Yami;
He listened closely as she named off the darkest wolves she had met on her misadventures with Nyx. Yami felt her slight anxiety at picking the right wolf ease slightly as he blinked or nodded along with her words. This was good, this was alright. It was really going to take some doing, learning how to trust that he wouldn't suddenly switch and become yet another shadow in Yami's ever-circling nightmare. But then again... Then again perhaps it wouldn't be so hard to trust him, after all. Yami looked up at him just as he looked down at her, some hidden thought or other spinning through his mind. She already did trust him, somehow. Not necessarily in small things like conversation, that would come she was sure—but larger-scale. Keahi wouldn't hurt her. Keahi would always be good to her. She could see it in his eyes, already, the sense of ownership and pride when he looked at her. It filled her to the brim with an emotion she couldn't quite place. Love? Lust? She wasn't really sure what those emotions would entail or feel like... was it a personal sense of pride? That he could see so much in her? Perhaps...
When his smile grew mischievous when Yami splashed water towards him, she felt a sudden elation. She had done it! They were playing! He didn't splash her again, but rather spoke instead. His words were slow and smooth—deliberate... like some sort of forbidden honey. Yami's eyes grew large and her mouth parted just slightly as she drank in what he said. Pretty... Friend... Control...
These were big words, and certainly not ones that Yami was used to hearing in regards to herself. He sure knew his way around a conversation... Yami felt herself lean again towards him, just slightly, but at that moment he backed up and sank gracefully under the water. He moved so slowly, so perfectly, that it should have been downright sinful. Yami took a shuddering breath as his head dipped under, and then took a few deliberate steps forward of her own. When he came exploding out of the water, laughing and fairly soaking her because she now stood so close to the spot he disappeared, a smile dashed across her face. It was quick, but slower than the first shadow that had passed over her lips. This smile was far more organic—far more reactive to the situation.
He spoke again, and this time it was business-like once more—but that quiet, confident, Keahi-way made even this topic sound laced with hidden meaning and innuendo. Keahi came even closer to her so as not to lose his footing, but Yami didn't back away. Instead she allowed the closeness to deepen, and looked up at him in the close-quarters as he spoke to her, all innocence and curiosity. "If I had to—" An entirely impossible idea, but for Keahi, she would imagine it. Her chin was well-tilted to keep his face in focus, but her shoulders were bent towards him as gracefully as her thin body would allow. They were so close, and yet not quite touching... something about that seemed even more thrilling to Yami. Knowing that just an inch-worth of shifting on either one of their parts would result in contact... but not yet... "My instinct is to tell you that without a doubt Nyx could do the job, unless your brother is a good blind-fighter..." She shifted, sideways though, to prolong this limbo of near-touch. The smile was gone from her face now, but at the corners her lips were slightly quirked. All in all, not an off-putting expression. "Fenrir, well, I know firsthand how brutal he can be..." Fenrir was frightening, yes, but there wasn't the same sense of dread with him that Yami felt with Nyx. His was a different kind of evil. "Acribus, as well... he is strong in combat. He created the arena near the Ruins that serves as a stage for the most brutal in our society to rip and tear at each other." She shivered, but looked into Keahi's eyes and felt the sense of calm that she was quickly attributing to him, settle over her again.
"If I were to do it, I suppose I would want somebody that could pick up where I left off if I were to fail. In that case, my faith would be best placed in Fenrir, Acribus, Deimos, or—" He knew the fourth name. She didn't want to say it, and certainly didn't want him to pick her. But if he did... well, she would do her best to imagine that, too.

Keahi;
What was it? Had it been a smile? Water had been clearing from his eyes and face, but he had seen the lovely reaction flicker to her thin face in reaction to his eruption from the water. He wanted more of that, he wanted to see her reactions – it was like a drug. It was drove Keahi, to see others bend before him. One may assume choosing a slave was a shortcut, as often wolves with more confidence put up more of a wall. Slaves… were like broken walls; they just had to be rebuilt. It wasn’t the same as a free wolf, unless you could feign freedom for the slave.
He looked down at Yami who looked back up at him with such innocence as she began to speak again. The smile he had yearned for was fading as she began to speak. It was unfortunate, but he did need the answers. Yami brought up Nyx first and the way she could blind her foes. Then Fenrir was next and his brutality. She spoke of place where wolves went to fight and Acribus who had founded the games. He did not want a fair fight though, he didn’t want it to be just him and his brother enclosed on a stage. Night, it could happen at night where it would be harder to see his brother’s expressions. Another wolf starts it – does most of the work, then holds him down while Keahi makes the final blow… Or maybe he would need to see that his brother would attack him back, to see that his brother would do the same thing if he were in his own paws…
She assumed that the other wolf would be finishing the job… but no, Keahi wanted to be the one making the final blow. If anyone was to kill his brother, he didn’t want anyone else doing the deed. He listened as she trailed off, obviously omitting Nyx from her last list. He smiled and leaned to close the small distance between them to touch her lightly with his nose. “Thank you, Yami.” He leaned back again, but did not move otherwise. He sighed, as if a burden was lifted from his back.
“I think I’ll be enlisting Fenrir or Acribus then.” It almost made what was happening more real. He tilted his head up to look over Yami toward the looming distant mountain. It was and would be all worth it, right?

