Arch settled himself onto the ground next to the lake. He had just finished eating the only kill he’d had in three days, so he wanted a nap. He put his head on his paws and just allowed himself to breathe. A gentle breeze blowing through the clearing he was in brought the smell of water from the lake to his nose. He wasn’t so near the water that he might fall into it if he rolled over in his sleep, but he wasn’t so far that he couldn’t reach the water whenever he needed.
He chose to live this way because of habit not because he wanted to. A quiet huff escaped his throat, one of the few sounds he could manage to make. He closed his eyes and his breathing, which had already been steady, evened out even more. He had no one to wait for and no plans so he allowed himself to fall quietly to sleep.
He dreamed. He relived his childhood as the servant to the alpha and about how his first pack had come to and end. He remembered how kind the wolves of his second pack had been and smiled at the memory of them teaching him how to hunt. Then his dream ended, and his smile faded. He felt like he was being watched and glanced around, but saw nothing.

Immortal’s eyes washed over the body of the lake, marveling in it’s beauty. As the wind carried itself across the open plain, rolling down from the hills in the distance and cooling off the atmosphere around, he smiled. The days were growing progressively hotter as spring clamored for control over the land, and resisted the urge of the fading winter. It was a welcomed breeze, that would gently pet you as it ran its invisible fingers through your fur.
The strange white wolf needed a calming season, especially before the encroaching months of summer would inevitably send him crawling into a dark corner, tucking himself away in terror and fear. A simple smile warmed the deepest depths of his soul, and he twitched his ears respectively, listening out for any strange sound in the region. It seemed safe, and as long as the sun wasn’t completely scorching his skin, Immortal would remain in the light. But eventually, the sun would send him spiraling back into the depths of the night.
The wolf’s unique, pinkish-red eyes scanned the area before landing their sights upon the slumbering, strange wolf. He was a uniquely browned fellow, dyed white upon his skull and striped across his backside. Other parts seemed tucked away and hidden, as the strange beast slumbered. “It is a nice day for a nap...” He commented to himself, pulling a soft yawn off of the top of his lips. Before the other wolf would awaken once more so that their eyes might meet, Immortal turned away to study back in to the depths of the cool, blue waters of the lake once more. He would leave the sleeping wolf to slumber far off in the distance, instead of wandering over to investigate the stranger. Besides, he wouldn’t want someone interrupting his slumber, either. Instead, he would focus on current events that surfed through his mind….

So there was the source of his discomfort. He couldn't honestly say that he was surprised, and he wouldn't mind company, so long as they were civil. Whoever they were had obviously already assessed him and found him harmless, so Arch did the same to him.It wasn't difficult as the wolf had no markings on his pure white coat. Arold couldn't see his eyes, but he imagined them to be some unremarkable shade.
He couldn't talk, and he certainly wasn't going to move now that he had found a comfortable place, so compromised by making a motion with his head that indicated the stranger was welcome to come closer to him if he wished. He didn't know if his gesture would be seen as the other seemed to already be occupied with his thoughts. There was indeed his breeze and he let out a gust of air, trying to get rid of the tension which made his neck ache, leftover from before the stranger had revealed themselves. His golden brown eyes glinted and he lowered his head to partake of the water before looking back up. The male hadn't relocated in the short time it had taken Arch to look down and Arch didn't know what he had expected of him. Perhaps try and jump Arold in a split second but that was silly. If he had wanted to do that he would already have done it. He recognized the thought as his mind's ridiculous attempt to give itself something to do, but he didn't appreciate it.
The newcomer hadn't yet taken Arch up on his unnoticeable offer to come closer so Arold lay his head back down. He was awake and didn't have much need of sleep anymore, his little rest and walk down memory lane finished. Perhaps the other wolf had the same intentions to nap, in which case Arch probably wasn't going to find any entertainment from him, but it was his right. Perhaps it is for the best that we don't disturb each other.

