The moon was high in the sky, casting its pure white glow upon the river. Stars dance upon its calm ripples, and the soothing sound of the river's flow is the only thing that can be heard.
~Notes- This is Remus's entry into the White Wolf Mountain Territory.
Remus padded alongside the river, his pace relaxed and his expression calm. So far, he had not crossed paths with any other wolf. It was a good sign in itself; perhaps this was a viable place for him to settle down in. No wolves to threaten him, but no wolves to meet. Being a loner was not by any means on the top of his list, and joining a pack had a certain appeal to it. The pack that he was born to certainly didn't paint a good picture for him, but it was worth another shot. It just didn't feel right being alone.
His thoughts were soon abandoned as he reached the falls, the falling water playing with the moonlight. The effect was amazing; it looked as if the water itself had turned a shimmering silver. Remus laid down at the top of the falls, finding that this was the perfect place to take a small break before continuing onwards.
Side Notes- its 2Am here, so yeah, its pretty crappy. xD

A lone figure shifted nervously across the night-covered terrain. Every now and then it could be noted that the shadowy character threw a quick, suspicious glance over his shoulder, but what he was looking for was impossible to tell. Tagrian was anxious by nature, and moving about at night was not one of his favorite hobbies. In his youth, the boy was well aware of what dangers could and would await him around every corner. Tag had a healthy dose of respect for the dangers of life, but perhaps the dose was too healthy.
A undeniable thirst had awoke the male from his slumber this night and drove him to be where he was now. Just steps away from the edge of a pool of water being fed by a rhymthic waterfall, the wolf paused and admired the scenery for a moment. At this fortunate hour, the moonlight seemed to strike the cascading waves of water at just the right angle to where the light rippled and bounced off in an mesmerizing display of nature at its finest. Right then, Tagrian found himself pleased that he had made the brave decision to venture out this night.
His pleasure was swift and rude in its departure. Out of the corner of a deeply dyed green eye a sliver of movement was detected, and Tag instantly reacted by freezing midstep toward the water. Above the very falls he had just been admiring he had seen a dark form lowering to the ground. Instead of fear though, curiousity struck, and without a second thought the slender male was off to approach the mass to figure just who, or what, it was.

Remus took a few moments to close his eyes and savor the moment. A calm breeze was coming from the north, though it carried the winds of winter upon it. Opening his eyes, he was immediately on alert when he spotted a shadow approach the water, pausing as it noticed Remus for the first time. As the shadow made his way towards him, a ray of moonlight cast away the darkness on the stranger. It was a brown-russet wolf, tall like himself, and didn't seem aggressive. But no one ever died being too safe, and there was no way that Remus would throw his life away to a bandit after all he had survived through. Rising from the ledge overlooking the falls, he himself began to walk cautiously towards the stranger, following the path downwards from the falls. Remus stopped a few meters away from the wolf and sat down, his muscles tensed and ready to defend against an attack. But the wolf still showed no aggression, thankfully. With any luck, there would be no bloodshed. "Hello..."Remus said cautiously, "My name is Remus. And you are...?" It was the first time he had spoken to another wolf in weeks. With any luck, the wolf would be willing to share some knowledge about this territory and if there were any others.

Tagrian picked his way up the rocky slope carefully, moving paw after paw with careful precision. His ascent was noiseless save for the ramblings of a few small pebbles that had been rattled free of their perches. The boy had no intention of sneaking up on the stranger, nor had he any of an aggressive encounter, but situations like this were unpredictable. Some wolves were just out looking for a fight and a young, tender-seeming lad like himself had to stay on their guard.
Apparently, his new found companion of sorts had a similar mindset, for as Tag cast a glance upward the brute's form became outlined in front of him. The russet male froze as the foreign canine drew closer and eyed him with curiousity and perhaps an ounce of mild suspicion. Before him was a wolf that was primarily black in color that went well with the nighttime scenery. A few patches of white interrupted the onyx flow as well as a pair of gilded eyes that met his own green sights. Their body language seemed to mimic each other: one part tense, but lacking aggression. Both were just being and defensive players, not a bad trait to have in parts like this.
After a brief moment of hesitation, the male spoke and Tag breathed an inward sign of relief. As far as first appearances went, they meant each other little threat, and for that he was thankful. His edge of sleepiness from his previous rest had not yet totally found its way from his senses. A thin smile met the slim boy's lips as the other wolf introduced himself. With a light nod, Tag acknowledged the other's greeting and matched it with his own tenor introuction. "Tagrian." He began, his tone at first hesitant and stumbling but growing in conviction as he carried on. "Tagrian's my name, I mean." An awkward pause as the boy attempted to mend his slip up. "It's, uh, good to meet you, Remus."
Encouraged by his quick recovery, Tag continued on in order to block the moments of discomfort he was imagining the other male to be experiencing. "Nice evenin' to be out, huh? Crazy hour though I guess. What's your business out here in these parts?" A pained expression briefly flashed across the boy's tan muzzle as he inwardly chided himself for asking so many questions, and intrusive ones at that. Who knows how badly he had screwed this meeting up and they were only a few minutes in!