Yami;
Yami noticed immediately that when she hesitated on that last name... that last name that was so blatantly obvious... that was when Keahi moved forward and touched her with his nose. Whether he meant to or not (though he certainly did and Yami just didn't realize), he had just cemented in her mind that he would always protect her from the shadow demon that she was sworn to. For if he even comforted her when the name wasn't even spoken? Yami could only imagine what he would do in the real scenario... And then?! Oh then... Then he actually agreed to use some of the names she suggested. He thanked her for her thoughts, and actually planned to put them to use. Yami's eyes widened. Was it elation she was feeling? Anxiety that it would fail, and by extension, she fail Keahi? Was it power? Perhaps this was how all wolves felt when their opinions were taken into consideration...
Yami exhaled slowly, shakily. In that one breath was more inflection than all of her words so far combined. "Knowing you gained something from this conversation brings me great pleasure." Her words were innocent, but something much more wicked and mischievous glinted in her eyes for a moment. She was finding conversation less frightening by the minute, and in fact felt herself longing for more. "I hope I've been helpful to you. Is there anything else I can help you with?" Anything, anything...
In the silence as she waited for him to answer, her eyes dipped down to his graceful chest once more and she realized one dreadful reality. "Oh Keahi," She said, giving a small gasp as her eyes widened. "Are you going to make me go back?" It suddenly seemed like the only thing that made sense. How would he formulate his plan unless Yami was by Nyx's side? If Nyx imagined for a moment that her property had become compromised... Yami didn't even want to think about it. She had never got the sense that Nyx cared about her well-being; instead, it seemed that Nyx only cared about her. Not whether or not she got injured or anything like that—Nyx often did the injuring herself, or watched it happen—but rather about the fact that Yami was her slave. Yami was not to speak to anybody, was not to stray. And yet... even with all that... somehow, Yami felt that Nyx wouldn't bat an eye if she died. How did somebody do that? How did somebody not care, care unforgivingly, and then not care again all at once?
"Oh let me stay with you. I can make you happy, Keahi. Think of everything you could teach me." Her eyes sparked, a very slight desperation hidden deep within her voice.

Keahi;
It brought her pleasure? Of course it did. He listened as her breath shook before she told him and asked if there was anything else she could do that was helpful. Oh…plenty. He looked at her thoughtfully, bringing his fiery gaze back to Yami, searching her face for emotions or hints of emotion. Something flickered across her face, something wild and not… slave-like. He hadn’t been able to deduce the exact thought or feeling she had had, because her head ducked down toward his chest.
She said his name and then gasped. Yami had fooled herself into believing that Keahi would ease all her pains right away. He gulped gently, but kept a smooth façade, sighing lightly with sympathy.
“Yami, love. I want you to stay with me…and one day, you will.” He paused, touching her again with his nose, motioning to bring her gaze back up to him.
“We cannot change our situations overnight –right? Just like I must kill my brother…“he tried not to flex his jaw too much as he said this, trying to act calm about the fact he was practically going to kill his brother for no more reason than to get what he wanted- “…to get what I want…to get what you want, what we want, we will need to do some work in order for us to have a peaceful life together.” Perhaps…he was promising a bit much. He shrugged softly as if he couldn’t help the situation further. Keahi looked into her eyes, trying to use his smoldering power to calm his new toy that he could sense had started to panic.
Now, he had not actually admitted that she would have to go back; he had focused on how they would create solutions. Let her feel like she was in control, let her feel like she had the choice to return. In reality, she did, but if he had planted enough of his own jargon, she would really want to help him with anything – even if it meant going back.
“Would you… be willing to be there? When I kill my brother?” He had lowered his voice a little, quieting it, as if it were a secret. He didn’t have to feign the slight stutter in his breath as he spoke. He was actually nervous, but he had noticed that when Yami felt helpful it sparked more conversation and confidence to the ashen slave.