Dodger;A light breeze blew through the silky fur of a female padding towards a particular lake. Her long tail swayed behind her, her long legs allowed her to move with grace, and her head was held high with ears perked and eyes forward. Currently, she was out in the opening, taking an approach to the lake from the meadow side of the spectrum. The scent of other wolves had accompanied the scent of fresh water for a short amount of time already, growing stronger as she climbed a small slope. Once she reached the top, she looked down to see Kai Lake, waters cool and pristine from a higher vantage point. Bright blue eyes then caught sight of the wolves she had smelt on her way there. One was a brown male, marked with white fur, laying across the ground. The other was pure snow white, their red-pink eyes visible even from where she was. An albino most likely, something you didn't often see a pure version of. Flicking one of her ears, she walked down the slope and stopped at the edge of the waters on the opposite side of the lake as the two males. Not once did her eyes return to either of the two after she left the hill, almost as if she had never even noticed they were there, or didn't care. She leaned her head down and began to lap up water slowly with her eyes closed. She could feel the sun beating down on her white and forest green fur, the dark-ash-colored portions of her not receiving quite as much sun. Her pelt did have a sort of clean shine to it, almost demonstrating its softness through sight rather than touch. (Just to let you know Immortal, in case you didn't see. The thread was made in January, so it is currently Summer in this thread. Just wanted to make sure you knew )

(Oh no, I didn't realize! I'm sorry about that, I'll write to reflect that from here out. =3)
Although the gentle breeze was inviting as it tickled their hides and slipped between strands of their furred hides, it appeared to pick up speed. As it rush in, a gust of air to sweep its way through the valley, running up and down the sweeping hills. Unnatural, given the hot summer air and rising temperatures that always worked their magic after the close of spring time, until they eventually reigned supreme throughout their season. But inviting, Immortal had to note to himself, as he contemplated the weather. He wouldn’t question it further, although irrationality begged the question, ’Was it natural?’
Also Mr. Oblivious, the quiet loner wouldn’t have noticed the invitation from the brown wolf, who beckoned him quietly closer. Perhaps, it was a good thing that the invitation was most likely only half-hearted, as a means to ensure peace and tranquility inside of an otherwise cautious yet calming evening. The albino lapped the cool, refreshing droplets of water up gingerly with his tongue, pooling in liquid drops of nutritions and life. Even the dynamic wouldn’t remain the same, however, as another wolf approached the valley from his peripheral.
Immortal lifted his snout up, standing tall as he turned to face the stranger as she approached the collective gathering of wolves. He studied her, noting her lithe physical form and her unique, forest green undercoat that crawled up to wrap itself strongly around the whole of her cranium save for a singular streak of white. The depths of her blue hues were chilling. “Good evening miss. I’m Immortal.” He greeted, with a simple nod of his head. “I believe our other ’friend’ is still snoozing.” He mentioned, with the gestured shrug of his shoulders. He bobbed his head in the direction of the other stranger, to better direct her attention.
Immortal sat down on his rump as he informed her. There was an itch crawling underneath his fur and digging into his sanity as it seemed to ravage his flesh. He used his hind leg to kick wildly at his side, digging his sharp nails into his coat. Ahhh! Scratching the itch always made it feel so much better! Although he had to chase it as he scratched his way progressively up his side. Biting bugs, who needs ‘em!

