Gale;
Winter was a great season, or at least that’s what Gale used to think when he was younger. Now it wasn’t his favorite, but he also didn’t hate it. It brought its own beauty to the world, but it also had its challenges. But didn’t every season have challenges? The snow crunched beneath Gale’s paws as he walked along the grassy landscape. The sky was half sunny and half cloudy, but more clouds seemed to be collecting for a light snowfall later on. Gale wouldn’t mind more snow, a fresh later would make track following more fun. He would probably need to hunt something down in the next few days, it had been awhile since his last meal.
The grass stuck up through the snow in patches, and he began to notice mounds of earth scattered unevenly along the ground, some large and some smaller, but large enough to hide behind. He trotted up to one of the mounds and sniffed around, the oddity of these unusual mounds didn’t surprise him as much as finding a tunnel opening hidden by the snow and grass. He stepped back and curiously looked around expecting someone to be there, but it was empty. Empty except for snow and grass... and this Trang’s tunnel, he wondered if the other mounds all had hidden tunnels too. Further sniffing indicated no one had been present for a good while, other than rodents or hares, but no wolves. His power mark on his neck began to glow silver as he stuck his head in and slowly crawled his whole body into the tunnel. The sense of earth was all around him, and he could feel the stones embedded into the walls of the tunnel. The space wasn’t generous, but it was movable, and he inches forward into the darkness. A larger pocket of tunnel slowed him to turn his body around without having to back up, and it was almost large enough to actually stand. Gale was very surprised with how well this tunnel was dug out, and he suddenly got super excited to use his power to modify the walls like he had with his friend’s small den. While his mark glowed it gave off very little light, but enough to help in the dark space. He began to touch the smalls stone making up the walls, and with his power he pressed them into the earth and flattened them against each other. His heartbeat rose with the effort and his breath came in heavier. Before he had spent much time working with the stones and earth, he was already exhausted. Modifying the whole tunnel would take a lot of energy and strength. He decided to go back up to the surface for a breath and some fresh air, but before doing so, he piled a few pebbles together and took a mouthful of them with him.
His head peaked through the opening and he crawled the rest of the way out, his eyes burning against the sun and white snow.