The wolf still failed to shown signs of aggression, and Remus allowed himself to relax for a time. As far as he could tell, they were evenly matched, and neither of them wanted to walk away with substantial injuries. The russet wolf even seemed slightly sleepy, which was not a surprise, given the time of the night. Tagrian introduced himself with some troubles, and Rem immediately took him for the more cautious wolf, such as himself. Before Rem could reply, Tagrian was attempting to recover, asking a couple questions in an almost quick succession. Remus couldn't help but to chuckle to himself a little. "Pleasure to meet you as well. Its been quite a while since I've had a good conversation," said Remus, glancing upwards to the stars and the magnificent waterfall. "It is quite a nice night. As for the crazy hour, you get used to being awake at this time."
Remus honestly had no business in these parts, and if he was encroaching on this wolf's territory, he would happily leave. He was too kind to have to burden another wolf with taking needed prey. He turned his head back to the russet male and replied.
"I'm just passing through. If its you're territory, i'll leave quickly of course. But tell me, whether you're a loner like me or you live here, do you have any knowledge of this area?"
The black wolf knew it was quite a big question, but he had always found there was no harm in asking. Besides, it was much better t try to prepare for the journey ahead.

As the other canine began to reply, Tag let loose in an inward sigh of relief at his luck; he hadn't run into a complete and total lunatic! While thinking these thoughts to himself though, the male's words had slipped on by and he had almost missed them completely. The boy noticeably paused - dying a little on the inside as he did so - and backtracked so as to bring himself up to speed.
Conversation. Yes, that's what they were having, and a good one at that. Awake. Now that was a word that Tagrian knew all too well. The urge to sleep still tugged at his senses. The last of the words he gathered were in the form of a question, one he wasn't sure how to answer at first. "Wait, uhh." He mumbled uncertainly, mostly to himself before figuring out what Remus was asking.
"Oh no!" Tag exclaimed suddenly, his body seeming to jump at the words, his eyes wide. "This isn't mine." A nervous chuckle. "I'm just kinda here, not really sure what I'm doing." He cast his eyes off to the side as he said this, unable to meet the black wolf's gaze. Tagrian did not really know what he was doing with himself.
"But I do have some knowledge of the area!" He began again, a little more assured this time and eager to assist. "This valley lies in the shadow of White Wolf Mountain. Right now, we're at Wildwater Falls. I also know there are some packs in the area, but after that I don't know much." The copper male rolled his shoulders in an apologetic fashion and awaited Remus's response.

Remus received the other wolf as... strange, in a way. Tagrian seemed to have almost dozed off in the midst of conversation, making Remus wonder if the wolf had gotten any sleep. While pondering on this, he was shocked by the other wolf's sudden reanimation, springing back into the talk. It was a relief that Remus wasn't trespassing on Tagrian's territory, although it did worry him slightly that the russet wolf didn't know what he was doing out here. If there were rival packs, vicious ones, they wouldn't hesitate to cause harm to an unknowing wolf. But perhaps he wasn't worried about them because they were peaceful. Remus hoped that was the case.
"Er, well, that's a relief. So if this is Wildwater falls, so that's White Wolf Mountain...?" Glancing up at the mountain, Remus felt a sense of both foreboding and amazement. The mountain had history to its very core, and it seemed to cast it over the area. Rem couldn't help but to feel almost drawn to it.
"It was quite nice meeting you, Tagrian. I'm off to look in to that mountain, and perhaps look further into the packs. Its been a long lonely time since I've been in one."
Turning away, Remus began to pad off, before stopping. It wouldn't hurt to travel with another wolf; it would probably be safer. He turned his head back towards Tagrian and gave him a friendly smile.
"You're welcome to join, of course. You don't seem to be a bad wolf, and its always safer to travel with a friend."