Arch mentally shook his head at the chatty catty male who appeared to replace the previously silent wolf. It had to be the appearance of the female that prompted it and Arch held an expression which was saying how ridiculous that was. Apparently Mr. Albino over there hadn't noticed Arch's gesture after all, but it was still ridiculous. If the ignoramus truly believed that Arch was sleeping he wouldn't have been speaking in a voice loud enough to wake the fish. Or maybe he just isn't polite. He had indicated this by calling Arch his friend in a manner which many would find offensive. Arch didn't feel anything but a mild spark of entertainment at the wolf's antics.
He introduced himself before the female had taken any initiative to reply to him, which Arch found rather foolish. But then again the wolf had already proven himself to be a little if not a lot foolish. And how does he know she's a miss? After all, she could always have a mate and four pups somewhere. She didn't smell of other wolves, but it was easy enough to cover one's scent with other fragrances, and making assumptions might just get a certain albino in trouble. Arch just shook his head at himself and growled deep in his throat to make it very aware he was not sleeping. If that doesn't get their attention they're both clueless. All of the thoughts Arch had been having were not directed towards the other two beings in a derogatory way, but rather in an indifferent way. He really was just trying to find a way to amuse himself since he couldn't actively participate in the conversation.
Then the wolf sat down and began to scratch as though his life depended on it. I hope he's not infested with fleas.Arold enjoyed his mostly scratch free life and he intended for it to stay that way. It wasn't as though he'd never had fleas, it just wasn't something he enjoyed. The little parasites normally died off in the winter, but it was summer now and he was still susceptible to them. He stopped evaluating the pure white wolf's off the wall behavior to study the female for a little bit. She too had white in her coat but instead of it being solid white it had green and black interspersed throughout it. Her eyes were cold and Arch decided that he would much rather the albinos red eyes to her blue ones.
((Thanks Calypso! I meant to say that but kept getting distracted)).

Dodger;
It hadn't taken long for one of the wolves, the Albino male, to approach her. She hadn't really meant to catch their attention, she was just there for a drink, but he came to her first and spoke first, so there wasn't much she could do. She lifted her head and looked over at him, light blue eyes seeming to lightly glow as she listened to him. And what an odd statement it was that he spoke. 'Good evening miss. I'm immortal.' No wolf was immortal, save for the White Wolves, so his statement had to be false. But he spoke before she could say so.
She glanced over at the other wolf that he spoke of, taking note that the other wolf was awake and not asleep like he said. She merely looked at the other male a moment, no expression on her face, before she leaned her head back down and was about to take a drink again, but decided to make her statement now. "Fool, only the White Wolves are immortal. Your too insignificant to be that powerful." She said this without looking at him or the other. She merely began to drink from the lake again.

The albino’s smile wavered throughout the conversation. As their testimony shifted from different points of view, he would pull himself gradually away from his adversaries, disinterest tempering with mild anger and annoyance. He was oblivious, and this delusional bubble that the white wolf had placed himself inside of would eventually burst. Stupidity would replace rationality, and common sense would escape out of the window. The sleeping wolf uttered a guttural sound from within his vocals, it would seem, pulling his attention away from the female wolf and onto his strange ‘friend’. He studied him for a second, collecting his unique, respective opinion over this male as his eyes took in their presence. It was a strange notion that Immortal would have to face, as he confronted himself with the idea that he was previously wrong about the brown wolf. “I’m sorry, sir!” He greeted, then turned back towards the white and green female. Still, he scratched himself incessantly as he carried the conversation onwards. She was rude, and stupid, and he wished nothing more than to close the topic he had originally started with her. What business did he have to try and explain what a name was, or how he had assumed that she was intelligent enough to grasp that concept?! Perhaps he would try one more time… “No, ma’am. I’m,” He started, stressing the fact that he was talking about himself. “Immortal.”He chuckled a little, pulling a half smile across his lips. “Would you care to try saying it? ‘Ihm-or-tahl’. It’s not that hard to grasp. I’m white, but not a White Wolf...I’m actually albino.” He stated in a ‘duh’ and a matter-of-fact way. If there was a chance where he needed to step back and realize where the miscommunication was happening, he’d missed the boat. No, in his mind, she simply was just too ditsy. “And, you are?”He turned away to the male, so not as to exclude him. As if it would help the conversation excel he simply mouthed, ’this female’, in a suggestive manner. I mean, what more did he need to do? Did he really need to spell it out for her?! I’m not going to take the time to play ‘spell your words’, that’s for sure! He thought silently to himself. ((Haha, Immortal's going to make the conversation worse. ))

Arch looked at the wolf with mild dislike. It still looked like he was amused at the antics surrounding him though. The fact that the female confused what the male was saying wasn't surprising because he didn't take her for the most observant of creatures. She didn't seem like a complete idiot though so Arch had to wonder if she was just playing dumb to get the male to leave her alone. But the male was obviously not the brightest bulb in the box as he didn't clarify what he meant. Just say that your name is Immortal and leave it at that.
He rolled his eyes and summoned the will to stand. He slid inside of the lake, hoping to get away from the scratching wolf and the summer heat. He didn't exert much energy in swimming or keeping himself afloat, allowing the water to carry his body around and his natural bouncy to keep him from drowning. He appeared completely relaxed, and that was exactly how he felt.

