Sky; The mute female walked through the meadow, the grass blanketed in snow, any puddles frozen over. Sky loved this time of day, sunrise that is. She loved how the sun turned the sky all those beautiful shades of purple, gold and blue and the clouds pink. She loved how the birds sang in greeting of the morning. The thing the white-furred wolf loved the most, though, was the hope of a new day, where anything was possible. Until famine had driven the black-pawed female out of her pack a week or two ago, she had thought that she would always lead the life an Omega, unable to rise in the ranks of hunt due to her inability to vocalize. Not that she hated her life prior to the famine, she had always been treated well, but nobody had thought she was their equal and she was constantly lonely. Maybe she would find a friend here, maybe even a mate or a new pack. The thought of friends made Sky so happy that she set off on a carefree run, joy making her paws light as a feather. She rolled in the snow and caught snowflakes on her tongue. The yellow-eyed wolf had never grown out of her puplike behavior, even though she was a full five years old. Even so, she did eventually get tired, so she lie down and smiled. The sun was now over the horizon, the sky a cheery blue and the clouds a light golden thanks to the sun. She had a good feeling about today.

Pusher pushed her nose into the ground and walked forward with it still close to the ground. The sky was a lovely blue and the clouds were like golden ripples in water as the aero female looked to the sky and sat down to admire it. She was small, but she was clearly visible to anyone who paid attention. She jumped and spun around before landing on her back with a soft thump. This day was greeted with enthusiasm, even though Pusher loved winter and the snow.
Up until now, she had forgotten the battles of her past, the violent and passive, the bloody and the clean. She sighed and let her face fall into a straight, indecisive facade. All the memories came crashing down on her, and tears threatened to spill from hr bi-colored eyes. "I believe, it all, is coming to an end. Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend." She whispered as she sat herself up and looked around.
Then she saw red among the white of the snow and she stood up to get a better view. The scent of wolf was strong in the air and she carefully trotted closer to the wolf.
"Hello?"

The yellow-eyed female studied the few blades of emerald grass peeking out the snow by her black paws. Although the winter was beautiful, Sky always thought that the plant life looked so sad and hallow in wintertime , the trees and bushes skeletal without their coat of leaves, the flowers dead and withered. That's why evergreen trees were her favorite, they were always so green and full of life. The cold winter wind changed directions, bringing the mute wolf a sent that had surrounded her all her life, that of another wolf.
Sky turned around to face the small blue female as she said "Hello?". The white-furred wolf nodded by way of greeting. The other wolf seemed much younger than Sky, and her bicolored eyes looked sad, so the wolf with the red markings stepped closer, hoping to offer the small wolf comfort, and smiled.

Pusher smiled softly when the red marked female nodded and stepped closer, some of her sadness draining away and leaving joy in her burgundy and orange eyes. Her excessively long tail swung from side to side, the pressed down fur at the end of the tail flicking snow to and fro. She noticed the smile on the female's lips and her tail swung quicker.
Her fur was frosted white with snow from her previous antics, and she shook herself slightly. Pusher's smile grew wider when she realized she hadn't introduced herself yet. As spontaneous as Pusher was, she squeaked out cheerfully.
"I'm Pusher! What's your name?"

The other female looked happy to see the mute wolf, and her tail began to wag. Sky's red striped tail also began to to move side to side, the smile on her face growing. The yellow-eyed female sat down in the snow and silently mimicked a small laugh as the small blue wolf shook the half melted snow off of herself, it looked like she had also been playing in the snow. The orange and burgundy-eyed she-wolf smiled more. Sky liked the blue wolf's smile, it was contagious and made her whole face light up. Then she cheerfully said "I'm Pusher! What's your name?"
Pusher. Now that's a name Sky had never heard before. Then Sky realized that Pusher had asked her a question and expected a response. First, to communicate that the black-pawed wolf could not talk, she shook her head from side to side, then put her paw on her mouth. She repeated the action until she thought Pusher understood. Then she placed her paw on her chest and pointed at the sky to communicate her name, repeating as necessary. She then offered another smile. Sky knew that sometimes communicating with her was hard sometimes, but she hoped that Pusher would look past it.

Pusher watched as the female shook her head and placed her paw on her mouth a few times, and Pusher figured out what she meant. The female was mute. She never met a mute wolf, heck, she didn't even know wolves could be mute. Then the wolf placed her paw onto her chest then pointed it to the sky. At first Pusher had no clue what it meant, but after a bit she realized.
Sky, what a simple name. Of course, maybe it was needed since Sky was mute. It probably would be difficult to say a name like Pusher's, but that was her opinion. "Well, Sky, I've never met a mute wolf before, so this is different." As Pusher said this, her smile slightly faltered, and she dipped her head to one side shyly. Her tail swayed slowly now, and she sighed softly.

Sky watched as the blue female's face shifted from confusion, to understanding as the larger wolf explained her condition. The white wolf sighed as Pusher said "Well, Sky, I've never met a mute wolf before, so this is different.". The wolf with the bi-colored eyes looked a little discouraged, her smile waning, tail drooping and a near-silent sigh escaping her jaws.
Sky did not want to make Pusher work harder at communication, but she didn't want to give up on a friendship with the female either. The yellow-eyed wolf walked forward a little more, until there was only a foot or two between them, and then she sat down and offered a sad smile. This close, Sky could see the intricate purple markings on Pusher's face more clearly, and wished that she could tell her how beautiful they were. The red-marked female wished that she had made more of an effort to communicate earlier in lie so that she wouldn't be such a burden to Pusher. Sky had liked Pusher, her impulsive nature was rather fun. Now, though, she didn't know if the small wolf would be able to put up with her defect. The winter air, once such a delight, chilled Sky through her white fur and stung her nose.

