Echo trotted along the shore of the lake, looking into the water, trying to see if she could snag a fish. She's tried multiple times in the last hour, but, apparently, she didn't have any fishing skills. She was just about to give up and go hunt for something else when she spotted a shoal of fish near the shore of the lake, where a large rock jutted out of the shore. She hesitated a second, yes, the fish were just under the rock, making them easy to snag, but the water there was deep, and she couldn't swim well. She shrugged before Trotting towards the rock, paws making indentations in the soft dirt. She gingerly stepped onto the large rock, intending to slowly inch her way to the edge of the very end of the rock and snatch a fish, when she heard a twig snap. He head snapped up and towards the noise, ears pricked up, almost losing her balance on the rock and falling into the water. However, she does manage to keep her balance, and she looks in the direction of the noise.

Orion:

It was a warm, lazy morning and Orion had decided to pay a visit to Kai Lake. It was one of his favorite spots in the valley, and it always reminded him of the day he’d met his friend Gale. The long grass rusted dryly against his flank as he walked. Approaching the lakeshore, he spotted a large black wolf intently watching the water. He thought he’d better not disturb this wolf, so he changed his course so he’d arrive at a spot farther away from them.

He must have made some sound because the black wolf’s head shot up and they nearly fell in the lake water. Orion suppressed a giggle. “Sorry about that!” He called, “I didn’t mean to bother you. You alright?”

Echo regarded the other wolf for a second before looking down. Dang. The fish had been scared away by her almost falling into the lake. She sighs. She’ll have to try and find something to eat later. She shakes herself off, as her fur is slightly damp, before jumping off the rock. She turns her gaze onto the other wolf, her mismatched eyes holding a wary but curious expression. “Yeah, I’m fine.” She said, a bit dryly. Those fish were gonna be her first meal in the last two days. “Who are you? I don’t think I’ve seen you around the lake before.”

The stranger looked a little dejected, like they had just lost something in the lake. Orion watched them a moment, unsure of what they’d do, and a light breeze blew scent toward him. He could tell the black wolf was a female by her scent, which surprised him. She was almost the same size as him, and Orion had never met a female wolf that size. He supposed she was a loner, and Orion knew from experience that it paid to be big and strong when you just have yourself to rely on.

She turned her eyes, one vibrant and the other dark, on Orion. Seeing no malice in her gaze he approached, the long grass giving way to sand under his tan paws. “I’m Orion! I guess I haven’t been here much recently, I only really come here in the summertime, when it’s warm, y’know? It’s really great here for swimming and stuff but in cold weather it’s just kinda sad.” He looked sheepishly at the other wolf. “Sorry, I’m talking too much. What’s your name?”