Dodger;
As the male attempted to explain himself, the tiniest bit of irritation crept into her thoughts, but she didn't show this. She merely remained emotionless and almost seemed not to even listen to what he said. When he had finished speaking, she lifted her head again and looked at the albino male, icy blue eyes narrowed and resembled daggers as she spoke.
"I'm not an idiot or a pup, so don't treat me as one. It is you who should consider how to say something before you say it." Even though she heard his question, she turned away, starting to walk along the edge of the lake away from him, answering him as she walked away. "I would give my name, but there's no sense in giving your name to someone who is rude to you." Throughout her speaking her voice had remained the same. She didn't really seem annoyed or threatening or sarcastic, yet what she said seemed like it would be if it had been said by anyone else. It wasn't that she thought she was better than him and wasn't going to give her name for that reason. She just knew the importance that names could hold. Giving your true name to someone you thought may use it against you was never a good idea. Even though this male was likely too stubborn or just dumb to think of that sort of thing, she wasn't going to take the chance. She would merely allow her calm nature to irritate him more than he already seemed to be, even though it was his own fault that this had happened.

The itching irritation that drove at his physical form seemed to fester into his mentality. It dug underneath the coils of the inner mechanisms of his cranial cognition. The miscommunication that spread through open dialogue seeped into every spoken syllable, amplifying the false premiss between the two wolves. With the rise in temperatures and the rise in heated emotions, it was easy to feel uncomfortable underneath the given conditions. Still, it was probably something more than simple fleas that caused his skin irritation.
Immortal considered the silent male wolf in the background, who simply slipped into the refreshing waters of the lake and afforded himself the opportunity to truthfully cool off underneath the powerful sun of the midsummer day. "You come off as a Monique." He stated rather decisively, in order to properly title her and avoid the impromptu moments of simply referring directly to her as her gendered identity, or presumptions thereof based off of her physical form. "Unless even that offends a tenderhearted individual, I would prefer to not simply call you something...more generic." He trailed, trying not to simply state the implied generic statements he would have otherwise formed.
Besides, it wasn't entirely uncommon for some untrusting individuals or wolves with compromised identities to need to craft a new calling card, and entirely redraft themselves to better conceal their origins. He wanted to chalk her up to simply. Although irritation insisted on a physical alteration, the unbearable physical irritation that crawled just beneath his skin begged of a quick retreat. "I guess it would be my displeasure.." He muttered underneath his breath, as he thought about the quick decline in the conversation. Of course, he would try to befriend another wolf and the terms wouldn't be so mutually acceptable to both parties involved. Question was, did the silent wolf - until otherwise clarified, now known as Brad - stay silent to avoid the drama or simply to cool off underneath the sun's unwavering rays?

Arch looked disinterestedly at the two wolves. Well that deteriorated quickly. It was only one conversation he was infinitely grateful for his complete inability to participate in. Except with the female's choice to distance herself from the male, still scratching as though his life depended on it, his attention turned on Arch. That's sweet of him, but I doubt he'll find much stimulating conversation with me. The nerve of the wolf though... giving someone a random name and then saying that it was a displeasure to meet them. Not that he hadn't done the same thing in his head a thousand times before. But there was a major difference between thinking something and saying it and Arch was sure others had died for less.
The female, or Monique, as Immortal had so eloquently put it seemed a little more interesting than the seemingly overeager albino. He contemplated the merits of swimming closer to her.At least she isn't scratching like a maniac. He mentally shrugged and swam there climbing up on the bank beside her and making sure to keep a small gap between them so that he wouldn't disturb her. His swim had been short-lived but it was definitely worth it. He smirked, looking between the male and female, curious to see how things would go from here on. This might be fun to watch.