Yami;
"Yami, love—"
She barely registered what he said after that. Something about wanting her to stay, and one day that happening (Which only meant that today probably wasn't that day)... but love. Love. It was in that moment that Yami realized, without a doubt, that she did love this male before her. He lifted her chin with his nose, and her eyes found his hungrily. No more fear, no more pauses and unsuritys... Yami loved him. He spoke again about how they couldn't change things overnight. About how he had to kill his brother. Had mind you. Not would. The finality of that sentence pressed on Yami. Surely such things wouldn't be easy for a brother to admit. But Yami could make it easier. She was there to help him in any way he could. If that meant comforting him, then that is what she would do. Yami moved forward, water splashing all about her, until she pressed against his sturdy chest with her own. She knew how these things worked. She was not so young as all that. Even if he didn't love her (yet. She knew he would one day), some things were hard to ignore. She tilted her chin up to look at him from below, for his slender neck was so graceful, his jaw so much higher than her own. She lifted slightly onto her toes and nipped the underside of his chin, just where it began to bend into his neck.
She lowered once more as he spoke of their future, of a peaceful life together, of getting what they wanted. Soon, Yami felt a strange feeling grip hold of her. It was a good couple of seconds until she realized the feeling was hope. Hope. Why, it had been so long since she had felt anything like. And it was all because of Keahi.
"I will be there," She said, her voice even and unaccented, but she spoke while still looking up at him from her place nestled against his chest. "You do not need to fear, fireling." Her voice lowered until it branched into a whisper for her last statement. "Nothing can stand up to fire if it burns hot enough." Because of course she would be there. Keahi would kill his brother, with the help of either Fenrir or Acribus, and she would be there to be collected by him once the deed was done. Once he went to Geist, once he got what was owed to him, he could then have Yami as well... He could have her right there in the water in fact, in a far more literal term—but when he became the flame that he was destined to be? Ah, even ashes could be reignited.

Keahi;
He watched the black and orange curiosity approach him through water that swirled from her movement. The wolf moved with a robotic grace, with a flavor of something that was like she was desperate to feel loved. She pressed up against him and he let his throat rumble with a pleased growl. He had felt her nip, something instinctual inside the female must have been released and he found himself smiling warmly as he tucked his head down to cup her into the embrace. His head lifted away when he felt she was beginning to speak and tilted his head slightly so he could see her slightly from the corner of his eye.
She was soothing him. Everyone wants to feel as if they are needed. It was one thing to love or rely on someone else, but the bond is when the need becomes a circle. Keahi knew it was a dangerous circle, one that could trap one going in circles and circles without being released, but it was the one of the only ways to get someone to actually trust you. The trick was to be only half in the circle, to make the circle a lie. Soon, if he had lured her in enough, he could casually step away, but she would continue to encircle him.
His brother and he had a similar circle of brotherly love. Geist had stepped into their ring and suggested a way out of it. He bit the insides of his mouth, drawing a prick of blood as Yami confirmed that she would be there for him. She was telling him not to fear and that the heat of their fire would conquer all issues. He knew that. He didn’t feel like he actually needed her confirmation, it was all a ploy – right?
“Thank you.” He murmured. “Thank you, Yami.”
The best way to end this was to really thank her, he knew that she would want it if he offered it again… But he wanted to drag that on a little longer. Besides, what if she got pregnant? That… would be a problem, mostly for Yami if Nyx found out. It wasn’t time yet to free the ashen bird from her cage. Well, he had opened the door and tempted her, to show her all that freedom entailed, but she was still trapped…
“Perhaps we could meet here again – and you could bring one of those wolves. The faster we do this, the faster I can have you all to myself.” He teased, ducking his head once more to nuzzle the top of her head, using his teeth to lightly graze the ear he could reach.

Yami;
His head bending to embrace her as she tried her best at being sensual only served to cement the fact that she loved him. Everything he did. Every breath he took... she was but ash yearning to be engulfed. But then she spoke, and he moved away, and he listened. Even the smallest of details was a thrill to Yami. Looking at her as she spoke, smiling softly in response. She had been like an animal starved and had never known. But now? Now she had tasted the sweetest food. Drank from the purest well—but just. She had only realized the potential to satisfy her yearning. It was there, and it would happen. That was enough for her. When he bent to nibble her ear, her eyes nearly rolled back and she shivered into him. His teeth against her fur was the highest level of exhilaration. She had felt teeth plenty of times before—but never kindly. Never gently, and never suggestively. It was forbidden, and she was unsure, but she had a feeling that was what made it oh so sweet...
"Soon," She mumbled, looking behind her distractedly. Knowing she would soon have to return to the night. It would be so different, now. Would Nyx notice? She was smart... but she paid little and less attention to the slave. She gulped, and glanced back at Keahi before taking a step backward. "The thought of you will keep me alive." That part was a whisper. It was juvenile, it was silly—but it was also true. At least as true as Yami could imagine. The idea of being parted from him, especially now, was upsetting. But for him? She moved forward, erasing the backwards step she had just taken and pressing against him once more in parting. "I will do anything for you," She murmured, pressing her mouth and teeth softly against his jawbone as she spoke. She would go and find Fenrir or Acribus and bring them to Keahi. She would do it if it killed her. Because for Keahi, Yami was sure, there was nothing she wouldn't do. "I won't fail you, my Keahi."
And then she turned, because she knew she was supposed to, and because she knew if she didn't she was in danger of disobeying. And if she disobeyed, he may not love her. And that just wouldn't do. She forced herself to a trot, quickly exiting the water and leaving the lake behind. She would have to do something about the smile on her maw, and soon.
-Exit Yami-
