((This thread is meant to get my two characters to meet up, but I decided to have it open in case someone wanted to chuck their wolf in as well! Don't mind my book))
His search for Fierfly had led him to Kai lake. He has not picked up her scent, no, even when going back to where he had last seen her the trail was all but wiped from existence. So he just searches aimlessly for some sort of clue of where to look.
He is beyond tired. His body aches from pushing himself far too hard and his fur is caked in more than a few layers of dirt. He's forgotten when he last ate, but his stomach stopped rumbling a while ago, so he doesn't think about it much. Despite all of this, he will press himself onward; but, perhaps his mind is the only thing in agreement with that thought. His legs give out and he stumbles, flopping to the ground with a whump. The flowers and grass that normally sprout up as he walks have stopped and suddenly, Eclipse's world is.... spinning? He narrows his eyes, feeling a fuzziness start to cloud both his mind and vision. He's... tired... maybe he should nap... a little nap sounds good, then he can get back to..... His eyes shut and he is engulfed by sleep.
It still amazes her how hot it gets, even after living in the valley for most of her life. Aerwyna hates it. She has a special reserve full of hate just for the heat. It makes her pant and her fur itch, and it reminds her too much of fire. She has not had the best experiences with fire. That's why water is better, and that's why she's been swimming in the lake for... a while. She's basically a fish now, though all the different schools of fish that populate the lake swim away when she gets near. The other reason she probably isn't a fish is, she cannot breathe underwater. Oh, what she'd give for that ability. She probably wouldn't ever leave the water if she could do that! Alas, she is but an air-breathing wolf, and those must return to the shore at some point. Plus, she's getting rather tired.
She begins her way back, her legs propelling her through the water smoothly. She swims until she can walk, then she wades out of the water. She shakes herself off when she is on dry land, vigorously fluffing her fur. She is about to go find a shady spot to lay down in when she spots a wolf. She freezes, the familiar antsy prickle of wanting to flee tickling at her paws. After a few seconds of standing stock still, she realizes the wolf is asleep. Relief sweeps through her. No interactions with any other wolf today or ever again is fine by her. With a sigh, she begins to turn, but, something catches her eye. This wolf is beyond dirty and he looks... He looks to be literally skin and bones.
A soft feeling wells up in her chest. Sympathy. She isn't sure what he's been through but.... She remembers her first weeks alone when she was only eight moons old. After her father.... A sudden crackling fills her ears and flashes of memories fill her mind. She shakes her head with a sharp whine. No. She won't relive that, not today.
The dark teal she-wolf sighs, despite her want to leave, she can't. She can't leave this wolf without helping him in some way first, her conscience won't allow it. That is why she turns and trots to one of the shallow areas of the water, where fat fish swim closer to the surface. Catching fish has never been the easiest task, but for now, it is easier than trying to find a rabbit that is close. The she-wolf wades in the water carefully, creeping in until the water tugs at her legs in friendly invitation. She stares into the depths, watching the distorted images of fish swish around, their scales glittering in the daylight. She swoops down in a quick, sudden movement, pushing her head below and coming back up with a writhing, silvery fish in her jaws. Only to have it slap her in the face. She drops it with a yelp and it splashes back into the water. Her face twists in anger and pain and she quickly nabs it again before it can swim away, throwing it onto the shore.
"Stupid fish." She grumbles as she makes her way to the now flopping fish. She picks it up, with great care of its tail this time, her face will probably be sore for a while, and shakes it till it goes limp. She looks to the sleeping wolf then cautiously approaches him, dropping the fish next to his paws.
Eclipse doesn't stay passed out for too long. What wakes him is a smell, it's wonderful, making his stomach begin to yearn again. His eyes crack open and he blinks dazedly. A fish lays at his paws. He stares at it in mild confusion. How did it get there? That thought doesn't seem to really matter to his stomach, for it growls loudly and he winces, not only from the loudness, it also kind of hurts. He raises up into a proper laying position, head swimming almost drunkenly. Then he begins eating. Fish may be an acquired taste to some wolves, but not to him, not currently at least. He rips and tears at it hungrily and has made it halfway through when he sees a flash of teal in the corner of his eye. The black and white male looks to his right, finally seeing the wolf standing before him. He blinks, her fur is drenched in water, and the color of it makes her look like she could've just come from it, some sort of lake goddess. His fatigued mind thinks, yes, that is a very correct assumption of who she could be.
"Did you give me this fish water goddess of the lake? If so, thank you, I've been forgetting to eat for a while.... I've been looking for someone I love." He smiles at her, his blue and gold eyes shining thankfully, then continues to eat.
"Water goddess of the-What?!" Aerwyna stares at the male with confusion written across her face. At first, when he woke up, she had been frozen. Not sure if she should flee or stay, not sure what she wanted to do at all. What he said did a good job of knocking her out of her stupor. She stares at him as if he has grown two, no, three extra heads. "Did you hit your head? I'm not, I, what?!" She shakes herself. "I'm not a goddess, far from it. Also, yeah... I gave you the fish, you looked like you needed it." She twitches slightly as her shock begins to wear off, replaced by the uncomfortable feeling of being looked at. Her mind is starting to scream, 'okay, good deed done, we gotta leave!'. Though she never wins her own internal conflicts. "You're looking for someone?"
"Again, thank you." The black and white wolf blinks then frowns, beginning to wake up a little more. He wonders why she is acting so confused and shocked, then he realizes. He frowns more, looking quite sheepish. "Oh, sorry, I'm a little out of it I guess, that was a weird thing to call a wolf you just met. Plus, there are only four goddesses... I think." He chuckles awkwardly then pauses at her next question. Eclipse's ears fold back and he nods, without even thinking too hard, he begins to make a flower grow, it is much like the one he had carried until it wilted. It is the color of Fierfly's pelt, brown and orange with fiery speckles. "Her name is Fierfly. Her pelt is much like the color of this flower and her eyes..." Another flower grows next to the first, this one a light shade of blue. Eclipse finds himself having to focus a great deal on the creation of this one. Perhaps he has worn himself a bit thin. "Have you seen her?" He looks up, eyes hopeful. If she has, maybe... maybe he can speak with Fierfly and finally get some closure, finally feel happier again.
Flowers. Are Growing. Right in front of her eyes. Aerwyna makes a noise, more of a soft exhale of breath. She watches, entranced as they unfurl in bright, beautiful colors. She has heard of powers, but she's never seen them. This wolf MUST have one! His words finally reach her thoughts and she frowns. She hasn't met a Fierfly and hasn't seen a wolf like the one whose coat and eyes are depicted by the flowers. She shakes her head softly.
"Sorry, no..." She pins her ears back, feeling rather useless. She should just go. Perhaps it would've been better if she had left earlier.
Eclipse sees her amazement at the growth of the flowers. He smiles softly, but it droops when she shakes her head. Of course, he will never be that lucky. A familiar darkness tugs at him, but he quickly kicks it away, only allowing it to turn his white emotions to grey. He still feels it's pull so he decides to focus on something else. His multicolored eyes look the teal wolf in front of him over, then he focuses on a flower. It sprouts from the ground in front of her, reaching towards her and unfurling. Its petals are teal like her pelt, lighter teal staining their surfaces in places and the purple of her eyes coloring the tips. He feels light-headed and decides it'd be best if he lays his head down on his paws. He really has worked himself too hard.
"I'm Eclipse." He pants softly, then sees the distraught look on the she-wolf's face. "Hey, it's okay... I wasn't expecting you to know her... just asking. Anyway, it's nice to meet you."
