The eastern skies were alight with beautiful dawn hues, a mix of scarlet, golden, and indigo painting the horizon. A lone female was trotting briskly through the area, ruby eyes alert for any semblance of life close by. The sun was just beginning its daily trek into a cloudless sky, and despite her solitude, a small smile played at the corners of her lips. Solstice loved the morning, even if she preferred to spend them with someone else. Her family had been errant for months now, but still, Solstice held on hope that she would find them alive. Her hope was in vain, but she was the sort of wolf who saw the bright side of things, even during dark times. She could not abandon the slim chance that they were out there, somewhere, and that she would be reunited with her kin again, someday.
The scent of other wolves caught her attention, and her pace slowed. The smells were so vague, Solstice could not tell if they were recent. All around, as far as she could see, Solstice was surrounded by wildflowers, and she paused to admire the glorious scene as the sun inched slowly away from the eastern horizon. Perhaps if she had any inkling of the evil that lurked freely in unclaimed lands, the fae would have been more cautious. Certainly, her parents had warned her about those with dark intentions. This did not occur to Solstice, who had spent too many lonely months wandering aimlessly, without a pack and without a home. Her tail began to wag slowly behind her colorful form in anticipation, and her relaxed stance showed that she was not the dominant type.
She called out into the silence of the early morning - an action she would soon regret, if unseemly wolves littered the area. That was a chance the flame-kissed female was willing to take. "Hello...?"