Pusher lifted her head slightly, seeing that Sky was only a short distance between them. It was sudden, but the sad smile Sky gave Pusher made her feel slightly better, and her tail began to wag quicker.
Then a thought came to mind. Wolves could gain powers from the white wolves during the seasons. And the white wolves could read one's mind if they wanted to, right? "I just thought of something!" Pusher said excitingly, her eyes lighting up and her head lifting to face Sky.
"There are three white wolves in the mountain that gift powers to wolves of their respective alliances. One of those powers is Telepathy! If you had that power, you could talk to others without speaking out loud, which would be perfect for you! At least... I think."

Sky saw Pusher lift her head a bit, looking mildly surprised that the mute wolf was so close. Then the blue female's tail began to wag, which made the yellow-eyed female feel warm and happy. She smiled and let her tail wag too. Then, as some wondrous thought came to her mind, her bi-colored lit up. "I just thought of something!" She said enthusiastically, her head lifted high. The white female's smile turned to a big, toothy grin. She knew whatever her new friend had come up with, it was brilliant.
"There are three white wolves in the mountain that gift powers to wolves of their respective alliances. One of those powers is Telepathy! If you had that power, you could talk to others without speaking out loud, which would be perfect for you! At least... I think."
The goddesses! Of course! She could visit one of the white wolves, they could help her! The female jumped to her black paws, excited. She began to bounce in the direction of the mountain, then paused, walked a few paces back toward Pusher. She looked at the wolf with the mismatched eyes, then tossed her head toward the mountain. She hoped that Pusher understood that Sky did not want to take this momentous journey alone.

Sky had first bounced in the direction of the mountain, but then took a few paces back to the blue wolf. After a look, Shy tossed her head to the mountain. Instantly, Pusher knew that Sky didn't want to go alone.
"Wait, what alliance are you? That was we can go to the right goddess. Lower your tail for evil, raise it for good, or keep it straight behind you if you're neutral." Pusher said swiftly, taking a few steps closer to Sky and looking at the mountain. Pusher had no problem taking Sky to Sheba, but Taboo or Geist? It would be awkward, yes, but hopefully things would work out.
"Oh, I'm Neutral if you were wondering, Sky."

Sky was relived to see understanding wash over Pusher's face. Then her friend thought of another thing.
"Wait, what alliance are you? That was we can go to the right goddess. Lower your tail for evil, raise it for good, or keep it straight behind you if you're neutral." The blue female paced closer to the mute female, her face mildly worried.
Sky paused, thinking. She knew that she wasn't evil, but she didn't know whether she was good or neutral. Her pack had been close enough to the valley to know about the Power and be affected by it, but not close enough to chose an alliance. She pondered a second longer, then held her red striped tail up high.
"Oh, I'm Neutral if you were wondering, Sky." Said the small female. Oh, this might be a problem. She looked at Pusher, then cocked her head. After a second, she sighed. Oh well, there was nothing they could do about it. Besides, she was sure that Taboo was nice, even to wolves of different alliances.
Sky stood, walked a few paces, then turned to Pusher and tossed her head towards the mountain. She then shrugged. She didn't know if the neutral wolf would want to go with her to Taboo, and the yellow-eyed female didn't want to make her do anything she didn't want to do.

It took a minute, but Sky's tail had gone up. Alright, so that was checked off. Pusher nodded and let her shoulders sag in relief. Sky then tilted her head and sighed, and began to walk a few paces. She then turned to the small female and motioned the mountain. "Right, I'm sure Taboo won't mind if I tag along for company and assistance. Let's go!" Pusher yipped and bounded ahead to Sky, eyes shining with an adventurous light.
She stood patiently and looked to Sky, a wide, goofy grin spreading across Pusher's face. 'Yeah, Taboo shouldn't be too upset. She should understand the fact that Sky doesn't want to go alone.'

((Okay, I'll tag you in the thread in the mountain when I get around to making it.))
Sky saw Pusher's shoulders sag in relief. The mute female let out a pent-up sigh. She had wanted Pusher to be able to decide, but deep down she had also really wanted the small wolf to come with her. When the blue female saw that Sky was ready to leave, she said "Right, I'm sure Taboo won't mind if I tag along for company and assistance. Let's go!" and bounded to where the older wolf stood, her bi-colored eyes sparkling.
Sky stood there for a moment, enjoying her excitement and company. Her new friend looked to her with the silliest smile, which made the yellow-eyed wolf mimic a laugh. Sky thought about all the things that she would say to Pusher if and when she got Telepathy. She looked over her shoulder at the sun in the sky, reflecting on the clouds and the snow. She did love the winter, and the sun. She loved what had happened on that wonderful day, and she was excited for what life had in store for her. She thought of her pack. Her mother, her father, her brothers and sisters, all the naysayers.
She looked at the path ahead of her and took a deep breath before walking toward her happy fate.

Pusher giggled at the older wolf as Sky stood for a moment before mimicking a laugh. With a look to the sun and then ahead of her own feet, Sky started off to the mountain. Pusher started off soon after, eyes shimmering.
As she hummed a small tune, her mind flew to her old pack. Keivo, her passed mother, the wolves who beat her down, the wolves who tried to discourage her, the enemies she fought, the friends she made, all of them. Her paws began to move quicker as if an attempt to catch up to Sky, and her humming turned to soft singing. So soft, in fact, only she could hear them.
"We'll carry on, we'll carry on, and though my heart cannot contain it, your weary widow marches on~."