Tagrian hoped that Remus didn't find him odd or weird. After all his slips ups in the conversation so far, he wouldn't blame him if he did. Social interactions, well, they weren't exactly his strong point. He was working on them though! There was just a lof of it to be done. A look of concern crossed his facial expression as he studied the black bitten brute. Remus seemed like a good enough guy, maybe there was a potential companion to be found here, given the male wasn't too put off by Tag's shifty nature...
"That would be the one." Tag replied with a look of interest toward the mountain range. He had heard many tales about those peaks, some good and some bad. Still, the bronze boy couldn't help but fill a strange, persistent urge to go there, to explore and find what secrets those treacherous crags hid. He knew though that it was unlikely he would ever act on those urges, not unless the opportunity arose.
His ears flattened in mild disappointment at Remus's words. He had the courage to move on and traverse regions that Tag did not. The idea to find a pack to join had crossed his mind more than once, but the chance of failure loomed ever present in the young canine's mind. Earth green eyes trailed the departing wolf as he left and his thoughts trailed off to what he was going to do next.
Yet Remus paused in his travel and turned once more to address him. His words brought a rise of hope and joy out of Tag and he hopped up to his feet almost too excitedly. Consciously though, Tagrian corrected himself and attempted to make himself seem more composed as he was. A few tentative steps were taken forward as he studied Remus's face. "A-Are you sure?" He asked gently, not wanting to bother the male. "I don't want to impose, y'know. I can hunt though." A break in his speech as he deliberated a little bit more. At his next words, Tag straightened his posture and stood a little taller than he had the length of the meeting. "And fight if necessary."

"Of course i'm sure! I've traveled alone for just over a year now, and its always good to have a friend alongside you. Besides, I think this might be the area I finally settle in, if you say there's packs here..." Rem was glad to see that the wolf was excited at the prospect of traveling together; it showed he was more likely to say yes. In addition, Remus had never met a wolf quite like Tagrian, although most other wolves he had met were aggressive loners or packs that had their own problems. Not that he had many good experiences with wolves before he became a loner anyways; he still did not see why his father doomed his family when he could change the mistakes that led to their downfall and his banishment. His father loved him, he knew that, but still Remus still failed to see why he would betray their pack. Perhaps one day he would have the courage to go back and find out if the story they told was true. The black wolf quickly snapped back to the conversation, not wanting to seem like he was occupied with other, more troubling matters. It was a secret he would keep to himself, for now. Sitting down facing Tagrian, he continued speaking. "It'll be a welcome relief taking a break from hunting, if you wouldn't mind," he chuckled, "I've been doing it for quite a quite now." Remus couldn't help but to pause at the fighting statement. With any luck, they wouldn't get in to any trouble. "Lets hope that fighting won't be necessary." He rose again, and glanced at the mountain. "So, where shall we explore first? shall we go see what the packs are like? Or perhaps explore that mountain?"

The prospect of finding and joining a pack both terrified and thrilled the young canine. For Tagrian, the ways of pack life were very unfamiliar to him. Having been born to loner parents, he had little knowledge of just what packs did and how they operated. Yet he had heard many things about them, and what he heard fascinated him. Maybe joining a pack was just what he needed, and with Remus beside him Tag knew he had all the help he needed.
The brown boy nodded his head furiously in agreement with the dark man's words. "Of course!" He exclaimed almost too loudly, consciously lowering his voice level for hiw next words. "It'll be an excellent opportunity to fine tune my hunting skills." Tag grinned wolfishly at this, eager to display one of his few excellent qualities. He may not have been good at many things, but hunting for himself since a very young age had left Tag extremely competent when it came to dishing out grub.
"Hmm." He contemplated their options for a moment, not really sure which one to choose. "I guess whichever one happens to be top priority for you. I don't mind either way." A noncommittal shrug for his words. As far as decisions went, Tagrian was not usually one to make them for himself, much less others. He would follow along with whatever Remus decided to do.

"Great! it'll be a welcome relief to have someone else catch dinner!" Remus was fine with making the choice; he had been making his own for years. But he still hated being responsible if any wolves were hurt from his choices, although he was fairly confident that nothing was to happen. It was just a mountain, even if the mere sight stirred such emotion. "Well, I guess the mountain is easier to get to, since its so bloody big. Lets head that way for now." Turning, Remus began to pad off towards the mountain, Tagrian following closely beside him.
Notes~short and crappy, just to move on
