someone coming up to the boarder. This one smelled what she expected to be one of their pack members.When the large male stepped up to the boarder he spoke as he looked at each one of them. Alpha Fjord his name was. He was intimidating and angering him was the last thing she wanted to do. As his eyes met hers he clearly awaited her to speak, She dipped her head to the alpha and spoke clearly, being respectful but not wanting to seem weak. She hated seeming weak."Greeting's alpha fjord. My name is Shasta, banished by my pack I seek to join your pack. I'm looking for a strong leader who will lead their pack to victory...no matter what." Her eyes shown with bloodthirst. If he didn't like her motives or what she was seeking then so be it. If he tried to kill her, so be it.She wants more then a coddling pack. She wants driving force of strong wolves who shared her same beleif.She will just have to die trying.

Mayhem nodded to both Shasta and Oasis, while not noticing Fjord until Hailstorme nudged his shoulder. Hailstorme and Mayhem nodded in unison before waiting for Shasta to finish speaking. After she spoke, Mayhem and Hailstorme dipped their heads as Mayhem spoke. "Greetings, sir. I am Mayhem. Me and my sister worked together to kill five wolves before being found out by their mother two months later and we seek a pack." He nudged Hailstorme and she spoke, "Hello, alpha Fjord. I am Hailstorme. My brother has spoken of our past. We want to join a pack that is murderous, and we shall fight for the pack until we fall." She thought what she said was okay, but Mayhem suddenly glared at her, his face saying ''Spoke too much sister.''

:Midnight Oasis:

Oasis clawed the ground impatiently and sighed once it was her turn to speak. Her eyes shined with ambition once Alpha Fjord turned to her. "Why, hello. Like the others, I'm here to join this pack. I am thrilled to murder some wolves." She said with a crooked smile. Oasis stood and swiped her tail around her leg. She looked at Hailstorme and Mayhem with no emotion in her eyes, then at Shastas. "Well?" She whispers impatiently, half hoping that the others heard. Oasis focused her eyes behind Alpha Fjord, and spotted a movement in the grass. 'Hmm, a rabbit? Or a wolf? Either way, that would be fun to kill.' A voice said, and Oasis agreed.

Shasta could almost hear a rabbit take a crap in the silence left in the wake of the loners introducing themselves.not very subtle are they? She thought.She was interested in what the leader would say next. Or do next rather. She knew that that he was only one wolf but who knows how many members he has to back him up if a fight broke out. She didn't like the look of this one. This area has always been strange. These are the lands where some wolves are given powers. She could almost sense that about him and she loved it. Maybe he was one of those special wolves?
She felt as if most if not all alphas near the mountain had powers. She wouldn't be suprised.Shaking the thoughts from her head she awaited Fjords response.Her paws pickling in anticipation .

Hailstorm glanced to Oasis and faintly smiled, and Mayhem nodded as in to say "Yeah. Good Job." A small bit of movement behind Fjord made Hailstorm look back to him, straightening herself up. Mayhem stifled a yawn before straightening himself up too. His sister sensed something about the male in front of the loners that made him slightly more intimidating, yet she didn't show any signs of fear. Mayhem also sensed it, which made him shift his paws. He said he was an Alpha, so who knows what or how many wolves he had with him if something were to happen? And even so, the wolves, if there were any, were extremely good at hiding.

The white behemoth watched the first shewolf with a tired gaze. They were all the same. She was playing her demeanor safely, look strong but respectful, dip your head. Do this. Do that. All in the sake of keeping up appearances. She bravely proclaimed that she had been banished from her back and was seeking a new one. That much was obvious. Fjord smirked slightly and looked down his long pointed muzzle at her. "Oh? What were you banished for, Shasta?" His scarlet eyes flashed with a test. Normal wolves would panic and swear that they hadn't done anything wrong and assure the Alpha that the fault did not lie with them. But Fjord wasn't interested in do-gooders and 'normal' wolves. No, he wanted a wolf who lied and cheated. A wolf who knew the law of kill or be killed. Who followed it closely. A wolf with blood lust and a thirst for flesh under their claws. However, to get survive and get ahead in the grand apocalypse that was life one had to be smart. He'd let all kinds of murderers and heathens into his pack, but only the very best of wolves gained rank and respect. In a pack of demons who ruled? The strongest. The most cunning. The deceitful. The careful. Those who played their cards right held the trump.

Another shewolf spoke, blatantly bragging about the murders she and her brother had schemed and conducted. Fjord appraised her and her companion, his gaze steely and silencing. The male nudged her and chastened her. They were dysfunctional, clumsy. Still they were wolves. He needed a batch of front-line soldiers in the coming aggression that would surely explode between Midnight Silence and the neighboring pack, Secluded Sunrise. Fjord declined to speak to them and simply moved on to the fourth, and last wolf.

She introduced herself as Oasis. This one was cracked, unhinged. She wouldn't be the first crackpot killer on his territory. So far the pickings weren't great, but like before, he needed some expendable wolves, and these four would do nicely. The first shewolf was undoubtedly the cream of the crop, but still didn't seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer. "All of you are welcome into my pack, but be aware that as the newest recruits, I won't stop my wolves from tearing you limb from limb if they see fit." Fjord snorted dryly, sinning around gracefully and trotting off. "Prove to me that you're worth my time and you might have a chance."
